There is a lot packed into one small (chapter) slice of this life. Well done, as always. I enjoy the interactions, even though I have no background for this world. Kudos for making it interesting to someone outside the fandom!

Chapter 3
The pragmatic requirements of nobility aren't a mystery for Attryne or Alistair, but that never makes it hurt any less, does it? Fergus is doing his duty as Teryn, and yet I get the feeling that he resents the royal bastard enough to make duty less of a burden. Family can be nearly as treacherous as a royal court.
I'm really enjoying this tale!

Chapter 2
Quieter moments are always welcome, despite memories intruding. Of course, one is put in mind of the adage about never being able to go home. Nicely bittersweet, and well done!
