I really loved this story; it was well done in almost every respect. I think my only complaints would be:

    1) The attraction between Alistair and Zevran seemed to develop almost too quickly(or, if not the attraction itself, then their progressing from attraction to acting on it). It makes more sense on Zevran's side, given his uninhibited nature and the fact that he finds both men and women attractive, but I would have expected to see a bit more hesitation and possibly freaking out on Alistair's part, maybe his needing some convincing from Zevran. I think it might have worked better if they'd developed a close emotional relationship beforehand (no doubt Alistair would need that, and with Zevran being the only one around who'd personally understand his loss of Amell, there's no doubt who he'd turn to) and then eased more slowly into a romantic/sexual one. That said, I still very much enjoyed their relationship prior to becoming involved with each other, and their relationship once they WERE involved - it just felt as though the transition itself was a bit more abrupt than I would have expected, particularly on Alistair's end. It's still good as is, and I wouldn't say you should feel obligated to change it, but I thought you might appreciate hearing my take on it regardless.

    2) The other complaint is far more minor; I thought it was a shame that there was never any discussion between Zevran and Alistair about Amell(even in your other fics about them in the same timeline; I don't think you'd necessarily have to shoehorn it into this one, it could easily be something stand-alone). For one thing, she's very much a binding force between them and a huge influence on them, and they're the only ones who can sympathize with each other about losing her or have personal memories of her, so it seems odd that she never comes up directly in conversation - even later on, when they're over the initial deep grief of their mutual loss. (Obviously they're not going to reopen that wound while it's still fresh.) More than that, I'd like to see things cleared up between Zevran and Alistair regarding what Amell was doing with Zevran; the fact that Zevran wasn't sleeping with Amell is pretty significant, especially given who he is and his usual M.O., and it feels like that deserves to be acknowledged - that he was actually serving Amell as a close friend and emotional support, without sex coming into the picture at all. I'd love to see a fic from you in that vein in the future.

That said, I loved the fic otherwise. Zevran and Alistair were both spot on, the various NPCs were interesting(both from the game and those you made up), the plot kept me hooked, and you were even able to jump back and forth between the perspectives of Alistair and Zevran - something that I can rarely manage to do in fic-writing, so I know it's not easy. I hope you write more for them soon.

I loved the Pre-Chapters it really gives me the opportunity to see how you played the game and the choices Amell made. It was great to read that little bit of background to and get sucked into your world. The Pre-Chapter for Chapter 4 made me cry (LOVED IT!!) I also loved the summary for Chapter 11 (one day I hope to have the fortitude to read the chapter, but today is not that day). What really surprised me is how much I LOVE this story since I'm not a slash fan. Thank you for expanding my horizon's with Shades of Grey.
