This is a really neat story! I like how you're allowing for character development instead of rushing Thane's emotional progression towards stableness. It gives the story more credibility and I think it helps the reader to get a grasp of what Thane went through. He's obviously still wary of all this treatment because all he's come to learn is to fear. I think a lot of writers (myself included!) would have Thane be a reactionary and act like we know him to be in Mass Effect 2. Case in point, love character development and plot progression.
Like the previous reviewers, I do hope you continue this story. Your writing style is good and I really enjoy the story line you are setting up. Hopefully with ME3 coming up, you'll have a change in heart?

Just finished rereading Picking up the Pieces. At first I was a little skeptical over such a change in the story, but it's certainly grown on me! I love the dichotomy that you've developed in Thane's personality. And the way Shepard finds herself attracted to the submissive signals/postures, while berating herself for finding the same postures hot since they were beaten into him. Even the way you've had the Batarian's turn his memories against him! Quite a lovely piece of work!
I know its difficult to get back into a story after so long of not updating it, but I can't help but throw my chip into the hat with the rest of your fans. We eagerly await the rest of your story! =)

Aww, man! Not cool to leave us hanging! I've been hoping for some new chapters; any chance of an update? This story has a lot of promise!
