Kanen Erro had just about reached the end of his rope. The device in his hands sputtered and whined before all activity stopped and it once again sat lifeless. The long cold metal of its base had long ago dulled as he fiddled with it, now a muddled grey rather than a clear silver. The coil and spring in the back, haphazardly soldered to the base and two smaller pieces sticking out at angles needed replacing after excessive testing. He just couldn’t understand it; mechanically, he had tried every combination he could think of. His bolter should work.
But as he stared at his creation, twisted and ugly from countless attempts to repair it, he was reminded that despite all logic, it would not function. At least not with the hextech field generator he had attached to it. It was almost as if the more simplistic technology of the bolter was purposefully rejecting the advanced techmaturgy. Whatever the problem was, he wasn’t going to figure it out tonight. Hell, he hadn’t been able to figure it out for the last month and a half.
He stood up from the desk he had fashioned into a work bench, and stretched. He caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror. Pushing a few strands of his black hair out of his eyes, he made a face at his reflection. Back home he was considered tall, but after meeting some of the champions in the League, he realized that people back home were just really short. He took another long look at the weapon, then threw it down onto the desk, boiling with frustration. It bounced off the hard wood, but surprisingly did not break. He resisted the urge to repeat the action, and instead walked the short distance to door, pulling it open and wandering out into the hallways of the Institute of War. He had no idea where he was going to go, nor did he care. He just wanted to move. To get out of that room.
North seemed as good a direction as any. He made his way down the halls, not really paying attention to his route, nodding politely as he walked passed the inhabitants of the Institute. His mind wrestled with itself: He was running out of time. He had managed to convince the elders to welcome him due to promise of success in short order. That was 3 months ago. Their words were still rhetorically encouraging, but the looks they shared with each other during their visits told him the truth. The borrowed time he was operating on was running low.
He shook his head, trying to clear his thoughts. Ahead he noticed a figure approaching, so he began the practiced routine of bowing his head, but right as his neck started flexing, he recognized the figure. His heart raced, his eyes widened, and a smile came to his face. “Miss Vayne?” He said excitedly as she approached him. She frowned a bit, but did not break stride “Just call me Vayne.” It was her.
Tight black bodysuit, long flowing cape, dark sunglasses, smooth pale complexion, thin, tight body...yup. Exactly the way she looked in his mind. “I’m sorry, I don’t think I know you.” She said, slowing down as she got closer but not completely stopping. “Kanen. My name is Kanen, I’m...uh...working on some research here...” He knew as soon as he the words came out of his mouth that he had lost her. Her lips pursed a bit and her body stiffened, clearly waiting for the first opportunity to move on. “Well, nice to meet you Kanen. See you around.” She interrupted his fumbling attempts to recover, and continued on her way.
“Wait!” He yelled before he could stop himself. The infamous Demacian Night Hunter stopped, and turned slowly, mild curious anger written on her features. The look spoke volumes: get to the point quickly and it better be good. “I...um...Can I have a look at your wrist-crossbow?” Her eyebrows furled, and she pulled her right hand into her body protectively, confused and cautious. “It’s...I’m...my research is about fusing hextech techmaturgy with more conventional weapons. What I’m working on right now is a bolter that’s...similar to yours, but I’m having trouble getting it to function properly.”
She didn’t respond, still just staring at him with incredulous curiosity. “...So...um...I was thinking that examining yours might give me some clues what’s going wrong with mine.” He added. As he replayed his words in his head, he winced and desperately hoped the possible innuendo would go unnoticed. The pair stood in awkward silence for what seemed like far too long, but finally, she slowly extended her right arm. He carefully took hold of her wrist, trying to ignore the warm and the feel of her, and looked inquisitively at her signature weapon.
It really was a thing of beauty. Pure silver, polished lovingly, the simple clicks and levers belying the mechanical integrity. It really was as lovely and complex as its wielder. He continued examining the weapon for much longer than he truly needed, not wanting his admittedly shallow interaction with Vayne end. But after an interrupting cough from her, he reluctantly released his hold of her wrist. “Thank you. I think I have a few ideas what went wrong. After I work on it some more you could come see it...”
“Oh that’s alright. I’m sure you’ll have it in working order in no time. I’m glad I could help.” She said quickly. She offered me a nod which he reluctantly returned, and she turned on her heel, walking down the hallway and back out of his life. He sighed, running his hand through his black hair, and decided to return to his room. Maybe looking at Vayne’s crossbow really would help him with his creation.
But as he tried to find his way back to his room, his mind was filled not with possible solutions to his non-functioning bolter, but with thoughts of the Night Hunter. She wasn’t just some random champion, she was the reason he left Demacia and sought out the League of Legends. Her courage, determination and skill inspired him to achieve greatness. And, he had to admit, her beautiful features and fit form inspired him in different ways.
Unfortunately, he was floundering in mediocrity for the Institute, and as far as Vayne was concerned, he might as well not exist. He sighed in frustration, stopping outside the door to his room, leaning his forehead against the wood. He wanted to focus on his bolter. He wanted to try to prevent himself from being kicked out. He wanted to think about the hextech gears and switches. But instead his mind played their interaction over and over again, imagining if things had gone differently...if she had been impressed by his ambition rather than bored with his mediocrity. The mechanical pieces in his head morphed into feminine curves covered in skin-tight leather.
With the athletic Demacian champion on his mind, he wasn’t going to be able to get any more work done tonight. He pushed open the door, and walked inside, defeated. Making sure the door was locked, he walked over and collapsed on his bed, staring up at the ceiling, not feeling at all tired. It didn’t seem like sleep was going to come easily either.
He reluctantly reached down and pushed his pants down to his thighs before taking hold of his penis, which had been at half-mast since running into Vayne. He closed his eyes as he slowly pumped his fist up and down, trying to invent a sexy scenario in his head. In his mind’s eye, the door to his room opened, and the objection of his affections appeared. She wasted no time, crossing the room and practically throwing herself onto him, mashing their lips together in a passionate embrace.
His hands roamed her body, feeling her every muscle, every delicious curve, while her hands pawed his chest and clawed at his back. In short order, her skin-tight leather was discarded, thrown to a pile on the floor, and his mouth was on her round, perky breasts, kissing the beautiful pale skin and sucking on her hard pink nipples. Her moans were husky and low, saying his name and encouraging him to keep going.
When his turn came, she roughly pushed him to the bed, falling to her knees between his thighs. She did not waste anytime taking his cock into her willing mouth, slobbering over his length enthusiastically. He reached down and removed her sunglasses, but quickly released that he had no idea what color her eyes were; he had never seen her without her trademark eyewear. He decided a dark violet was suitable for the dark-haired beauty, and he immediately saw an engrossing pair staring up at him.
Vayne slurped and sucked lewdly on his dick, taking almost the entirety of it into her mouth. He sped up his fist, his grip tightening. She removed him from her lips, and climbed up onto his lap, aiming his rod to her pussy, which was already almost dripping with arousal. In one move, she impaled herself onto him, groaning and exhaling in pleasure. He was kissing her neck, she was riding him frantically, her tits bouncing with her thrusts. One of his hands cupped the curve of her ass, the other found its way to the hand of her head, gripping her long braid. She moved her head to his shoulder, panting against him, her tits plastered against his chest. She whispered into his ear: “Cum for me Kanen..”
Ropes of his seed coated his fist as he lost control, his desperate jerking squeezing more out before he finally stopped, breathing heavily. He allowed himself to just lay there, basking in the aftermath of his orgasm, but the thought of his cum drying on his skin spurred him to clean himself up a bit. He turned off the faucet when he was satisfied that he was once again clean, and yawned deeply.
He considered working on his project, but the call of his bed proved to be too strong. He laid down onto the soft mattress and closed his eyes. He awoke 7 hours later with a strong image of Vayne’s crossbow in his mind. He didn’t bother changing his clothes or bathing, he immediately moved to his workbench and took his creation apart. When all the pieces were separated, he began lovingly recreating the weapon, bit by bit to the image in his head. Less than an hour later, it was done. It lacked the majesty and simple beauty of the Night Hunter’s, but it should be every bit as functional. It only needed one more thing.
He turned to the hextech field generator on the table, and carefully lifted it. He placed it on the back of the weapon, and moved it around, trying to find the perfect placement. Once he was sure it wasn’t going to fit any better, he clicked it into place, then carefully soldered it to the base. He shook the weapon from different places, making sure it was going to stick together. It was solid. There was only one thing left. He held his breath as he turned the small gear on the green end of his bolter.
There was a deafening silence in the room as he waited for the techmaturgy to turn on, signaling a functional piece of equipment. The seconds dragged on as doubts crept into his mind. But finally, the device whirred, and the clockwork gears inside clicked as they turned together. For a minute, he simply stared at it. Then the realization hit him: He did it. His device worked.
For the first time in over a month, a genuine smile lit up his face, and he laughed in disbelief as he picked the device up into his hands. The laughter intensified as his emotions overtook him, threatening to turn into tears. He started strapping the weapon to his wrist, needing to try it for himself, partially for testing before showing the Elders, but more for catharsis. This cursed thing had sucked up months of his time, driving him crazy. But now it was done.
He aimed his hand at the wall across from the door, doing his best impression of Vayne’s battle stance. “Let us hunt those who have fallen to darkness” He whispered. He clicked his middle finger onto the trigger mechanism, firing out a bolt that hissed as the hextech generator imbued it with energy. But rather than the simple thump he expected when the missile hit it’s target, there was a roar, followed by ripping and an explosive force that knocked him backwards onto the floor.
He looked up in confusion, and his eyes widened. Where the wall used to be, was a gigantic hole, taller than him, and at least 5 feet wide. At first he thought he had just blasted through the wall to the outside, but as he got closer, he noticed something about the scene outside was...wrong. There was snow on the ground. There hadn’t been snow up here in months. And rather than the well-kept gardens surrounding the Institute, the ground was wild and ravaged. His curiosity got the better of him, and he stepped through the hole. His feet crunched into the unperturbed snow, and he took a look around. Everything seemed the same except...well...not. Like a dream that mirrored life but had small details that were different enough to make the dreamer feel anxious.
The device on his wrist whurred angrily, then slowed until it stopped completely. He glanced down at it in confusion, the green light on the generator dull and lifeless. Something spurred him to look back at the hole he had just come through, so he turned his head to look back at the Institute. But the Institute wasn’t there. Where the Institute of War should have been standing proudly, there was only empty space, a small part filled with the hole he had created, which showed his room on the other side. Unfortunately, the hole was rapidly closing, and by the time he realized that he really should get back to the other side, the portal had closed, leaving him alone in the wilderness.
“Well...Shit.”
