A VERY experimental fan fic I've been working on. By the time this fan fic is over, there should almost be a grand total of 5 different pairings and 5 different torture scenes, probably even more. And one death scene, I might add. So, yeah. Very experimental. However, that's what makes writing fun, in my opinion, trying out different themes and different senarios. Anyway, enjoy the first chapter of this journey through Ankoku Mansion.

Detective Crescent sighed, eying the GPS grimly. There were few places in the world (especially Japan) that lacked a GPS reading, including this patch of forest on the outskirts of Domino City.
“We should turn back, Sephiroth.” frowned Riku, an intern from Domino University. He frowned at the blank GPS, its empty screen serving as a foreshadowing.
“We can’t turn back, Riku. There have been reports of cars coming down this stretch of road and not returning. They could be connected to the mass disappearances that have been happening lately. It’s my job, your future job, to investigate places of suspicion.”
Riku, unable to deny the job description of a crime scene detective, sat back in his seat, watching the trees flash by. To pass the time, the intern picked up a file full of pictures and profiles, flipping through the info of over seven missing persons.
“The prize winners…” he whispered, silently reading the confidential file.
“You know you’re not supposed to be looking at that.”
Squeaking, Riku put it back, whistling nervously. “U-umm… all those people. What do they have in common to be targeted?”
Detective Crescent briefly looked into his rear view mirror, giving Riku a look before keeping his eyes back on the road. “The targets were random when it came to location and occupation. Some were students, teachers, businessmen, and husbands. However, they all received a package in their mail boxes containing a GPS and an invitation to stay a weekend at a special mansion; a retreat of sorts.”
“Is it the GPS the same one we have now… that just cut off?”
“Yes. I received one.”
The interned quivered, sensing a bit of ‘stop talking about this’ vibes from his superior. But the silence was more unnerving than the vibe, and Riku started talking again. “What were the other similarities?”
“All male.”
“W-what? All of them? That’s a bit odd.”
“And why is that?” Sephiroth was once again peering through the mirror. A delicate eyebrow was raised in question.
“W-well… I don’t expect men to be the victims of kidnapping. I give them a bit more credit.”
“That type of thinking won’t get you far on crime investigations. Men can be just as vulnerable to acts of restraint as women. Especially certain men…”
Riku frowned, unable to hear Sephiroth’s last murmuring words. “What, sir?”
Ignoring the sudden discomfort to his nether regions –the reasoning behind it unknown to Sephiroth- he shook his head. “Nothing. Like I said—don’t stereotyp-“
“Hey look! The GPS came back on!”
Static; that irritating blur that an old T.V. set blasts. But soon, the pixilated picture of the GPS came in clear. Sephiroth –startled from the strange electronic revival- slammed on his breaks. He wouldn’t drive another inch without knowing where the hell they were.
“You have arrived.” It chimed, a red dot blinking over the designated area.
“This is too wild. I don’t even see a place out here, sir.” Riku frowned, looking out the window through squinting eyes.
Sephiroth silently did the same, turning the car off as a precaution. Must be hidden within the woods. We won’t find anything looking from the car. “Riku, let’s go” he ordered, getting out of the car swiftly.
“D-detective, wai—“
Sephiroth was out of ear reach, prompting Riku to rush out to catch up to him. The notion of following the same path as the kidnapped men was more than nerve-racking to the intern.
“Sephiroth, if this is the place that the men are being held, shouldn’t we call for back up… or at least way until sunrise to investigate.”
“Riku.” Sephiroth huffed, cutting the boy off again. “Stop your whining. It’s out job to investigate for evidence so when we do call for backup, it counts.”
“But, Sephiroth, you received the same hacked GPS system. We followed it all the way out here so isn’t that…” the young man gasped, bumping into the detective’s back. He looked up and squeaked, silenced by the irritated glare Sephiroth sent him. He knew to be quiet now.
“S-sorry.”
“You’ll learn one of these days not to contradict me, especially while shadowing me on duty.”
“Yes sir…”
Riku sighed in defeat, following the senior detective deep into the woods. As their figures completely disappeared, a shadowy figure lurked towards the car. Wielding a large needle, the ominous shadow proceeded to pop each and every tire on the car, marooning the guests to their fate.
