Shin glanced at Starr from the corner of his eye. Over the past couple of weeks they’d been slowly learning to trust one another. Today he intended to grant her quite a large chunk of his trust. He was going to go hunting. And, most critically, he was going to leave her with a dagger.
He was confident in his tracking abilities if she attempted to escape, and he was also very nearly certain that she had little training with a bladed weapon. It was, or rather, had been, a flaw of the light elves. They trained exclusively on one primary weapon. It had always been a source of confusion for him. Without a word, he turned to her and presented the dagger, still tucked in it’s protective sheath.
Brow’s furrowed in confusion at the proffered weapon, Starr looked at him quizzically. “Why are you giving me this?” She made no attempt to take the weapon, half convinced he was tricking her, seeing if she would take it.
“Take it. You may have need of it while I’m gone.” The weapon remained outstretched for her to take as he gazed unblinking at her.
Hesitantly, she reached out and slowly took the dagger. “Where are you going?” A small tremor of excitement raced through her at the thought of possible escape before she successfully squashed it down, remembering that she had no where to run to anymore.
“Hunting. I’ll be back after nightfall.” Stepping back, he effortlessly cast the magic that hid him from sight and watched with slight amusement as she became visibly flustered at his sudden disappearance, her hair swinging wildly as she looked around for him.
Of course, he wasn’t leaving her entirely on her own. As he left down the path that led to one of his favored hunting spots for deer, he watched as a valravn in it’s bird form perched inconspicuously in a tree. If she attempted to leave, the bird would inform him.
Starr let out an exasperated huff before curiously drawing the dagger from it’s sheath. The weapon was modest, nothing particularly fancy about it. But the blade was sharp and it had good balance. Of course, she would’ve preferred a bow since she was far more skilled with one, but there was no chance that he was going to give her a weapon that she might turn against him with potentially lethal consequences.
An inscription on the blade caught her eye and she studied it closely. The script was an odd combination of abrupt and jagged lines, starkly contrasting with intricate loops and whirls. Dark elvish?
She sheathed the dagger and aimlessly paced around for a while before deciding to explore the surrounding forest to see if there were any edible fruits. Unknown to her, the valravn dutifully followed her, gliding silently from tree to tree as she strayed further from the waterfall. She gathered a few ripe fruits and then headed back, munching on them along the way.
Day faded to evening, and evening faded into night.
Glancing upward, Starr glared hatefully at the full moon. It had turned a deep and dark red. If one looked close enough, the crest of Shilen herself could be seen, seemingly etched into the moon’s face.
She muttered a curse. No wonder she hadn’t been sleeping well. Her thoughts turned to the lavender she had. She’d been avoiding using it, not wanting a repeat from before. But, he was gone and seemingly not coming back soon.
Quickly she built a small fire outdoors, more ventilation, or so she hoped, and brewed herself some of the lavender to drink. She made absolutely certain to follow Valekinsia’s instructions to the letter. Taking a sip, she winced at the taste. She took a steadying breath and then downed the bitter brew as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, this was only one of several mouthfuls she had to down. Once she’d successfully downed them, seven in all, she grimaced at the taste and soundly cursed the dark elves for having that wretched affliction that forbade her from simply soaking in the lavender. Then she put a few fragrant leaves in the fire, letting them cover and replace the remaining scent of the lavender before dousing the flames altogether.
Retreating inside the cavern behind the falls, she readied for bed and attempted to go to sleep.

Shin approached an area downstream of the waterfall quietly, shifting the satchel of butchered meat off his back and lowering it into a protected alcove in the water to keep it cool and fresh and hopefully away from scavenging animals. Stepping further downstream, he washed up and then climbed out of the water. Digging in a rucksack, he donned a pair of soft leather pants and shirt and then hefted his plate armor and began making his way back upstream to the waterfall.
As he drew closer, he could hear soft sounds of laughter. Drawing nearer, he saw soft pools of light surrounding the area. He hadn’t placed those there. Puzzled, he set the heavy armor down and vanished from sight quickly and crept stealthily toward the sound and the light. The source of the light became obvious when he saw small glowing orbs evenly spaced around the pool of the waterfall.
Gazing out upon the pool of water that gathered at the base of the falls, he saw Starr. She was laughing as she threw water into the air. The water would then freeze midair and fall back down softly as snow, hinting at undeveloped spellcasting abilities.
The most startling thing though was that she was completely unclothed. And then she moved unsteadily through the water and dove underneath. Tracking her movements through the water was somewhat difficult until he noticed a silvery trail of fragile ice on the surface that briefly marked her progress until it was broken by ripples.
Watching her for a few minutes, he wondered if she’d gotten into his store of liquors. It would certainly explain her uncharacteristic actions. He made his way to the water’s edge and knelt down where she was sure to come up for air. When she broke the surface, the two of them came face to face.
Starr gasped and pulled back suddenly when she surfaced and saw the unexpected form looming in front of her on the bank of the water. But when she could focus properly, she recognized him and relaxed. She knew she should be alarmed, worried even, that he’d caught her. But, she couldn’t hold onto the thought long enough to remember exactly why.
“What are you doing?” He asked calmly, avoiding allowing his eyes to rove over her. He took a subtle sniff, trying to catch a whiff of liquor.
“I don’t know, what’s it look like I’m doing?” She blurted out without thinking. Blinking in confusion at her own statement, she shook her head and laughed.
“Have you been drinking?” He questioned, not actually caring if she had, but if this was going to be the result, he needed to put a plan in place to prevent her from over indulging.
“You have wine?” She asked in excitement. “I’d love some wine the humans make. It’s sweet and made from something called a blackberry.”
Shin shook his head. “No. I don’t have wine.” Ale and a fair selection of hard brews he had in abundance. And she’d entirely misinterpreted his question. Standing, he moved away and began moving to the cavern entrance, speaking as he did so.
As he moved, Starr’s gaze fixated on him, slightly glazing over. He’d already removed his armor before arriving. The soft leather clothing he wore revealed more of his natural lines to her gaze. Her mind raced back to the night where she’d first used the lavender.
After seeing him, she’d been unable to get him out of her mind and had pleasured herself to his image. Her mouth went dry. What would it be like to be … She shook her head furiously.
Meanwhile, Shin turned to ask if she’d heard him and noticed that she’d been staring at him rather intently. And he recognized the look in her gaze.
Lust.
He’d seen it in enough women’s eyes to recognize it, even in the eyes of a light elf who wanted to hide it.
Turning away from her, he continued into the cavern and took stock of the situation. His eyes swept around the interior and landed on the small little glass she’d left on a table. Picking it up, he sniffed it and smelled the tell tale aroma of the lavender. It wasn’t enough to set him off, but it was enough to notice and identify.
But, it got him to thinking. Maybe the light elves had begun soaking in it because drinking it had the same effect on them that merely smelling it had on dark elves? Her current actions seemed to support that theory.
His mind raced. The honorable thing would be to leave her alone and let the effects wear off on their own. But he couldn’t deny that he wanted her, badly. He’d wanted her since he’d first met her. Except, he’d never been able to broach any kind of friendship with her in order to further his goals. She’d remained stubbornly resistant and off-putting.
So, he’d been honorable, and let her go.
Honorable had simply landed them back in this predicament. His jaw clenched as his eyes narrowed as he contemplated simply giving her what she’d unknowingly told him she wanted. Glancing at her empty glass on the table, he turned and headed to the liquor cabinet. He grabbed a bottle of liquor, a strongly brewed human whiskey, and an extra glass. He set them both on the table next to her empty one. He then proceeded to shed his clothes before grabbing the liquor and both glasses and headed back outside, casting his magic and hiding himself from view.
Outside, he noticed that she’d resumed her previous antics, throwing water into the air and freezing it into little snowflakes. But she was now taking quick glances around her, clearly on the lookout for him. Coming around to the opposite side of the pool to her, he dropped his concealment spell and began stepping into the water, making no effort to conceal her effect on him.
Hearing a light splash behind her, she whirled around and saw him entering the water. “What are you doing?” Her voice tremored in light panic even through the intoxicating effect of the lavender potion she’d consumed earlier.
Shin met her gaze and held it steadily, almost challengingly. “Same as you.” He retorted softly. Once in the water, he sat down on a convenient boulder and placed the liquor bottle and glasses on the rocks next to him and poured himself a drink, tossing it back swiftly. He poured himself another glass, set it on the rocks and then poured her one and offered it out her. “I don’t bite.” At least, not yet, he thought…
Starr gazed at the proffered liquor. Indecisiveness gripped her. But the pull of the lavender cocktail she’d fixed earlier won out and she approached him. Taking the glass, she delicately sniffed the contents. The biting smell of a strong liquor met her nose.
Sensing her hesitation, he prodded. “Drink up. This is one of the many liquors that my kind, now our kind, drink regularly.” He tossed his second glass back easily, not feeling an ounce of guilt for reminding her that she was now effectively as much a dark elf as he was, seeing as she was likely one of the last, if not the last, of her kind.
Her lips pursed in momentary anger and downed the glass. The fiery liquid burned her throat and stomach and she blinked back tears as she coughed. How the blazes had he managed to drink it without batting an eyelid?!
Grinning slightly, Shin laughed lightly, though no less challengingly. “Level one. Good girl.”
Starr glared at him and then splashed water at him in retaliation. After a few more drinks, she noticed that the burning sensation was significantly dulled. But so were her other senses.
Shin watched her shrewdly. The more she drank, the more looks she gave him. Eventually, her earlier relaxed mood returned.
He distracted her a bit by having her create more snowflakes. As she did so, his hands slid underwater and gently gripped her hips and pulled her closer.
She stopped her movements and glanced at him.
“You know what else we do when we drink?” He whispered up at her, nudging her legs apart with his knees, making it harder and harder for her to balance as her legs spread further apart.
He tightened his grip on her hips and pulled her forward and down, making her sit on him. Her mouth opened in a gasp and he took advantage of it and kissed her soundly while keeping her in place on his lap. The feel of her slickness sliding over him was staggering.
Starr meanwhile felt his length throbbing under her. She was experienced enough to know he hadn’t entered her, but he easily could if he wanted.
“If you don’t want this, you’re free to go. All you have to do, is say ‘I don’t want this.’.” He gently nipped at her collar bone as his hands slid up her sides and one tangled in her hair as he kissed her again. The other cupped her breast and then began lightly teasing the tip of her tit, gently tugging and rolling it.
Starr stayed stubbornly silent and still, but he wasn’t discouraged. In between nips, he questioned her. “Do you want to stop?”
She shuddered as the alcohol and lavender coursed through her veins. Her head tilted back as his lips closed around her tit and suckled gently, his tongue swirling around it. Moving on their own, her hands trailed up to his head and gently held him to her.
Feeling her hands on his head, Shin shifted beneath her, sliding his cock along her wet slit. Back and forth, until he began to feel her making her own small movements. Stopping, he basked in the feel of her moving herself along him.
Releasing her tit from his mouth, he kissed her soundly. Gripping her hips, he raised her off of him and caught her gaze as he positioned her over his cock, the tip just grazing her. She needed to tell him no now if she wanted to stop.
“You had your chance…” He growled, his voice rougher than he’d intended, as he swiftly pulled her onto his cock.
The suddenness of his entry took her breath away. And she could tell he was stretching her more than her previous lovers had. She felt him raising her up and then lowering her again. The pace was slow at first. His hands then slid from her waist to her ass and suddenly the pace picked up significantly as he started bucking into her from underneath.
Gritting his teeth, Shin groaned beneath her. Although she was silent, he could hear the changes in her breathing, indicating the level of her pleasure. She was enjoying this.
Pulling her off of him, he stood up and placed her on her knees on the boulder he’d been sitting on and leaned her forward over the edge of the pool. The moss covering the rocks was soft and thick, providing her with plenty of cushioning.
As he pushed his cock back into her, he placed one hand on her hip to angle her and his other hand snaked around her chest and rested lightly against her throat, fingertips splayed against the soft flesh of her neck.
Her first audible groan reached his ears. Experimentally, he scraped his fingertips against her neck and felt a shudder go through her. He grinned and then leaned forward to kiss the back of her neck. It seemed she liked it rough. She was more dark elf than she thought.
Surprising him, she lifted herself onto her arms and began pushing back against him each time he thrust forward. This changed their pacing and rhythm. Removing his hand from her neck, he reached around and between her legs.
Starr reflexively closed her legs on his hand as much as possible.
Without warning, Shin took his free hand from her hip and slapped her ass. As soon as she unclenched her legs, his fingers found her clit and began playing with it. He rubbed the slippery bit of flesh, alternating between up and down strokes and circling it.
Soon, her back stiffened and she pushed herself back against him hard, a low groan coming from her throat. Her pussy spasmed around him, clenching him tighter and Shin grunted as he thrust twice more into her and then held as he felt himself exploding.
For long moments after, they simply stayed in that position, catching their breath. When Starr could think clearly again, she felt apprehension flow through her. What had she done? The dynamics of this…whatever it was… would forever be altered by their actions. Why had she allowed this?
Shin sensed the shifting of her mood and repositioned them in the water so that they were both sitting on the boulder and she was tucked into his side with his arm draped over her shoulders. Leaning over, he kissed her temple. Deciding to give her some time to process their actions on her own, he sat in silence with her, gently caressing her shoulder and arm.
But this allowed his own thoughts to creep in. There would be other’s like Micardrin. They would likely challenge him for her. He scowled fiercely at the thought.
He’d kill them all.
And although he had no reason to ever think Nathavin would challenge him, if he ever did, then he’d kill Nathavin too.
