Bright cerulean eyes blinked in mild confusion as the station doors opened to reveal the deserted commons beyond them. Battling with himself he took several shaky steps forwards; the doors sliding shut behind him. This place was so quiet, with the noise of the station muted by the heavy doors behind him. It wasn’t long until a slight sense of paranoia set in. Sora rubbed the back of his head nervously, shifting his fingers though the dark brown spikes. Where was everybody?! Reluctantly, he left the station building and made his way down the staircase that led to it, his footsteps sounding loud in the seemingly empty town. His hand subconsciously went to his side where it formed into a fist. Something was not quite right. There wasn’t even the normal everyday noise of people going about their business. Everything was just … quiet. No sounds of people speaking to each other, no mention of purchases being carried out within the shops that he passed, no anything! Not even a single bird flew over head. For the first time Sora contemplated whether it had been wise to leave his friends back at Destiny Island and insist on travelling alone to the town that had been haunting his dreams for months. It felt that every time he closed his eyes he would be transported back to the noisy bustle and the sunny alleyways. He had even created his own little life for himself. He regularly mentally played out situations in which he had to fetch this or meet up with so and so. It had become so regular and realistic that he had began to consider whether he really was travelling the thousands of miles every night. When he had voiced his concern with Riku his friend had just laughed at him, mocking him until Sora had stormed off in a huff. Even Kiari had gently rebuffed his ideas on the claim that it was impossible. How could he be in two different locations at the same time? Well, he would show them! He would prove to them that he was in fact spending his nights in this sunny town! That would show them! He would even get a bar of that darn Seasalt Icecream that taunted his taste buds each morning. He smiled as he imaged the look on Riku’s face as he showed him actual proof that he had been right all along. With this positive image stuck firmly in his mind Sora set out on his quest. -x- He dragged his weary feet, his head hung down in defeat. He had been walking around for what felt like hours! He glanced up at the clock that seemed to tower down on him no matter where he went in this place. His deep blue eyes screwed up as he tried to work out how long he had been at it. Well if the big hand was now pointing at the 2 and the small hand was pointing at the 3 then that made it … He nearly choked on his intake of breath, his cheeks turning first pink then red. When he had recovered from his coughing fit he was still in shock. He had been wondering about for over an hour! No wait … the 3 meant 3 multiplied by 5 … that meant it had been … 15 minutes? That was like, ages! No wonder his feet hurt so much! Sora sank down to the ground in utmost despair. How was he supposed to beat Riku if it took him this long just to walk the entire town! He groaned and closed his eyes against the sun. Stupid sun. Why couldn’t it just leave him alone for a bit?! It was taunting him! He could practically see a cocky, Riku like, grin upon its metaphorical face. Whatever a metaphor was. A smug laugh coming from behind him brought Sora to attention. His eyes darted round as he tried to find its source. It had been the first noise he had heard, other than his own grumbles and footsteps, since he had first taken a step outside the station. If they could have, his ears would have perked up. “Who’s there?!” He cried, frowning when he heard the laugh again. He didn’t like being laughed at. Pouting slightly he called out again. “I can hear you, but where are you?!” This time he didn’t even get the self-satisfied laugh, there was just silence. Sora scrambled to his feet, brushing off the dust from his pants as he did so. As he was doing this he caught the slightest of movements out of the corner of his eye. He span round as his Keyblade formed in his hands in an act of pure instinct. His forehead settled into a frown as no further movement occurred. Reluctant to give up the protection of his Keyblade, Sora allowed it to rest against his side. However, he was not allowed to wallow in his confusion for much longer as something very long and pointy hit against the back of his legs making him yelp in surprise. He span around to see what had hit him, his Keyblade once again raised to attack. He must be under attack! His puzzled gaze fell upon a stick that was by his feet. “A-A stick?” He questioned, kicking it to check that it was just a normal everyday stick. Indeed it was. If not a particularly solid one. It was as he was rubbing his foot that the smug laugh sounded out for a third time. This time Sora thought he could make out a certain exasperation within it. Well it must be hard to be the only one to get the joke. However, Sora would be happy to join in if the joke was just explained to him. Carefully. Step by step. His Keyblade disappeared as he bent down to pick up the unassuming stick. “Just what do you want?” He muttered under his breath, talking more to himself then to the phantom chuckler. His breath caught in his chest as he felt a pressure building up around his body as his fingers touched the smooth bark. Numbness seeped into his toes and slowly travelling up his legs until it reached his waist. His mouth slipped open to cry out but no sound would come. Sora took a shaky step backwards as his vision began to swim in and out of focus, hands shooting to his face as he cradled his head. The Keyblade wielder just had time to hear a muted sigh before he slipped into the dark world of unconsciousness. Long thin arms reached out to catch the boy before he hit the ground. “It’s about time Roxas.”While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
