Disclaimer: I do not own brutal legend or any of its character and make no money off of this work |
So this is my first time posting on this site but the story popped into my head and I decided that the only way to get it out was to write and that I wanted to know what people think so here it is. Standard disclaimers apply I do not own brutal metal or make any money off this story. As a side not I thought this game was amazing it did a a lot of different things and did them well. It wasn’t the best at any of them but it blended them in a way that was interesting and fun without taking itself too seriously.
Chapter one: The return of a legend
Ophelia ran towards Bladehenge as fast as her feet could carry her. She stumbled, nearly tripping over the newly broken section of the ancient highway but recovered. Taking a precious second to look behind her she couldn’t see any sign of them but she could here the shrieks from just over the hills. She started running again ignoring the pain in her side where a jagged piece of her hearse had cut her deeply. Her head swam from the blood loss and the exertion of tired muscles. For a moment she thought she might actually pass out, but managed to keep going.
She could just see the beginnings of the monument to the Titans the enormous sword jutting from the ground high into the air. She debated on trying to summon her car again but knew she didn’t have the time to play the solo right and that it would just result it her getting burned again. So she simply ran.
After another mile she saw the first of the fire baron scouts riding on patrol and put on as much speed as she could to get to him quickly. The large leather clad biker saw her running and pulled out one of his Molotov cocktails holding the flame that danced on his finger just away from the rag. Ophelia didn’t stop when she reached him grabbing onto the large pipes on the rear of the bike and swinging herself up grunting in pain from the action.
“Get me to Bladehenge fast!” She gasped out. The baron dint question putting two fingers in his mouth his whistled loudly and two more barons formed up on him and they tore off down the road towards the base. Ophelia leaned heavily on the pipes exhausted and nearly ready to pass out.
Lifting her shirt she looked at the deep gash on left side of her stomach. Blood had soaked the side of her jeans and her shirt clean though and had started to form a crust the hurt to remove. She wouldn’t make it to Bladehenge not with how fast she was bleeding out. The run hadn’t done her any favors. She only had one real option and it wasn’t going to be fun. Reaching down she grabbed on of her short swords and tapped the fire baron on the shoulder with it.
He turned his head slightly to look at the blade and Ophelia leaned in to yell into his ear over the motor. “I need this hot!” He turned further to look at her with disbelief in his eyes before looking at her blood soaked side and nodding. Taking one hand off the bike he held the blade in his hand pouring heat into it until it glowed lightly. Ophelia grit her teeth and hopped desperately that the kill master could fix what she was about to do. With that she pressed the flat of the blade to her wound.
The scream she let out could be heard over the roar of the engine and the other barons turned to look at her one of the wincing. Ophelia held onto the pipes hard to keep from falling of the back as the pain of the cauterization hit her. Her blade had fallen and been lost behind them but she didn’t care she had others.
The fire barons got to Bladehenge ten minutes later and Ophelia could barely stand when she got off the bike with the help of the driver. Head bangers and razor girls crowded around her bombarding her with questions about what had happened. A voice cut through it all in a tone of absolute authority. “Get back and give her room! Summon the kill master!” A razor girl ran off as soon as the order was given and everyone stepped back about five feet except the baron who was all but holding her up.
Ophelia looked struggling to focus as Lita Halford stepped into view. Lita took one look at her and moved more quickly to her other side taking some of her weight. Lita hadn’t changed much in the two years since the war had ended still tall and lean with muscle without loosing too many curves. When she spoke concern that wouldn’t have been there3 before the war colored her tone. “Ophelia what happened?” Ophelia struggled to speak her words quite and slurred between ragged breaths. “Ambushed on the ancient highway.”
Lita looked at her confused. “Who? Who ambushed you? Where are the others?” Ophelia struggled to remain conscious. “Coil. Coils back.” Lita started to ask more questions when the roar of an engine stopped her as the crowd parted to let the kill master on his thunder hog through. He took one look at the situation over his shades and pointed to the bed of the bike. “Get her on.”
Lita looked to Ophelia realizing that she had fallen unconscious and moved her quickly to the bed. The kill master started playing as she as she was laid down surrounded by his speakers. His healing bass notes went to work on the wound and the burns that sealed it. Through the music he could feel how bad the damage was. If she had gotten here any later then there would have been nothing he could do even with the strings made from the spider queen’s webs.
He concentrated hard to heal Ophelia he owed it to Eddy to make sure she lived. Nobody had seen him for two years and most thought he had either died or found a way back to his own time. But eddy had freed them and had saved the kill master more then once during the war he wouldn’t let Ophelia die not after all that. He owed it to Eddy, he owed it to Lars, and more importantly he owed it to Ophelia.
He could feel it when she was healed even though she didn’t wake up. The kill master looked up to Lita and nodded. Lita let out a breath she didn’t know she had been holding and looked around. Everyone was looking to her concerned. Ophelia had said the coil was back. It would mean another war. They were just beginning to get things under control after two years.
Lita had been counting on Eddy’s help after the war to form some sort of society but he hadn’t come back and she and the others where left to figure out what to do next. Freedom was great but they had no idea what to do with it since the fighting was done. They had spent nearly a year getting rid of the rest of the drowning doom that was scattered around and resealing the sea of black tears had taken months.
Then came the news that Ophelia was crying black tears of her own. The pain of Eddy’s disappearance had taken a heavy toll on her and try as they might people still had a hard time accepting her after what had happened.
Lita put it all aside and looked around at the assembled remnants of Ironheade. They had all come back here to keep figuring out what to do. And now it looked like war again, without Eddy, without Lars. She felt herself being overwhelmed again. Two years ago she would have broken down but she had had to step up and she had changed. She pushed past it spoke with confidence. “Recall all scouts from the field. Send word to the Zaulia and call them to Bladehenge. Mangus I want a report on our troops and supplies as soon as you can get it done. And get me the roadies.” At least if the coil was back then this would be something they knew. There was a comfort in that. War was something that everyone was familiar with and knew how to react to.
The kill master had taken Ophelia to rest in her tent Lita would check on her later and make sure that she was okay and try to get more information on what had happened out of her. She had been sent out leading a group of twenty to investigate some old titan ruins. She knew the most about all of that now that Eddy was gone. She was also the only one who could even half of what Eddy could with the music.
Lita walked into her tent and looked to her halberd in the corner mostly unused for two years. She took it up and started to sharpen the blade.
Far from Bladehenge in an underground cave surrounded by magma and the ringing of giant hammers hitting an anvil was a single fan geyser. The green energy of the fans flowing upwards around a single figure standing up straight and floating in mid air. He was a large man not tall but wide with muscle. Across his back was a double headed battle axe and a black guitar. He was dressed in a pair of black sneakers, battered blue jeans, a black t-shirt with the word Succoria written in white sprawling script across the front. He had a leather jacket without sleeves on studded and spiked at random along with two wrist bands one of cloth and the other of metal spiked leather. A pair of black and red leathery wings sprouted from his back and his eyes were far away.
The guardian of metal walked up to the geyser dressed in his normal black and red robes covered in gold rings and medallions. His longer hair parted at the front to let him look out through his rose colored glasses.
“Eddy man we’ve got some problems and I think you ought ta here this.” He got no response he hadn’t for months now Eddy just kept floating there listening to the fans, the Titans, and the music. He was becoming one with the metal and he didn’t notice anything around him. The guardian knew what he had to do to cut through it. He didn’t like it. Pulling someone out of the music like that was bad karma and just plain mean but it had to be done. “Eddy Ophelia’s been hurt and she’s in trouble.”
Eddy’s eyes snapped open a red mist over them and the fans vanished dropping him to land on his feet his voice sharp. “What! What happened to Ophs?” The guardian sighed. “You’ll have to go find out. The metal sings to you now. You’ve communed with Ormagodden, the Titians, and the fans. You’re ready t go back now.” Eddy looked around. How long have I been here?” The guardian knew what telling him this part would do but it had had to be done. “Nearly two years.” Eddy’s eyes widened. He’d left them alone for two years. Left her alone again. He looked back up and just nodded walking past the guardian.
The druid plow was as he left it, parked by where he had always met the guardian when he had come with fire tributes. Where he had met him nearly two years ago wanting to know more so he could help rebuild. A layer of dust nearly an inch thick rested over everything. He reached behind him and grabbed his guitar and though he hadn’t touched it for only the Titans knew how long his fingers moved easily through the solo to resummon the hot rod shinning like the day he had built it complete with all the work he had done to it.
Eddy hopped in and started the engine letting it roar to life and fill the cavern with a sound like the death cry of the great fire beast himself. The guardian of metal jumped out of a pool of magma nearby exploding the cooling rock off him. Watching as Eddy spun the car around and started up to path to the surface the guardian threw him the horns and screamed after him. “Go fucking crazy!”
Authors note: so that’s chapter one. I know I skimped on the description of Ophelia and Lita but they are coming I wanted to do them through Eddy’s point of view I will do tags for chapters with sex in them as they occur. I feel I should tell you that this will be a story with sex in it rather then a sex scene with story in it. Constructive comments appreciated flames ignored. Thanks for reading and thanks to the archive for putting this up.
