I can't see. Everything is pitch black, and my body is aching. My head seems to be the worst off. What the hell happened to me? Everything's kind of fuzzy. I slowly reach out my right hand, my body sluggish and unresponsive. My fingertips touch something that feels like a cloth, and I grab at it loosely. The cloth easily moves to the side, the sudden influx of light searing my eyes. What the hell is going on? After my eyes adjust, I sit up and look around. The room is small, filled with tables that have more white cloths on top of them. There is a door at the other end, almost blending in with the gray walls. I try to get off of the table, but my body doesn't respond, and I crash to the floor.
“Shit!” I curse, my body in pain from the fall. Almost immediately I notice something odd as I look at my hands. They are bare, my white sweatshirt ripped to pieces, and weird, swirling marks are running down my arms. What the fuck is this? What's wrong with me? I think, staring at my transformed body. My body is all covered in these glowing marks, my shoes shredded to bits and pants only covering up to my knees. Blood is crusted on my torso, and I can feel the sticky stuff on my right cheek. I bet I look like hell. I feel an acute pain across the back of my neck, and reaching my hand around to rub a...thing. I run my hand up and down the odd appendage, feeling its coarse and hard surface. Tugging on it does nothing at all. What the hell is it? Well, the pain isn't really bothering me so I'll leave it alone for now. Curious, I stumble over to one of the other tables, and lift the sheet to peer underneath. I gasp, my heart racing wildly as my brain registers the thing as a corpse. That wasn't what surprised me. What scared the shit out of me is that the body underneath isn't human in the least. It was small, coming up to my thigh, and purple in color. The stench emanating from the body was putrid, and the blood is still somewhat fresh on its corpse. The body itself reminds me of an eggplant, elongated and round, with a small head that makes it look almost comical. I don't know what kind of creature it could be, and I don't want to find out. If there are more of these things in here, then Isamu and Chiaki might be in trouble. I try walking slowly to the door, and open the handle to come out into the hallway I was looking for Ms.Takao in. Where I found that man with the terminal. I'm not going back that way, in case he's still there. I'm not gonna die yet. I go the other way, towards the gate and the elevator to go to the upper floors. Something just feels off, and I feel a chill go down my body as I walk towards the elevator. Oddly enough the gate's still open. I see a young lady in front of me, along with a blond man in a wheelchair. They seem to be calling me, beckoning me forward. Who is that? They vanish almost as quickly as they appear. I walk to the elevator, press the button to open the doors and stop short at what is before me. This is very different from the monotone gray of the hospital. The walls are red and brown, pulsing like a heartbeat, water flooding the corridor. I gingerly step inside, my feet becoming wet and making loud splashing sounds as I walk. I don't see anyone else here. Still, I feel uneasy as I look around this hellish space. I pedal backwards as I see a pillar of black light crash into the water. It clears almost immediately, two of those small, purple monsters in the center. They notice me and start clambering forward, opening their grotesque mouths. I hear something that sounds like a growl, and panic fills me as I keep moving backwards. Whatever those things are, they don't seem friendly. A laugh echoes in my mind, causing me to scream out in response. The hell is going on? The voice chuckles again, a deep, throaty sound, making me angry. Is this douchebag mocking me? Feeling a sharp pain in my ankle, I look down to see one of the purple things, its maw latched onto my leg. “Damn!” I cry out, trying to move backwards and failing. I fall to the floor, splashing in the ankle deep water, the monster still on top of me. I lash out at the tiny creature with my hand, its small limbs not having any power to dodge. It squeals as it falls away, its teeth covered in my blood. The other one is closing in on us. I try to get up, using the wall as a means to support myself. My leg hurts. Thankfully I can still support myself. I glare at the struggling purple blob, who is already up on its feet. They're both coming towards me. I hear the voice in my head again, its tone slightly annoyed. “You want to live, don't you? Then fight!” “What? These things will kill me,” I answer, watching the two creatures get closer, their mouths open with saliva dripping out. I'm scared. I don't want to die; what about my friends? I have to find them. Trying to steel myself, I glare at the closest monster and punch it. The blob goes flying back a few feet, its piddly legs and arms waggling in the air. The other one stares at me, its expression unreadable as it stops moving. I bet I scared the little shit. It only growls at me, and I respond in kind, screaming as I strike out again. My fist permeates its soft flesh, the cartilage bending and twisting under my power. The thing splashes into a bloody pool of water, groaning slightly. I smirk, my fear abating a little. I stare at my knuckles, watching the trail of blood run down my hand. Its not red like human blood; its purple or black maybe. I'm not real sure. I seem to have knocked that one out, as it doesn't get up again. The other one shrieks, an unholy wail, and runs off the other way. A grin pastes my face as I watch it run, an entrance opening up as it gets to the other side of the corridor. So there's a way out. Good. I think, slowly following after the thing. It won't hurt me. At least I hope not. Going into the door, I see that the path splits into left and right. I decide to take the right. After a while, I come upon another door and touch it with my finger. It recoils at my touch, the walls moving away to open to circular room. I walk inside, noticing the huge circular object with holes in it. There is another door past that, but it seems blocked with some red substance. The walls are crimson in color, tinging my body red and giving the room a creepy ambiance. The holes are black, and very small. I doubt I can fit inside, but maybe I can look through them. I peer into the hole, being careful not to stick my head too far in. All I can see is more of those red walls, and something that looks like a theater stage. It even has a red curtain, that automatically beings to move, like it senses my presence. My eyes widen with surprise as I see the young woman and old man again. Didn't think I'd see them here. Only the woman acknowledges me, the man remaining silent. “Welcome. My master is glad you have made it this far,” She says, her voice monotone and almost lifeless. “Master? You mean the old guy?” I ask, confused. She nods, motioning to the older man in the wheelchair. “Yes. He is surprised you have survived the ordeal, with your power as weak as it is now. Nonetheless, he wishes to entrust you with a very important task. He is seeking the rest of these candelabra’s, and they hold great importance to him. We wish for you to find all of them and bring them back to us,” she says, motioning to a small object behind the pair. From what I can see, there's nothing remarkable about it. I do feel some kind of power coming from it though. Do I want something this important? I'm not sure, and there's so much going on. “Can you tell me what's happened to me? I feel confused, and my body...” I trail off, unsure of what to say. The woman looks at her master, who nods as he folds his hands over one another. “Yes. In order to survive in this world, your body has been transformed. My master has gifted you with the power of magatama. With it, you are now a demon, which explains your odd appearance and new power. Do not be afraid. You will learn how to harness it in time. Or maybe not...” I can only gape at the news. I'm a...demon? Well, that explains the odd markings and thing on my neck. I feel overwhelmed. It takes me a couple seconds to respond. “I accept your request then. You helped me, so I'll return the favor,” I say, watching the lady grab the candelabra and hold it out to me. Even though we're not physically touching, I can feel the candelabra safely tuck itself in my pants pocket. The old man seems to be radiating some sort of power, but its weak. Who the hell are they? I see the old man grin, his waxen pale face distorting from its expressionless stare. He is still silent, and the only way I know our talk is over is because the curtain begins to come back down. I take my head out of the hole, feeling a sharp pain in my head. When I look around again, I'm back at the hospital's basement near the morgue. What the fuck just happened? I think, feeling the lump of the candelabra in my pocket. Maybe the old man did it again; he seems to have some strange powers. I wonder if he's a demon too. I hear the door across me open, and my jaw nearly drops as I see that odd reporter come out. What was his name again? I run over to him, the man reacting by gasping and backing up against the door. “Don't kill—oh, shit! Is that you, kid? What the fuck happened?” He says, finally recognizing its me. “I don't know. I feel different, stronger somehow,” I respond, feeling no reason to lie to him. The reporter, Hajiri, shrugs his shoulders. “Well, as long as you're alright. Listen though, I think I know how to get out of here. In that room, that terminal thing seems to react to various stimuli. I don't know what, but I feel it's important. Thing is we need to get out of here,” he says, animatedly gesturing as he talks. “Really? Great!” “Yeah, well, you can at least do something since you're a demon. I'm gonna stay here and look at this thing. I suggest you go to Ikebukuro; that city could be full of clues. Be safe, kid!” he says, opening the door to the terminal room and shutting it behind him. He seems kinda excited about this. I'll leave him to it. I need to get out of here. I think, turning away to go back to the elevator. I go back up to the first floor, dismayed that the entrance is caved in, rocks piled up too high to climb over. There are only two ways to go, so I pick the left route. I'm getting used to my new body, and I quickly climb up the stairs to the second floor. This room is much bigger, and there are demons prowling the hallways. I walk past and thankfully none of them try to attack me. Looking at another door, I see a way outside. Going out, I see a huge clear door, with a computer panel locking it. I try the ID card, but the door is still locked. I curse, unsure of what to do. “Hey!” A squeaky, high voice calls out. I see something small floating above me. Looking at it, it looks like some kind of fairy, very tiny and wearing a blue swimsuit. It flies closer to me, getting right up into my nose. I just stare at the thing, unsure of what it wants from me. It won't hurt me, right? “Yeah, you! I need to get out of here, but the card key's guarded by some scary demons. Can you please help me?” “Yeah, sure. I need to leave here too. I have friends I have to find,” I answer, the small fairy delighted at my answer. She buzzes around my face, and reminds me of some kind of bug or bee. It's both annoying and cute at the same time. At least I'm not alone now. “Alright! I'm a Pixie, of the Fairy clan. We're friends now,” she squeaks, flying onto my shoulder. I don't shake her off, even though she is a little heavy.
