Part 3 - "Heading For New Pastures"

Sparkling clean walls. Hands gripped his arms, dragging him along the floor. People in blue and yellow jumpsuits all watch him, some with regret, some with indifference. He's thrown into a room, where a burly man lifts him up and slams him down onto a table. Straps keep his arms and legs in place. He struggles, but to no avail. A man in a dark trench coat and a gasmask approaches him from one side of the room, a large syringe in his hands, filled with a green fluid of sorts that glowed gently. He shouts in fear as the man lowers the syringe to his right wrist, preparing to insert the needle into a vein.
Kid cried out in fear, bolting up into a sitting position. His body was covered in a cold sweat. He was panting. "Kid, are you okay?" Dawn asked worriedly. "You woke me up...You started freaking out, you were swinging your arms all over the place..." Kid's eyes were wide, his body trembling slightly. He said nothing, the image of the man with the gasmask and the glowing syringe filling every nook and cranny of his mind. Dawn sat up beside him. He closed his eyes, raising his hands to his face, covering his eyes for a few moments before feeling up slightly, running his hands along his short hair. "Kid...?" Dawn said softly. Kid looked over to her sadly. "Sorry..." He said quietly. Dawn got closer to him and put her arms around him. "It's okay...I'm here..." She whispered. Kid closed his eyes, leaning against her softly. The sun had barely risen. Kid was feeling rather sleepy still, Dawn even more so. They laid back down in the bed, Dawn asking "Will you have trouble falling back asleep?..." Kid nodded gently. "I th-think so..." He said gently.
Dawn said "I remember a song my mom used to sing when I was little...Not really much of a lullaby, but it might help you sleep...If you want me to sing it, that is..." Kid nodded gently. "I think I'd like th-that..." He said quietly. Dawn smiled. "Alright...I'm not much of a singer though, so...Try not to laugh..." Kid smiled. She took in a breath and slowly began to speak. "The summer wind, came blowin' in, from across the sea...It lingered there, to touch your hair, and walk with me..." Kid was rather surprised. Her voice was gentle and loving, and it was singing with wonderful clarity and feeling, even in it's soft tone and low volume. "All summer long, we sang a song, and then we strolled that golden sand...Two sweethearts and the summer wind..."
Kid closed his eyes, coming a little closer to her, feeling her warm skin on his. Her warning of her not being much of a singer seemed ridiculous, her voice was wonderful. "Like painted kites, those days and nights, they went flying by...The world was new, beneath the blue umbrella sky...Then softer than, a piper man, one day it called to you...I lost you, I lost you to the summer wind..." Kid felt himself beginning to slip into a deep sleep as Dawn pressed a kiss to his forehead. She seemed to sense that he was falling asleep rapidly. Within moments, his mind had descended into darkness, a deep sleep overtaking him. Dawn smiled gently. She was surprised that her little song had put Kid to sleep, she had never had a very high opinion of her own voice. She felt sleep tug at her mind as well, Dawn closing her eyes and relaxing in her bed, quickly falling asleep along with Kid, the two of them holding one another close.
Ace awoke slowly, grimacing as a severe headache began rocking her skull. Penelope sat up as Ace woke up, Ace rubbing Penelope's head for a moment before standing up and stretching. She grabbed the drugs the man she had killed the night before had had on him, slipping them into her pockets. She grabbed his rifle and, noticing that it had no strap to it, simply carried it in her hands, pushing her sawed-off shotgun into one of the pockets of her leather jacket. She began to leave the building, Penelope following her. Ace walked down a street by the building she had left, wondering where she could start her search for Dawn and Kid. She walked for a few more moments before she noticed some junkies were talking excitedly. Normally she would have ignored it, but they didn't look high, so what they were talking about may have been coherent. Ace walked by them, picking up a few words. "...Yeah, I heard, Ruby-Red is back in town!..."
"I remember her last movie, holy shit, I practically jizzed buckets!..." Ace stopped and narrowed her eyes. She didn't know the name "Ruby-Red", but Dawn had surely entered New Reno not long before Ace had, and it didn't seem like a coincidence that this "Ruby-Red" character was back in town at the same time as Dawn. It may have been two completely different people, it was totally possible, but Ace had a feeling about the name, it was hard for her to explain, it was a feeling in her gut. She turned to the two junkies. "Hey, you two!" She said, walking back over to them. They looked at her. They were both older men with graying beards. "I heard you mention a "Ruby-Red" person." They both nodded, one of them saying "So?" Ace looked at him. "Mind telling me what she looks like?" The other one smirked and said "I can, sure enough. I remember her like it was yesterday...Real creamy skin, beautiful enough to make a supermutant give up killin' just for a touch or two...Long, black hair, real sexy too...She has these huge titties too, I mean wow...Had a pretty sweet ass too, I gotta say...All in all, probably one of the sexiest things to walk the wastes!"

The both of them chuckled. "Well, I heard she got her start dancing at an "establishment" the Wrights opened up, but that didn't last long before she got into porn!" Ace raised an eyebrow. "Porn?" She repeated. "You don't say!" She added. The other nodded with a grin. "Yup, she's done tons of movies, and with a body like her's, I don't blame her for usin' it." Ace smiled more and said "Hmmm...Porn movies...I suppose that'd be down at the Golden Globes studio, right?" The first nodded. "Of course, where else?" The second said. Ace nodded and said "You think she'd be down there right now?" They both nodded. "All the biggest money-makers get personal rooms there, and unless she has somewhere better to be in the morning, I'd bet that she'd be there!" Ace nodded, nearly grinning. "You know, I remember, way back when she just started makin' movies, she actually did a bit of boxing, too! Imagine! She was fuckin' good too, she knocked out the Hurricane, you know!" "Yer shittin' me! I heard she was a Made Man for the Wrights, but that's about it, aside from the movies...But boxing?! Damn, that's impressive!" Ace left as the two junkies continued chatting, grinning darkly to herself. She had a destination in mind now, and it wouldn't take her long to reach it.
Marv and Heather awoke at nearly the same time. Marv groaned slightly, opening his eyes. Heather's cute little face looked back to his, Heather blinking twice rapidly as he looked into her eyes. He looked at her for a few moments before half-closing his eyes slightly. "Heather, why are you on top of me?" Heather smiled a little and blushed faintly. "Because you're under me?" Marv made a slightly annoyed face. "That's not a real answer. Tell me, why?" Heather lost her blush and her smile, looking down to his chest quietly for a few moments. She was sprawled on top of him, but because of her much smaller size, she didn't cause any discomfort to Marv. Her feet barely reached his knees, and her hands hardly reached out to his elbows. "Well...Because..." She started out, stopping. Marv raised an eyebrow as another moment of silence passed between them. "...I was having a hard time sleeping...I kept hearing dogs barking in the night...It was really scary!...I just...I don't know..."
She stopped talking, bitting her bottom lip. Marv smiled a little and raised a hand to her back, giving her a few light pats to comfort her, lowering his hand back by his side. "Okay, I get it, you were scared. That's not such a big deal." Heather rested her chin down on his chest, looking down to his throat, saying "Yeah...I guess..." Marv smiled more and said "Come on, get up, Modoc is hardly an hour or two away, we can make it easily." Heather nodded and got up from him. She immediately gained a curious face. "What's that smell?" She asked. Marv didn't know what she was talking about. He sat up, quickly standing up afterwards, suddenly noticing what she was talking about. It was the faint smell of smoke. Marv walked along from the small depression they had been sleeping in, walking back up to the top, looking out on the horizon. His jaw dropped slightly, his eyes widening a little.
A great fire blazed on the distance, smoke filling the sky. It was coming from the direction of Modoc. Heather got up beside him, looking out in the same direction as he did, seeing the same sight. She blinked a few times. "Marv...?" She said softly. Marv looked over to her. "I...I guess Modoc is out of the question..." He looked back to the great inferno on the horizon. "What the hell could have happened?..." He muttered. Heather slowly reached up and took one of his hands. "...What do we do now?...Where do we go?..." She asked, looking up to him. Marv seemed to think for a few moments. "...Rister, maybe?...It's a fairly new town like Illust, but it's sort of far...I can't go back to Illust, Vince would try to have me face a firing squad, for sure...There's no way I'm taking Heather to The Den, and Klamath is sort of far....New Arroyo would be great, but it's even farther...Redding?...I was going to send Heather there in the first place...It might be okay to go there...Yeah...That'll do fine, I suppose." Marv took in a slow breath, smelling the far-off scent of burning substances floating on the wind.
"I guess...I guess we're going to the south. Redding is about a week south-west, back the way we came." Heather nodded, saying "Okay...But do you think we could get any food anywhere?...I already ate the food you gave me earlier...I'm kind of thirsty, too..." Marv took in a slow breath. He wondered as to how he would provide for Heather when he barely had enough for himself. He began to walk off with her, hand-in-hand, saying "Yeah, I'll see if I can find something for you, you never know, we might run across a trader or some abandoned house that might still have some stuff in it..." Heather smiled gently and nodded, saying "Okay!" in a cheery tone. They walked off into the southern horizon, the burning image of Modoc steadily raging on behind them.
Kid awoke gently once more, but he felt fully rested now. He didn't know what time it was as Dawn didn't have any windows to her room. He stretched slightly, closing his eyes and letting out a quiet groan. Dawn immediately opened her eyes, smiling as he stretched. She gave him a quick kiss on the cheek, Kid opening his eyes, smiling. Dawn smiled and closed her eyes a little, saying "Hey...Guess what?..." Kid shrugged after a moment and said "What?" He felt her take one of his hands by the wrist, lowering it slightly. He immediately began to blush deeply, feeling her slip his hand along her shaved lower lips. Dawn smiled. Rocky doesn't want to make a scene, so he hasn't ordered his guards to spray her blood on the walls. You should probably get out here!" Dawn sighed, raising a hand to her face in exasperation, closing her eyes. "Christ, just what I needed..." She muttered. "What does she look like? Did you see her, at least?" She asked after a few seconds. Mister Pink nodded, glancing to the left for a moment. "She's got short blonde hair with some streaks of red in her bangs, she's wearing a leather jacket and a blue shirt under it, along with some army-looking pants, you know, the kind with green camouflage designs to it?"
Dawn opened her eyes quickly, her eyes going wide for a moment before she seemed to relax. "That sounds like Ace..." Kid thought to himself. Dawn must have realized it was Ace, as well. She quickly regained her composure, smiling confidently at Mister Pink, saying "Well, she's probably just some damn love-struck fan. If there's any place in the wasteland that can make me feel like a celebrity, it's New Reno..." Dawn raised her hands and shook them in a mockingly silly manner, saying "People always run up to me and tell me how awesome my last movie was, how much they worship and adore me as if I'm some fucking sexual deity..." Mister Pink raised his eyebrows. "Dawn, I'm being serious and so is this other girl. She's about ten seconds away from trying to blow a hole in something. Please, to avoid any crap, you might want to get out here and calm this chick down." Kid sat up in the bed.
Dawn took in a sober breath, taking a more serious stance as she said "Look, I think I know this girl, so I'll go out and talk to her, but I can't promise that something won't happen. If it's the girl I'm thinking of, she'll probably want to kill me. No biggie or anything." Mister Pink looked down and to the side in thought, saying "How do you want us to handle it? We've got your back Dawn, you know that. If you want me and Rocky's guards to throw her ass out, we'll do it." He looked into her eyes as Dawn said "No, don't bother with that, this girl probably won't stop bothering me until one of us is dead, she's a raider, after all." Mister Pink's face suddenly grew a little angry. "I thought she had the stench of a raider about her." He said in an almost disgusted manner. Dawn said "Look, give me a minute here, try and stall the girl. I'll get into my armour and get out there." Mister Pink suddenly smiled a little, looking up and down along Dawn's body for a moment, saying "Get into some armour, that's a good idea, I don't think you'd be able to sway this girl by walking out there naked!"
Dawn smiled a little and stepped back into her room, still not bothering to try and hide her body. "Go on, try and keep her busy for a minute, that's all it'll take for me to get dressed!" Mister Pink nodded, winking his right eye at her before walking off. Dawn sighed softly, closing the door to her room. Kid worriedly looked at her. "The girl th-that Mister Pink described, it sounds a lot l-like Ace..." Kid said quietly. Dawn nodded. "I know..." She said softly and simply. She turned and looked at him, walking over to the bed as she put a smile on. "It'll be okay though, it's me she wants, not you. Even if she did want you, I'd never let anything bad happen to you anyway, I wouldn't let her touch you. I'll go out and stop her." Kid looked into her face as he said "You d-don't have to kill her Dawn, you did sort of kn-knock her out..." Dawn took in a gentle breath. "With reason...I didn't do it for the hell of it..." Kid nodded. "I know...But she doesn't. T-Tell her what you were worried about, m-maybe she'll calm down?" Dawn shook her head.
"I don't think that's going to work, Kid. From the sound of things, she might wanna rip off my head." Kid remained silent for a few moments before saying "Can't we just sneak out of here and avoid her?..." Dawn looked at him with a smile, raising an eyebrow. "Are you kidding me? Never run from your problems Kid, they just grow bigger and follow you. I know that from personal experience. How do you think I ended up in New Reno in the first place? I ran from my problems and ended up here..." She looked down to her knees, losing her smile. "Running isn't an option, I don't run from stuff anymore...I'll stop her, one way or another. She's a raider, I'll stop her permanently if I have to, that's all raiders understand, anyway. Like big schoolyard bullies, every single one of them. They act tough and fierce until you show that you're not going to back down and that you can actually fight back, then they usually just sissy out and beg for their lives." Kid said "Ace didn't really s-seem like that...She wasn't th-that vicious..."
Dawn looked at him, standing up from the bed. "Some are like that. Just imagine though, how many people has Ace killed? How many people has she robbed and left to starve to death? Getting robbed just once can easily leave you starving to death out here. How many people have begged for mercy in front of her? How many did she ignore and slaughter?" Kid shook his head. "..." He said nothing. Dawn began to get dressed in her black underwear, pulling on her metallic combat armour afterwards. "You don't have to kill her..." He said softly again. Dawn took in a gentle breath, looking over to him. She looked down to the ground, saying "Kid...I know she was like...I don't know...A friend to you...But...Look, she'll try to kill me, I'm sure, and I'm simply going to defend myself! It's the way the wasteland works. Do you think if I showed her mercy she'd stop hunting me, hunting us? And if she did, then for how long? Until she's rested up and healed, maybe with another gun or two? Until she's gotten a few friends of her own to help her out? No, I won't let that happen. I'll put an end to it right here, right now. I won't let some stubborn little raider girl chase me around the damn world, I don't need the added danger. I won't let her hurt you, eventually she might get the bright idea of trying to hurt you to get to me. Not going to happen."
"Dawn, Ace wasn't like th-that, she was nice to us!..." Dawn took in a breath, her eyes beginning to grow sad. She picked up her assault rifle from the floor, dropping it on the bed. She got down on her knees in front of him slowly, placing her hands on his thighs. "Kid..." She said slowly, looking up into his face. "I'm sorry, but...Look, I'll try to warn her off to start with, I'll try to avoid a fight, just to make you happy....I don't see her just leaving, though..." Kid looked into her eyes. "At least try..." He said. Dawn nodded gently, exhaling through her nose, like a short sigh. "Alright...I'll try to get her to go away before I pull my gun....But if she starts shooting, I'm going to put her down. That's that." Kid nodded. "Alright...At least you'll t-try..." He said softly. Dawn raised a hand to his face, the left corner of her mouth raising gently as a half-smile came to her. "Hey...Come on...Smile...I said I'd try...Give me a kiss?..." Her words forced a smile onto his face. He placed his hands on the hard, protective shoulders of her armour, closing his eyes as he brought his face down to her's. Dawn closed her eyes, the two of them kissing gently, not once, not twice, but three times. Dawn finally stood up, Kid lowering his hands from her. She picked her assault rifle up from the bed, not saying another word, grabbing her sunglasses hastily and walking over to the door of her room, stepping outside. Kid listened to her walk away for a few moments before he quickly began to get dressed, slipping on his clothes and grabbing his pistol, slipping it into the front of the waistband of his pants, it being held snug against his lower stomach. He left the room, walking towards the front room slowly...
Dawn's face was serious as she walked out near the front room of the building, several actors and actresses staying outside of it, standing near the doorway. Someone was shouting out "Dawn!! Get the fuck out here!" Dawn slipped her sunglasses on as she walked nonchalantly into the front room. "You called?" She said in a slightly patronizing tone. Ace turned and looked at her, having been looking towards a poster on a wall on the opposite side of the room. Her face remained dark. She stared along Dawn for a few moments. Dawn noticed that Ace had a hunting rifle in her hands. Her dog, Penelope, stood by her side. "What the fuck happened back at the cannibal's house?!" She asked angrily. Dawn raised an eyebrow as she said "You took Jet, Jet messes people up. I couldn't have you with us, and I couldn't have explained it to you in words, not while you were in that state. I did the only thing that I could've done to get you to stay away without killing you." Ace angrily said "What are you talking about, it's not like I would've robbed you guys, you guys were the closest things I had to friends since Jimmie and Blackjack had died!"
Dawn raised an eyebrow. Ace noticed her face, sounding a little less angry as she said "They were my old raiding friends...We had known each other for years...That old cannibal fucker and those little bitches with him killed the both of them and damn near killed me, too...That's why I went there and killed him." Dawn nodded gently. "Look, Ace, I don't have anything against you personally, I'm not some white knight crusader, I don't care that you're a raider. I don't approve, but people do what they have to do to survive, I understand that. I'm keeping my word to Kid and giving you one chance to walk out of here without any holes in you. Unless you really want to fight, I'd suggest you take it." Ace narrowed her eyes. "I don't take crap from slutty porn bitches, don't try and come off like you're better than me, don't try and give me orders!"
Penelope began to growl gently, baring her teeth a little. Dawn narrowed her eyes. "Final warning Ace, leave now or else you and I are going to turn this place upside down with lead. I don't want that and I'm sure neither do you. It won't make you tough and strong to stay here and challenge me, quite the opposite, by not swallowing your pride and just staying here, you'll guarantee that one of us will end up dead. Seeing as how we're in a building of people on my side, chances are things won't turn out well for you. Even if you kill me, my friends will come after you." Ace narrowed her eyes. Penelope let out a bark, Dawn glancing at her. "Fuck your friends and fuck you too, whore!" Ace said angrily, whipping a hand to her pocket, pulling out her sawed-off shotgun. Dawn lowered her assault rifle and sprayed bullets into Penelope as she raced towards Dawn's legs, the dog letting out a loud whine of pain before falling to the ground dead. Ace screamed in sorrow and rage, running up to Dawn, punching her in the stomach, firing both shells of her sawed-off into Dawn's chest at point-blank range.
Dawn's armour stopped most of the pellets, but a few tore through and hit her, Dawn shutting her eyes tight for a moment in pain. Ace raced out of the building, speedily reloading her sawed-off. Dawn's eyes were dark with wrath. She raced out into the street, pointing her assault rifle at Ace, spraying bullets at her. Dawn missed as Ace began ducking and moving, eventually doing a roll forward, turning around during her roll on the street's broken concrete. She pointed her hunting rifle at Dawn, looking into it's scope. Dawn began to race towards Ace with fury in her eyes. Ace pulled the trigger, the rifle recoiling powerfully, ramming into Ace's shoulder slightly. Dawn cried out as a bullet tore through her armour, ripping into her right thigh, Dawn falling to her knees, nearly falling onto her chest, but catching herself before she rammed down into the ground fully. Ace sighted onto the top of Dawn's head, ready to pull the trigger again. Dawn held onto her assault rifle and rolled to the side, continually rolling until she got onto the curb, shielding herself behind a half-destroyed mailbox.
Ace's face grew angry, pulling out her sawed-off as she got behind the corner-wall of the studio nearby, getting some cover. "Looks like I'm winning so far, Dawn! I haven't been shot yet!" Ace called out. Dawn's face grew angry. She called out "Enjoy it while it lasts!" She got up and raced back into the studio, Ace looking around the corner and spotting her run back into the building. Dawn took a moment to catch her breath in the studio's front room. Rocky walked out of his office quickly, looking left and right. He walked up to her and held out his hands, having items in them, one each. Dawn noticed he was holding out a stimpack and a flashbang grenade. He nodded to her wordlessly as she reached for the items. She took them both, quickly injecting the stimpack into her arm, handing him the spent stimpack. She began to feel her pain lessen, her wounds beginning to close. She tossed the flashbang up into the air for a moment before catching it, looking at it in her hand. It was thin and cylindrical in shape with a pin to it near the top. She smiled and winked at him in appreciation. He quickly walked back into his room, closing the door behind him quietly.
Dawn thought she could hear footsteps slowly approach the door from the outside. Dawn pulled the pin of the grenade and held onto it for two seconds, tossing it out the door on the third. A loud bursting sounded out almost immediately, a bright flash glowing through the doorway. "Crap! My eyes!!" She heard Ace scream. Dawn walked outside calmly, seeing Ace with her hands to her face, swaying slightly where she stood. Ace seemed to sense Dawn close by, turning and beginning to race away. Dawn gritted her teeth and ran after her. It wasn't long before Ace tripped, falling to the ground, to her chest. Ace's hunting rifle clattered to the ground beside her. Dawn stood over her in a moment, Ace quickly turning over onto her back, holding up her sawed-off shotgun. Dawn kicked the weapon from her hands. Her vision coming back to her, Ace tried reaching for her hunting rifle, Dawn quickly kicking it away, as well. Ace pulled out her combat knife, Dawn lowering her assault rifle and firing a single shot into Ace's right upper arm, Ace crying out and dropping her knife.
Dawn stomped down on Ace's stomach, pointing her assault rifle down, right into Ace's face. Dawn was just about to pull the trigger before she heard a voice call out "Dawn!" Dawn froze, but she didn't look away from Ace, staring at Ace through the dark, tinted lenses of her sunglasses. Kid quickly walked up beside her, saying "Dawn, you d-don't have to kill her!" Dawn glared down into Ace's eyes in a fury. "Kid, she was going to kill me, and she might not have even stopped there, we talked about this!" Ace looked up into Dawn's eyes, a mixture of receding anger and pain filling her eyes. Dawn's finger was twitching on the trigger of her assault rifle. She felt like she was being torn in two different directions at once. Dawn let out a short cry of wrath, knowing she should kill Ace, but the desire to not hurt Kid emotionally held her back. Ace simply stared up at her, her eyes by that point simply looking filled with pain, her shirt growing dark with blood from the bullet in her arm.
Kid had run away from Dawn after she had knocked Ace out, how would he react if she ended Ace's life right before his eyes? Dawn's face grew more resolute, gritting her teeth for a few moments. "Thank him..." Dawn muttered darkly. Ace looked at Dawn curiously. Angrily and in a louder tone, Dawn said "Thank him, he's the only reason I'm not spraying your fucking blood across the pavement!!" Ace quickly looked to Kid. "Thank you, Kid...Th-Thank you..." Kid glanced at her sadly, looking to Dawn once more, placing his right hand on her right elbow, trying to get her to lower her weapon gently. Dawn ground her foot down into Ace's stomach, forcing the air from her lungs once more, furiously saying "If I ever see you again, I swear, I'll rip out your fucking heart and feed it to a ghoul!! Do you understand?!" Ace nodded quickly a few times, beginning to look at Dawn with fear, a fear that had never been present before. Dawn took her foot from her, keeping her gun pointed at Ace, muttering "Get the fuck out of town, get as far away from here as you can before I change my mind and cut you in half." Not even bothering with her weapons, with a twinkle of tears in her eyes, Ace got up, racing away, heading down a street and disappearing from view.
Dawn sighed heavily, lowering her assault rifle, raising a hand to her face. Kid didn't say anything, keeping a hand on Dawn's upper right arm. Eventually he said "...Thank you...I appreciate you not killing her...." Dawn took in a slow breath before exhaling, looking over to him, calming down. "Yeah...Don't mention it..." She said quietly. She suddenly smiled gently, raising an eyebrow and asking "Think I scared her enough, heh heh?" Kid raised his eyebrows and nodded slightly, not being able to help but smile a little. He was relieved that she hadn't killed Ace. Kid liked Ace, he hadn't known her for long, but she seemed like an interesting person. Besides, she didn't seem as malicious and nasty as Dawn made raiders sound. Kid remembered the time just after he had run from Dawn, just after she had knocked Ace out. He remembered how cruel and dark he had gotten. Maybe Ace had gone through a similar experience, only she never got out of it, and the lifestyle of a raider simply appealed to the new her? And besides, the only reason Ace had been mad at Dawn was because Dawn had knocked her out.
Dawn smiled more at Kid and said "Hey...Do you want to leave New Reno?" Kid raised an eyebrow at her curiously. "But...We just got here..." He said softly. Dawn smiled and raised her eyebrows, looking around at the buildings nearby. "Yeah, and I already feel like taking another vacation from it, heh. Why don't we start to head for Rister? It's only about a week and a day or two from here to the north-east. I could probably get Mister Pink to get us a bag of food and supplies before we headed out. I got a friend that lives in Rister, I'd like to see him, it's been a while. Me and him go way back, he's like a brother to me." Kid nodded slowly. "Well...Alright...When would you want t-to go?" He asked. Dawn smiled and raised her eyebrows, looking him in the eyes. She half-closed her eyes, leaning over slightly, bringing her face close to his. "This very minute." She said quietly.
Kid said "Okay...Well...You said th-that you'd get a bag of supplies...So...I'll just wait here..." Dawn smiled and gave him a quick kiss on the lips before saying "Alright!" She turned and walked off, heading back into the studio, a bit of blush entering Kid's cheeks from her kiss. Inside, Dawn faced many congratulations, Dawn smiling and saying "Thank you" to a few people. Rocky and Mister Pink walked over to her, Rocky chuckling and saying "That's my girl, doesn't take shit from nobody, hah hah!" Mister Pink smiled and congratulated her, Dawn smiling at him. "So, what's the story behind you and that girl, Dawn? I'm surprised you didn't kill her!" Rocky asked a moment later. Dawn said "I wanted to, but...It's a long story. Can I ask you guys a favour?" They both nodded. "I'm gonna leave town for a bit...I know it's sudden and that I just got back, but I feel like leaving again, just for a bit, anyway. I'll come back eventually, I'm sure. But I need to get away for a bit, I want to show some stuff to my friend, show him a bit more of the wasteland. I was wondering if you guys could scrounge together a little bag or something, some supplies?...Nothing fancy, just some food and drinks, maybe some stimpacks?"
Mister Pink snapped his fingers, giving Dawn a thumbs-up symbol, saying "I'm on it, I should have it in about twenty minutes or so, not long." Dawn smiled and came closer to him, pushing a kiss to his left cheek in thanks. He smiled and left the building, quickly walking off. As soon as Mister Pink left, Rocky smiled at her and said "I think I gotta ask a favour of my own now, honey." Dawn raised an eyebrow. "What did you have in mind?" She asked. Rocky smiled and said "Listen babe, you wanna leave town that's your business, I'll miss you but I won't try to stop you. I just want one thing from ya before you head on your way." Dawn nodded, saying "I'm listening." Rocky said "Give me about a twenty second clip of your chest and maybe that sweet bum of your's, I could use it as a short preview at the beginning of my next big movie, saying "Ruby-Red's next movie, coming soon"! People would go nuts over it!"
Dawn raised an eyebrow, smiling as she said "Well, you'd have to include that the movie might not come out for a few weeks, just so people don't get pissed, but...Alright, you've done enough for me that I guess I owe you something like that." Rocky rubbed his hands together eagerly, grinning as he said "Ooh darlin', thank you kindly, it'll surely cause an uproar at the next few showings, and the good kind of uproar, too!" Dawn smiled more, walking off into the large room nearby, the one filled with beds and camera sets, the large room that led to hallways leading to personal rooms like her's. Within a minute or two, Rocky had a camera set ready and filming, Dawn laying down her assault rifle and taking off the torso piece of her armour, revealing her bra. She quickly undid it, showing off her massive breasts. She felt along them and jiggled them slightly for the camera for a moment before turning around and bending over slightly, pulling her pant-armour down along with her panties, revealing her bare, curvy ass, shaking her hips slightly. Rocky grinned, saying "Damn baby, I had almost forgotten how luscious it looks!"
Dawn laughed softly, grinning happily. A few other actors and actresses watched, all smiling, some even clapping and whistling in appreciation of her body. Rocky turned the camera off a second later, grinning happily as he said "Ooh shit, that's gonna make more than a few people happy, I just know it!" Dawn pulled her pant-armour and panties back up, putting her bra back on along with her torso armour. She winked at him as she picked up her assault rifle once more. "Don't mention it, anything for a friend, heh." Rocky grinned, patting the video camera set gently, saying "This thing is worth it's weight in gold now, heh heh!" Mister Pink quickly walked back into the room, saying "Didn't take as long as I thought it would, heh. Here." He held up an old burlap sack, filled with various items. Dawn grinned and walked over to him, taking the sack, thanking him again. Rocky said "You just missed it Pink m'boy, Dawn gave us a bit of a flash!"
He raised his eyebrows, comically stomping down on the floor lightly, saying "Aw shoot, missed the good stuff again!" Dawn placed a hand against his chest, smoothing her hand along him gently as she walked past him, seductively saying "Nothing you haven't already seen, don't get all sad, now." He smiled and raised an eyebrow. Dawn waved goodbye to everyone, seeing them wave back, Dawn leaving the building shortly after. Kid stood outside still, Dawn still smiling gently as she held up the bag. Kid had left Ace's weapons in the street, and Dawn hadn't even noticed them until that point, but still, she didn't pick them up. Her hands were full with her assault rifle and the bag of items. Kid took the bag of items from her, wanting to help. She smiled at him and said "Okay, follow me. We have a bit of a trip ahead of us, so-" Kid's eyes suddenly widened. "Oh no, my journal!" He cried. He laid down the bag of supplies, racing back into the building. Dawn pursed her lips slightly for a moment, waiting for him to return, Kid reappearing within a minute or so. He clutched his faded book and pencil, slipping them into his back pocket, smiling embarrassingly as he picked the bag of supplies back up. Dawn raised her eyebrows with a smile and said "Well...As I was saying....The trip shouldn't be too hard, it's not too long compared to some of the trips I've made before. But still, we'll have some walking ahead of us. Let's go." Kid nodded, the two of them walking along, eventually leaving New Reno. They headed out into the wastes, heading north-east, heading for the town known as "Rister"...
