When they arrived back in the basement Modryn took Calin aside while Gwen squared off with Mayhill, both using training swords. She heard the guild leader reassure the young imperial that he was just as important as every other member, and that his day would come when he would be needed for a mission. Gwen knew, however, that when that time finally came, the Porter would most likely be wishing he was safely back in the guild walls, cleaning and repairing armor. She was drawn out of her thoughts as Mayhill swung, hitting her shield with a heavy swing of his practice blade. She retaliated with a fast cutting blow of her own, missing his midsection by half an inch. They exchanged a few more blows, and she began to notice the weaknesses and patterns of her opponent. His swings were heavy and slow, leaving his left side open, even with his shield there, for he put most of his focus on his right handed swings. His shield arm sagged a little, and she could see how out of practice the man was if he was tiring this easily. She decided to end the fight and show the breton his error. She cut fast and hard at his left, and his shield came up, almost too slowly, catching the blow but he fell back slightly, unprepared for the swing coming at his throat, which stopped just short of killing him. “By the Nine, you are one fast elf,” Mayhill breathed, staring into the dunmer’s red eyes. She smiled and lowered her blade, accepting his yield. Calin and Modryn commended her skill, clapping appreciatively. “You should practice more, and keep your guard up better. You left yourself wide open at many points during our match. Practice your blocking more, and work on refining your sword technique, and you might be ready for advancement,” Gwen finished, smiling warmly. “Modryn, would you like a little sparring practice before you attend to business upstairs?” she asked the guild leader. “That sounds like a find idea, Gwen. I’m not going to go easy on you now, I’m just as spry now as I was in my younger years,” the male elf said as he took a practice blade off the rack. The two began circling each other, looking for an opening, before Gwen darted in with a quick slashing motion. Modryn barely had time to block, forgoing a shield for this fight. Gwen had put hers aside too, wanting to make it balanced for both of them. He twisted back from the attack and moved his blade in attempt to disarm her, but she was too quick and moved her sword away, only to attack his midsection. It was all he could do to keep up with her, and the two guild members present could see how much Gwen had held back in her bout with Mayhill. Modryn was beginning to tire, while the Champion was easily swinging and dodging away. She thought about letting him win this one, but he would know if she held back for his benefit. While it wouldn’t do to lose in front of his newer guild mates, he couldn’t see winning against someone who had closed countless Oblivion Gates and brought peace to the entire province. Gwen could see the slight lines of emotion passing across Master Oreyn’s face and could tell what he was already thinking. “You’re putting up a great fight, Master Oreyn,” she began. She could have easily disarmed him by now, but that was not her intention. “It does seem, however, that you should not forget about the other lady awaiting your attention. Sorry to cut this fight short, but my ears are telling me there are footsteps up above. How about we finish this another time?” Modryn smiled, hearing what the Champion was talking about. Just like her, to think of an excuse for me to keep my pride, he thought, then said, “Ah, you are correct, I shouldn’t keep her waiting any longer. And there will be guild reports coming in from a few members today. Have fun sparring with these two for the time being. Will you be here tonight?” Gwen was going to respond positively, then remembered her talk with Doren the previous evening. “I’m sorry, Modryn, but after I’m finished for the day with young Calin and Mayhill over here, I’ll be heading back to the Imperial City for last minute personal business,” she explained, and saw him barely hide a grin when she said “personal”. “All right, we’ll finish our bout next time you’re up here, but until then I wish you safe travels back to the city,” he waved at her, swiftly retreating to the second story sleeping quarters. “Now, I think we should kick this up a notch, work on your weaknesses so you know what to practice while I’m away,” Gwen said, turning her attention to the two young men who had taken off their armor and shirts while she was busy talking to Modryn. She felt a familiar sensation between her legs, but fought to keep her mind focused on the business at hand. Mayhill was already sweating from the intense workout she had given him, but Calin had cooled down from the pounding he had given the training dummy, so she decided to turn her focus to him. “So, Calin, show me what you got.” The imperial hesitated a moment before taking up his practice sword and squaring off with her. He struck first, and Gwen could already see he was faster with a blade than his breton friend. The dunmer still parried easily, and gave a quick jab in response. She was enjoying the way his body moved as they circled each other, so graceful, and his chest… Calin could see the woman’s attention had wandered a bit. He worked hard to keep a well toned figure, battle ready as he thought of it. Now he saw it might pay off in another way. Gwen still thwarted all attempts of his to disarm her, dancing away from his strikes, but she checked both of them out thoroughly, trying to decide if she should satisfy her urges or not right there. She dashed forward and with a quick maneuver had Calin’s sword out of his hand. “Seems like I could teach you both a few new moves,” she said with a grin. Both of the young men were speechless as Gwen took off her armor, revealing the curves her clothing barely hid. “Now, if you hold your sword in a better grip, like this…” she motioned, moving her hands on his practice sword, then guiding him through the motions of the move she had disarmed him with, “you might be able to flow a little better. And practice among each other a little more, beating on a dummy doesn’t give you any real experience. You know, maybe you are both a little distracted by something. I can probably help you both focus a little more. How about it?” she asked, smiling slyly at both of them. She could already tell their answer as they began to strip further.
