Tresure 2 (Nate's POV)

Skeletons in the Closet pt 1

It was now Wednesday, Sully and I were to meet Selina at Red Lobster. I was curious as to why Sully wanted us to dress nice, it was only Red Lobster but whatever.

I didn’t really do anything for the whole day. I arrived at the Red Lobster at 5:45 p.m. and was waiting for Sully and Selina to show up. My cell phone began ringing.

“Hello?” I asked after raising the device to my ear. It was Sully.

“Hey Nate, I’m not gonna be able to make it. But, you and Selina can still have fun without me.” I could tell he was scheming something.

“What do you mean fun? Isn’t she like a daughter to you?” I asked, feeling I guess embarrassed and awkward.

“Yeah, but hey, I wouldn’t object to you two hooking up. I know she’d be safe with you. She does like you ya know.” I rolled my eyes.

“Ha ha very funny Sully.” I sighed, rolling my eyes and my right hand rubbing my temple. Sure, I’ve been alone with Selina but only on our hunts.

“Well, talk to you later, kid. Have fun.” Sully chuckled then hung up.

I put my phone back in my slacks, sighing and looking at the table. ‘Man, what to do now?’ I liked Selina but hey, why tell her? She may not feel the same way and that would ruin our friendship. I didn’t wanna risk that. I know I can count on her to have my back, I trust her with my life.

I then noticed that Sully made the reservation under my name. ‘Is he trying to get us together?’ I wondered.

I was snapped out of my thoughts when I heard a familiar voice, “Drake, party of 3.” I looked to the entrance which was barely visible and my jaw dropped.

It was Selina but not how I usually saw her. On our hunts, her hair is up in some kind of clip and she wears tank tops and shorts. Not that its bad on her. I enjoy the scenery on our hunts is all I’ll say.

But now…she was wearing a long black dress that had two long slits to show off her legs. And let me tell ya, she has amazing legs. The straps tied around her neck and her long, wavy black hair went to her waist. She was also wearing make-up, not like she needed it. Her lips were stained with red and black eyeliner outlined her eyes, making the dark green orbs stand out even more. And she was also wearing heels.

She smiled sweetly and I could only see her mouth out a Hello. God, she looked so gorgeous!

“H-hi.” I managed to say, recovering myself pretty quickly.

Selina’s phone rang as the waitress dropped off the glasses of water. I quickly took a swig and didn’t even catch the conversation she just had. “That was Sully. He said he couldn’t make it.” I noticed her eyes kind of darting around everywhere, a sign that she was nervous.

“Really?” I tried thinking of something to not make the situation awkward. “So…how’s your wound doing?” I asked but felt stupid afterwards. ‘Some question!’ I scolded myself harshly.

“Not too bad, especially with the meds they gave me. I had to take a taxi here though.” she said, taking a sip of water. I was just also noticing how delicately she holds things. Mostly of the time, she has a gun or pistol and you don’t handle those delicately.

“And why’s that?” I asked curiously.

“Well, it says not to operate heavy machinery. I think a car is just over the limit.” she answered, grinning and running her finger along the curve of her glass.

“Yeah, more then likely. How’s Durga doing?”

“Just fine. Still trying to turn me to her side.” She responded, smiling somewhat. Selina told me not too long ago that Durga is a lesbian and had a huge crush on her. I found it to be pretty funny.

The waitress soon returned and took our orders. I ordered a Coke and Alaskan crab dinner. Selina ordered coconut shrimp and a Shirley Temple. “Shirley Temple? What’s that?” I’ve never heard of that drink.

“Its not alcoholic…I don’t drink. Its just Sprite with cherry flavoring.” she explained.

“Any reason you don’t drink? Not even on special occasions?” It was a shocker that I didn’t really know a lot about Selina, giving the fact we’ve been friends for about seven years or so.

“Well…the first time I did…I made a horrible mistake. I’d rather leave it at that. It practically ruined my life.” she answered, her beautiful face was a mix of sadness and loathing. I would have asked what happened but, I’ve seen her angry and its not something I’d want to be on the receiving end of.

The food arrived shortly afterward, but right as we were about to eat, the room filled with a strange gas. Before we passed out, along with everyone else, I heard Selina mutter a curse in what was probably Spanish.

When I regained consciousness, I saw Selina, who was still unconscious and we were in the back of what I assumed was a van, I also saw a huge mansion coming into my vision. ‘Where are we going? What the Hell is going on?’ I wondered in my mind.

I’d move and get us out but my hands were handcuffed behind my back. I heard a soft groan from my side and noticed Selina coming to. I also noticed that her hands were cuffed in front. “You ok, Selina?” I asked in a hushed whisper.

“Peachy keen.” she whispered back, glaring out the window behind me. I barely heard her growl in distaste at the situation. It seemed as if she knew these guys.

The van screeched to a halt, causing Selina to roll into my body with a soft ‘Oof.’ from the woman. The men in the front exited the vehicle and opened the side door.

One man reached in and pulled Selina onto his left shoulder. “Hey!! Let me go you asshole!!!” she hissed beating her fists against his back. The henchmen just moved along, two more moving in and grabbing me.

“I can walk ya know.” I grunted as they pulled me along.

Two guards stood at the massive doors. They looked like usual goons in one of the James Bond movies or something. A black suit and tie with sunglasses on, even though its practically pitch black outside.

Other then hearing Selina’s curses and growls as then henchmen took us to some unknown place, it was a rather quiet march. A large mahogany door was opened by the man carrying Selina.

It was a large office that was covered in a red velvet carpeting. Several bookcases lined the green and gold colored walls. I heard Selina go quiet.

In front of the large bay window was a mahogany desk and a rather large pure leather, whoever was sitting in it was facing the window. “Here she is, sir.” the goon carrying my friend said, alerting the man in the chair to swivel around, revealing who he was.

“Put her down, Harold.” the man said, a deep voice and Spanish accent came from his throat.

The muscle known as Harold set Selina down, keeping his hands on her shoulders to keep her still. I then saw the look on Selina’s face…and boy was she pissed.

“Selina my dear, its been too long.” the man smiled, getting up and moving towards the woman.

‘Idiot. I’d stay away from her right now if I were you.’ I warned in my mind.

“Not long enough, Diablo.” she spat venomously, her eyes were impaling the man with a dagger-like glare.

“You know this creep, Selina?” I asked, confused by the whole situation. I’ve learned from my past experiences with Zombies and Yetis…you sometimes just have to go with the situation.

“Unfortunately I do. This bastard ruined my life.” every word was dripping with loathing.

“Please do not be that way my love. Its no way to address your husband.” My eyes went wide after that comment.

“Whoa wait, you’re married?! When’d that happen?” I asked, now curious of Selina’s past more then ever.

“You’ve told no one about me have you darling? That’s so upsetting.” he pouted, in a playful manner, just inches from Selina now.

Selina just kept glaring at the man. “Fine then, allow me to tell our story. I’ll use small words so this man-ape will understand.”

“I’m not some monkey, asshole!” I growled. This guy was a major asshole, think I see why Selina isn’t too fond of him.

“Well, It all started about 3 months before her twenty-third birthday. I had commissioned her to find some treasure for me. Its been so long the name of the treasure escapes me. Well, the entire expedition proved to be a farce…it wasn’t real! As you could understand, Selina was just flabbergasted, the poor dear.” he explained, hand on Selina’s cheek who was glaring daggers at the man in front of her. I could tell even though her back was facing me.

“So, I found her not too long afterwards at her old job in Las Vegas. She was a singer in the club Aqua de Vida. It is part of the casino Atlantis. She has such a beautiful voice, I’m sure a man of your low class could see that as well. It was the first thing that made me fall for her. When I saw her, she was at the bar after her shift, four empty shot glasses beside her. It was such a sad sight. It was also the first time I did not see her with her friend…Teddy Raza I believe.”

“His name was Eddy Raja, douche bag!” she growled through gritted teeth.

“Ahh! That was it! Well, Selina and I talked for a good while and then I proposed, after a few drinks and she said yes. And we got married that night.” he finished with a nostalgic smile on his face.

“The only reason I said yes was because I was smashed. And if you recall correctly, I almost ripped your throat off the next day.” I could tell she was doing her best to control her anger.

“Well, the honeymoon was well worth it. I’ve given you my heart my dear. Such a valuable and fragile thing, it’s the greatest treasure I can offer you…besides my obscene amount of money.” he added with a cocky smirk on his face.

“Well, when you put it that way…” Selina whispered, moving close to her husband and running a finger on his chest. “Such a fragile thing…I would smash it into so many pieces, all it would be afterwards is dust.” she growled venomously, jabbing his chest, exactly where one’s heart is.

“Let’s get this straight, Diablo…I’d never marry you if I was of sound mind.” she hissed.

“Fine then, how about showing me which man in this room you’d rather be with.” this man she called Diablo demanded, he seemed rather childish.

“It’d be my pleasure.” Selina turned and faced me.

‘Wait…why is she coming over to me?’ I wondered. In a matter of seconds Selina’s soft lips were on mine. And God, she is a good kisser. Probably would’ve gotten into it if I wasn’t handcuffed. And the fact that this Diablo guy was giving me the scariest glare he could muster. But, it wasn’t that scary. I really hated it when she pulled away, but when she did, she gave me another kiss but it was so soft and quick it had me wanting more. ‘Damn she’s good.’

“You would rather be with this…commoner then, Antonio Diablo?!” the man named Antonio hollered, he sounds rather offended if you ask me.

“Yeah, in a heartbeat. He has a personality, he’s charming. And here’s the closer, I actually like being around him!” Selina explained, a confident grin on her face.

“Throw this harlot in the dungeon! Along with her Casanova as well!” Antonio ordered, the man known as Harold scooped Selina up again and we were hauled away to a basement that was converted into a dungeon.

We re then thrown into a cell, I was chained up to a wall while Harold threw Selina into a stone wall. Before she could attempt attacking the man, the jail cell door slid shut. “So, I’m charming? That’s nice to hear.” I chuckled, trying to relieve the tension coming off of Selina.

Selina just slid to the floor, frowning while staring at the stone floor. “So, what that Antonio guy said was true?” I asked, wanting nothing more then to see her smile, but nothing I say would work probably.

“Unfortunately yes…every last word is true. I just hoped he would leave me alone…I regret the whole thing.” she sighed, not even looking at me.

“What made you do it?”

“I was drunk as can be, like I said. When you’re drunk, your standards drop faster then you can think. Throw Las Vegas into the mix and it’s a recipe for disaster.” she explained.

“And to think, my first time was with that guy.” she added, palming her face in her right hand.

‘Wow. So I take it that whole situation is why you don’t drink anymore.” I took a stab in the dark.

“Exactly. The first time I did it, look what happened. You can see why I hate him! He’s obsessive, self-centered and spoiled.”

“Just who is he, never heard of the guy?” I asked curiously.

“Antonio Diablo, his parents created Diablo Enterprises, a company that makes firearms for the military. He was handed his fortune. He doesn’t deserve any of it!”

“Is that what you think, Selina my love?” we both looked to the door and saw Antonio. His black hair slicked back and dark brown eyes gazed at Selina with pure lust. Wearing a saggy long-sleeved white blouse that showed off his chest and black slacks.

‘He acts like he’s God’s gift to Selina. God I feel sorry for her.’

“What the hell do you want now?” Selina asked, that deathly glare once again planted on her face.
