Author's Note: After I beat story mode to MK9, I found a very strong interest in both Sindel herself as a corrupted bitch, and her relation to Kitana. I'm going a bit darker here than I have in the past, but hey, it's Mortal Kombat, I think a series filled with fatalities and grotesqueries can handle this content in a fanfic. Plus, I got to try some atypical concepts. I'm not promising anything, but I think I may add another chapter once the Skarlet DLC comes out.

Despite ten thousand years of life, and months raped among the dead, the realm of conjurers remained a sickly sight to the assassin-princess. Kitana stared as the soul frame became the wrinkled, ghastly pale flesh of a woman, as fresh hair sprouted from its bald scalp and bare mons in reverse-skunky grey and black stripes, as subtle crow's feet hid behind thick black eyeliner and the light purple eyeshadow beneath thin eyebrows. Opened eyelids revealed the strange woman's blank white eyes, dissolved of any emotion but that which Quan Chi chose for her.

Kitana's fan paused as she gazed, despairing as the nude beauty sat up with both legs held against her chest by crossed arms, returning a crazed pearly grin framed by soft lavender lips.

"Fiend? Ha! You're one to talk, vile wench," the woman spat.

"Mother..."

As she rose from the ground, Sindel's mature figure unfurled before her daughter like an unwrapping gift, pressing her hands to her hips in wide-legged stance. 'Relieve themselves'. The true cause of such insults, Quan Chi's mind-altering sorcery, did nothing to dilute her mother's venomous words. Balancing herself, Kitana staggered upright and stepped closer. "I refuse to fight you mother, not for Quan Chi. I suffered for months in the Netherrealm, but I would rather go back to that than help him turn you into a monster."

Sindel cackled, grinning mad, using her powers to hover on misty purple energy. "You think you have a choice? Our master demands we fight. If you aren't willing, his magic will force you to act, the same as when you obediently accepted your months-long training to become the Netherrealm's nastiest skank."

As if cued by the words themselves, Kitana's hands dug into the sand, pulled out her prized fans and wrist-whipped them forward. A quick, easy duck by Sindel left an opening, one Kitana's body exploited as she flew toward her in a flurry of Pretty Kicks.
