Entwined Hearts
Cassandra Amell sat on the windowsill and stared longingly out at the outside world beyond the glass of the window. She pressed her hand to the glass and sighed as she drew her brows together. She watched the snow fall heavily from the thick, grey clouds above wondering what it would feel like to catch a snowflake against her tongue. Sadly, she would never know that feeling, or what it felt like to have the wind brush past her and caress her face and dance with her hair. She wouldn’t know how it felt to be kissed by the sun or to feel the grass between her toes. Cassandra Amell was a mage. She knew no other life outside of the Circle Tower in Fereldan, having been cooped up in the Tower for as long as she could remember. She didn’t have many friends; many thought she was odd, dreaming of the outside world. But Cassandra couldn’t help it. Whenever Anders, the wily, mischievous mage whom she looked up to, somehow managed to sneak out of the Tower, Cassie always listened raptly as he described the outside world that is, once he was allowed to converse with his fellow mages after receiving a large reprimand. There was however one thing that made staying in the mad Tower bearable…and a small smile crept to Cassie’s lips as she heard the loud clank of his armor. Cassie swept her dirty blonde braid over her shoulder and turned her head in time to see Cullen appear. It had been some time since they had last been in the same vicinity of each other without anyone else around. Cullen had thought it best to keep his distance after what had happened with Uldred. Although she did not know the extent of what he suffered, whilst she took care of him and nursed him back to health, she remembered him whispering her name softly every now and again. Regardless, that was the past and they were here, together, and alone…and Cassie decided to make the best of it. She smiled at him as she trailed her eyes over his features. Cullen looked worried; he often did when they were alone. Other than that though, he looked like his usual self, his copper curls were neat as they always were, his mouth was set in a thin line, but Cassie could’ve sworn she saw the corner of it twitch up into a smile for a brief second. She looked over the rest of him and noted what a shame it was that the Templars hand to wear such bulky armor. She imagined many times of what he looked like beneath that armor, toned and strong no doubt with calloused hands roughened from handling a sword all his life. What Cassie didn’t realize was that Cullen was draping his eyes over her as well. Cullen took a deep breath. Ever since Uldred’s antics, he had done his best to distance himself from Cassie…but as of late he found himself bumping into her on more than one occasion. He trailed his eyes over her figure, bound tightly in her mages robes. Dear Maker why were those things so form fitting? She was teasing him and she didn’t even know it. Cullen sighed inwardly. He was so conflicted. After what had happened on that terrible day, he wasn’t sure how to look at mages anymore. Many of his friends were now dead or so traumatized that they were not the same. Cullen admitted that he too was tortured. Having that desire demon take Cassie’s shape and fill his head with such sinful thoughts and images…could you blame him for wanting to keep his distance? But there was something about her that always drew him near. Although sometimes she may not know it, Cullen was there keeping a protective eye on her, making sure none of the other mages would bother her, especially that troublesome Anders who had already bedded half of the mages in the Tower as it was. Pulling himself out of his thoughts, Cullen nodded towards her and his stomach fluttered at the sight of her beautiful smile and the way her emerald green eyes twinkled. “Hello Cullen…I have not seen you in a while, at least long enough to make conversation. How have you been?” she asked politely. Cullen closed his eyes at the sound of her voice; it was as melodic as a bird’s song in the morning. He quickly regained himself and cleared his throat. “I…I have been as well as I can be. Thank you for asking.” Cassie drew her brows together. “Cullen you have no reason to be formal with me, we’ve known each other for years. Why won’t you talk to me the way you used to?” Cassie knew the reason. There was an unsaid feeling between the two of them. It was dangerous to have this feeling, dangerous for them to even be speaking so close as they were now. Thankfully, no one ever really crawled up to this particular place in the Tower, which made Cassie wonder why Cullen was here now. Was he randomly passing through or had he been looking for her? Cullen swallowed as his thoughts raced. “Err…well it is nothing personal against you, I swear! I…we have guidelines that we must follow…and after all that has happened…I can no longer afford to be lenient with my duties.” Cassie pouted. “So are we to always be formal then, even now when there’s no one else around?” Cullen looked at her. “You shouldn’t be by yourself in the first place,” “But I’m not by myself, I have you here now. So therefore you may do your duty and keep an eye on me as I go even further up to the observatory. I’m going to be charting some stars tonight for the younger ones to learn.” Since the events in the Tower and Cassie’s cunning and powerful abilities, she was no longer a student, but a teacher to others. That had many perks, one of the most important being that she now had her own room. Cullen opened his mouth and then closed it. She was flirting with him shamelessly, but she did have a point. After all, it wasn’t like he was neglecting his duties if he followed her to the observatory…and in truth he did miss spending time with her. “Very well.” He agreed. Cassie grinned and eased off of the windowsill. As she moved, her foot accidentally hit her bag and her scrolls fell out, cascading to the floor. “Let me help you with that.” Cullen offered. They both knelt to the floor and began picking up scrolls and rolling them back up. “I apologize…I’ve actually neglected my work today. I was too busy staring out the window.” Cullen smiled at her sadly. “I wish there was a way to let you all roam at least in the grounds of the Tower, especially the children. Having been ripped from their parents, they should at least still be able to be a child and play outdoors.” Cassie looked up at him with raised eyebrows. “You would promote that?” she asked. Cullen stopped gathering scrolls for a moment and looked into her eyes. It was as if he was staring into sister emeralds. He swallowed and blinked, returning to the task at hand. “I am not so horrible as to lock up a child. It pains me to see their melancholy faces, to hear the cries for their parents…they should at least be able to enjoy something.” Cassie placed her hand atop Cullen’s, making him freeze from moving. He took in a shaky breath at the feel of her soft palm against his hand. He thanked the Maker that he had not worn his gauntlets today; else he would not have been blessed with the feeling of Cassie’s hand against his own. He slipped into a daydream, wondering what those hands would feel like against his chest, resting on his neck, entwined in his hair as he kissed her passionately, gliding down his back as he moved over her… “Did you hear what I said, Cullen?” Cullen immediately shook his head and cleared his throat. He was quite sure his face was as red as Cassie’s robes. He blinked several times to get the very suggestive image of himself and her out of his head and tried desperately to listen to her. “Um…c-could you repeat yourself?” he stammered bashfully. Cassie smiled. “What I said was I’m glad that I am not the only one who thinks like that. Greagoir holds you in high regard; perhaps you could pass the idea along to him.” Cullen shook his head. “I doubt that he would support it, especially after recent events…but I will ask him, for your sake.” He added without thinking. Cassie looked at him. “That is very kind of you, Cullen. I must think of a way to thank you.” Cullen’s eyes widened as he noticed that twinkle return to Cassie’s eyes whenever she was thinking something. Oh Maker…what had he just gotten himself into? They both stood and Cullen handed her the scrolls. “There’s no need, really. Why don’t we head up to the observatory?” he suggested. Cassie nodded and took the lead. Along the way she chatted about various things, but in all honesty, Cullen was only half listening. Many times he caught his gaze drifting to somewhere it shouldn’t have dared gone…but the way her hips swayed back and forth, Cullen felt as if he was being hypnotized. He frowned sternly and mentally kicked himself. He was really slipping up today, letting all of these sinful thoughts cloud his mind. But he could not help himself. He was a man, after all. And she was a very beautiful young woman… Cullen ran his hand down his face. It was going to be a long night… Once at the observatory, Cassie immediately set to work. She stood at the telescope and began charting down the stars and constellations. Cullen watched her closely as she poured over her work. She was truly dedicated. He loved the way she had a little notch form in between her furrowed brow while she was concentrating, the way she sometimes hummed a soft tune while she searched the stars… “Do you prefer teaching or would you rather be doing something else?” he asked her sometime later. Cassie lifted her head from her scroll and tipped her head to the side. “I love teaching. The children are so adorable the way they stare up at me with wide eyes when I perform a spell or two. They make me feel as if I have a meaning, a purpose in this world. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.” Cullen drew his brows together. “You feel as if you have no purpose?” he asked. Cassie withdrew herself from her scrolls once again and looked at him. “Well…not exactly. I should have probably worded that better. I know I have a reason for being here, else the Maker wouldn’t have given me to my parents. I just don’t know what that reason is. I sit locked away in a tower all bloody day and night. I do the same thing every day. But maybe that’s what my purpose is. To teach the young mages how not to set their partner’s head on fire.” She replied with a soft chuckle. Cullen smiled. “Has that ever happened?” he asked. Cassie laughed and stood. She walked over to a nearby bookcase and nodded. “Yes but we’re always quick to put it out before anyone gets hurt. We’re not supposed to laugh when it happens, but I would be lying if I told you we don’t chuckle about it afterwards. It’s funny also because we used to be the ones setting fire to our partner’s head.” Cullen chuckled softly as he watched Cassie climb a ladder in search for the book she needed. He walked over towards her and held the ladder steady. “Are you alright up there?” he asked. Cassie nodded. “Yes, yes I’m fine I’m just looking…ah, there it is!” She grabbed the book in question and began to descend the ladder. Towards the bottom, however, her robe became caught beneath her foot and she slipped, falling back. Cullen immediately caught her in his arms, but stumbled backwards and crashed against a desk, cutting his forearm against a sharp object in the process. He closed his eyes tightly and winced as Cassie dropped the book and took his arm in her hands. “Oh my Cullen, I’m so sorry, here let me heal you.” Before he could say anything, Cassie hovered her hand over the deep scratch in his arm and closed her eyes. Immediately her hands erupted in a blue glow and she ran her fingertips up and down the length of the scratch without touching it. Cullen sighed as the pain was replaced by a cool sensation. As his scratch healed, it felt as if a feather was being drawn across the length of the injury. He looked down to see it almost completely healed. Soon Cassie’s magic evaporated and she looked up at him. “There we are, as good as new, and you didn’t lose a drop of blood.” Cullen smiled at her and then ran his hand over his arm. It was as if he hadn’t even crashed into the thing that had cut him. “Thank you, Cassie.” He said. She shook her head. “No, I should be thanking you. That would’ve been a nasty fall if you hadn’t been here to catch me.” Cullen looked at her. He realized just now exactly how close they were to one another. He swallowed as his heart slammed itself against his chest. Cassie’s eyes were so beautiful, twinkling in the candlelight, her lips were so plump, so perfect…they were just begging to be kissed… Before Cullen realized, that’s what had happened. Cassie kissed him, softly at first, but deepened the kiss when she turned her head and wrapped her arms around his neck. Cullen didn’t know how to react. At first he thought about pulling away, reprimanding her that this couldn’t happen, that they couldn’t happen…but her lips were so soft against his own, and her body was pressed so close against his, though he could hardly feel it because of his blasted armor. Against his better judgment, Cullen decided to give into the kiss. He closed his eyes and savored the moment he had wanted for as long as he could remember. No longer would he have to daydream about what kissing her felt like, his dream finally came true. Cullen placed his hands on either of her sides, before boldly sliding them down to rest at her hips. Cassie made a noise in the back of her throat that Cullen certainly picked up on. He pulled away and broke the kiss to stare into Cassie’s eyes. He opened his mouth to say something, but Cassie went in for another kiss, and who was he to deny her of that? This kiss was deeper, their tongues tentatively snuck out to meet each other, gliding across one another slowly. Cassie pushed herself closer to Cullen and he prayed to the Maker she couldn’t feel what just this simple kiss had done to him. Her fingers snuck their way into his hair, and Maker did it feel good. She gently massaged the nape of his neck with her fingertips. This small gesture caused him to release his own sound of pleasure, a deep rumbling in his chest. Maker he had dreamt of this so long, had thought about it countless times as he gave into the temptation to pleasure himself…never did he ever think it would actually happen, that he and Cassie would share a real kiss. The kiss broke once more for need of air and as Cullen took a deep breath he swept his eyes over Cassie’s features. Her eyes were a darker green than before and her cheeks had just the faintest rosy hue to them. Her lips were fuller now, bruised slightly from the force of their kisses. Cassie moved her hands from his hair, back down his neck, and dragged them to his chest. She rested them against his chest plate and sighed. “Cullen…I’m sure you figured this out long ago from the way I am around you, but I have never been able to put my feelings into words. I know it is wrong of me to feel this way…I know that it is forbidden for a mage and a Templar to…to come together like this…but I do not care about the rules and regulations that dictate how we must act around each other. I have feelings for you, Cullen…strong feelings. Cullen I…I love you. I have for quite some time now. I know I shouldn’t…but I can deny my heart no longer. Please tell me you feel the same and I’m not making a complete fool of myself.” Cullen blinked, still trying to swim through the cloud of lust in his mind from their kisses. He slowly raised a shaky hand and touched the side of Cassie’s face. Cullen closed his eyes. How was it her skin was so soft and smooth, like that of a newborn child? He swallowed and opened his eyes. He knew it was wrong to have these feelings for her, to even think of her in such a way, but no matter how many times he prayed to the Maker to help him forget about her…it just wasn’t going to happen. Despite the rules, despite his oath, Cullen loved Cassie to the very ends of Thedas and back…and he wanted nothing more than to show her just how much he loved her. “I…I do not think I can word my feelings as eloquently as you have…but I-I share them, Cassie. I love you with every fiber of my being. I know we are breaking one of the strictest rules…but I cannot help myself. I cannot make myself stop loving you, nor will I even try.” Cassie blinked back the tears that had risen to her eyes. Cullen smiled at her and wiped away one tear that escaped with the pad of his thumb. He slowly lowered his face to hers and claimed her mouth in a gentle kiss. The two were so lost in each other that they almost didn’t hear the door open. As another Templar stepped in, Cullen and Cassie broke apart…but he had seen what had happened, thankfully, this Templar was a very good friend of Cullen’s. He was also a man that found himself quite taken with a young elven mage. “Um…I didn’t mean to intrude. The Knight Commander wants to see you, Cullen.” Matthias said softly. Cullen and Cassie looked at each other. Matthias grinned. “Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone.” He promised. Cassie smiled. “Thank you for your indiscretion. I should head off to bed anyway, my curfew is on the horizon. Goodnight Cullen.” She squeezed his hand gently, nodded at Matthias, and exited the room. Matthias crossed his arms and raised a dark eyebrow. “Well, well, well, look who’s finally confessed his feelings. So, how’s it feel not to have that great weight on your shoulders?” Cullen blushed. “It feels…nice. So you really won’t tell?” he asked. Matthias nodded. “Your secret is safe with me. What friend would I be if I ratted you out when I’m doing the same thing with Surona?” Cullen breathed a sigh of relief. “I am glad it was you who caught us then.” He stated. Matthias grinned. “No problem, and hey when you two get ready to have sex, I can point you to some hidden areas in the Tower no one bothers going to so you won’t be disturbed!” Cullen’s face became engulfed in a heated blush. He looked down at his feet. “Um…thanks…” Matthias chuckled. “Again it’s no trouble, you had better get going though, Greagoir seemed anxious to talk to you.” Cullen swallowed. “I hope I haven’t done anything wrong…” xXx Later that night, Cassie sat at her armoire brushing out her thick hair. She hoped that whatever it was the Knight Commander wanted to talk to Cullen about wasn’t anything too serious. She jumped slightly at the knock against her door. “Ezariah is that you? Sweetie you can’t keep sneaking out of your room at night. I told you it was fine to sleep with a candle lit.” Cassie stated as she walked over towards the door. Once she opened it, her eyes widened when she saw Cullen. “I must speak with you, it’s urgent.” He whispered. Cassie nodded and pulled him into her room after peeking down the hallway. She closed and locked the door behind her, then hurried over to her nightstand. “We’re going to have to talk by the light of the moon, if that’s alright. They will get suspicious if they see light escaping beneath my door.” She explained. Cullen nodded. “That’s fine.” He whispered. Cassie blew out the candle and wrapped her shawl around her shoulders as she stepped into the moonlight. Cassie drew her brows together as she noticed the pained look on Cullen’s face. Oh dear Maker…something had happened, someone had found out about them. Before she could say anything, Cullen asked, “May we sit?” Cassie nodded. She walked over towards her bed and sat on the side. “I don’t have any chairs, I hope this is alright.” She stated. Cullen nodded and sat next to her. At first they just sat together in silence before Cullen sighed and explained to her what Greagoir had wanted. “He thinks I will better myself in Kirkwall…that it would be good for me…that staying here would just cause bad memories to resurface. I…I have no choice in the matter. I tried to argue that I was fine, that I was happy here, but he would not listen. He said that this was very difficult, that I was one of his favorite Templars…but that it must be done.” Cassie closed her eyes. What a cruel world they lived in. Only an hour ago she was the happiest she had ever been and now…now she was worse than she ever had been. Cassie swallowed. “When do you leave?” she asked softly. Cullen looked at her. “The day after tomorrow.” He whispered. Cassie’s lip trembled as tears fell from her eyes. “So soon?” Cullen swallowed and nodded. “Apparently Greagoir wants me out quickly. I still do not understand why, though. I have been improving, my head has been clear save for the occasional day dream of you…oh I didn’t mean to say that last bit aloud.” Cassie turned to him and gave him a small, sad smile. “Well…what if you asked Greagoir if you could take me with you, since I was the one that healed you after Uldred? Surely if he still thinks you are being burdened with the after effects of his attacks he wouldn’t want to send you on such a long journey without someone to look after you.” Cullen shook his head. “I could never ask that of you, to uproot yourself when you are so happy here. Cassie, the Circle in Kirkwall is much different than it is here. I would not want to place you in such an atmosphere…it is truly like a prison there. I would feel much better knowing that you are safe here.” Cassie drew her brows together and touched his arm. “But Cullen I will be miserable without you here. You are one of the very few people who I can say is my friend. After everything that was said in the observatory…could you really toss me aside so easily?” Cullen shook his head. “This is not easy for me in any way, Cassie. I love you…but I love you enough to not drag you to the hell that is the Gallows. You have to believe me that you would not thrive there. Please, Cassie…don’t make this harder than what it already is.” Cassie frowned as more tears slid down her face. “I’m not trying to…” Silence consumed them both for some time. Both of their heads were swimming with thoughts, both of them tried to think of any outcome that could benefit them…but there wasn’t one. Cullen would leave and Cassie would have to live with a heavy heart for the rest of her life. She lifted her head and looked at him to find him staring straight ahead. “If you cannot take me with you, if there’s no possible way you can find it within yourself to do that…then will you at least stay with me for tonight?” Cullen turned and looked at her. “Stay? You mean…” Cassie nodded. “Make love to me? We will have no other chance…and if you love me as I love you…then you would…so that at least we would have one night where we are not a mage or a Templar. One night we would be just a man and a woman who love each other. What do you say?” Cullen was quiet for a moment as he thought over what would happen if they did lie together. He wouldn’t lie to himself…it’s what he wanted and had hoped would happen when he came to see her. But he would be breaking his oath of chastity. How would he look in the Maker’s eyes when it was time for him to pass into the next world? He looked at Cassie again and noticed the look in her eyes. Maker she wanted him as badly as he wanted her. How could he deny them both the one thing that would make them happy, the one thing they could cherish for the rest of their lives: one night of pure, raw passion that they had both dreamed about for years. Cullen turned to Cassie and answered her question with a soft kiss. She kissed him back, but pulled away before it got too heated, standing up from the bed and taking his hand in hers. She pulled him over towards the moonlight spilling in from the window. “I can’t see the straps to your armor over there.” She whispered. Cullen blushed, but tried not to let his bashfulness get in the way. He watched as Cassie found the straps to his pauldrons and slowly removed them from his shoulders. She gently placed them against the stone floor. She went for his chest plate next, and Cullen realized how thin her nightshift was. With the moonlight, he could see the outline of her shapely body, and that was enough to make him hot under his collar. Cassie then sat on her knees as Cullen propped himself against the wall so she could remove his greaves and boots. He tried not to look, but he had a very good view of her breasts from his angle. He blushed furiously and shifted to his other foot so Cassie could remove his other greave and boot. At last Cullen stood, for once, without his bulky armor. Cassie trailed her eyes over the form fitting shirt and breeches he wore, noting that her previous inclination was right. Cullen was indeed toned and muscular, she could tell that by the way his tunic stretched across his broad shoulders. She took him off guard when she threw her arms around him and held him tightly. Cullen closed his eyes and ran his hand over her soft locks, careful to make sure he didn’t pull any of her hair. Cassie buried her face in his neck and took in a deep breath of his scent that smelled like smoked wood and something else that was just Cullen. She let her lips touch his neck lightly as she trailed them upwards, over his chin and finally to his lips. Cassie kissed him deeply, pushing herself up against him as close as she could. Cullen wrapped his arms around her tightly and felt all his blood rush forward as he felt her softness pressed up against him. He dropped his hands to her hips once again, but drew small circles in them with his thumbs. Cassie sighed, relishing in the feel of being so close to him. She wanted to touch his bare skin…but was afraid to rid him of his clothes just yet. She wanted to enjoy and prolong this night for as long as she could. The kiss broke and Cassie took his hand in hers. She stared up into his deep brown eyes and slowly led him to her bed. Cullen’s legs wobbled. Maker he was so nervous. He had absolutely no idea what he was doing, had only heard stories of the other Templars’ risqué acts but never experienced any of his own, apart from his imagination. He smiled. At least he did have that so he wasn’t entirely in the dark. He climbed atop the mattress with Cassie and swallowed nervously. He slowly laid back against the pillows at her suggestion, and he watched as she climbed atop him. Again he had a full view down her gaping neckline, this time seeing past her breasts. His eyes were blessed with the view of part of her stomach and the rim of her small clothes. Cassie lifted his chin with the tips of her fingers, and before Cullen could apologize for staring, she claimed his mouth in a slow kiss. Cassie settled herself over Cullen comfortably, but accidentally moving her hips towards his, which made him wince. She broke the kiss and looked at him. “Have I done something wrong?” she asked. Cullen shook his head. “M-Maker no…you haven’t done a thing wrong…I just wasn’t expecting you t-to move your hips…” he stammered bashfully. Cassie blushed. “I see.” She whispered. She then smiled wickedly. Cullen swallowed. “Do you like it when I move my hips like this?” she asked as she rolled her hips towards him. Cullen gasped and snapped his eyes shut. “Y-Yes…I do.” He replied. Cassie giggled. “We’ll get there eventually, Cullen. In the meantime, why are you still wearing your shirt?” Cassie had no idea where her boldness was coming from, but wouldn’t deny that she was loving every second of it. She slipped her hands beneath his shirt and closed her eyes as she traced over the muscles she felt. Cassie rid him of the shirt not long after that and, although she couldn’t see very well, was still blessed with a beautiful sight. She trailed her eyes down Cullen’s well-toned chest, noticing the dusting of copper hair against his pectorals that seemed to travel all the way down to his naval, where darker, coarser hair took the place and disappeared beneath the seam of his breeches. Cassie looked up at him after admiring him like the work of art he was and claimed his mouth once again. Cullen wrapped his arms around her and held her close, curling his toes unknowingly at the feel of her breasts against his chest. Although she still wore her shift, the material was very thin and he could feel her pert mounds dragging against his flesh. He smiled against his lips as her hair fell across her shoulders and down her sides, lightly touching his untouched skin and tickling him ever so slightly. Cassie broke the kiss and trailed her lips from his down his neck and across his collar bone. She tentatively slipped her tongue out to taste his skin and earned a groan of pleasure from the back of his throat. Cassie raised herself slightly and kissed Cullen on the wing of his nose. He surprised her when she felt his hands on her shoulders, slowly pushing down her gown and exposing her breasts to his eyes. Cassie looked away shyly at first, her boldness vanishing under the scrutiny of his gaze, but Cullen turned her head back towards him and looked into her eyes. “You are so beautiful.” He whispered. Cassie watched as he trailed his hand from her face and dragged his knuckled across her neck. She noticed that his hand began to tremble the closer the got to her breast, so she placed hers atop his to encourage him. Cullen looked up at her as his hand enclosed itself around her breast. Cullen bit his lip as he felt himself grow even more aroused, and was sure Cassie could feel it by now too. Thankfully, she did not say anything, probably realizing it would embarrass him if she did so. Cullen turned his attention back towards his hand on her breast and slowly began to massage it in his palm. He watched Cassie’s eyes flutter close and listened to the pleasured sighs she made as he continue to move his hand. Noticing that her other breast was neglected, Cullen leaned forward and placed a soft kiss to it. Cassie’s back arched out of surprise, and her other hand that was not holding his flew to the back of his head, urging him to continue his ministrations with his mouth, and he did so. Cassie smiled. The hairs on his chin tickled her in such a sensitive area, and the rough scrubble against his cheek felt too pleasurable for words. She bit her lip and jerked her hips towards him as he took her mound in his mouth. Cullen took in a deep breath, loving the feel of her hips moving against his, but afraid he may finish far before he was ready. He continued to suck on her mound, even gently nibbling here and there as he felt her hand drop from his hair and dance down his chest, heading south. He didn’t stop her when he felt her fingers slip beneath the laces to his breeches, knowing that he couldn’t prolong his time with her for much longer. Cassie pulled back slightly, enough to pull his breeches down to release him from his tight confinement. Cullen blushed furiously as her eyes traveled down his length. He watched as she rid herself of the rest of her shift before moving to her knees. She took Cullen’s hands in hers and brought them to her hips. “Touch me, Cullen. Don’t be afraid.” She whispered. Cullen looked at her, at a loss of what to do. Noticing his confusion, Cassie took one of his hands and slid it down her hip, but brought it back up the inside of her thigh. She raised it further until he was cupping her womanhood, still clothed from her small clothes. Cullen swallowed as his arousal was now becoming a bit painful, in a sense. Cassie took his hand and began to move it back and forth over herself. Cullen watched her face. She looked like she was in pure bliss. Before he could do anything else, she had slipped his hand to the side and pushed it down her thigh. Cullen didn’t even realize that she had hooked his fingers under the rim of her small clothes. He swallowed as he pulled them down, blushing bashfully as he noticed she was now completely bare before him. Cassie shifted slightly in order completely rid herself of her small clothes. Cullen was at a loss for words. He watched as she moved to lay down next to him, pulling him to his side. She took his hand in hers as he propped up on one arm to see what he was doing. Cassie smiled bashfully, turning her head slightly away due to her own shyness. “This is how I want you to touch me.” She whispered. Cullen watched as she dragged his hand over her body before she moved it back up her inner thigh and towards her curls. She slowly eased one of his fingers towards her opening and took it in without second thought. Cullen swallowed, his mouth had gone completely dry. “Move over me if you can.” She suggested. Cullen did so. He watched as Cassie took his hand and began to move it slowly, pushing it in and then pulling it out slightly. “Just like this…just like this, and don’t be afraid to slip another one in.” Cullen copied her actions, moving his finger in and out a few times before slipping his forefinger into her depths. Cassie jerked her hips towards him out of surprise and Cullen immediately stilled. “No, no it wasn’t anything you did…that just…happens.” She explained. Cullen nodded and continued to move his fingers. He noticed Cassie’s hips move in time with them and noticed that her blush spread down from her face to her neck and the tops of her breasts. Cullen closed his eyes and listened to the noises she made, and couldn’t help but feel a bit of manly pride realizing that he was the one causing her to make those pleasured little sounds. Cassie opened her eyes and reached down towards him. He thought at first he had done something wrong before he gasped and groaned so loudly, he was afraid he’d made too much noise. Cassie had only lightly trailed the tips of her fingers against him…but that was all it took for him to release a pleasured grunt. Cullen opened his eyes and removed his fingers. “I don’t think I can last much longer.” He whispered huskily. Cassie nodded, noticing that a fine sweat had already broken out against his brow. She pushed him back against the pillows and climbed atop him. Cassie smiled as she gently took his length in her hand and raised herself only slightly to position him the correct way. Cullen couldn’t take his eyes off of what she was doing and clenched the bed sheets as she slowly lowered herself over him. Cullen’s hips surged forward, but Cassie was quick to still them. She bit her lip as she continued to lower herself, feeling herself stretch at his size. Once she had him fully she opened her eyes to find Cullen gazing up at her. He touched the side of her face, and she smiled at him. Cassie lowered her lips to his once more as she slowly rocked her hips forward. Dear Maker she couldn’t even begin to describe how good she felt, how well he filled her, it was as if they were made specifically for each other. She tried to still her hips so she could prolong the time with him. Cassie kissed him passionately, leaving behind all inhibition. Their tongues tangled together and she couldn’t help but swivel her hips over him. Cullen gasped and groaned beneath her, realizing that all those stories he herd were completely ludicrous. They didn’t even come close to what he was feeling and how he felt. Cullen dropped his hands to her hips and began to move his own up towards hers. Cassie gripped the metal headboard of her bed tightly as she felt her pressure continuing to build within the pit of her stomach. She was thrown completely off guard when Cullen turned over her, surging his hips forward and hitting her in an entirely new angle, an angle that made her curl her toes and cry out. The aged bed creaked in protest off all the movement going on, but neither of them heard it. They were far too lost in each other. Cassie wrapped her arms around Cullen’s neck and gripped his hair as he dug his fingers into the flesh at her hip. His thrusts were coming so erratically now, they kept pushing Cassie closer and closer to that metaphoric cliff. With one final, deep thrust that felt as if he’d touched her very soul, they both dived off the cliff and landed in a pool of euphoria. Cassie bit Cullen’s shoulder to keep from crying out and he buried his face into her neck as her walls clenched around him and pulled all his pent up emotion out of him. With his own grunt of pleasure, he collapsed atop her. Everything around them disappeared. For a moment, it was just the two of them entangled in each other’s limbs. Eventually, Cassie poked Cullen in the side. “You’re a bit heavy, my love.” Cullen immediately rolled off of her, afraid he had crushed her petite form beneath him, but relaxed once he noticed she was fine. For a while they just laid there, staring at each other as they regained their breath. Cassie pushed away her slightly damp hair and tossed it over her shoulder as she rolled onto her side to look at him. Cullen moved towards her and caressed the side of her face. “There will never be another, Cassie. Never. I can promise you that.” He whispered. Cassie smiled as she felt tears sting her eyes. She leaned forward and claimed his mouth lightly. “If you can find a way, someday, will you come back to me?” Cullen looked at her. Though that chance was slim and she probably knew that, he couldn’t say no. “I will.” He whispered. They stayed in each other’s arms, kissing and touching before Cullen knew he had to make it back to his quarters. With a heavy heart he stood and dressed, deciding to just carry his armor, knowing that no one was awake. Cassie pulled her shift back on and walked him to the door. Once there, Cullen turned and looked down at her. “I love you, Cassandra Amell, even though I am a Templar.” Cassie smiled up at him. “And I love you, Cullen, even though I am a mage.” With one final kiss, Cullen walked out of the door and away from her… They didn’t get to see much of each other on his final day, and couldn’t risk meeting that night. Cassie did, however, get to see him as he was leaving. She stood with the other teachers and Templars as they bid him farewell. Once he stepped through the doors, Cassie ran to the window she always gazed out of. She pressed her face up against the glass and looked out of it, searching for Cullen. Her heart warmed when she noticed him staring up at her. He waved, as did she before they both turned away. For them, however, this was not goodbye despite how much it felt like one. In the deep, depths of their hearts they knew that somehow, someday, they would meet again… They would just have to wait. A/N: I hope you all enjoyed this fic!
