“You look so different, you’ve grown up so much in so little time” whispered Cyrion as he reached forward and took Kirk’s face in his hands. He had seen his son at the warehouse but there had been so much going on that it was hardly the time for the two to catch up. He wasn’t even sure it was his son back then; the handsome face of his son shifting rapidly from normal to ferocious and bestial and then back, and then killing that Tevinter so brutally.
“it’s good to see you too father, I’ve missed you so much, I’ve missed everyone so much. “
Cyrion smiled warmly at Kirk as his hands slid from his face to rest on his shoulder and rubbed them with care, though it was not like Kirk could actually feel it through his heavy chainmail, still he appreciated the warmth and love of the gesture.
“It pains me, son, you having to live your life like this now, surrounded by so much violence and danger. I dreamed of a simple life for you; that you would get married, have a family of your own… grandchildren.”
Kirk’s brow creased with discontent, eyes woeful and he tightened his lips, he felt like he had disappointed or betrayed his father, even though he knew he hadn’t, and he knew his father didn’t feel that way.
“I’m sorry; I didn’t mean to put that on you”
“No father, it’s alright, I understand, but you need to know I wouldn’t have been able to live that anyway. Even if the wedding had gone as planned and everything with Vaughan not occurred, I could not live the life you dreamed of”
“Kirk, what are you talking about?”
“Father, my time traveling has forced me to grow; I’m not the same Kirk who agreed to marriage even though he knew it would be disastrous.”
“Disastrous? Come now son, it wouldn’t have been that bad, I think you might be exaggerating”
“I’m not exaggerating. Father, I can’t lie to you any more, I’m not the kind of man you think I am, I’m… not attracted to women”
“You’re not attracted to women?”
“At all”
“What do you mean? If you’re not attracted to women then does that mean-?”
“Yes, I’m attracted to men. Only men”
“Oh Kirk, I can’t believe…”
“I’m sorry, father”
Cyrion’s hands slipped from Kirk’s shoulders only to wrap around his son in a tight hug.
“Don’t ever apologize for who you are, I wish you had told me earlier”
Kirk’s eyes widened as he began to cry, his own arms slipping around his father and returning the hug; he was finally home. Soris listened silently to the exchange from the next room over, chewing his lips as he waited, troubled incessantly by something he couldn’t put his finger on, standing after he heard the door close as Cyrion left the house after bidding his son to wipe his tears and stay here with Soris while he went for a walk to clear his head.

Another one written on Father's Day. There's a bit of personal drama tied up into this, but ehh, you don't really want to know or care about that which is cool. About 4 more chapters to the end of the Origins portion not counting Pt. II of this which is being proofread now. Man so much for the non-stop sexual adventure I planned when I started writing Wedding Day.
