On Wings of Insanity
Chapter 1: Continuous
Nightmare
Tira lunged straight for Siegfried
in an almost dance like state. Holding Requiem steady, Siegfried took a step
forward and easily parried Tira’s first blow. As she was sent stumbling to the
ground, Siegfried spun around to face her back and kicked her roughly in the
posterior. Holding his blade close to the girl’s head, he smirked inwardly but
didn’t show it. Maybe she wasn’t worth
worrying about after all. That thought was soon ripped from his mind as he
suddenly felt weightlessness grip him. Coming to his senses, he realized that Tira
had tripped him with her odd ring and was now sitting on his chest with her
legs folded, laughing like a hyena. “Bwahahaha! What was that!? I thought you
were going to be stronger than that.” Tira’s voice suddenly grew dark and
foreboding. “I guess play time’s over…” She held her bladed ring inches above
Siegfried’s head, intending to finish him in one blow, when a grating pain shot
through her side. Dropping her weapon Tira clutched her side as she doubled
over in pain. Siegfried stood and tossed the bloodied dagger he was holding to
the ground. “Arrogant punk.” Siegfried hefted Requiem to rest on Tira’s neck.
The blade making a prominent red line along her gullet. As crimson fluid
dribbled freely from both her neck and from in between her interlocked fingers
at her side, Tira gazed up at Siegfried with a look of sheer joy. She laughed
again. That same obnoxious, yet calming laugh rang throughout the shaded
forest. “W-What…hahaha…what are you waiting for?” She managed between fevered
chuckles. “Hurry up and… hehehe… kill me.”
“Not until you tell me what
you meant by your ‘master’” This comment, caused Tira to laugh even harder.
Tears of both screaming pain, as well as un relinquishing amusement fell freely
from her clenched eyes before her demeanor changed instantaneously back to
grave seriousness. “I mean the body of Soul Edge.”
“Soul Edge? But how?”
Siegfried almost wavered as his greatest fear had just been confirmed. “Do not
toy with me wench! There is no way that Soul Edge exists!”
“Oh, aren’t you just the
cutest little IDIOT I’VE EVER SEEN!” This caused another burst of infectious
laughter from Tira, and Siegfried had had enough. Pressing Requiem harder on
the nape of her neck, Siegfried growled in a low rumbling voice. “Speak now, or
so help me, I will take your head with me in a basket!”
“Oooh, scary!” Tira smirked
slightly before sighing. “I guess telling you won’t hurt, if it means I can
keep my head. Although, the idea of being skull fucked is kind of a turn on.”
She gulped when Siegfried’s sword cut even deeper, drawing forth even more
blood. “Ok ok big boy, just leave enough of my air pipe so I can talk!”
“Then talk!” he barked.
“I heard rumors that a strong
warrior was going around slaughtering people left and right. And I had to meet
him. When I caught up the ‘Azure Knight’ it seemed that I was too late. He had
left his armor lying in the middle of a chapel and disappeared.” Siegfried’s
scared eye twitched as he remembered discarding his old armor and shattering it
to peaces. “Go on,” He said with venom in his tone.
“There was this weird bald
guy with a scythe just standing in front of the armor. He waived his hand over
it after about an hour of doing nothing and then walked away. Moment’s later,
the armor began to rattle and pick it’s self up, forming into a person holding
a weird sword! But I didn’t care; I knew that he was the man for me.” Damn it... How is it possible that he has
been revived, without a host?
“I ran from where I was
hiding and spoke to the man. He almost killed me, but that only made me want
him more, kind of like how I feel now.” Siegfried’s scowl hardened as the grip
on his sword tightened even further. “Aaaaaanyway…..” She began again, “I told
him I would do anything he asks of me just as long as I get to kill lots and lots
of people! And he said that he only wanted me to find his imprisoned body, and
he told me to look for, and kill you... And here we are.” She finished with a
smile so sweet, it would cause an anorexic to start eating again.
“Now, if you would be so kind,”
Tira said as she bent backwards swiftly away from Siegfried’s blade and
promptly trusted her boot squarely in Siegfried’s midsection causing him to
double over. “I have a job to finish.” She hefted her circular ring of doom
high over her head, preparing to finish off the stunned Siegfried when she
paused suddenly. Soon a stately raven flew over to Tira and sat on her
shoulder. A jagged metal fragment clutched in it’s blackened claw. “What have
we here?” She asked before lightly kissing the bird on the top of its head.
“Look’s like it’s your lucky day old man.” Tira laughed loudly before bounding
up into the trees again. The only evidence of her even being there were a
rather sizable pool of blood staining the ground and a dazed, confused
Siegfried. “It seems that this fight has only just begun…” Siegfried stood up,
brushed off his grieves and stalked through the woods once again. This time,
being more watchful of his surroundings, because he knew that that wouldn’t be
the last time he came to blows with that enigmatic woman.
Author’s Note: A good friend
of mine told me that he would rather have short chapters rather than long ones.
Now I rather long ones, but I choose to keep things short, so I was wondering
what you all think? R&R if you please.
