Ilumiya propped her chin up with one hand, the other tracing circles over Tamlen’s bare chest as they lay, sated, his hand cupped possessively over the rounded curve of her butt. Sunlight and shadow danced patterns over the nude bodies of the pair as they lay entwined, only the differences in skin tone accentuating where one body ended and another began.
“I wonder if Master Ilen is wondering where you ran off to yet,” Tamlen grinned up at her, then in a blur of motion, flipped her onto her back so he peered down at her instead. She laughed up at him, her eyes as warm as the sun that shone, as she reached down to grab his hardening shaft and guide it toward her. “Like I care? I came here to spend time with you, not to listen to him explain the intricacies of manipulating wood… unless it’s yours…” she smirked then sighed as she felt him fill her once more, her body rising up to meet his. “Two… two more weeks… then we don’t have to sneak around to… to be together… anymore…” Tamlen gasped as she rotated her hips the way he liked, sending arcs of lightning through his body. He leaned down and bit at her neck a bit roughly, laughing against her skin at her yelp, then groaning as he felt the sharp pricks of her fingernails digging into his back. “I can’t… wait…” she mewled, though whether it was in regards to their upcoming wedding or to her impending climax, only she would know. Her body bowed up and against his as he hit his rhythm, her thighs gripping him high on his waist. “Now, Tamlen… NOW!” she cried out, her body bucking up beneath his as she fell apart in his arms, his release following hers. Tamlen laughed softly as he collapsed on top of her, and buried his nose into the crook of her neck. “Now, Tamlen, now? How romantic of you, emma vhenan.” “Shit… you made my mind go blank and I couldn’t think of anything else to say,” she giggled. As she didn’t giggle often, the sound wormed its way into his heart and he lifted his head to smile down at her. “Glad to know I… wait… what was that?” Tamlen stilled, his eyes darting around the field. Ilumiya sat up, her eyes closing as she expanded her senses. “Rushing footsteps, heavy, more than one tread - there’s shemlen nearby and they’re not too far from camp,” Ilumiya stated after a moment, her eyes hardening as both her and Tamlen rushed to get dressed. How little did they both know that this interaction would change their lives forever… -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Get your hands off me shemlen!” “I’ll put my hands where ever I want, you knife-eared bitch!” A grunt was heard along with the sound of a body hitting the dirt, the resulting cloud of dust wafting in Loghain’s direction as he turned the corner toward the racket. “Bad enough I was forced to leave my clan to become a Grey Warden, but I will not let you cow me as you do the flat-ears. I am Elvhen and will not submit to you, seth’lin.” A dark light entered Loghain’s eyes, his thin lips curving into a slight smile as he watched the Dalish stare one of the soldiers down, booted foot planted squarely on the man’s chest, an arrow aimed directly between his eyes. “I see the stories of the Dalish and their fierce nature are not exaggerated. I would suggest, however, that you release the man before he pisses himself in fear.” Ilumiya lightly hopped off the soldier, arrow still at the ready, and smirked as the man ran as if his life depended on it. Before he could get too far, she loosed the arrow and it found its mark - in the left cheek of the man’s hind-quarters. With a yelp, the soldier quickly limped off to the nearest healer, Ilumiya almost doubled over in laughter. If only the man hadn’t been standing beside her, her aim would have been different and quite reminiscent of what her and Tamlen had done just over a week prior to the three men who had approached too close to their camp. Realizing he was still there, Ilumiya turned to face this new intruder, brushing one of her many short braids away from her face. A scowl marred her features, accentuating the two hooked tattoos beneath her bottom lip. “Who in the Creator’s name are you to think you not only have the right to tell me what to do, but believe you know anything about my people?” “Watch your tone when speaking to your betters, elf,” another voice reached her ears. Her eyes narrowed dangerously as she turned to face the man that had approached, his livery bespeaking his status as a noble’s guard. Loghain waved the man off, shaking his head, as he looked down at the petite woman beside him. He never could understand the Dalish’s need to tattoo their faces, and with the sharp angles and curves lining her forehead, cheeks, and chin, he wondered if it was to accentuate her facial structure or if it had a deeper meaning. As he shrugged off his musings, and before he could stop the thought from forming, he wondered what those plush lips would feel like beneath his. His eyes frosted over as he clamped down on that urge, her eyes looking back up at him with a similar expression. ”She’s an elf! I do not have a weakness for elves! Marric, leave me in peace!” he thought to himself. Ilumiya wondered what the hell was wrong with her. Her lover and best friend gone, forever if Duncan could be believed, and here she was staring up at someone new, a shemlen no less, and fighting to keep her hands by her sides instead of reaching up to touch the sharp planes of his face and see if his black locks were of a soft or rough texture. “Remember what his kind did to our people. They are not to be trusted. Do not give in!” she admonished to herself. “So you are to be the new Grey Warden, eh? Cailan was over the moon at meeting you. He couldn’t stop talking about you,” Loghain’s words grated as he spoke, causing Ilumiya’s cheeks to flush a dark red with anger. “I could care less what your king thinks. He’d be enamored by the Archdemon if it were shoved in his face as proof of this blight he’s going on about. I’m not here out of any sense of duty to Ferelden, only to my clan,” she spit out, her eyes flashing golden green fire at the man beside her. Loghain smirked at her response, taking a bit of wicked pleasure at the fact that she did not seem drawn to the young blonde who wanted to be nothing more than another storybook hero, as Cailan was to her. The two wandered aimlessly, closing in on Loghain’s tent, him trying to draw out the reason for her arrival with Ducan as it was no secret she was not happy with her new lot in life, and her spitting vague, venom laced comments back in response. Just as he was about to give her a history lesson of how the Grey Wardens were allowed back into Ferelden, he watched her tan complexion pale drastically as well as her golden hazel eyes take on an eerie glow. His arms, of their own volition, reached out to grab Ilumiya as her knees gave way. Without thought, he picked her up and carried her to his tent, laying her down on his cot. He stood there for a few moments, staring at the elf, his mind burning with questions - the biggest one being how it was that she was here and tainted no less. Ilumiya groaned, covering her eyes with an arm so she wouldn’t have to see the shem staring at her with what she imagined was probably disgust at her weakness. She mentally cursed her body as these bouts had been coming more frequently, leaving her almost totally incapacitated for hours on end until she had regained enough strength to continue on. It made traveling from her camp to Ostagar a tiring business and she hoped Duncan spoke the truth that this ‘joining’ would indeed save her. If not, she swore to the Creator, she’d take his life as this taint strove to take her own. “You’re tainted,” he finally spit out. Her arm fell to her side and she stared up at him, her body still weak and shaking, her skin still pale and wan, though her eyes were hard as gems. “Tell me something I don’t already know, shemlen. I’ve been this way over a week now and I’m dealing with it,” she bit out, steel in her tone even if it was barely above a whisper. “Do the Grey Wardens even know of this, I wonder?” the smirk in his tone grated on her, giving her the first glimpse that this man did not hold as high opinion of her intended order as most others. “It’s why I’m here. Supposedly their joining ceremony will save me,” she said, struggling to sit up. “If it doesn’t, I’m taking down as many of those lying bastards as I can before my own life ends.” Loghain watched the woman as she pulled on some hidden reserve of strength, the strength of one who has no intention of giving up or giving in, and felt his admiration for her growing. Instinctively realizing that an offer to assist would result in a scathing remark from her pouty lips - damn it he needed to stop staring at them - he stood where he was, though he was sorely tempted to do it anyway just to needle her and see the fire blaze in her eyes. “If you’ll excuse me, I need to go and finish the task Duncan requested of me,” Ilumiya stood, her legs a bit wobbly, as she made her way to the flaps of the tent. Unable to help himself, Loghain shifted slightly, making it impossible for her to leave without some part of her body brushing against his. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- “If you’re finished riling the mages Alistair…” Duncan began before whirling on Ilumiya as she approached, not allowing Alistair to even begin to formulate a response. “What were you thinking to attack one of the soldiers here? The Grey Wardens have enough trouble of their own without a potential recruit sending the shaft of an arrow into someone’s ass cheek!” Alistair stifled a laugh before choking it off completely at Ilumiya’s dark look. After shutting him up, she then turned to glare at Duncan. “If he didn’t want a new asshole, the man shouldn’t have tried to take what wasn’t offered to him by force!” Daveth and Jory shifted uncomfortably where they stood, eyes plastered to the ground before them, while Alistair snuck glances between the newest recruit and Duncan. He’d never seen the man so riled before, and the contest of wills between the two was enough to strike him speechless for once. “Maker’s mercy,” Duncan groaned, laying his head in his palm. “Did the man truly try to force himself on you?” “It seems any elf would do for him, and if was one of the wild Dalish, even better to try and tame her. I took care of it in the way I saw fit. I’ve done worse to shemlens who wandered too close to my camp…” her words trailed off and she stared into the night sky as images came swiftly to mind of her last encounter with such men. A sigh escaped Duncan’s lips as he looked at his newest and, he thought, most promising recruit. He only hoped that her vast hatred for humans, and her need for violence to solve her problems, didn’t harm the order. To say that their foothold into Ferelden was precarious at best, he didn’t need anything that might cause them to be exiled again - especially if his belief that a blight was upon them was true. He hoped that some of Alistair’s good natured charm might rub off on her. “Well then, let’s not waste any more time. I have two tasks that I need you all to perform. The first is to gather three vials of darkspawn blood - one for each recruit. I also need you to scout out some old Warden ruins in the Wilds and retrieve a cache of old documents that were left behind. We may need them if this truly is a blight as they are treaties with the dwarves, elves, and magi.” “Let’s get this over with then.” Ilumiya turned quickly on her heel and strode toward the gate that separated the encampment from the wilds beyond. There was also a third task for her to complete, unbeknownst to her companions, and that was to find a specific flower within the swamps. She harbored a secret wish that, were she to find this herb, the mabari’s life that she may save would become imprinted with her own. Then she might have someone with her who didn’t irritate her every waking hour of the day as she expected these humans to. As the four of them left the camp on their assignment, Loghain stood in the shadows, his eyes straining to follow the slim outline of the elf even after they had disappeared far beyond the gate. He cursed himself for channeling his old friend and the man’s weakness for elves, not wanting to admit to himself that it was the woman’s strength and determination that drew him to her. His lips quirked at the wicked delight in her eyes when her arrow hit home, sending the soldier from earlier squealing away and grabbing his ass as if were a lifeline. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ilumiya sighed in relief as the gate to the camp loomed before them. Never did she think she’d ever be happy to enter a human camp in her life, but incessant whining of Jory and the dangers of the wilds and darkspawn grated on her nerves more than the fear that had washed through her at the sight of Asha’belannar. There was something about that woman that sent ice trickling through her veins, but she’d rather have stayed at that shack in the wilds, or come back to this camp and find a way to lose herself amidst the human bodies, than deal with one more word out of Jory’s mouth. Only the Creator knew what Duncan saw in this man, but if he were to become a constant traveling companion of hers, he’d better learn how to toughen up and soon, or else he’d be the next to feel the sting of an arrow. Before meeting the others who had now joined Duncan’s side, Ilumiya paid her respects to the kennel master, giving him the herb he asked for. Even if he was a human, she felt no animosity towards him, but instead appreciation and respect for his gentle treatment of the hounds under his care. She glanced back at the four men who waited on her return, and with an inward groan, she returned to their side. More whining this time as Duncan explained the possibilities of death during the joining, though surprisingly it came from Daveth instead of Jory. She slowly trudged behind the three of them as Duncan finished the preparations for the ceremony that was soon to follow. She could feel the weakness trying to steal over her again and she continued on with determined steps, unwilling to allow it to gain a foothold. As the three of them, along with Alistair, gathered in the old temple and awaited Duncan’s arrival, she tried to tune out the majority of the bickering between the other two recruits without much luck. “Stop it… just stop it! Andraste’s ass, you’re giving me a headache! I swear I’m the bravest one here and I’m not only a woman but an elf to boot!” “Yeah, ser knight, try not to get yer knickers in a twist, will ye?” Daveth quips. Duncan shot the group of them a withered look as he set the chalice he had been carrying on a table off to the side. Ilumiya snickered to herself at the nervous looks Jory kept shooting at the goblet once the party was aware of what they would have to do and the possible implications of such an action. The snicker turned into an outright guffaw within her head as he then tried to escape his turn with the goblet, no sympathy infusing her heart or mind at the man’s death. If anything, all she felt was relief that she wouldn’t have to hear another word escape his lips. Shrugging off the nerves inside her, realizing her turn was up, she reached for the goblet and downed the remaining contents, forcing herself not to retch at the rancid taste that burned her mouth and throat. Her world went grey as she sensed, more than felt, her body collapsing to the ground. Her initial amusement at the thought of an Archdemon leeched away as she stared one in the eyes before everything went black. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Loghain watched as the bodies of the other two recruits were removed from the area the Wardens had corded off for their ceremony. His mind warred between fear that the joining had sped up the taint in the body of the young elven woman, therefore causing the same result in her as the other two men, and an almost uncontrollable jealousy over Cailan’s insistence that she be included in their evening’s war meeting. While his daughter might be content to ignore Cailan’s growing fascination with elves, and the few trysts he’d had behind her back, the fact that he was now focusing that gaze on this elf was almost too much to bear. He’d had to clench his fists and dig his nails into his palms to keep from reaching over and strangling the young king. It wasn’t just that which caused his growing disquiet with his son-in-law, but also his plans to bring Orlesians… Orlesians into Ferelden to fight off the darkspawn. He and Marric fought too long and too hard to drive them out. There was no way he was going to allow this upstart to bring them back. Once inside their borders, the chevaliers might take it upon themselves to take back what had been wrested from them. There was no way, under the Maker’s gaze, that he was going to allow that to happen. His eyes trailed back to the area where he knew she was. He didn’t even know her name, yet he watched, barely breathing, to see if there was any sign of her success or her body’s failure to withstand whatever ceremony the Wardens had concocted. His gaze grew curious as he saw first Alistair, then Duncan, leave the area. Letting out a breath he wasn’t even aware he had held, his body relaxed as moments later he saw her leave the old chapel, her pack slung over one shoulder, her bow the other. Her eyes focused in the direction of where she was requested to go, unerringly finding him where he was hidden amongst the shadows. She quirked her lips when he returned her gaze, her stride long and sure, the movement of muscles beneath bare skin strong, as she made her way to the long table to join the others waiting for her arrival. Even as he and Cailan argued over the battle plans for the upcoming eve, he watched the play of firelight in her eyes, enjoyed every scowl as she unconsciously agreed with his plan, but most was the shock and recognition in her eyes when she heard Logain’s name for the first time. She shook her head, and he could tell she was muttering something to herself with the way her lips moved, disbelief in her eyes at the final battle plans as the group disbursed. He approached her as she stood there, staring off into the glittering blanket of stars above them, murmuring something in her language in a reverent tone, almost as if she were praying. “He’s going to get us all killed, y’know,” she sighed, aware of who stood behind her. “So you’re aware of that. Good,” he replied, his posture stiff as he stared down at the crown of her head. “Good? Why is that good? I just got an extension on my life through that damned joining process and now I feel like he’s tossing mine and everyone else’s away on a whim,” she muttered, her arms crossed over her chest as she turned to stare up at Loghain. “Because maybe it means you’ll do the smart thing and leave before your body ends up tossed on the pile of the others that will amass before the battle ends tomorrow night.” Ilumiya laughed in Loghain’s face as he took a step closer. “You truly do not know what it means to be Dalish. It means never backing down even when you know victory will not come. For better or for worse I am now a Grey Warden and I cannot abandon the duty set before me. I would not bring such shame to my clan were I to tuck my tail between my legs and run, even if I wanted to.” Her eyes grew distant as she moved her gaze to a spot somewhere over Loghain’s shoulder. “It means going on with life even when everything you ever cared about has been ripped from you, when you feel as though you’ll become a bleeding heap on the ground from the loss. I’m not afraid of dying, if this is what the Creator has in store for me. I just hate being given the promise of life if it’s going to be taken from me soon after.” His hands fisted at his sides as he grew angry at himself again, the sadness in her voice making him want to reach out and touch her. He’d never been a gentle man, and this need to comfort this woman, this elf in front of him, was a foreign thing. He had preferred spending time in Denerim rather than at his wife’s side just so he wouldn’t have to deal with women and their softer emotions. He never loved his wife, he wasn’t ashamed to admit that, but this woman… this elf was worming her way into a place she had no right being. He realized too late that she had disappeared from her spot while he had been warring with his emotions, and once he realized he was truly alone in the alcove, he lay his head in his hands and sighed. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The tensions in the camp as everyone waited for the upcoming battle were too much for Ilumiya to deal with. With her health returned, she explored the areas of the ruin that the others didn’t venture near. Dressed in a loose button down shirt and leather breeches, the former being something she had snatched from Tamlen months before, she padded barefoot throughout the mixture of grass and rocks below. She almost crowed in delight in the discovery of a small grotto in which a pond was hidden. What stopped her was the sight of the man who had kept her awake the previous night with dreams she should not have had. He was not Tamlen and he was human. To have such dreams seemed almost a blasphemy, though her body reacted in rememberance of the lust invoked in them. She folded her arms across her chest to try and flatten the nipples that were beading up in the hopes of dreams becoming reality. She must have made some sound of distress or of want, as his head whipped around and his eyes caught hers as she stood there silent and wide eyed. While his lower torso was hidden beneath the water, what there was to see was finely sculpted and should have belonged on the body of a much younger man. Her thoughts turned traitorous as she watched him leave the water, every step bringing him closer to her. He was the first man whose thoughts she could not read as his gaze held hers captive, unable to figure out what was going on in his mind. Within one blink of her eyes and the next, she found herself slammed up against one of the crumbling brick walls, his body pressed tight against hers. “Have you changed your mind about staying?” he rasped into her ear. “I… can’t,” her voice was breathless as the warmth of his wet body soaked through her shirt and into her skin. “My men will not be staying for this mass suicide. Neither will I. Reconsider,” he demanded, unable to keep from scraping his teeth over her earlobe. “I gave… my oath. I cannot. At least I will be… I will be out of the battle…” she gasped as his lips trailed up her ear to suck on the tip, his tongue playing with the row of small hoops lining the point. Her hands found their way unerringly to his hair, gripping the silken strands into her fists. “I cannot guarantee your safety. Maker keep you then,” he growled, his teeth sending sharp stings of pleasure over her jaw, neck, then lower as he yanked her shirt apart, feasting on the bare skin above her breast. She yelped as he bit at the skin then soothed away the sting with his tongue, her body writhing against his and the stone wall at her back. “Wh-what are you doing to me?” she cried, her hips bucking against his hand as he shoved it down the front of her trousers, his fingers thrusting into her waiting warmth. “Having you and allowing myself to feel for once,” he groaned, the feel of her opening to his touch almost more than he could stand. Crushing his lips to hers, he shoved his fingers in deeper, her body bowing out against him allowing him to slip his other arm behind her, cushioning her back from the rough texture of the stone. He worked his fingers in and out of her, his body shuddering at the sounds of her pleasure that he drank in with his mouth. He felt her body wind tighter around him, pressing closer to his, and he swallowed her cry of release as it washed through her. Pulling his head back, he stared at her, a wicked light in his eyes as he watched her come down from her high. “For now, for this moment, you belong to no one but me, understand?” he purred, enjoying the flush on her cheeks and the way she wriggled her body against him. Her body still sensitized, his fingers still sliding in and out of her, all she could do was nod then whimper as another wave crashed through her. “Good,” he slid his fingers from her, eliciting a whine in response, then took upon himself the task of completely disrobing her, baring her to his gaze. He sucked in a breath at her slender form, the play of muscles beneath her skin, then lay her down in the soft grass beside the pool. His eyes bored into hers as he guided himself into her, watching to see her reaction as he filled her. His gut clenched as her body welcomed him, her lips parted on a soundless gasp, her eyelashes fanning against her cheeks as they closed, before he began to slowly claim her for his own. He gripped her wrists, pinning them above her head, as he thrust deep inside her. Her body writhed beneath him, almost finishing him off before he had even truly started. He dug deep into his reserves of control, letting her feel every inch and contour of him as he fully sheathed himself within her over and over again. Her broken cries were a sweet song to his ears and a balm to his soul that he didn’t know he needed, nor would acknowledge. “Open your eyes, Ilumiya. I want you looking at me when I take you over. I want you to see who it is making you squirm and moan. I want you to see me and watch me when I fill you with what is mine,” he growled. Unable to disobey she opened her eyes, the gold in them a fire as they stared at the face above her. Her body bucked up against his as he took her over, keening out her release as her eyes sought his. As she looked at him, he felt as if he were her captive, and with a few quick hard thrusts, he emptied himself into her waiting depths. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ilumiya ignored the strange looks Alistair was giving her as she moved a bit stiffly on their journey throughout the tower of Ishal. She almost, almost felt sorry for him and his need to rush to light the signal fire. She already knew the beacon was futile, that the moment it was lit Loghain would remove himself and his men from the field. She couldn’t blame him for his actions and, were she in a similar position, would probably do the same. Her last thoughts before the darkness overcame her, before the darkspawn overwhelmed them, were of a whispered prayer to keep him safe and a whispered promise to Tamlen that she was finally on her way to his side. While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
