Logan paced back and forth through his chambers as he massaged his temples, thinking of the tasks of today. Jasper had made sure everything was in order for the king to leave, but first he had to officially decide what to do with the old bridges in Mistpeak Valley. Logan ran a hand through his hair, thinking about his father and sister. Both heroes, adventurers and the two most kind people Logan had ever met. He was more like his mother. Curious, playful and he loved the luxury lifestyle. He wouldn't be a hero's son if he didn't know how to fight, though. He could definitely handle himself in battle and was a born leader. No one could deny that, if they could only remember his first years as a king. Of course they didnt, they only thought of him as the tyrant in between two kind and great rulers.

The two heroes of the family. One dead, the other mad. His joyless laughter broke the silence and he stood up with the intention to go outside so he wouldn't have to deal with these painful thoughts anymore.

When he walked past his mirror he stopped to check his hair, like he always did. It was just one of those old habits that remained from when he was still a teenager.

His hair looked great, however, his face did not. He sighed, rubbing his hands over it, even though he knew it wouldn't make him look any less tired. The dark circles surrounding his eyes were worse than ever and his skin was pale, making his scar even more visible. Even his frown seemed deeper than normal, which explained his headache. He was so stressed since they found his sister, he just needed to relax before going to the throne room. Someone knocked on the door of the princess' chamber. “Rose?”

She recognised the voice, but didn't know who it belonged to. She didn't want any visitors so she didn't answer. Are you awake?” The voice called again. “Rose, please let me in. I want to see you.” the voice pleaded. She just ignored it and stared out of the window from behind the small desk. “Rose” she softly repeated, saying it the same way the voice outside her door had done. The man had said her name like they were very familiar with each other. Like lovers maybe. Were they? Was he that handsome man she saw when she was rescued?

The door opened and the old man coming in startled her. “Princess, I got the paper and ink you requested.” She just nodded, not looking at him. “Thank you. Jasper, right?”

The man nodded. “Yes miss. I used to be your butler and if you wish, I will continue serving you during these hard times.”

She wasn't sure she could trust this man, but so far he was the only one who treated her like an adult. “Thank you, Jasper. I would like that. I could use some company sometimes.”

Jasper decided to stay a while, now that the princess was approachable.

Elliot was waiting outside when Jasper opened the door to exit the Princess' chamber. “How was she? Did she ask about me? Does she remember anything yet? Oh please Jasper, tell me she is getting better.” The young man was worried about his wife, but he was driving Jasper crazy with his constant stream of questions.

“Please, Elliot, calm down. Rose is still not feeling well and she still doesn't remember anything. Logan is going to find a cure, he will leave today so I am sure she will get better soon.” Elliot took a deep breath and nodded understandingly. “Of course, I am sorry Jasper. I am just too worried she will never remember me and fall in love with someone else.”

“She did ask me about one of the men who rescued her. I wasn't sure who she was talking about but it must have been you. She has fallen for you once, sir, and I am sure she will do so again. You have been lovers ever since you were 16 years old.”

Elliot smiled. “Yes, I am sure you're right. Thank you, Jasper.”
The usually well dressed Logan was still standing in front of the mirror. His armour and shirt were on a heap on the floor next to him. His hands slid down to his chest again, softly touching his bare skin. The slender fingers of his right hand ran over the soft skin of his neck and gently rubbed his shoulders. He started massaging them with firm but gentle movements and he closed his eyes. It had been months since the last time he had felt hands on his skin.
