Many years ago the world was as it was meant to be…and people lived their lives as normal people should. Until the great cataclysm happened…then everything changed. The theories on parallel words and life on other planets was answered…but in the worst way. Large rips in the fabric of space and time, called Rifts, tore through our world and let lose creatures of unspeakable forms and appearances. These Rifts swallowed several cities, changed the very face of the planet, and millions of lives were lost. Where these Rifts opened unnaturally large trees sprouted and grew to enormous proportions. These are said to be the keys and connectors to the Rifts. No one can be fore sure anymore. From space the few satellites left operational obtained photos of what the world now looked like.
Webbed across our world were bright blue lines that connected tree to tree, and rift to rift. These are the Laylines. Over time certain creatures and races took over governments, created new ones, and civilization as we know it became extinct. Territories were made, and Humans became just another attraction to the zoo that the world had become. Finally aitaritary figure emerged known as the Coalition. These soldiers are bread, built, and trained to try and bring the world back into it’s original reality. Though they’re efforts are usually commendable…their methods are brutal, savage, and sometimes misleading. One day a stranger known only as Pidreon emerged from a Rift and immediately took over the Achilles Republic and a part of the NGR.
Though no one knows how or why…he began a series of attacks on nearby neutral towns and villages. Within days the area surrounding the Rift where he emerged was under his control. On the other side of the world a mysterious Rift appeared…the reason it being mysterious is that it appeared and closed within the time span of a few minutes. In its place was a rather odd looking structure resembling an Aztec pyramid. Not long after that Pidreon ordered an army to advance to the area and destroy the structure. They carried out the order with an unearthly quickness…but not before a young boy entered the structure and obtained a book from a large alter in the heart of the pyramid.
Within and hour of the boy leaving the site, the army arrived and obliterated the already crumbling structure. The book the boy had was in a foreign language so it was quite useless to him other than an item to sell. Within the span of a few days it was sold to an antiquities shop. From there the book traded hands several times before disappearing into the vault of a book collector. The only way he could tell the book was priceless were the only words that were decipherable to him…Sealing of the Rifts.
