Vampire's Kiss
This story was made for fun and definitely NOT for making profit or money out of it. Trust me, ya boi Mina only sees writing as a hobby and their passion. More important, I do NOT own King of Fighters.
Unreachable Sin. Part 13 of 18
Alright, and decided to update this project before the New Year.
However, it seems that I had to divide this chapter into 2 parts, 'cos
6k. words chapter might be too big chungus xD
*sigh* dear, working on
both parts surely was a pretty wild emotional ride...More so, the only
way to beat the writer-block was by adding OCs as a cameo. So, I hope
that you would be kind to miss Sonia and miss Irene u_u
Plus,
recently learned how to use footnotes and in this chapter I wanted to
introduce the diclonius race. (For non-working footnotes explanation:
Diclonius - a newly evolved species, arising from and very similar to
normal Humans, but possessing psychokinetic abilities far beyond any
Human. For reasons that may be cultural as well as biological, they are
often at odds with Humans to the point of threatening to replace them as
Earth's dominant sentient species. Source: Elfen Lied wiki.)
Anyways, as always,
Enjoy!

It was still the middle of the night when the hunter and his vampire had left the forest. A silent night when countless stars are dancing in the sky while the platinum moon observes them.
However, even on such a fine and quiet time, although Iori’s face is calm, he remains restless and cannot find peace of mind.
The redhead cannot understand what exactly has happened after that fight in the necromancer cave. What was that bright blue light, and why has it entered the vampire?
Why was there a large amount of dark energy around Kyo?
Was Kyo holding back all this time and lying about losing his powers? Was it his true face?
Did he use Iori while waiting for the right moment when he could kill him like his prey?
One thing is for sure: the vampire hunter doesn’t know Kyo long enough nor too well. That’s why he is not certain when the vampire is acting and when he is himself.
Although, why did the brunette warn him when he might attack him or possibly harm him?
After all, vampires are known as nothing more than perfect killing machines, but this nocturnal creature sure does show too much affection or his vulnerable side to the hunter.
There’s something that keeps the hunter drawn closely to Kyo, even if he cannot really understand why. Is it the unintentional charm of the vampire, which he uses to lure anyone into a deadly trap?
Even if that should be any nocturnal creature’s primal instincts, unfortunately, Kyo doesn’t look smart enough to put them into practical use. Therefore, being wrapped around Kyo’s finger because of his natural abilities is out of the question. Or so Iori has noticed as he spent more time studying the brunette.
However, there’s still something that not only caught Iori’s attention, but also piqued his curiosity just after their first encounter.
Even without noticing it, the redhead’s curiosity has grown into a desire to see Kyo awaken his full potential. That’s why Iori won’t allow anyone to approach or touch this vampire, only him, even if he will have to sacrifice himself for Kyo.
It seems the supposed-to-be natural killer like Kyo, who should mercilessly take anyone’s life to fulfill his hunter, gives a purpose and a will to live for the redhead.
But for now, Iori’s further thoughts are interrupted by the feeling of someone placing his hand on his shoulder and addressing him. “Are you okay? Are you sure nothing has happened to you, Yagami? You are spacing out.”
The red-haired hunter closes his eyes and removes Kyo’s palm from his shoulder. After opening his eyes, he calmly explains. “Mind your own business, you stupid vampire. I’m just a little tired, that’s it. But we need to hurry and return before the sunrise.”
However, Kyo only objects. “We can hand these books another time. And if we gonna return straight to Kagura’s shop, you gonna sleep on the floor again, you idiot. Unlike me, you need a proper rest. That’s why we should find a nearest inn so that you can overnight there and then later hand these books to Kagura. Besides, these have waited for a long time inside that cave, so, it can wait for another day.”
Meanwhile, the redhead can swear that despite something entering Kyo, nothing seems to change about him at all.
Now, Iori replies while keeping his hands in his coat pockets. “And how are you going to leave during the day time? I need to know as soon as possible what was that thing entering you and whether you are going to freak out again.”
Despite that, the brunette tries to remain as chill as possible.
After cracking a smile, he places his hand on his chest and indignantly declares to the hunter. “Listen, I’m perfectly fine! So, there’s nothing to worry about it.”
After removing his palm, Kyo softens his gaze and adds. “Besides, I can wrap myself around the blanket or hide in the closet when sun rises. So, can you let yourself to relax for once?”
It seems this stupid vampire won’t give up so easily. So, it might be pointless to argue with him any further. Or so Iori thinks while rolling his eyes and fastening his step.
After passing the brunette and looking back, the wind rustles his long coat, and he asks. “Are you going or what?”
The hunter knows he cannot bring him to the Hunter Guild. So, for now, he hopes that once they find the nearest inn or hotel, no one will sense Kyo’s presence.
After a while, they reach their destination. As they enter, the small bell rings and announces the arrival of this couple of wanderers.
Soon enough, the never-resting owner is alert and waits for them behind the counter.
Apparently, she is a long-haired redhead woman in her mid-twenties, featuring one outstanding detail: triangle-shaped horns on her head that resemble cat ears.
This woman is wearing a black, long-sleeved body-stocking shirt, which reveals her well-defined abs and shoulders. That shirt also has a wide cut in the chest area, and under it, there are several layers of medical bandage wrapped around her bust. Along with that, she seems to be wearing black leather pants with widening shanks.
Now, her silver-gray eyes are fixated on the newly arrived guests.
However, behind that calm and serious gaze, there is a lingering tempest. After all, there is something that ticks her off about this pair, even if she cannot put a finger on it.
But for now, this lady swooshes her long, silky hair.
After closing her eyes and deeply exhaling through her nose, she opens her eyes and greets the visitors in a deeper voice. “Welcome to our small but cozy inn, Lilium, whether you are looking for shelter from the wind and rain. How can we help you?”
When Iori approaches the counter, he addresses the supposed-to-be owner in an annoyed and mildly threatening tone. “And what exactly is a diclonius1 doing here? Where is the true owner of this place?”
The diclonius woman only mockingly smiles and chuckles.
After placing her elbow on the counter and leaning closer, she grins. “Hey, big bro, you sure love to judge, don’t you? What if there are a mere decoration?~ So, why don’t you think twice before you speak? Else, I may ask you to leave nicely while you still can.”
However, the vampire hunter keeps his poker face, even when Kyo tries to step in, he gently pushes him away.
Now, Iori warns her in a bitter voice. “You should hide better or cut these horns completely, woman. If other hunters find you, they will mercilessly kill you.”
The red-haired diclonius woman’s mocking smile is wiped instantly, and her face darkens. Now, she fires back in a strict tone. “Listen, you, mister hunter. If you dare to lay a finger on one of our customers, I’ll make sure your head and body parts will be delivered separately to each known guild as a warning.”
When the diclonius gives a sadistic look to Iori, he feels himself lifted into the air and wrapped by an invisible force.
Hell, he can swear that he can sense an invisible hand placed on his throat and slightly adding the pressure.
Meanwhile, Kyo cannot just stand and watch this quietly.
When he frowns and reveals his fangs, he charges at the redhead woman.
Suddenly, he becomes alerted and sent flying by the strike of invisible long arms.
As he crashes to the ground, the brunette groans.
Just when he is about to get up, the vampire freezes in the same spot at the strict warning of this woman. “Do not interface, boy! Your precious friend needs to learn his lesson.”
However, he ignores these words and manages to stand up.
Unfortunately for him, Kyo is instantly alerted by a pair of invisible fingers penetrating his forehead. Even if on the exterior, he looks completely fine and unharmed.
The nocturnal creature widens his eyes as these fingers are inside his head. Now, all he can hear is this deep yet ice-cold, sadistic woman’s voice. “I don’t want to finish you off, because even if you are not one of us, you are still hated by mankind. However, I cannot promise you anything if you stand in my way.”
While Iori continues struggling in the air, he gives the diclonius a stubborn look, which doesn’t affect her at all.
When she closes her eyes and sighs, she opens her eyes and explains to the vampire hunter. “This place is a neutral zone for all monsters, demons and human-alike. So, I won’t tolerate any hunter’s presence who come here to slaughter everyone. Besides, aren’t you humans only kill or cause suffering for your own sick excitement and hatred? So, I suggest you leave before I blind you and tear your arms apart.”
While she focuses her attention on Iori, her invisible fingers are still inside Kyo’s head.
Despite that, the brunette carefully takes a step forward.
Suddenly, another invisible arm aims at his chest and enters his chest.
Surely, he can feel how it goes through his lungs and heart. But yet again, it doesn’t leave a single scratch on his body.
Now, the diclonius woman widens her eyes at the unbearable pain in her left eye, making her gasp.
She can swear that this pain is sent through one of her invisible arms, which is inside the nocturnal creature.
Suddenly, the red-haired woman falls on her knees and hugs herself. What the hell is wrong with this vampire boy? He doesn’t look like he can possess any power, but that enormous level of dark energy deep inside him cannot belong to him. There’s no way! Someone lives inside him. Someone who is the true owner of this dark and malicious aura.
Right now, she can barely breathe, even her lips are trembling, and all she can say is in a barely hearable shaky voice. “Don’t come close to me… Leave. Leave me alone. Why do you have to be so cold and cruel? You cold-blooded killer…”
Eventually, her invisible limbs release Iori, and he falls like a sandbag on the wooden floor with a loud thump, while all she can do is shakily breathe and tremble like a leaf.
At the same time, the hands inside his head, and chest are removed.
When Iori manages to stand up, a sudden feminine concerned voice breaks into this place. “IRENE!”
One thing is for sure: it returns this woman to her senses, and she looks in the direction of that familiar voice and calmly speaks to this person. “What are you doing here? Aren’t you supposed to be sleeping?”
After sighing, Irene adds. “It’s the middle of the night, you know. So, go back to sleep.”
Apparently, the other person is a long-haired brunette in her early twenties with a fringe, wearing blue pajamas and a light gray bathrobe. Despite her sleepy look, her gaze is warm and innocent.
As this girl rushes to the counter, she ignores anyone.
After getting close to the fallen diclonius, she softly narrows her gaze at the redhead holding her arm and replies. “I heard a loud noise. That’s why I wanted to make sure that you are alright.”
When she closes her eyes and sighs, Irene opens her eyes and reassures the brunette. “You worry too much, Sonia. Besides, it’s only one stupid hunter storming in and putting a big show. So, all I wanted was to warn him, that’s it.”
Meanwhile, Iori rolls his eyes and facepalms at these stupid women, who are slowly getting on his nerves.
However, this time, Kyo steps in and politely asks this couple. “Can you sort it out between yourselves later? We’re looking for a room for a couple of days. Do you have a spare one or not?”
Surely, this vampire’s request surprises the hunter and dyes his cheeks a pinkish color.
Despite that, the red-haired hunter indignantly objects. “Excuse me, he meant two rooms, not a single one!”
Kyo gives him a questioning look and responds. “The hell? You have too much in your pocket just for a couple of nights. I’m just trying to save you some money, you idiot! Plus, it will be cheaper.”
Now, the vampire returns his gaze to the innkeepers and politely adds. “Please ignore him. He just had a hard day. Besides, we can perfectly fit in the single room. So, we’ll have no issues sharing it.”
Surely, it makes Iori place his palm on the counter and demand these gals. “So, how much for two rooms?”
The vampire frowns and argues. “For a single one?”
When Kyo gives him a determined look, he scolds the hunter. “Why do you have to be like this, you dumbass? Besides, you were nagging all the way about how you wanna keep an eye on me. But now you suddenly have a problem sharing the same room? Give me a break.”
Meanwhile, Sonia feels the growing tension between this couple and gets nervous.
Fortunately for her, when her partner places her hand on her shoulder, the long-haired brunette is relieved.
Now, Sonia interrupts this quarrel in a louder yet polite voice. “Um, can you keep your private lives to yourselves? You are disturbing our guests’ rest. Let me check the guest book first. Then you can do whatever you want once you get the keys.”
It seems it’s enough to silence these two stubborn idiots. More so, even if the long-haired brunette doesn’t sense it, this couple sure feels a menacing aura around the diclonius woman, who now wrapped her arm around Sonia’s shoulders.
For now, the long-haired brunette bends and takes a very thick and heavy-looking journal and places it on the counter.
After spreading the pages, she carefully scans through them.
Suddenly, Sonia points to a certain spot on the page. Now, she lifts her head and addresses this couple. “We do have a single vacant room left. So, it’s up to you if you want it or not.”
When the vampire gives a demanding look to Iori, the hunter realizes it’s pointless to argue with him.
In the end, he asks these gals in an unusually polite tone. “How much do we owe you for that?”
Finally, Kyo feels relieved knowing that his partner listened to him.
