In a small room in the upper level of the inn in Techna, an emerald-haired princess sat by herself in the darkness. Thea was seated at the edge of the bed and wept silently, mourning the loss of her father, her home, and nearly everything she had ever known. She had no idea what the following day would bring, if she and her fellow travelers would find the legendary place of peace for the survivors of Shusoran and Cille, but she took this moment to be selfish and wallow in her own grief.
A knock at the door startled her. “Come in!” she called, using the backs of her hands to wipe the tears from her face. She had expected to see Ayn standing in the doorway, or perhaps Mieu, so the sight of Sari entering the room was quite a surprise. The tall brunette closed the door behind her and crossed the room to stand in front of the crying princess.
“I just came in to see how you're doing,” Sari said. “How are you holding up?”
Thea shrugged her shoulders and felt a few more tears escape her eyes and trickle down her cheeks. Sari sat down next to her, but stared straight ahead into the shadows. “I know that when my mother died, it was the hardest time in my life. I didn't think I would ever be able to get past the pain of missing her, and I'm not going to lie to you and say it will completely go away, but it does get better.”
“But Sari, you're so much stronger than I am!” Thea sniffled. “You stepped up and became a great leader and everyone in Landen looks up to you!”
Sari finally turned to face the wide, red-rimmed eyes of her traveling companion. “You'll be strong, too. You have to be.” She brushed some of Thea's messy green hair away from her face. “With your father gone, your people will be looking to you for guidance now. If you can't keep fighting for yourself, think of them.”
Thea sighed and a few more sobs erupted from deep in her chest. “Up until a few months ago, the biggest problem I had in my life was having to decide what color dress to put on in the morning,” she said bitterly. “But then my home was destroyed, I was abducted and imprisoned, and as soon as I was finally reunited with my father, he died right in front of me.” She collapsed against the other woman and resumed weeping into her shoulder. “My entire life has been shattered into a million tiny pieces. I don't know how I can just start all over again from nothing.”
Sari slid a comforting arm around her shoulders. “You can and you will.” She kissed Thea's forehead, a surprisingly compassionate gesture coming from the fierce warrior. “Don't forget, you have friends to help you out.”
Thea hadn't expected such kindness coming from the ruler of Landen, as the two women had barely exchanged more than a few words since they had met. She flung her arms around Sari's neck and hugged her tightly. “Thank you,” she whispered into her ear. “Thank you for coming in here tonight.”
Sari returned the embrace and wished she could do more to help soothe the distraught princess. Thea pulled back slightly, but kept her hands on Sari's shoulders and looked up at her expectantly. The taller woman returned the gaze, realizing that perhaps she could still offer more comfort to her lonely friend.
Their lips met, shyly at first. Each silently reflected upon how this kiss was different from their previous experiences, but any initial inhibitions disappeared as they eagerly sought each other's touch in this strange building in this unknown land. Their tongues intertwined as Sari tenderly stroked Thea's long green curls before burying her hands in the soft mass with heated urgency.
After several frenzied minutes, Thea pulled away first and stared directly into Sari's dark brown eyes. “Stay with me?” Her whispered request was barely audible. “I don't want to be alone tonight.”
Sari nodded as the petite princess slipped out of her arms and stood up, illuminated by the moonlight that was streaming in through the window. She took the hem of her flowing dress in her hands; it had once been the purest white, but it had become dingy and stained from their long journey and numerous battles. In one fluid motion, she pulled it off over her head, leaving Sari to gape openly at the worn, tattered bra that could barely contain the perfect treasures that threatened to spill forth from it at any moment. As she freed herself from the restrictive garment, the quickly-disappearing logical part of Sari's brain briefly wondered how Thea was able to throw her slicers with such accuracy without her aim being obstructed or being thrown off-balance.
Sensible underwear, also showing the signs of their struggles, was pushed down a pair of sensuously rounded hips and added to the growing pile on the floor. Thea pulled back the covers of the bed and lay down, fully exposed in the silvery light. Every part of her impossibly curvy body oozed blossoming femininity and Sari simply could not resist its enticing invitation.
A second set of clothes soon joined the first, and Sari reached up to pull the elastic band out of her hair, letting the caramel-colored waves bounce down to her shoulders. She lay down as well, her tanned, muscular body a stark contrast to the pale, voluptuous form of the Shusoran woman. Thea watched and trembled as Sari ran her hand from her shoulder down to her narrow waist, to the expanse of creamy white skin located lower on the other side. She returned the gesture and they engaged in several moments of curious exploration before pressing their bodies against each other, wanting to feel with more than just their hands.
Sari's lips started on Thea's mouth, but they soon kissed a trail down her neck to her collarbone. They lingered there only briefly before continuing further down. With both hands, Sari lifted the heavy breast she'd been kissing and took a second or two to admire the large, petal pink nipple that was protruding into the cool night air before closing her mouth over it. She licked and sucked gently at first, not wanting to harm the delicate princess, but as Thea's body started moving with her chosen rhythm, she increased the pressure.
Thea moaned slightly as Sari abandoned one breast to move onto its equally delicious partner. She reached her own hand up to take the place of Sari's skillful tongue and squeezed the tender, moistened bud. Her own pinch was nothing compared to the sudden application of Sari's teeth and she tried not to cry out at the painful pleasure.
Sari could have easily spent the rest of the night nestling against the firm, smooth flesh of Thea's heaving chest, but she tore herself away to gaze into the wide eyes of the heavily-breathing woman, who had rolled onto her back. “Sari...” she whispered. “I haven't felt anything good in so long.” She grasped Sari's hands tightly. “Please...let me forget everything that's gone wrong recently. Make me forget,” she begged.
Sari kissed her cheek and nudged her until she lay on her side, facing in the opposite direction. She curled her body around that of the smaller woman and rested her head on the emerald hair that was splayed across the pillow, keeping her face close to Thea's neck and shoulder. While kissing just below her ear, she slipped her hand around to simultaneously cup her swollen breast and pull her body as close as possible. Her hand gradually moved lower across the flat plane of Thea's stomach and came to rest between her legs. Not wanting to tease the princess any more than necessary, she bent her wrist and gently slid two long, slender fingers inside.
Thea squirmed as her breathing became even more rapid, but Sari held her close as she probed the smooth, moist recesses of her body. Her movements had heightened Sari's own arousal; the strong-willed woman was unable to resist succumbing to her own needs and desires and she slipped several fingers of her other hand inside herself. Mirroring every movement for herself, she used her thumb to find the most sensitive spot on Thea's body. She rubbed in circular motions in varying speeds and through her own tingling haze observed Thea's reactions in order to find what pleased her the most.
As Sari moved deep within her, Thea arched her back as she tried to catch her breath. Unable to escape the electrifying sensations, she moaned as she grasped at her own quivering breasts and pulled and twisted at the dark hardened flesh, desperately trying to bring herself closer to a blissful release. She felt Sari's mouth at her ear and the sound and feel of the other woman's frantic breathing made her shiver even more.
Sari knew the end was close for the gasping princess and increased the intensity of her dexterous manipulations on both of them. “Thea, you are so beautiful,” she whispered into the writhing woman's ear. “You deserve to be happy.”
Her response was only a scream as Thea began convulsing violently as she clawed at her skin, Sari's arm, the pillow, anything she could get a hold of. The unabashed passion of her reaction was enough to drive Sari over the edge and she buried her face in Thea's hair to muffle her moans as she joined her in the powerful clutches of their mutual orgasm. The room was spinning around them, alternating black patches with flashes of light, and the disorienting effect combined with a lack of oxygen due to their inability to breathe normally was nearly enough to make both of them lose consciousness.
Together they lay for what could have been seconds or all of eternity, a tangle of limbs and sweaty tresses and twisted bedsheets. When Sari regained some of her bearings, she reached down and pulled the covers up over both of them to keep them warm in the chilly room. She kept her arms wrapped around Thea for the rest of the night, choosing to believe that she could protect the princess from feeling pain, if only for a few more hours.
***Sari idly meandered around the metallic rooms of the blue moon of Azura. Siren had been defeated and while there were plans underway to move the survivors of Cille and Shusoran to the satellite, she wasn't sure what her role as an Orakian leader would be. She would return to her people in Landen, she was sure of it, but she wanted to make sure she was no longer needed before she boarded the shuttle back home. She heard footsteps behind her and spun around to find Thea coming towards her. There was still a sense of sadness in the princess' eyes, but Sari knew that it would take some time for all of her wounds to heal. “Hi, Thea,” she greeted her.
“Hi.” She looked down and shifted her weight uncomfortably, unsure if she wanted to continue to unburden herself on the pony-tailed fighter. “Um...Ayn asked me to marry him and I'm not sure what to do.”
Sari raised an eyebrow. “Well, do you love him?”
“I guess so. I never really thought about it before.” She absentmindedly twirled her slicers in her hands. “I mean, we've known each other since we were children, and I guess it makes sense for us to get married, but it just seems like so much is happening so quickly...”
“All I can suggest is that you do what you think is right, as long as it makes you happy.”
“We're both going to stay on Azura and help our people, that much I know.” Thea bit her lower lip and finally looked up at Sari. “I guess you'll be going back to Landen soon.”
She nodded. “I'm still needed back there.”
“I understand.” A spot of color appeared on the princess' pale cheeks. “But you'll come back to visit, right?” she asked shyly.
“I don't know. I don't want to make promises I can't keep.” As soon as the words escaped her mouth, Sari felt a twinge of guilt, but she had spoken the truth. Rather than offering an apology, she pulled Thea towards her in a warm embrace and rested her chin atop her cascading green hair. “No matter what happens between you and Ayn, I know that both of you are going to do great things here. You'll both be great leaders, either together or on your own, and I know your people will flourish because of you.”
“You really think so?”
“I'm sure of it.” Sari leaned back and tilted Thea's face up to meet her gaze. “But if Ayn ever does anything to hurt you, let me know and I'll take care of him.”
Thea giggled, for the first time in what seemed like ages. “Thanks, Sari.” She gave her friend a tight squeeze. “I'm really going to miss you.”
“I'll miss you, too. But I'm sure you'll be so busy soon, you won't even have time to think of me.” She took Thea's hand in hers and started walking in the direction of the shuttle. “Come on, you can at least give me a proper farewell while the others are still exploring this place.”
Thea laced her fingers through Sari's and laughed again. “I'm sure they won't even notice we're gone...”
