#169 - Crobat
Rock Tunnel loomed like a enormous dark maw before them. Though the sun had reached its zenith, no light illuminated even the first few feet of the entrance beneath the cave’s granite awning. It was a scream, wrought with spine-tingling agony, that had lured them closer than they had ever dared approach this treacherous place.
The sound of bare feet padding swiftly over damp stone echoed from the cave, followed by a vespertilionine screeching that had them throwing their hands up over their ears. Another scream, this one wailing and past hope, cut through their attempts to blot out the disturbing noises.
At first all they saw was the shapely figure of a woman emerge from the dark, the remnants of a green bikini inadequately covering her form. The blonde staggered closer, silent tears running down her alluring features as she held something against her stomach. It didn't take long to discern that she was bloody and panic-stricken.
As she neared the pair noticed the lesions festooning her body and coils of intestine poking through the fingers of the hand clutching a grievous gash on her lower abdomen. She fell to her knees and whimpered seconds before the massive clawed wing of a Crobat shot out of the dark. It latched on to her leg, digging deep furrows in her thigh that soaked the ground with her blood. The woman didn't make a sound as her eyes pleaded for the help she knew wouldn’t be provided, at least not in time. Then, as quickly as it had appeared, the atramentous wing wrenched the woman back into the darkness, leaving a visceral streak as she was dragged along the rock.
One final scream was cut short by a sickening crunch.
