Chance listened to Lulu... er, Ester's voice trying to remember what had made him so angry in the first place. He was so distracted he didn't even notice that the crowd had seemingly faded away into nothing more than floating balls of light with a ghostly aura. That is until Link cried out in pain and removed his mask quickly. Chance came back to the real world when Ester stopped singing as well and he rushed over to her as both father and daughter fell to the ground contorting into very unnatural positions.
"Ester! Ester! Speak to me!" he shouted, ignoring the now empty and suddenly very dark room. He reached out to grab her hand, but what he felt shocked him.
It was a paw. Somewhat larger than Ester's original hand, too. "What the... Ack!" Chance began choking and instinct told him to remove the mask that gave him his somewhat Terminan appearance. Taking it off, he transformed to his smaller self, and was now able to see two figures clearly in the room.
There was an old grey wolf and a large cougar in the place of Link and Ester respectively. both of them were unconscious.
"Which one do I wake up first?" Chance thought aloud. after all, if more than their bodies had been affected, he would be mauled by either, and if they saw the unconscious body of another animal... he did NOT want either of them snacking on family. In the end, he decided to let fate do what it wanted, since he couldn't decide. he made sure he was well out of their reach, and waited for one of them to move.

Ester was so in tune with the song, she never even noticed the entire crowd disappearing until she felt a shill go through her spine. Her eyes opened, and before she could gasp, she clutched her throat. She tore off the mask, falling to her knees, trying to regain her breath. Everything was going black. She writhed in pain on the ground, and finally went down cold.
"Urgh...." Slowly her eyes opened, blinking. Turning her head, she slowly got up on her hands and what she thought was her knees. "Dad??" She cried out, looking around fearfully. She heard a low groan, and turned, her eyes turning huge. "D-dad...?" she whispered, slowly stepping away from the massive wolf. What was going on??

A low growl came from the Wolf's throat as his eye's met the cougar's figure. Link didn't realize that this was his daughter. He only thought it was a monster, and as a hero his duty said he should kill it. He began circling the cougar as though looking for a weak spot. then he saw it.
Her leg.
moving to a sitting position, he barked "Ester? Are you ok?" Chance remained at a safe distance in case they were going to be hostile toward him, but muttered "So you do have it in your lineage, then? Strange that the power of the Sacred Triforce even works in Termina!" to which link responded by growling in animal-speak, "How do you know about the Triforce?"
"I can't understand anything you two are saying. You know that, right?" Chance said, unaware of what link had asked. "Sooooo... any idea how to break the language barrier would be nice." placing his hand under his chin, the gears in his head began turning. "I've got it!" he said suddenly. Pulling out a black Keaton Mask with strange neon blue markings on it, he laughed a bit. "This should help out a bit. now then," He slapped on the mask, and was suddenly transformed into a black and neon blue Keaton. "So, what were you saying?" he said casually.

Ester stared at the wolf, slowly shrinking back. However, putting weight on her left arm made her yelp. Her eyes darted towards her now furry arm, which still had the bandage wound tight around it. For a moment she had completely forgotten about the wolf circling her as she gazed at her odd body. "W-what happened?!?" she squeaked, looking up.
The wolf in front of her spoke, something she never expected any animal to do! She cocked her head, "Dad? Is that you? Why are we animals?? Where are we??"
Her head turned to see Chance change into a fox like creature. "I....I don't understand any of this! Where did everyone go??" Ester looked around, sniffing curiously at the orbs of light nearby.

"They didn't go anywhere." Chance said, a little amused at Ester's behavior. "We did." making what could be considered a bow in his Keaton form, he addressed the two cordially. "Welcome to the twilight!"
Link let out a low growl. "I assume you lived here before?" he asked.
"Naturally!" Chance replied. Sighing contentedly, he said "Good to be home! But... something feels... off. Let's find a way out of here." he looked around, then spotted a window that was open. "C'mon, let's go!" and without waiting for a reply, he jumped out the window by way of some old crates sitting next to it.

Ester was getting even more confused even as her questions were answered. "The... Twilight?" she meowed, still sniffing around. Her ears twitched and she turned to see the two of them jump out the window. "H-hey! Wait up!" Carefully, she clambered onto the crates and hopped out the window, taking care not to land on her bad leg.
Everything was so dark, but oddly enough, Ester could see it very well. 'Maybe it's because I'm some kind of cat now... I can see in the dark!' Slowly she padded along behind them. Suddenly, her fur prickled. A dark hand took hold of her hind leg and lifted her into the air. Ester let out a startled roar, the feline version of a scream, as she met face to face with a dark creature of the Twilight. "Let go!" she snapped, swinging her big paws at it, managing to scratch it. But it still wouldn't let go.

"Ester! hang on!" Link growled out as he charged at the creature. jumping up and latching onto it's chest, he began tearing the thing apart viciously. In surprise, and a lot of pain, the creature dropped Ester and fell to the ground. Instead of dissipating into smoke, however, the creature formed a portal above Clock Town.
"Ester! ohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh! Speak to me!" Chance shouted, thinking the creature had hurt her more than it actually had.
Link began spitting out stray bits of Twilit Messenger flesh and growled. "That tasted horrible!!!" he barked.
"Well what did you expect? they aren't exactly roast cuckoos you know!" Chance snapped. "Now more will show up unless we find a way to heal Ester's leg. too bad there aren't Great Fairies in the Twilight! Any ideas?"

Ester clawed at the creature, but its long arms prevented her from striking anything other than the arms. However, a dark grey figure darted into view and latched onto the creature's chest. The feline felt the hand release her, and she dropped onto the ground. With how high she was dropped, she winced, landing on her side. "Owww..." she groaned, slowly getting up only to have the Keaton run up to her, yelping about how she might be hurt. "Hey! I'm fine... rgh!" She grit her teeth once more from the pain.
She sat down, trying to think of what they might have that would help. "Hey that's right! Remember that bottle of stuff the Deku Queen gave me? Maybe that'll work!"
_____________________________________________________
"You know, that actually might work!" Chance said, producing the bottle as if out of nowhere. "So... ummm, I guess you're supposed to drink it?" he asked, letting a giggle escape his lips when he realized she would be lapping it up like a cat. As she ingested the liquid, her leg healed itself rather quickly.
"We should keep moving. That creature isn't the only one around here. I can smell more headed this way." Wolf Link said, lifting his nose to the wind. He turned to Chance "Do you know of a safe place we could go?"
Chance thought about it for a while. when he finally spoke, there was uncertainty in his voice. "Under normal circumstances, we could go to the Twilight version of Ikana Canyon where my Twilit Fortress is located, but I'm willing to bet that whoever did this to Clock Town has set up shop there, and I don't have enough info to know what we are fighting here. In any case, There really aren't many safe places here." Then he added "Not with him here anyway!" without explaining who he was referencing at all.
Link caught his meaning immediately and started laughing. Or at least what could be considered a laugh for a wolf. he was laughing so hard that his animal instincts kicked in and he rolled over on his back, still making what amounted to a laughing noise. "What's your problem?" Chance asked, annoyed.
"Oh *snicker* it-it's nothing." Wolf Link cackled. "It's just that if I know him and how he works *more laughter*, He isn't himself anymore. Man, I wish I could see his face!" After getting a lot of laughter out of his system, Link got up off his back. "We need to get this place back to normal. any ideas?"

Ester took the bottle, popping it open by using her teeth to pry the cork out. "Alright, here goes!" She started to lap up the contents, though it was hard to get used to using her tongue in such a weird way! She could feel a heat emanating from her leg, and the pain started to fade.
"Ahh... that's so much better!" Ester bounced to her feet, eager to get going after that attack. Ester cocked her head at the two of them as they conversed, and her dad fell to the ground laughing. "Wait... Who are you talking about? Hold on, Dad, you've seen this before?" She looked very confused. "What did you do last time this happened?"
_____________________________________________________
Link tensed up. "Uhhhhhh... No never seen it before in my life. Stop spouting nonsense!"
"Jeez, what's his problem?" Chance asked Ester as Link looked into the distance again as if remembering his past.
"I'm fine, alright, now let's keep moving before-" Link couldn't finish his sentence before three Twilit messengers surrounded them. "Shit!" Link swore. "Ester, we need to make sure they all die at the same time or they'll revive each other. Don't ask how I know that, just make sure we kill one and then the other two die simultaneously. Chance and I will keep these two busy while you kill that one. Now GO!" he barked as he started taunting the nearest Twilit messenger.

Ester couldn't help but arch a brow at her father's reaction. Or, what could be considered a brow in cat terms. It was very obvious he was just trying to cover up something, but she dismissed it. As much as she hated all the lies he had hid from her over the years, she was sure he only did it to protect her.
Suddenly, Ester's tail puffed up, seeing the Twilit messengers appear. "Oh crap..." she whispered, eyes big. Though she wasn't entirely sure how, her instincts kicked in. Teeth were bared, claws unsheathed, her long slender tail whipped back and forth as she stared down her enemy. She truly looked like a wild animal, ready to dig its fangs into its prey's throat.
At once she launched herself directly at the shadow creature, claws digging into the dark flesh. It let out a howl, taking hold of her with its large hands, but Ester bit down on its shoulder, close to the neck. It howled again, swatting at the cat, but Ester kept at it, hurting it until it couldn't stand. She felt it collapse beneath her, but she didn't let go until it stopped moving, and finally, it died. Releasing her vice-like grip, she panted, staring down in surprise at the corpse. "I... did that?"
