Kalimdor was really a truly good home for the night elves. It had so many great forests to travel and revel in. Salferi Moonstriker walked languidly beside her large nightsaber and relished the scenes before her. She had recently completed many quests to help out several people in a local village and found herself slightly better geared, but what was more important, she had more money in her purse, and more supplies on her saber.
Her new cloak was a deep purple, and it gently waved as she walked, perfectly not too warm nor too cold, imbued with enchants and some other magical properties, she had depended on it to help augment her magical abilities for several years now. ‘Feri’s hair was complexely braided and in the shadows it was difficult to see if it was red, blue, or purple. Bright blue glowing eyes, extremely rare for a night elf, she had been told a gift from her mother perhaps, shone brightly against her pale pink skin. Her blouse was sleeveless linen and was a complex pattern of blues and purples, lines with silver, matching her pants. The new upgrades she had received were the jewels that were enchanted and sewn into the dark leather bracers she wore on both arms. Along with several rings and a necklace, she knew that even before entering the village there wouldn’t have been much that could have bettered her gear… But she was able to get some of it patched up.The village had warned her of a great war that had broken out between the orcs and night elves, though. Both sides were looking for muscles and help in the dispute, and although Salferi had fought many a powerful foes, and in groups, fought against difficult enemies, and she longed to pursue the rumors of the land of mists, she decided that the land here needed her help. Elune would guide her, but in the meantime she might as well enjoy the scenery while she would still have a chance.
Cala, the nightsaber, suddenly began to swish her tail, and her fur began to fluff slightly.
“What is it, girl?” Salferi asked, scratching her companion on the head. Ahead of them were more tall expansive trees and shade, but a curving in the forrest road to the left and a gradual lightening in the shade that showed signs, perhaps, of the grove’s end. Not as wary as her cat, but to be on the safe side, the night elf took out an intricately designed dagger that had many runes carved into the blade, and the hilt was of leather and held several rubies.Young, for a night elf, Salferi had first studied how to be a priest, but events in her life had made her decide to study how to be a shadow priest. It had been in the last ten years of her life had been dedicated to a damaging side of priesthood, more frowned upon by Kal’dorei, but Salferi enjoyed the ability to protect herself and those she cared about, instead of just healing after damage had been done.Mana coursed through her body as she readied a shadowy attack or summon for whatever enemy might lay before her come the turn of the road. Each step she was more charged, and Cala became more on edge, but everything was silent. Surely if there was an enemy, it was going to be only one or two, something that she would be able to handle. She turned down the path quickly. Sunlight blinded her so suddenly that the girl almost attacked thin air from the sheer shock of the brightness. Quickly calming herself she soon saw what had made Cala on edge. The Saber growled nervously as the scene that was before them, even though it was still nearly a hundred yards away. Surely the saber’s more sensitive senses had given it away much long ago.It was very obvious that the trees had been manually cut down by someone, as Salferi got closer to the grisly scene of death before her. Many of the trees lay dead, fallen only inches where they had once proudly stood, it was horrible, she could almost feel their pain… Cut down for no reason or use at all... But, that was not what had set Cala on edge, or what made the bile rise in the girl’s throat.Bodies were everywhere. The road was not passable because bodies were strewn across it. Blood covered most of them, but there were also signs of burns and magical effects across them, too. The smell of blood, burnt flesh, sweat, urine, and feces was everywhere. Was this what a battlefield was… after the battle? Elune, what was it like to see a battle? the girl wondered, praying that this might be a sign that perhaps she was not meant to join the military, even if it were to save the forests, after all.The bodies were mostly orcs and night elves, but many goblins and humans and other races were strewn across the large field that had been manually cut out from the large forest. Thankfully many of the warriors had worn helms, so she did not have a chance to see faces of death. But the smell… the blood… The blood was wet, there was no smell of decay. This must have occurred recently.Unsure of herself and almost fearful of getting a response, she yelled out, “Is anyone out there?”Her voice seemed to echo somehow it was so quiet, although that would be impossible given the topography. But, Cala’s ears perked up. The instinct from many more years of the priesthood that she had spent in healing kicked in, and Cala picked up on her master’s intention and began to lead her to where there was a quiet reply. It was far too quiet for the night elf to hear, despite her having hearing well above so many other races, but as she picked through the bodies and went the distance to find the survivor, she began to gather why… At first her breath caught. There was a stunning blood elf with long brown hair, his eyes were closed as he leaned against a tree, his face pulled into a grimace, his hands over his stomach, wearing red caster robes. All the other bodies around him were covered in blood and gore, save him. His body twitched.“I… Hello?” she asked out in Thallasian.Suddenly the blood elf fell forward, an axe buried in his back. Salferi yelped despite herself as she saw what she thought had been a dead troll, was a hurt troll… A very large blue, but alive, troll move.“Yah be finishin dah job?” he asked, nearly grunting out in common. It was obvious he was in pain. Blood was covering his right arm, he had been leaning against the same tree as the elf. His hair was so dirty and matted it was impossible to discern a color.“N...no… unless you attack me,” Salferi replied cautiously, picking her way through the mess so she could face him. Cala was right beside her, and bared long fangs in warning, but despite what she had heard about trolls in battle, and their healing capabilities, he looked bad.He probably had had some kind of armor on his chest at one point, but only tatters remained. His left arm was less bloody, but it looked like a bone was protruding from the skin. Bruises were forming on his torso, showing internal bleeding… but his legs had seemed to have held up fine, and their armor, too.“What happened here?” Salferi asked, almost breathlessly. She dropped down in front of the man who dwarfed her in size, and motioned for Cala to come closer. Out from a pouch on Cala’s side she took some antiseptic and began to set out to heal the poor survivor she found, at least the bone and internal bleeds.“Wha’ does it look like?” he chuckled, with an immediate wince. “Wha’ cha doo’in dere?”“I can’t leave you like this…” Salferi answered, pouring antiseptic on his exposed bone. The troll let out a howl of pain, but he quickly stifled it, and acted as if nothing else hurt as Salferi went on to set the bone back into his arm, and then heal it back in place.Once he had a working left arm the troll grabbed the priest by the collar of her shirt and pulled her face to his, delicately between his large tusks. “I be yah enemy, yah shouldn’ be doin’ dis.”“I was going to join the war… but I can’t do it, if this is what it means… Elune brought this horror in my path for a reason,” the elf surmised, some of her hair coming loose and falling into her face. “What makes you my enemy?” she asked, as she studied the insides of the troll, the broken ribs, the punctured lung leaking blood, and numerous other problems, with the flow of mana from her hands. He let go of her blouse and she backed up some, but still remained close, checking his internal injuries, as he told her, “Jus’ what we be. Yah be an elf, I could attack yah if yah get me all bettah here.”Salferi chuckled. Even if there was truth in the rumors she had heard of magical troll healing abilities, she was nearly at full mana and armed and armored well, and he did not appear to have a weapon any longer, she sensed little magic within him, and what she was about to do would heal him, but leave him weak, too.“Cala, see if there are anymore survivors.” she asked her saber, before warm healing energies began to surround the troll in front of her. It must have been over ten minutes before she stopped, sweat dripping down her brow. “You… help me… if you can, with any others we find. There are no sides now, only survivors.”“Fo’ mah life, fo’ you, I will fo’ now, elfy,” he breathed out a heavy sigh, probably now that he could breathe properly from both lungs. “I be Vanyon'fo, wha’s the lil’ elfie’s name?”“Salferi Moonstriker,” she bent her head somewhat formally, eliciting a chuckle from the brute in front of her. Cala soon had returned and it seemed that there might had been more than one who had survived the massacre.“Why would survivors be left behind like this?” she asked in horror, but partially in curiosity as they followed Cala to the next survivor.“This be war, mon,” Vanyon'fo replied, stopping a second to pick up some large daggers that were planted in the chest of an unfortunate orc. “Yah try tah gather yah injured, but yah leave many fo’ dead. Soon dey be back to scavange weapons and kill enemy survivors. More fightin’. Yah in dangah bein’ here, but ol’ Vanyon'fo got yah. It’s only been hours, we safe.”XXXXXXXXX
