Vampire's Kiss
This story was made for fun and definitely NOT for making profit or money out of it. Trust me, ya boi Mina only sees writing as a hobby and their passion. More important, I do NOT own King of Fighters.
Unreachable Sin. Part 3 of 18
'Riiight~ it seems bringing another chapter after awhile. Well, surely, I won't lie - didn't expected or planned to make that lil ending part a bit more emotional or even in a first place. But recently on Twitter saw one cute fanart and I knew - it look like it was made for this chapter T^T So, if anything, this is the reason why Mina got a bit more emotional and took longer than usual: https://twitter.com/masakariumasi/status/1218624075498541056 . Anyway, like always - enjoy!~

It was one of the most exhausting days for the redhead hunter. Finally, after three days of tracking down, he slays the annoying banshee.
He hopes he’ll be able to relax when he receives a bounty for this creature’s head.
It cannot be helped if he wants to prevent that stupid vampire from getting into trouble. That’s why Iori needed to get a proper motivation to him to avoid it.
Although these blood bags are supposed to be bait for hunting down the nocturnal creatures, they cost a lot.
It’s even surprising how the Hunter Guild can afford to get these.
Some say the guild master has connections with medical institutions. Whether these rumors are true, the red-haired hunter doesn’t care, and he is lucky just to get a couple of them.
Thus, his hard-earned money runs out quickly without noticing it, making him hunt more often for that vampire.
But for now, he has barely entered the guild, and he is greeted by his senior, Yashiro, who asks him to fetch some healing potions because he has unexpected plans.
Of course, Iori holds back from the urge to hit him with the bag with the banshee head, and he agrees.
As the silver-haired man adds, he explains the guild is out of stock for these potions, and these will be restocked in a week.
However, Yashiro mentions that the closest place to get them would be the witch’s shop, which is outside the city.
In any case, Iori hopes that maybe he’ll find something better for Kyo.
Thus, when he gets that sweet bounty money, he sets on a new journey.
After some time, he reaches the beginning of the city and the main road with aligned mixed sorts of trees on both sides.
However, this area is still barely inhabited by humans, and these singly wooden huts are far from each other on the field. In some places, behind the line of trees, there are traces of nature with small forests and local fauna that hunt animals that are foolish enough to wander in the forest.
Nevertheless, the redhead follows the main road longer until the first signs of the civilization in the distance.
Although it is only a lonely gas station that is open at any time of the day and waiting for any visitors.
According to the plan, soon, should be visible the industrial part of the city.
However, something strange catches the vampire hunter’s eye.
It seems another hunter is dragging his caught target, who looks awfully familiar to one trouble-maker vampire.
But why does the brunette not resist? He looks fine with no heavy wounds or doesn’t mind being tied up.
Whether it is Kyo or not, Iori is determined to track down the other hunter in white.
After fifteen minutes of following that man, the red-haired hunter notices he stops for a good minute to open the storage with his dragged unfortunate creature.
Hell, just what is that hunter up to? Iori observes from a distance, hoping his presence won’t be noticed. But if anything happens, he can always rely on his trustworthy whip and put it to good use.
Meanwhile, the blonde hunter rests the vampire in the corner.
After picking something tiny from his coat pocket, he stares at Kyo like a viper looking down at its caught mouse.
Fuck, if only I could move my body... The brunette indifferently stares at the hunter walking to the center of the storage.
Elegantly turning toward the vampire’s side, Kain proudly announces. “Soon, I’ll finish your misery. However, do not worry. Your soul will not perish and you’ll become a part of my collection that serves me for eternity.”
When the blonde bends down, he draws a small circle with a crayon that grows bigger and more complicated each minute.
That’s right, this transmutation circle contains ancient symbols and runes.
After a while, the magic circle is done, and Kain slowly approaches the vampire. “Just a bit, vampire. The preparations for the ritual are done and you are the only missing piece.”
No matter how hard Kyo tries to shut his eyes, his calm amber eyes are open.
He understands his demise is inevitable, but he doesn’t want to see his last moments before being sent to the world of darkness.
Unfortunately for him, the hunter doesn’t ask about his death wish and continues carrying him to the center of the transmutation circle.
After Kain lies Kyo down, he lifts his hands above his head and ties them with a sturdy yet damped rope.
Damn, that rope is soaked in a holy water! The brunette feels the burning pain against his exposed wrists.
Meanwhile, the sadistic blonde ignores his silent suffering and stabs his wrists with the dagger.
Despite the nocturnal creature’s calm face, inside his head, he screams louder than any slaughtered beast.
As Kain gets up and observes his target, he smirks. “Just in case if you decide to run away.”
After drawing his broadsword, he points the naked blade at the vampire.
When he is about to cast a spell, a whip crack echoes through the storage.
Suddenly, the sharp pain on his wrist makes the blonde flinch and drop his trustworthy weapon.
When he turns to see who cowardly attacked him, he grasps the twitching wrist and hisses. “You little piece of shit…”
Upon noticing the culprit for his injury, he makes an entertained look. “My, it seems we have unexpected guests. How long have you been here?”
Meanwhile, the red-haired hunter takes a step closer and lowers the hand that holds the whip.
For now, he fixates his eyes on the vampire before staring at Kain with his unpleasant face.
Despite Iori’s piercing gaze, he remains unaffected and chuckles. “You’re too slow, hunter. I caught this vampire first. That’s why I can do whatever I want with him. So, why don’t you find another target?”
When the red-haired hunter lifts his whip around his chest level, he stretches it without removing his eyes from his opponent.
However, Kain only mockingly comments. “You sure are a stubborn fellow. However, if you behave well, I’ll let you have his body. After all, I only need his soul.”
As the blonde hunter walks with confidence to him, he adds. “Although it’s too late to train him as your slave. He won’t be able to move ever again! So, if you were interested in that, that’s too bad. However, you can still use his body.”
That’s it! It is the final drop of Iori’s patience, and he growls at his opponent. “Who allowed you to touch this vampire?”
Thus, without a warning, he strikes into Kain’s guts.
A moment later, the blonde slowly withdraws while coughing.
“… You arrogant brat!” He addresses through groaning.
While Kyo only observes this situation, he can tell that the aura around Iori has changed.
That’s not an ordinary piercing look. No, it looks like the hunter could kill his opponent without hesitation. His exterior is calm, but inside, one can sense the burning rage of a wild beast.
Iori frowns and addresses him. “Scums like you never change, Kain. No wonder why you have been banished from the Hunter Guild. However, I’m surprised that you haven’t learned your lesson and continue your messed up research. In that case, I should remind your place!”
Lastly, he unleashes several heavier slashes at his opponent, who stands still and keeps his smug look.
However, seeing the blonde’s wounds quickly heal makes Iori briefly panic.
As Kain stands up, he mocks the vampire hunter. “Are you still one of chief’s loyal dogs? How does it feel being manipulated by that old man? Hmph, maybe it must feel nice when you don’t have to have your own mind...”
After closing his eyes, he changes the subject. “Hunter, do you think your whip is only enhanced by alchemy? A brat like you wouldn’t be able to strike a vampire with such a toy! Have you ever wondered why does your whip work like this?”
When he approaches the poor vampire with noble elegance, he explains. “A Soul of Tainted, you probably have heard this term. Have you ever wondered what the guild master does to these creatures? After a successful ritual, their soul is extracted and then it is used to enhance weapons. However, even their organs can not only be used as charms. If you consume them, you’ll become more powerful! That foolish old man was not happy when anyone else discovered this knowledge. So, it was much easier for him to eliminate anyone who is a threat to him.”
One thing is for sure, Yagami cannot only stand and listen to this madman’s speech any longer.
When Kain is about to reach his target, a whip cracking echoes through empty storage, and the blonde hunter screams in pain.
While Kain’s face grimaces in pain, he holds his broken and twitching wrist.
Although Iori is indifferent toward him and strictly replies. “The power, you say? What kind of bullshit is that?! You were caught by experimenting on humans in the master room! Your greed knows no limits…”
When he lowers his whip, he adds. “I’ll let you go with a warning. Just never let me see you ever again or else you are finished.”
For now, Iori impatiently waits for his next move.
However, Kain keeps his cool and proudly looks at the redhead hunter.
After lifting his fist, he relaxes his gloved palm, and a bright blue flame dances on it.
As he curves a twisted smile, he announces in a calm tone. “My, I could finish you right here and right now. But it would be such a waste, wouldn’t you agree? However, I expect much more from you next time, hunter.”
When Kain clenches his palm, the little fire dims instantly.
Lastly, making a delightful look, he passes him and, before taking his leave, adds. “Mark my words, this vampire will only lead you to your doom. So, I suggest you kill his weakling and end his suffering. It’s too late for him.”
After the blonde hunter leaves, Iori closes his eyes and sighs in relief.
Slowly opening his eyes, he gets closer to the brunette.
Meanwhile, Kyo can only observe how, step by step, the vampire hunter approaches him.
At that moment, he cannot tell what is inside Iori, who keeps his poker face while deeply and slowly breathing.
As the redhead kneels beside the vampire, he uses one of his knives to cut the rope. “Just look at yourself. Ending up like this... How could you let this happen?”
Gripping the dagger that pierces Kyo’s wrists, he asks. “Why didn’t you do anything?”
Surely, feeling like getting scolded somehow upsets the brunette. Despite that, his face remains indifferent and calm.
Now, he pulls out the dagger and tosses it away.
However, he doesn’t understand how this stupid vampire is so chill, even if he could have been killed or why he is so anxious about it.
Just watching how the burnt by the holy water wrists and the stabbing wounds heal, along with knowing this vampire was snatched from him, makes the hunter blame himself.
Hell, it was a miracle that he spotted Kyo by the pure accident.
Meanwhile, the brunette still lies and sees the hunter’s cracked poker face.
Is Yagami worried about me? But, then, why? I’m just an ordinary target for him, right? So, this human shouldn’t attach to a creature like me. Kyo thinks.
Now, with his hung head and without wanting to face the vampire, Iori gets up and addresses him in a sensibly frustrated voice. “… Enough of that. Stand up already.”
No matter how long he waits for the brunette’s response, he receives none.
Why the hell he is so stubborn? The redhead facepalms and tightens his lips.
When he takes a deep breath and turns toward the vampire, he notices that he still lies on the floor without bothering to move even a bit.
Surely, it makes Iori clench his fists and shake his head.
Lowering his head, he speaks in a shaky, demanding tone. “Just drop that acting already!”
No response. Kyo keeps the same calm expression and doesn’t bother to do anything.
Lastly, Iori kneels again and lets his frustration out. “Enough! Stop joking already!”
Meanwhile, the vampire is scared, even if there is nothing he can do about it.
For now, Iori narrows his gaze. If this stupid vampire refuses to get up, it cannot be helped that he needs some help.
Suddenly, he lifts Kyo like a kitten without caring how it looks from the side.
Straightening his knees, he slowly stands up with the nocturnal creature, hoping it will work.
However, once the redhead releases him, Kyo drops like a rag-doll on the ground.
It makes Iori feel useless and hurts him without knowing what is wrong with this vampire. But he brushes away any thoughts about Kyo dying on him.
Perhaps the vampire’s suffering is so bad that he cannot move or say anything. Just what the hell happened to him before he showed up? Or so Iori asks himself.
Suddenly, his knees give up, and with no second thought, he wraps his arms around the brunette and pulls him close.
At the moment, Kyo feels through his clothes how the hunter’s fingertips sink deep into him and how this man rests his head on his shoulder.
But he doesn’t mind such an unexpected gesture from the hunter.
Maybe it’s okay to stay like this for a bit longer. The brunette wonders.
More so, he feels Iori trembling like a leaf while shakily respiring.
It is the first time the vampire sees the fearsome hunter so fragile and vulnerable. If he could move his arms, he would try comforting this man.
Either way, there is no need for words, and both remain silent like this for a while.
Eventually, Kyo senses how his partner is calming down and relaxes his palms.
A moment later, the hunter’s arm is around the brunette’s shoulders while the other wanders to the back side of his thighs.
Suddenly, Iori stands up and carries the vampire like a wounded princess.
Of course, if Kyo could, he would frown and punch him for this behavior.
Despite that, Iori keeps his serious look and says. “It seems there’s only one person who can help us now. So, do not dare to die on me before that.”
Even if, deep inside, the nocturnal creature is embarrassed, he is curious. Why is Yagami doing all this, and who is that mysterious person he is talking about?
It’s difficult to admit it, but now he has no choice but to rely on Iori and see how this will turn out.
