Wow, I certainly didn't expect this pairing. And I didn't search for it either. It just showed up when I searched for MGS.
And you know what? I loved it. It was so genius and well written. It could as well have been happening!
You're keeping them IC all the way through in my opinion. Especially when Snake is offering his help and Johnny becomes all like "Uhm, that'd be cheating!" - So awesome! Snake is really cunning. But I wonder what the support team will say? lol.
