“Turn the light off!”
“You do it, you’re closer to the window.”
Roxas groaned in his sleep, listening to the grumbling voices of two men on either side of him complain about the sun shining through the open blinds. It wasn’t the most wonderful thing to wake up to in the early morning, although remembering the events of last night, it wasn’t too bad either.
Before anymore complaining could take place, Roxas shifted and winced as he sat down at the edge of the bed, his body reminding him exactly what had transpired only a few hours ago. With flushed cheeks the young man stood up and walked over to the window, closing the blinds and sighing as he glanced at Reno and Axel who were still lying in bed.
At first the room was silent, although once Roxas began making his way back he stopped at the sudden sensation of a strong arm wrapping around his hip.
“Take it easy Rox.” Axel muttered tiredly as he slid over to the middle of the bed, allowing Roxas to lie down along the edge. “Lay down here baby.” Axel said with his eyes half open, the green within them barely visible.
Warmth eradiated from Roxas’ chest as he complied and carefully laid himself back onto the bed, welcoming the sensation of Axel’s arm sliding over his stomach and holding his waist. Sleep was now the last thing on Roxas’ mind, he was enjoying the closeness of Axel’s warm body pressed to his own, all the while feeling his breath brush against his neck.
Letting out a soft giggle, Roxas wriggled slightly in Axel’s grasp, making the redhead hold on him tighter in an attempt to keep him still.
“What’s so funny?” Axel mumbled tiredly as he peeked one eye open a little more.
A small fit of giggles then begin to come from Roxas, bewildering Axel to the point where he was beginning to loosen his hold on the blonde. Suddenly Reno perked his head up to look at Roxas, curious as to why he himself was awoken by the beautiful sound of Roxas’ laughter.
“It tickles!” Roxas proclaimed with blushed cheeks and tousled hair.
The answer made Axel let out a faint half hearted laugh, pressing his face against Roxas’ neck and blowing against it a little more, happy to hear him giggle even more in response.
The sound was not only adorable but also incredibly contagious, making it so both men were smiling despite the early hours. Last nights events might have helped the mood too, just a little bit.
“Someone is ready to start the day.” Reno said in a deep, grumbling voice. His long hair was out from its usual ponytail, now sprawled against the white pillow his head was resting on. The goggles that usually adorned his forehead were placed on the nightstand, making him look slightly different than usual; an appearance that many others unfortunately didn’t get to see.
Roxas stopped giggling when Axel slipped away from him for a second, curiously watching as both redheads gave each other a faint, “Good morning,” before mumbling to one another about something that Roxas couldn’t quite catch.
After only a few seconds of observing both of them, the young man was shocked to see Axel lean in and press his lips to Reno’s, giving him a chaste kiss. Starring in amazement, Roxas smiled so wide he was nearly beaming, witnessing something he never expected to see before. Who knew the two men before him would turn out to grow to like or possibly even love one another. Roxas shook his head and kept his eyes on his boyfriends until their attention shifted.
“Morning to you too.” Reno mumbled lowly to Axel before crawling over him and leaning down to give Roxas a light kiss as well.
It took a couple minutes for each man to fully awaken, and since it was their day off they decided to spend some much needed time together. Axel was the first to slip out of bed and head towards the bathroom so he could brush his teeth and turn the shower on; his emerald eyes still half lidded as he waited for the water to get to it’s comfortable temperature before pulling the curtain back and heading back to the master bedroom. “It’s ready.”
Reno hoisted himself out of bed and walked over to Roxas, helping him up and heading to the washroom. “You alright?” Reno asked the blonde while accompanying Axel.
With a nod of his head, Roxas slid a hand down to his backside and rubbed it, his opposite hand going to his hair and running his fingers through the messy strands. “Yeah, it’s not too bad.” He mumbled.
In truth Roxas felt just a little bit sore, especially when he sat down and put his full weight on his butt. Although since the shower didn’t require sitting, he knew he’d be okay.
Axel stepped inside the shower, followed close by Reno and finally Roxas. The shower wasn’t big by all means, it was most likely made to comfortably fit two people, but with three adults it wasn’t the most spacious.
Axel got his hair soaked first, allowing the other two to do the same before grabbing the shampoo nearby and lathering his head with it. Since Roxas was the farthest from the showerhead, Axel helped the young man by grabbing some more soap and scrubbing his head, running his fingers through his hair.
“It’s messy.” Axel mumbled.
“That’s because…you know why it’s messy.” Roxas blushed whilst glaring at his boyfriend.
“How can I forget?” Axel chuckled.
Reno went beneath the water while the other two washed up, rubbing his body with a bar of soap and lathering it with bubbles in order to become squeaky-clean. Glancing over at the other two, Reno couldn’t help but to smile at the view before him. Both Axel and Roxas were completely naked, and it was completely natural for them, they weren’t covering up nor were they shy about showering with two other men. It was such a difference in comparison to when they first lived together.
Stepping out of the way, Reno then allowed Roxas to rinse his hair out, followed close by Axel who then started to wash his body with the same soap Reno had just finished using.
“Here, let me help.” Roxas grabbed the soap from Axel’s hand and went behind him, rubbing it along his back and giggling when he heard the man protest that he could do it himself.
“Well I want to help you out. Now stay still!” Roxas kept scrubbing Axel’s back despite the resistance, but it didn’t take very long for the redhead to stop complaining and simply enjoy his boyfriend’s hands along his body.
“So I was thinking…” Reno leaned up against the wall and waited for the other two to finish while speaking. “The trip that was mentioned before, we should do it this upcoming weekend.”
“This weekend?” Roxas glanced at Reno with a slight frown on his face. “But I was going to go to Sora’s and help him study for his exams.”
Reno let out a soft huff and crossed his arms over his chest. “Rox, you’d rather pass up the time to camp with me and Axe? Maybe you two could meet up for smaller hours during the week so it can make up for the weekend. Come on, it’ll be fun.” Reno smiled.
Pursing his lips, Roxas finished washing Axel’s back and handed him the soap so he can wash the rest of his body. Bringing a hand to his arm, Roxas softly scratched over his skin while pondering the thought.
“I guess that can work. How many nights would we stay there?”
“Just one. Go Saturday and stay until Sunday so we don’t miss days off work.” Axel budded in as he brought the soap down to his legs and thighs. “We can plan larger trips later on in the year.” Axel suggested while looking up at Reno and Roxas.
“That works.” The other redhead smiled, running his fingers through his drenched red hair before focusing on Roxas. “So, you up for it?”
Being the last to wash off, Roxas grabbed the soap and slowly began to wash off while nodding his head. “I think I can make it work. How many tents will we bring?”
Axel chuckled beneath his breath before shrugging his shoulders. “We have two since there are two of us, so either we buy a third or we all squeeze inside of one.”
Roxas groaned at the idea, not because he detested the idea of cuddling with his boyfriend’s, but because he knew it would probably lead to both men being on either side of him and having a little too much fun being squished together. Although sleeping separately would most definitely be worse.
“I think we can manage to fit inside of one.” Roxas said finally.
“I was hoping for that answer.” Reno ruffled Roxas’ wet hair before slipping out of the shower and grabbing a towel to wrap around himself, using a smaller one to put over his head for his hair. “Then it’s settled, we just have to make sure we have everything. Tent, sleeping bags, food and water. We have to make sure we have what we need.”
Roxas watched Axel get out and join Reno, following close behind both men as he grabbed the last towel to wrap around his entire body in an attempt to keep warm. “Packing now is a bit early isn’t it?”
“Well we’re just planning ahead, not packing just yet bunny.” Reno winked and headed out of the bathroom towards his room, leaving a flushed and huffy Roxas in his wake.
“Bunny? Why I…not…damn it.” Roxas grumbled incoherently beneath his breath while walking to his bedroom to grab some clothes.
All men regrouped in the kitchen to have some breakfast, the three managing to take part in the task of preparing it. Reno had his hair tightly tied back while cracking some eggs into a pan, Roxas was setting the table and pouring each of them drinks, and Axel was popping bread into the toaster whilst searing some bacon in a separate pan.
Once the toast was ready, Axel buttered his slice and bit into it while placing the others onto their plates. Reno added the eggs beside the bread and waiting for the bacon before each headed to the table and sat down to enjoy their meal.
While taking a bite of his egg, Roxas’ blue eyes lifted and focused on Axel while letting out a soft hum in contemplation. “Axel?” He mumbled.
Looking up from his plate, Axel slowed his chewing down before swallowing his food and quirking an eyebrow. “What’s up babe?”
Roxas looked back down at his plate, moving some of his food around using his fork while parting his lips and speaking shyly. “Is it…um, is it supposed to feel weird?” Roxas shifted in his seat, his face visibly flushed.
Looking at Roxas with a dumbfounded look, Axel tilted his head inquisitively before chuckling from the realization of what he meant. Waving his hand, Axel took a forkful of bacon and nodded his head. “You’ll get a little more used to it. It’s strange but it goes away.”
“It doesn’t hurt does it?” Reno asked, concern visible on his face.
“No! Oh no I’m okay.” Roxas spoke a little louder when Reno sounded so distressed. “It’s just strange.” Clearing his throat, he went back to eating his food and let the silence linger a little longer until they all finished their food. While clearing the table, Roxas went to the sink and began washing the dishes, speaking out once again. “So are we going to have to use an outhouse and survive out in the wild?”
“Oh no, we don’t need outhouses when we have the great outdoors!” Axel proclaimed with a soft laugh. “And it’s a campground, so luckily we won’t have to survive off of forest mushrooms and cool off using mud.”
Roxas glanced over at his shoulder, watching both Axel and Reno shove one another in an attempt to grab the remote for the TV from one another. How typical.
Rolling his eyes, the blonde sighed and finished the dishes, drying his hands off, and then heading over to the couch to sit down.
“What’s on?” Roxas wondered as he rested his arms on the back of the couch, sitting on the very left beside Axel. When there was no answer, Roxas quirked a brow and saw that Reno managed to steal the remote, a smile on his face while he changed the channel.
“Cops. What else?”
“Ugh that show is so boring. Why don’t you turn it to the comedy network or something?”
“Because that crap isn’t even funny!” Reno barked while hiding the remote under his leg so Axel couldn’t grab it.
With an exasperated sigh, Roxas held back another eye roll and simply watched the television for a few minutes. It wasn’t the most exciting thing to watch; yet it wasn’t that boring either. Police officers running after idiots who think it’s a good idea to try and run for it, or a man who is clearly drunk but swears he didn’t have a single drop of alcohol before going behind the wheel of his vehicle.
A soft touch caught Roxas’ attention, his eyes drifting to his leg that was propped onto the couch resting near Axel. He saw that his eyes were boringly watching the TV, yet warm fingers were slowly brushing up and down his ankle. It sent a tingle up Roxas’ spine; the sensation was so nice and relaxing…
“Rox?”
“Wha? Yeah what’s up?” Roxas opened his eyes and looked around before his gaze settled on Reno who was now beside him.
“You fell asleep.” The redhead chuckled, leaning in to softly kiss Roxas’ forehead before standing up from the couch and stretching. “Only for a few minutes don’t worry. Come on, we’re going out to grab some things for the trip. You coming?”
Rubbing his eyes and letting out a loud yawn, Roxas nodded his head and stood up slowly. “Yeah I’m coming.”
Following close behind Reno, Roxas noticed Axel already ready at the door as the three of them headed to the car. Once buckled in and out of the garage, Reno held his focus on the road while his younger boyfriend sat beside him in the passengers seat and Axel was seated in the back.
With his eyes focused ahead of him, Reno cleared his throat and tried his best to fill the silence with something other than the horrible music playing on the radio. “Where to first?”
“Well we already have a tent. So groceries, uhhh maybe stuff for s’mores and hot dogs. That’s what people eat when camping.” Axel suggests while looking out the window.
“We also have to make sure to have flashlights for when it’s dark out. Hm how about extra blankets?” Roxas added.
Chuckling under his breath, Reno stopped at a red light and put his hand over to Roxas, running his fingers through his hair. “You both have pretty good ideas, I think we can get all of those things. But we’re forgetting the condoms and lube.”
With a beet red face, Roxas widened his eyes before looking out the window and releasing a soft huff. “Of course you would say that.” He mumbled shyly while looking back at Axel who looked more amused than anything else. “Don’t tell me you agree? We have way more than enough at home anyways.” Roxas admitted bashfully.
“I suppose, but more wouldn’t hurt.” Axel let out a faint laugh at how timid Roxas was, but the moment he’s laying in bed that shy wall crumbles so easily.
The silence lingered yet again until they reached the mall, getting out together and walking inside side by side. Roxas decided to change it up and stood on the right, Reno in the middle and Axel on the far left. It felt strange for Roxas to always be the one being between them, especially since he wanted Reno and Axel to get along a little better; even though they’ve been doing really well lately.
“What first?”
“Um, blankets and flashlights.” Reno suggests as he points to a nearby store. “Utility shop is right there. Why not?”
Axel nodded his head and shoved his hands into his jean pockets. “Sounds good to me.” He said while walking towards the store, his hair still just slightly damp from the shower earlier, making it look a little messier than usual.
As they headed into the store, Roxas went straight towards the aisle with a few flashlights, varying from small ones for children, and a few being large enough to be used as weapons. Grabbing two reasonably priced flashlights, Roxas turned around and watched Reno and Axel grab a few extra things. Sneaking up behind the two of them, Roxas arched an eyebrow at what one of the men were holding.
“Is that a portable grill? What happened to the great outdoors?”
“Hey, this is for our apartment got it?” Axel chuckled and kissed the top of Roxas’ head before heading towards the till.
Reno rolled his eyes and showed Roxas two blankets. “What one do you prefer?”
Looking at both of the soft blankets, the blonde let out a soft hum and ran his fingers over either of them. The one on the left was a darker grey, while the one on the right was almond white.
“Off white is pretty.” Roxas said while pointing to Reno’s right hand. “This one.”
“Good pick.” Putting the other one back on the shelf, Reno and Roxas join up with Axel as they all split the bill and bought their supplies before heading outside and walking to the grocery store beside the mall.
Roxas looked around, not realizing just how many people looked in their direction. Maybe it was because Reno and Axel were incredibly attractive, but a part of him wondered if maybe, somehow they questioned if they were in a polygamous relationship.
Roxas scratched his arm, moving a little closer to Reno who was once again in the middle of the two of them. “Chocolate, marshmallows, gram crackers, hot dogs and hot dog buns. That’s our list.” Roxas mumbled to himself, drawing his attention elsewhere for the time being.
“And a few snacks on the side.” Axel added while grabbing a bag of hot chili chips and putting it in the cart.
Walking down the aisles, each man searched for the groceries they needed and got a few extra sugary snacks on the side for Roxas’ sake. On the way to the checkout, Roxas checked over the food to ensure they grabbed everything before placing everything on the counter.
“Axel?”
All men looked up at the woman at the cash register, her teal eyes wide as she stares at the redhead and then widely smiles. “How have you been?”
Axel looked from one boyfriend to the other before fixating back on the woman, clearing his throat as he helped Roxas place the items on the counter. “Larxene, it’s been a while. I’m good. How about you?”
Reno stiffens once Axel says her name, causing Roxas to glance at Turk curiously. He had no idea who she was, but it was clear Reno did.
“Good. Although I was surprised you’ve gotten so busy lately. We used to always hang out.” Larxene stated, scanning the items slowly in an attempt to stall them further.
Axel shifted uncomfortably and naturally stepped closer to Reno and Roxas, taking a deep breathe while scratching the back of his head and smiling falsely. “Well ya know, I’m working in the fire department and workout at least five times a week. It’s not as easy as it used to be.”
Larxene finally looked over at Reno and Roxas, her eyes mainly focusing on smaller of the two. “Who are you two? His friends?” She asked with a near threatening gaze, making Roxas feel uncomfortable.
Clearing his throat, Axel walked over to the scanned items and started to put them into bags, his attention fixating on anything other than the other three. “No…” he trailed off and looked up at her, lips parted but not another word slipped out.
“Oh?” The blonde woman looked at Reno and furrowed her eyebrows. “If not friends than what are you? Friends with benefits maybe.” She laughed, the sound being rather unpleasant.
“We’re his boyfriends.” Roxas finally spoke up, gaining Larxene’s attention instantly. “Who are you?”
Scrunching her face in disgust, Larxene scowled and crossed her arms over her chest. “So you left me for two men? Two?” She laughed yet again and put a hand to her forehead. “Axel Axel Axel, you truly are going senile aren’t you? Come on you can do better than that.”
“I asked a question!” Roxas spoke up, getting the attention of a few of the other customers. He then felt a little hesitant when Larxene glared at him and gritted her teeth, realizing she was a bit intimidating but even so, who was she to say such things.
“I’m his ex girlfriend, was with him last year, and in fact he ditched me when I found out I was pregnant!” Larxene said through gritted teeth.
“What?” Reno finally decided to join the conversation, his eyes on Axel. “Dude, what the fuck?”
“It wasn’t mine.” Axel sighed loudly. “She cheated on me, got pregnant, I left her and not long after she lost the baby. How is that my fault? You cheated!” Axel grabbed his wallet, noticing that all the food was scanned and the other people in line were waiting. “You’re working, you should probably stop talking to us and do your job.”
“Asshole.” Larxene sneered and watched as Axel swiped his credit card and paid for it quickly. “Axel has a nail polish collection hidden in his closet.”
“Larxene!” Axel hissed, his cheeks growing red as he looked at Reno. “It’s mainly black nail polish, I used to put it on before we all moved in together….”
Reno sighed and grabbed the bag of groceries, glancing at Larxene and leaning towards her. “Back off, leave Axel alone. Got it?”
“That a threat?” She whispers back, glaring at the man before Reno is pulled away by Roxas.
“Don’t waste your breath.” Axel held one of the three bags tightly while walking towards the car.
Roxas hurried to catch up, wrapping one of his arms around Axel’s waist and leaning a head on his shoulder. “Forget about her okay? Cheer up, we’re going camping the next two days. We don’t want your mood ruined because of her.” Roxas leaned up and kissed his warm cheek before opening the trunk of Reno’s car and putting the bags inside.
Axel followed suit and took a deep breath, placing the bag into the trunk and heading to the front of the car. “I won’t worry about it. It just bugs me to see her, especially the way she was talking about you guys, not to mention she has the balls to mention her own mistake. I didn’t knock her up, if I did I wouldn’t have left.”
Glancing at Axel from the corner of his eye, Roxas frowned from what he had said. The redhead was too nice of a guy to be stuck with a person like that, yet he’d give up his happiness for the sake of someone else. Taking a deep breath, Roxas got into the backseat and shook his head, running a hand through his hair to get some strands out of his blue eyes.
“Can I have a cookie?” Roxas randomly decided to ask while looking back in the trunk and rummaging through the bags. It wasn’t like Roxas didn’t care about the subject, he just didn’t feel it was best to linger on it; the mood was already a little singed.
Reno went to the drivers seat to let Axel cool off in the back with Roxas, although as he sat down and shut the car door, he looked in the rearview mirror with a furrowed brow.
“That’s for camping. Not now sunshine.”
“Just one. Come on its rainbow chocolate chip.” Roxas smiled wide when he found the box, but the smile left instantly when Axel snatched it out of his hands. “Hey!”
“Mine now.” Axel smiled and opened the box up, quickly popping one into his mouth.
“Reno!”
“I can’t do anything, I’m the driver.” Reno smiled softly and buckled his seatbelt while shaking his head at the two. As they bickered about the cookies he was glad the tension was out of the way, at least for the time being. The woman behind the cash register would be the topic of a conversation someday, but until then he wanted to enjoy the weekend with the two. Drama free.
