No halfbreeds? You forgot Garona. Among other things.

oh balls, you totally updated a lot while I was gone! I haven't been keeping up with the chapters at all :(

anywho, sorry I couldn't really do each chapter justice with their own reviews. I kind of have to go through a "well, now that I've read it all" because I... kind of read it all. hah! so, overall, I have to admit, it did *not* go where I was expecting it to. at first I thought it might be like, some sort of hare-brained "Summon the Burning Legion!" plot on the part of the evil warlock that got him imprisoned, and that he had actually done something worth said imprisonment, so it was really a surprise to turn around and have him suddenly be a... well, not quite protagonist as he DOES do bad things, but still a better guy than the ones the heroes are working for.

part of my like for this story stems from how different it is from the current mindset of "*grunt* HORDE VERS ALLI *grunt*" with the RESOLUTE LINES drawn in the sand. a bunch of people with common interests work together, and in a world full of sentient creatures, don't really care all that much about each other's races (much less species-specific races, as with the nelf/belf pairing). it was a lovely breath of fresh air into the whole WoW setting.

When was this originally planned out? did you just do each chapter as you went? how much of it was ad-libbed? I'm just curious because the plot seems to have been planned out in advance, and if it wasn't, hah, it was quite seemless. Cassie and Marduk are adorable together, even more so because they're the quintessential "sword and staff" duo. it was neat to see their relationship (and their respect for each other) grow over the course of the story, and then the end, with Cassie's personal vow to keep Marduk free from fel-taint was very... it was strong of her, and man do I *like* strong characters. it added a rather touching personal element to the story- you can see that she's worried about things beyond just the standard stuff to worry about (i.e. she's actually worried about Marduk on a mental/spiritual level). AND clever enough to realize the impact of that, AND strong enough to resolve to do something about it. I have a lot of admiration for her- I seriously did end up liking her the second-most of them all. plus the number of... hrm, well, "gender-unusual" combos rounds them out nicely, with the armored gals and cloth-wearing dudes. again, it's a bit different from the norm.

fav char though? hands down: Chairon. lawlz, he just had some great lines splashed about in there, and really pulled his weight as a ant/protagonist. I mean, haha, holy balls, it was *AWESOME* when Marduk was like "Can I call you Jaina?" to Cassie in bed (ahaha I seriously CANNOT get over that) but comparatively I feel that the belf just pulled off a few more good ones. he really added a lot to the party, too (though he kind of did steal the show from the troll/forsaken members). critically speaking, I guess the only flaw in him would be that I don't really understand his attraction to Tyrrandel. why the night elf would be digging him, I can get, given Chairon's charisma, good looks, and sharp mind, but I never really got what reasons Chairon had to return said affection. it just seemed like there was enough initial animosity/lack of respect on Chairon's part (for Tyr) that the night elf never really did anything to overcome (at least, from my perspective). all Tyr had to do was just nibble on his ear a little and then the belf was not only willing, but quickly falling in love (even with some crude technique during sex. come on Tyr, he *asked* for it to be kosher! how hard is it to keep it pain-free!). overall it kind of made me... lose a bit of respect for Chairon. my personal opinion, however, nothing more.

taken altogther: I was surprised by how much I enjoyed what almost seems to be a sort of... episodic feel to the story. there's few direct transitions from chapter to chapter, but it really feels like it's just cutting time out, not that the reader is actively losing out on something we truly need to see. the chapters of just Aljei working by himself being shorter almost add to the "meanwhile, in " and really serve to spur the heroes onwards (in the mind of a reader like myself, at least). he has *plans* guys, he's up to something! move your asses, hurry the fuck up! the overall flow of the story, moving from battle to battle with party interactions inbetween (and almost always in some way being *actually* affected by the previous battle) was a nice touch. ending the party with a battle, but the actual story with just a snippet of Aljei starting a little school of his own was an even better one- it's a weirdly peaceful, hopeful, and positive future for him, the villian, so surely the heroes end up pretty good right?

all in all, I very much enjoyed it. thank you for writing this.

wow, I have to say this latest chapter really sucked me in. it's way cool to see someone like Chairon in action, especially when they're stuck between a rock and a hard place. hah, it was pretty cool to see him butt heads with the rest of the group, especially when it became pretty clear that no matter how many tricks he had up *his* sleeve, he'd underestimated what the group had up theirs. that's some pretty cool stuff right there, I really like him. I hope you write more (about him) soon, heh, this story really feels like it's starting to pick up.

huh. so the warlock is pretty dang evil, and plus 10000 years old? heh, man, it sounds like this is gonna need quite a bit of firepower to take this guy out.

an interesting twist. it's hard to tell how ominous this event is. on one hand, the warlock was pretty brutal in his slaughter of the humans, but on the other, they're pretty deep (at least so it sounds) in Horde lands and seemed to be pretty hostile. their intentions are so vague!
