Jessa slept hard but moved in her sleep. She had at some point put her arm around his shoulders. The sun was invading the room but they were both oblivious to it. There as a knock at the door, Jessa startled awake. Olcsealgaire twitched his eyelids in his sleep. "Shh." She soothed, rubbing his neck willing him back to sleep. He relaxed again under her hands. She rose carefully covering him back up.
She stretched and went to see who was at the door. Valina was standing there ready for the day. She could not hide the surprise on her face when Jessa opened the door instead of the hunter. "Umm…"
"He's asleep and I intend him to stay that way." Jessa's voice was firm. "I'll be down in a bit since I am starved."
Valina looked at her and almost laughed but then thought about how the hunter could be and was thinking there is no way he would let her that close to him, she would know she had tried. "So how long do you think he should sleep? Usually he beats us both up so sorry if I woke you."
"It is alright I slept and am starved anyways. I do not know since he is actually out. Would it be a big deal if we just let him be until he did wake on his own?"
"I do not think Davin would mind since when he does sleep he definitely more agreeable." She smiled at the mage. Jessa went back into the room but did not close the door. Seeing the hunter stretched out on the bed, she could only smile because really in her heart she knew he needed taking care of. She just had not been able to crack through the wall he had around himself. In her heart, she hoped the wizard could, for the man needed it but then she just liked taking care of people. Jessa grabbed her bag, looked at the still form on the bed, and shook her head. She grabbed all of his armor off the chair.
Valina stuck her arms out. "Here I can do that." Jessa smiled at her.
"Seems we both want to take care of him."
"I have tried but I think I am too impatient for him." She frowned.
"Its ok I can be more stubborn trust me. Do you have any idea what has happened to him to make him this way?"
"No he won't talk about it at all. If you ask, he just avoids your questions. I do know he is a fully trained hunter and has been for more than five years." She let the monk have his armor and closed the door quietly. Davin came up behind them.
"Something wrong?" He asked slight concern in his voice.
"No, she managed to get him to sleep so we decided to let him do so." Valina smiled.
"That is good we can let him be, I know he has not slept the last two nights so he probably needs it even more than usual." He started down the hall to the stairs. "Should I order for the three of us?"
"Please, I am famished as always." Jessa giggled.
"I'll take these to be cleaned and be with you guys shortly." Jessa headed to the washroom so she could change and be ready for the day.
Davin and Valina were sitting at a table in the corner when she came down in her blue form. She was carrying her gauntlets but was otherwise put together. Her hair was on top of her head in a tight bun. She sat down quietly waiting for her breakfast.
"So how did you do it?" Valina asked a gleam in her blue eyes.
"Do what?" She looked confused.
"Get him to even lay in the bed, let alone sleep that hard."
"As I said I am stubborn, besides it was hard for him to try to sleep in the chair since I was in it." She smiled at this. "Getting him to sleep however that was a chore." She flexed her hands, they were sore from having to try to get the knots out his neck.
"I did not even think to try touching him; he is so damn standoffish that I figured I would get snapped at or worse if I did."
"Honey he needs it whether or not he admits it. He is not the first one I have been around like that. It just takes time and practice."
Davin laughed. "The question though is why do it in the first place?"
"Because he is blind to what he needs Davin, why he is this way it is hard to know, I could almost guarantee his childhood was not pleasant." She sighed thinking about how difficult this was going to be but he had such an allure about him she had to try to find what was under the façade of pain he presented.
"I never looked at it that way. I just figured that is how he was all the time."
"No it is not natural to be so distant and so closed off the way he is." She frowned hard.
Valina put her hand on Jessa's shoulder. "Maybe all of us can help so maybe he can find peace inside himself."
"Perhaps, I just wish I could open his mind and see all the things in there that are making him that way. I have a feeling prying them out of him is going to be a lot of work." The innkeeper set their plates before them finally. "So what are we going to do once he wakes up?"
"We need to find the old man in the cathedral." They were each attacking their breakfast heartily. "From there we will have to see. If he sleeps all day so be it in some ways the rest would not do any of us harm."
Valina nodded. "So what spells do you use Jessa? I am just curious as far as tactics are concerned." She had moved her hand from the wizard's shoulder but she really wanted to touch more of her.
"Mostly electrocute, my hydra and arcane orbs. I use the force to spread things from me but with you guys here I may switch that since I have a feeling you and Davin will be good at keeping things away from me." She smiled.
Valina chuckled. "The expert at that is upstairs. I swear sometimes he has another sense."
Davin nodded. "It’s like he knows what the enemy is going to do before the enemy does it. Once you see what he does in battle, you will be amazed. I have been with other hunters before but that man is amazing."
Valina laughed. "He is not exaggerating at all."
Jessa smiled at the thought that he was that talented. Maybe she had found a good group this time. "As much as I slept I feel like I did not at all." She sighed.
Valina looked at her closely. "Maybe you need to catch up like someone else is." She laughed.
They were all close to being done with their meal. Jessa did finish and got up first. "Maybe I will go nap until he does wake up." She sauntered away slowly as she ascended the stairs.
"She sure seems taken with him for some reason or is it me?" Davin nodded.
"Maybe she is right and he has had a shitty life and that is the reasoning for the way he is." He frowned wondering what could make someone into what the hunter was.
"She's probably right unfortunately." She sighed as she got up. "I am going to go get our armor. Did you need anything else?"
"No. I am going to go check on a couple things while we are waiting."

Jessa tiptoed back into Olcsealgaire's room. He had tossed the coverlet off him again but was laying on his back now. She sighed at how tense he looked. "I wish I could just reach in and take it even if just for a little while so you could rest." She sat on the bed gently and he flinched in his sleep. "Shh it’s only me." She touched his face gently the scar rough under her fingertips. Her voice seemed to be enough for him to subconsciously realize that she was not there to harm him because he settled again. She did not try to cover him back up. She sat there admiring the view and trying to imagine what he would look like filled out. She yawned and curled up next to him. She put her arm around him and almost cried because he was so thin she could easily feel where his bones were. He did not move or flinch when she touched him. She fell asleep easily.

Valina brought their armor upstairs. Tossing Davin's on his bed she left her own in her room. Olcsealgaire's she took to his room but thought maybe she should let him be. She lightly tapped at the door. Jessa heard it but did not want to move.
"Yes?" Her voice was sleepy.
Valina opened the door. She was whispering. "Sorry I figured he would want this back." She smiled at his sleeping form. "You must have some kind of magic about you that is more than arcane, I have never seen him so still or relaxed." She set the clean armor on the chair that was not by the bed.
Jessa smiled at her. "I am trying, this is not easy." Valina walked close to the bed.
"I imagine it isn't, he seems difficult at best at times." Jessa turned her head so she was looking at the monk. Olcsealgaire was breathing very evenly with sleep.
"He seems more settled when I am close to him for some reason."
Valina nodded. "When we have had to share or be in the open he does that to me too. I have tried to even just be in here with him but he so blatantly refused I did not want to push it. She noticed how sad Jessa looked. "Is something wrong or bothering you?"
"Yeah, him. It is hard to understand why he does not bother to eat. I know there are people that neglect themselves but I have never seen someone neglect eating the way he seems to have." She sighed.
"I know I do not understand it either." She picked up the chair and put it close to the bed. "Maybe if we do this right we can get him to see that him doing that affects us too." She reached across the wizard and caressed his face. He did not seem to notice.
"That will be hard since I will have to get him to open up about why he is that way. Pushing him too much and he will close right back up again I am sure." Jessa snuggled against him and closed her eyes.
Valina smiled at him so still laying there. She reached for Jessa's back to help her relax. Jessa purred at being touched. "You don't mind that it is me and not him doing that?"
"I wish he would but I have a feeling that is going to be awhile, there is so much pain in him it will take time before he realizes that he needs to reciprocate. Why would I mind?"
Valina smiled as she worked on her shoulders. "Some are weird about having someone of the same sex touch them except in completely non-intimate ways."
"Naah not me. I do not mind one bit. “She turned so she was on her side facing the hunter. She put her arm around him. She wanted to curl up on him but she figured he would get pissed or worse she might hurt him since he was so thin.
Valina worked the mage's stiff back into something much more relaxed. "You need taken care of if you are going to try to take care of him, it’s the least I could do since I am not good at taking care of him."
Jessa studied Olcsealgaire's beat up face and wondered who could hurt him in any way. Sure, he was not what most would desire but he just looked like if he was filled out he would be this sexy creature many would want. She giggled inside at this thought. Valina's hands on her back just felt heavenly. She wished he would hold her but she knew this was a dream at this point. Jessa fell back asleep easily. Valina tiptoed out of the room letting them be.
She went in her own room dressing in her armor but wondering if the hunter would sleep all day and if he did what would she do for the night.
