His third and possibly fourth Pokémon
The next morning Patrick woke up very early, so early the sun was barely cresting the horizon. He went downstairs and saw a note from his parents. We went in early to plant the new crops. Be back late. Well I guess I’ll check on Tympole. He thought as he went out to the backyard and saw Tympole floating on the water sleeping. “Tympole, wake up buddy.”
His eyes flew open. “TYM!” And jumped into his arms.
“Hey buddy what are we going to do today?”
“Tympole.”
After they had breakfast he went back to his room to finish reading about Tympole since he didn’t finish the day before. He got finished reading all the info Professor Juniper had sent him, then sat outside with Tympole until it was time for lunch.
“Guess I’ll make a sandwich and go back outside.” Before he could get to the fridge though the doorbell rang. “Just a minute” he called. He opened the door and there stood Rachael, she was wearing a loose blue top that stopped at her belly button and a pair of jean shorts that were very short.
“Hi. How about you change into your swim suit, grab Tympole and come with me.”
“How about we have lunch first?”
“Way ahead of you. Go change and we can eat when we get there.” she said as she held up a picnic basket.
“So where are we going?” he asked her as they zoomed down the road on her scooter.
“Our secret place.” She answered. He was sitting behind her on the scooter again with his arms wrapped around, and he could smell her hair, it was scented of jasmine and citrus. God it was good he thought as he inhaled deeply. Thankful the low hum of the engine masked that sound from Rachael.
She pulled into the clearing and killed the engine. “We’re here!” she exclaimed. She pulled out her towel and laid it on the sand. Patrick had grabbed the picnic basket and followed her. She pulled off her top and shorts and was again wearing that sparkly bikini. It sparkled in the sun and she was radiant. She had sandwiches, fried chicken and potato salad.
“Wow, you went to a lot of trouble, but what if I wasn’t home?”
“I would have gone to your parents store and dragged you with me.” She replied smiling with glee. “Besides it was just the four of us so it’s not that much.”
“Four?”
“You, me, Tympole, Frillish.”
“Oh right the Pokémon.”
They were laying on the towel after they got finished eating watching their Pokémon play in the water. “You’re really quiet, is something wrong?” She asked.
“Well yesterday was, you know my…first”
“Oh I see, it was my first time too. Didn’t you enjoy it?”
“Yes I did, but…”
“I think I see what you’re saying, but boyfriends and girlfriends do it all the time.” She said.
“Girlfriend? When did that happen?”
“Yesterday, right before I threw you on your bed.” Again that captivating smile was spreading across her beautiful lips. “I’ll be right back” she said as she got up. He laid back and closed his eyes. Moments later a towel fell across his face and before he could pull it off his swim trunks were yanked down and he was engulfed.
“Ooh God!” he cried out. While she sucked just the head she worked her hand up and down his shaft nice and slow. “Aaaahhh, you better stop or I’m gonna blow!” he gasped. One last lick and she stopped.
“Not yet.” She stood up and pulled the towel off his face. He raised his head to look at her and saw she had her back to him, as she slowly started to push her shiny thong bikini down her legs. Bending at the waist to fully remove them she gave him another great view of her ass. She slowly walked back over to him swaying her hips; she sat right on his stomach wedging his dick between her ass cheeks. Then slowly she raised herself up and dropped fully onto him. “Oh yeah!” She cried rocking her hips. He reached up and pushed her bikini top up to reveal her beautiful globes. He pulled her down and started to suck on her left one flicking the nipple with his tongue sending waves of pleasure through Rachael’s body. She stopped rocking and started pounding up and down.
“I’m gonna cum again.” he managed to say in his pleasure.
“DO IT!” She cried out. “AAAAAHHHHH!” As he shot into her she had a massive orgasm, then collapsed on his chest and laid there trapping him in her.
She finally rolled off of him and adjusted her bikini top and retrieved her bottoms as he pulled up his swim trunks. She laid down next to him on her side and draped her arm over him so her breasts were pressed against him.
“Why does everything with you seem right?”
“You really need to ask?” she asked quite amused.
“No I mean before we even did this the first time, when I’m around you everything just seems right. I realized I never thanked you.”
“You don’t have to thank me I enjoyed it too.”
“No, I mean when I was in the hospital, you comforted me when you could have ignored me.”
“You were so sad and broken I couldn’t just leave you, if I did I couldn’t have lived with myself. Let’s go for a walk in the forest before it gets to dark.” She said.
“Alright” he replied getting up. “Tympole come on we’re going into the forest.” He called.
“Frillish come on.” she called to hers.
They had been walking for sometime holding hands when Rachael stopped and pulled him down.
“Shhh! You see that?” she whispered.
“What?” he whispered back.
“That Sawsbuck!” she squeaked.
“Why does he have a tree stuck in his horns?” She suppressed her laughter.
“That’s not tree, its his summer form, he changes forms as the seasons change. They can also be dangerous, so we hide here.”
“Let me catch it.”
“Are you nuts? Take a look at him what do you see?”
“A Sawsbuck with a tree in his horns, looks ridiculous. I can beat him.”
“No you can’t. Grass type to your water. Pokémon 101 grass beats water. Now lucky for you I’m here, two against one I think we might have a shot. You stay here I will sneak around behind it” she said. “As soon as you attack it I will too.” she instructed. Patrick waited several minutes till he figured she was in place.
“Tympole, mud shot, aim for his eyes!” He shouted so that Rachael heard him. Tympole flung a ball of mud at Sawsbuck but it jerked its head at the new sound and it caught him in the nose and not the eye, needless to say that pissed him off. He saw his aggressor, pawed the ground and snorted like a bull and charged. He was too fast for Patrick to dodge but somehow he missed and rammed a tree. “Bubblebeam!” he cried. He saw a bubblebeam coming from Rachael’s position too. Sawsbuck started swinging his antlers to drive back to evil bubbles to no avail. He regained his composure as the bubbles thinned. He charged again at Tympole this time not missing and rapidly cutting him with his front hooves.
“Frillish Night Shade!” Distracting Sawsbuck.
“Tympole quick aqua ring!”
“Tymmm.” it replied weakly. Tympole rebounded slightly with aqua ring.
“Mud shot repeatedly.” With unyielding blows falling on it Sawsbuck finally buckled and collapsed. “Poké ball!” it pegged Sawsbuck in the back of the head he changed red and retreated into the poké ball. The light didn’t stay red long nor did it shake at all. “I got it” he cried. Pulling Rachael into a hug and dancing around as she came into view from the trees.
“I know I saw, great job!” she congratulated when he finally stopped.
“I swore he had us with that first charge, lucky he hit that tree.”
“Lucky my foot” Rachael said. “That was Confuse Ray. It’s one of Frillish’s moves.”
“Oh great job, I figured I hadn’t waited long enough and you weren’t in position.” he said.
“I was but…that’s one odd Sawsbuck” she mussed.
“What do you mean?”
“I swear that was Fury Swipes it used on Tympole and Sawsbuck doesn’t know that move.”
“Let’s find out, Sawsbuck go.” He tossed the poké ball, Frillish popped out.
“A Frillish?!” she cried out in shock and surprised. Frillish face to face with Frillish. “Recall your Tympole” she said as she recalled her Frillish. The fake Frillish looked around and saw no other Pokémon and started to shimmer. It fell to the ground and took the form of a fox, a black fox with red hair. “I don’t know.”
“We need to go, it’ll be getting dark soon.” He said looking at his watch. “We can figure this out tomorrow, are you off?”
“I have a night shift tomorrow so I can come over in the morning.”
“Meet me at the coffee shop in town I know where to get answers.” He said and understanding dawned on her face.
“Ok tomorrow at…”
“Nine” he finished.
“Ok I’ll take you home, let’s get back to my scooter.”
He was walking to the coffee shop the next morning and didn’t even have to get to the door when Rachael came out and handed him one. “Oh thanks, let’s go see if Professor Juniper is busy.”
Knock, knock, knock. The door opened.
“Oh hello kids, what do you need?”
“Hello Professor, I have a question for you.”
“Well come in, come in, sit down and lets hear it.” He replayed the story up until the part that he called the Pokémon back out.
“Well that is odd. But some Pokémon can learn certain moves usually unlearnable to them with selective breeding.”
“Oh that’s how my Frillish knows Confuse Ray. The Professor that we got her from had been researching selective breeding, he was finishing up his research so he gave me Frillish, it was just hatched the day before.”
“Lucky you got a young one, I hear Frillish can sometimes be difficult. But back to your story, its probably selective breeding or more in the case of lucky breeding, Pokémon aren’t picky.” he added with a chuckle.
“Remember I said I caught a Sawsbuck.” Patrick said. Prof. Juniper nodded. “Then what is this? Poké ball go.” The black fox with red hair popped out.
“My word boy that’s a Zorua! How on earth did you get…oh that’s right. This clears up everything, Fury Swipes is one of Zorua’s moves, and before you ask he has the ability to take the form of other Pokémon to frighten others away. There was probably a Sawsbuck in the area it saw, and it ran off when you attacked Zorua here. They are a hard one to get, mainly because of its illusion ability, but it seems to have worked against it in this case.”
“Wow I wasn’t even going for rare Pokémon.”
“Excuse me for a minute.” Prof. Juniper said as he headed to the back room. He came back in a few minutes later carrying a camera and a CD. “Kneel down next to Zorua and smile”. CLICK. “Nice. I’ll send you both a copy when I get it developed. Now here is some information on Zorua.” He said handing him the CD. “I also put a link to my Pokémon website on there so next time you get one you can go there without coming all the way into town. If you get anymore feel free to bring them by, rare or not I love all Pokémon.” He added with a smile.
“Maybe I should be a rare Pokémon Hunter.” He stopped when he saw Prof Juniper shaking his head.
“No son you don’t want to do that. Something like that can consume your life, you lose focus of everything else except the next catch and that’s when the Pokémon suffer.”
“How Prof?”
“Neglect that’s how. A man with many rare Pokémon is sadder than a man with fewer common ones. Just be happy when you come across one, but don’t go looking only for them. So are you on your way to being a trainer?”
“No Prof. it’s not something that interest me that much, I just want some friends.”
“HAHAHA well said! Pokémon do make that, great friends, best you could have.”
“Not exactly Prof.” Rachael input leaning on Patrick’s shoulder.
“Ah yes the girlfriend. I guess that would be better.” Prof Juniper put in with a knowing smile.
“Well look at the time it’s about lunch.” Prof Juniper informed them.
“It is? Wow where did the time go?” Patrick asked in a shocked voice. “We’re going to get going Prof, if I come across any Pokémon I’ll bring them by so you can see them.”
“I would enjoy that thank you.” Patrick and Rachael got up to leave. “I’ll see you kids later.” Prof Juniper added as they walked out the door.
After a quick lunch at the deli Rachael said “I have to get ready for work, I’ll see you tomorrow” as she planted a long kiss on his lips, and pulling him into a hug. God her lips are soft! Patrick thought. “Bye” she added after she broke the kiss.
“Bye Rachael.”
He was walking down the road to his house. He had been walking for sometime when he noticed it was deserted, it usually was but something was different, it was eerily calm, no noise. He glanced up at the sky and saw dark ominous clouds rolling in combining with the one already there. I’d better hurry he thought. The rolling thunder started shortly after that and the lightning was continuous. It was dark and he was running as fast as he could to get home when the powerful winds blew down a tree right in his path. He dodged it by inches but fell in the process. “Damn my leg.” He said. He stood up and to his relief it wasn’t broke. He heard something other than the wind and thunder. He was looking all around, the wind was distorting the other sound and it was so low he couldn’t tell where it was coming from.
“DUR!!!” He heard quite close to him, he turned and quickly a flying Pokémon that looked like a man riding a cloud zoomed by, a bright flash of lightning and he was gone. What he saw he would never forget. I have to catch that Pokémon was all he could think all the way home.
Rachael came by the next day. “Hey, I just wanted to see if you where ok. I saw the storm coming in after you left and know you had a long walk.”
“You will never guess what I saw yesterday!”
“What?” she asked very curious as to what it was.
“I was looking for it on Prof Juniper website but I can’t seem to find it on there. It must be rare!”
“What?” she asked again.
“Oh” he said realizing he was getting ahead of himself. “It was a Pokémon obviously; it looked like a man riding a cloud. He was moving quick but I got a good look at him as he flew by. He had a tail that shot out a bolt of lightning and then he disappeared.” She looked at him with a worried look on her beautiful face.
“Remember what the professor said Patrick? Don’t get caught up on rare Pokémon, it can ruin your relationship with your other Pokémon.”
“I wonder if he causes all storms or just certain ones?” he said not really listening to her.
“Work was boring last night, but I guess that’s good, it means no sick Pokémon.” She said in hopes of changing the subject.
“I wonder if he will still be in the area for awhile?” he continued oblivious to her words.
“Do you want to go to our special spot and spend the day?”
“I have got to catch him, he’s so powerful.”
“Powerful? What do you care about power? You don’t fight your Pokémon.” She demanded. He didn’t answer. “Fine, if all you’re going to care about is catching this powerful Pokémon I’m leaving!” she shouted as she stormed out. She was down the stairs and at the front door when he realized what she had said.
“Wait” he said not loud enough for her to hear. “Rachael wait!” He called out as he heard the front door close. He flew down the stairs but by the time he got to the door she was gone, all he saw was a retreating trail of dust.
“Stupid, stupid, stupid” were his thoughts the rest of the day. How could I get caught up in something like that? He thought. I’ve got to call her he thought as he rummaged through his drawers looking for her number. After finding it he glanced at the clock, “huh 10 p.m. I don’t even know if she’s working or not. Damn!” He cried, tears fell from his face till sleep over took him.
He woke up the next day quite early. He had a restless night, the way he ignored Rachael and got caught up with the idea of catching that Pokémon had been running through his mind all night. Why did he act that way? She was right he didn’t care about power. He glanced at his clock 6:45 a.m. “I wonder if Rachael is up yet?” He wondered aloud. He grabbed his Xtransceiver and called her’s. It went to voice mail. “Rachael please call me I’m sorry, please call.” He hung up. “She’s probably ignoring me, I’m so stupid.” He said. He was staring at the wall for sometime before he remembered something. “Tympole oh shit!” He had put him in his pond yesterday morning right when he got up and the light rain stopped. He was so caught up with finding out about that Pokémon he had forgotten about him. As he walked to the pond he heard Tympole splashing around. “Hey Tympole!” he called. SMACK! A mud shot to the face that planted his ass on the ground.
“TYM!” Tympole shouted angrily.
He called out Zorua. At least he wasn’t mad at me he thought. He went inside to get some food for all of them. He looked around. “Where the hell are mom and dad?” he asked. No note anywhere in sight. If they where at the farm they left way earlier than usual. They had never done that before and they always left a note too. Maybe they were in too big of a hurry. He thought. He got the food and went back outside to feed the Pokémon. After the breakfast Tympole seemed to forgive him for his neglect. Zorua hadn’t experienced that so he was indifferent to him. Being a new Pokémon he didn’t know him as a trainer yet. He spent the entire day playing with his Pokémon. They had stopped for lunch and now he was playing fetch with Zorua when his Xtransceiver rang. “Hello, Rachael?”
“No honey its me.” his mom answered. “We should be home tonight don’t worry.”
“What are you talking about? You were here last night.”
“No, honey we weren’t. The car broke down and he had to spend the night at the farm. You didn’t realize we weren’t there?”
“I was preoccupied when I got home, I guess it didn’t dawn on me you weren’t here.”
“We tried calling last night, you didn’t answer.”
“I didn’t hear it ring, I was probably out with Tympole.” He lied.
“That was probably it.” She answered. “Well I need to go, lots of work to do. Bye honey.”
“Bye.” He replied.
“Zorua.” The Pokémon sounded off.
“Oh yeah.” He said picking up the ball and throwing it again. The sky darkened gradually. “Well its time to go in. Tympole you want to stay out here?”
“Tympole” it said making laps in the pond.
“Ok, Zorua lets go inside, I’ll bring you some dinner Tympole.” He called over his shoulder.
“Tym, Tym, Tym.” it chanted in reply.
“Zorua head up to my room, I’ll make you a bed tonight.”
“Zorua.” It replied. He took food out to Tympole and then when back in and up to his room to settle Zorua down. He got out a few extra blankets and created a bed at the head of his bed. So he would be close and didn’t feel neglected.
“This is your bed Zorua, you can sleep here every night.”
“Zorua.”
He was getting out of the shower to the sound of his Xtransceiver ringing. “Hello?”
“Coffee shop tomorrow morning eight a.m. don’t be late.” Then hung up. That sounded like Rachael and she was angry. He set his alarm for six so he wasn’t late.
Patrick got up before the alarm had a chance to go off. He looked down expecting to see Zorua on the floor, he wasn’t there. “What the…” He stopped short seeing Zorua had pulled one of the blankets across the room and was in the opposite corner of room. At this point from all the noise staring at him. Those eyes, that’s kind of creepy. He thought. He quickly got dressed and sat at his computer to look up Zorua, he hadn’t done that in detail yet. He read about personality and nature, but didn’t quite understand it. He glanced to the clock and decided to go or he would be late. “Zorua, return.” Red beam of light and into the poké ball. As he got to the bottom of the stairs he heard noise coming from the kitchen.
He walked in, “Good morning.”
“Good morning honey. You’re up early. Are going to come with us to the farm?”
“No I’m meeting Rachael in town I need to go or I’ll be late.” He grabbed some pokéfood and went outside “Tympole we got to go.” Tympole came hopping out of the pond. “Return.” Red beam of light and in the poké ball.
Seven fifty-five he was cutting it close. With a glance at the Coffee shop he saw Rachael’s scooter parked right outside and her inside sitting at a table. Ok time to make things right. He thought. He walked inside and sat down across from her. “So what did you want to talk about?” she asked. He could feel the formality of the words, no hey how you doing. Just what do you want?
“I need to apologize for what happened.”
“You mean you acting like an idiot? Yeah you do.”
“Professor Juniper had told me all that stuff earlier and I…”
“Decided to act that way even though he told you it was crazy?” she interrupted to finish his sentence.
“I’m sorry, I was caught up in his power to control the weather.”
“You were stupid and insensitive, I should smack you, or walk out right now and never talk to you again.” She contemplated.
“If you want me to go then I’ll go, I’m sorry.” He said with tears in his eyes as he got up and walked out. As soon as he was outside he was running down the street. Rachael was in shock, she hadn’t expect that reaction. Then she shook her head, what was she thinking, of course he would act that way. He’s had so little happiness since his loss of Mienfoo and then she lays this on him.
“I was too hard on him. I’ve got to go talk to him.” she got up and hopped on her scooter and headed off towards his house. Little did she know he didn’t go home. He ended up in the park, surrounded by huge trees and a little pond. He let out Zorua and Tympole.
“Since I didn’t feed you before we left I brought some with me.” he passed them both a bowl of food. He spent a long time sitting in the park very depressed from the unexpected outcome with Rachael.
Rachael was almost halfway to his house and was annoyed. She would have caught up to him by now and hadn’t which means he never left the city. There were dozens of places in the city to hide, of course he wasn’t actually hiding but it was like he was, he wasn’t waving a neon sign saying “here I am”. She glanced down at her watch. She had to go home it was almost time for work and she didn’t want to be late for that.
It was well passed lunch when he came back around to reality. Glancing at his watch he saw it was 1 p.m. He needed something to eat he didn’t have any breakfast, he had brought food for the Pokémon but not for himself, he thought things would go better with Rachael and then they would go get something to eat to talk about it.
He was lost to be honest, he had never been to the park before, he saw a few people, some were training Pokémon some were just feeding the Pidoves. He had recalled Tympole because of his water nature but Zorua was following behind him. He saw on man training a Sawk and stopped to watch for a second, the trainer was a big body builder with a tank top and sweat pants. He was going through a one, two, three, four combo with Sawk. The man saw Patrick and called out to him.
“Hey kid, you want a Pokémon fight?”
“Who me? No, mine don’t fight.” He said shaking his head.
“Ha just as well you’d lose. No one can beat Sawk here.”
“ZORUA!”
“Well you may not want to fight but it looks like your Pokémon does. Sawk Brick Break this pest!”
“SAWK!” it came flying at Zorua with astonishing speed, and struck him before it could move.
“Zorua, Fury Swipes!”
“Close Combat Sawk” Before Zorua could even start Sawk was in its face throwing punches. Zorua fell back after the final punch. Just then a Throh landed in front of Sawk facing the same way, it reached back grabbed Sawk’s head and threw it over its head. “Hey what the hell?” the Trainer shouted.
“This fight is over.”
“Who says?”
“Last time I checked trainers had to agree to fight, not Pokémon, so I say.” The stranger was just standing there in a black trench coat and a cowboy hat.
“Why you.” the trainer lunged at him. He just stepped aside and the Sawk trainer was now face to face with a Bisharp.
“BisHARP!” it shouted raising its blades.
“When your Pokémon lose you go melee? Pathetic. Go away before Bisharp has to get disrespectful. Not that you deserve any respect.” He turned and ran off recalling his Sawk on the way. “You should get to the Pokémon Center.” The stranger said in his flat tone. I can’t go there Patrick thought Rachael’s probably there. “You do know where it is don’t you?” the stranger asked when he didn’t respond to him. “I’ll show you.” he said with a sigh. Time to play tour guide the stranger thought. “Throh, Blades, lets go.” The stranger started walking towards the park exit then realized Patrick wasn’t following, “hey kid, come on, your Pokémon doesn’t look to be in good shape. After a serious beating you should go to a Pokémon Center immediately or give it a potion to prevent lasting injuries.” At this Patrick came around, if it was between Zorua being hurt or seeing Rachael Zorua won, no matter how much she hated him now he couldn’t let that stop him from getting Zorua help. He picked up Zorua and followed the stranger to the Pokémon Center.
They were to the Pokémon Center in a matter of minutes. “There’s the nurse. Go!” The stranger said as he pointed to the counter. Luckily it wasn’t Rachael, was all Patrick could think at that point.
“Thanks, what’s your name?” Patrick asked as he turned to the stranger. He was gone; Patrick could see him strolling down the sidewalk, side by side with Bisharp.
“Hi, I’m Lisa how may I help you?” The nurse on call asked.
“My Zorua was attacked in the park, he’s hurt pretty bad.” The nurse pressed a button and another nurse with green hair, also not Rachael, brought out a stretcher. Lisa took Zorua, placed him on it and the green haired nurse rolled him to the back.
“Have a seat we will take care of him.” she gave him a smile and followed the stretcher.
Rachael heard the buzz of the call and was curious as to the need so she looked out from one of the side doors and saw Patrick sit down on the sofa in the waiting room. She was about to run out there when.
“Rachael!” It was Dr. Wong. “I need you to take the weekly status of the Pokémon in the recovery ward.” It was a daily assessment that rotated to a different nurse each week.
“I thought Mary was covering that this week?” she inquired.
“She called in sick and sounded bad, if she hadn’t I’d wait, but I think she will be out awhile.” The doctor explained.
“Yes doctor, right away.” He handed her the clipboard and walked off. Well damn she thought. She turned away from the door and headed to the recovery ward.
It was early evening when they finished treating Zorua. Lisa came out with Zorua on a cart. “Sir?” she said gently shaking him awake.
“Yes?”
“We are done with your Pokémon, he is all better. Go easy on the fighting for a day or so, he was fairly bad off. You said you were attacked?”
“Yes we were in the park, lost in the park really, and I stopped to watch a guy train his Pokémon, he saw me and asked for a fight. I said no but I guess Zorua didn’t like his tone or comment and he saw Zorua and thought the fight was on. The only reason he’s not dead is because someone intervened.” Patrick finished.
“Ah.” A knowing look passed her face. “Black coat and a cowboy hat?” she asked.
“Yeah, how’d you know?”
“I thought I saw him come in with you.”
“You know him?”
“We all know him. He’s a regular here.”
“His Pokémon get hurt a lot?”
“Oh no, he brings in people who are victims of Pokémon assaults.”
“Can you tell me who he is so I can thank him?”
“Trust me he doesn’t want thanks but I will pass on the message next time I see him.”
“Thank you!” He said and left.
Hours later after she had finished the Recovery Ward weekly status report, Rachael looked out in the waiting room and didn’t see Patrick so she walked up to the desk.
“Hey Lisa where’s the kid with the Zorua?”
“He left about an hour ago.”
“Oh damn”
“Do you know him?”
“Yeah, that’s Patrick the one I told you about.”
“Oh that was him? He’s such a sweetie.”
“I know, I got mad at him earlier and he took my comment entirely the wrong way and I haven’t had a chance to explain.”
“He’s probably on his way home you can catch him, I’ll cover for you.”
“No thanks Lisa I’ll just get him tomorrow.” Some people came in the door and their conversation ended.
“Well back to work it looks like.” Rachael said and headed to the back.
He got home and went straight to his room. It was a mess so he started to straighten things up. He opened his desk drawer to put away the papers on it and saw Rachael’s pink panties, the ones she left after their first time together. He picked them up and sat on his bed crying softly. He missed her, he loved her laugh and light personality. Zorua being a dark Pokémon understood his pain and jumped on his bed and rubbed against him, trying its best to comfort him. Patrick petted Zorua on his head. He got up a put the panties back in the drawer. When his parents got home they had dinner, a little small talk and then he went to bed.
He woke up early the next day and decided to go with his parents to the farm. They were glad, with Tympole watering the greenhouses their work load was cut down significantly. Rachael had woke up early as well but the ride to his house was fairly long, he was gone by the time she got there. “Damn, where is he?” she wondered looking around. “Maybe he’s at the lake.” She jumped on her moped and sped off. She arrived at the lake and there was no sign of him there either. “Damn.” She said again.
This continued for about two weeks. When she was off or working nights, which was rare, she would swing by his house, but he was never there. His parents know something was wrong, his mood was gloomy and he hadn’t spent any time with Rachael, in fact they hadn’t seen her for a long time. His parents were talking after he went to his room and decided that he didn’t need to go with them the next day. When he woke up he headed downstairs and had breakfast.
After he finished he said “I’m ready to go.”
“You stay home today son.” His dad replied.
“Why?” they heard the confusion in the question.
“Well if you keep Tympole doing our job we will get use to it and then if you stop we will be hard pressed to start doing it again.” His dad knew this was a flimsy excuse but went with it anyway. He also saw the look of yeah right on Patrick’s face.
“Whatever” he said kicking off his shoes.
“Just stay here and have fun with Tympole and Zorua, maybe catch another one, yeah that’s it I want you to have a new Pokémon when I come home.”
“I don’t need anymore, I got enough!” He shouted and ran off leaving his dad with a shocked look on his face.
“Well I didn’t expect that reaction.” His dad said as he left. Patrick sat in his room trying to calm down, he knew he shouldn’t have blown up like that but keeping it bottled up it was bound to bust. At his dad none the less.
“I’ll have to apologize later, I heard them leave.” he said to the room. His parents just hoped that Rachael would come by and talk to him; they had no way to contract her.
This is the last time Rachael thought as she sped towards his house. If he doesn’t want to try and fix things and just run from the problem, I’ll let him. She continued on that thought pattern. And to annoy her even more she could see dark clouds building on the horizon. She’d be driving in the rain if he wasn’t there or didn’t want to talk.
He went outside for awhile to let Zorua run a little and play with Tympole, but they didn’t really play, Zorua was a bit of a loner. It would curl up at Patrick’s feet and sleep; it liked Patrick but not other Pokémon, not even his. Patrick could see the clouds building and decided as they rolled closer it was time to go in; he called Tympole and Zorua to follow him. He went back to his room and finish cleaning it, it didn’t take long. Then headed down to get some snacks for him and food for the Pokémon. He returned to his room to watch a DVD. It had just started when he heard the doorbell. He got up and headed to the door and opened it.
“Where have you been?” She almost shouted. He was shocked; Rachael was standing there staring at him waiting for an answer. “Well?” she continued in a slightly lighter tone when he didn’t answer.
“What are you doing here?” he asked. She could tell by his tone he was sad, and depressed.
“I want to talk to you.”
“Why, you said enough last time.”
“I’m sorry about that I was mad at you. You know couples fight sometimes, that doesn’t mean it’s over. You don’t want it to be over do you? Can I come in, it looks like could open up any minute.” She glanced at the sky then her watch, which read about nine-thirty.
“Come on in, I was going to watch a movie.” They went up to his room he clicked off the DVD player and sat at his desk. He motioned for her to sit on his bed. “Ok talk.”
“I’ll start again with I’m sorry, the way you were acting made me mad and I didn’t want to be one of the things that took a back seat to your rare Pokémon hunt. So I left. I realize that was wrong, I should have slapped some sense into you right then.” She said with a little smile. He didn’t, Ok he’s not in the mood for jokes. She thought. “I didn’t think you understood my comment at the coffee shop, I said I should leave, not you.”
“What’s the difference which one of us left it was over anyway.”
“No it wasn’t, but I see now that is how you would see it. You don’t have a lot of experience in this subject, I don’t either, you’re my first boyfriend but it wasn’t over, at least I didn’t want it to be.” She told him.
“You hurt me.” Was all he could say now.
“I’m sorry sweetie. I didn’t mean to hurt you; my intention was to bring you back to reality. You start rare Pokémon hunting and you lose everything.”
“You know my friend Lisa at the center told me you where there. What was the problem?” She had to get him talking, so even though she knew she asked anyway. He relayed the story from the point he ran from the coffee shop.
“Wow I feel responsible. I made you run, I was the cause, I’m sorry.” She got up and put her arms around him, he was still sitting at his desk, so her hands were around his neck. She had them crossed over his chest, he reached up and grabbed them and held them there and put his head against her arm. She could sense he had accepted her back, and she smiled.
“I still love you.” she said to him giving him a kiss on the top of the head.
“I love you too.” he said, silent tears of joy rolled down his face. Lightning flashed and the power went out, Seconds later rain poured. There was a little light coming in from the window, he made his way over to it, and looked out. He couldn’t see anything it was coming down so hard. He sat back down at his desk.
“I have to call work, I don’t think I can make it if it continues to rain like this. I left my Xtransceiver downstairs in my bag, I’ll be right back.” She came back after calling and laid down on his bed.
“Why don’t you join me?” she asked. He glanced over at her. She was wearing a loose fitting t-shirt and a pair of jean shorts that just barely covered her ass. He got up and laid down in front of her she draped her arm over him and pulled him back to her.
They had been laying there for sometime slightly dozing when Patrick heard “Zor.” he opened his eyes and looked to the corner where Zorua was laying. He couldn’t see anything it had gotten darker as the storm fully moved in. Lightning flashed again and he could see Zorua staring at him. He glanced at Rachael’s watch, her arm was over him so it was easy to reach, it was a little after twelve, a little past lunch.
“You want a pizza?”
“I don’t think they deliver in this weather.” She replied giggling at his question.
“Neither rain or shine nor something or other. But rains in it” he said.
“That’s the mail dummy.”
“It is? And here I thought it was the pizza place.” He replied. She now could hear the sarcasm in his voice realizing he was joking; she grabbed the pillow and hit him with it.
“Dummy.” she repeated laughing.
“I can fix one for us if you want one.”
“The powers out, you got a fire Pokémon I don’t know about?”
“Sort of” at this comment a look of surprise passed over her face. “It’s called gas oven, he knows ember.”
“Oh ok, sure I guess so.”
“Alright I’ll be right back.” He headed downstairs. She got up and moved over to the window. It was still coming down in sheets. The way the sound was it sounded as if the rain was coming right at the house, hitting the window at intervals.
“DUR!” she heard shouted from right outside. Then something, slammed into the side of the house.
“AHHHH” she screamed as she dropped to the floor. Patrick was halfway up the stairs when he heard her scream.
He bolted the rest of the way up the stairs and in the room. “Are you alright?” he saw Zorua in front of her in a protective fashion growling at the wall. He crouched down beside her a patted her on the shoulder “its nothing don’t worry.” He told her in a soft voice. Quick as a flash she threw her arms around his neck and hugged him tight. He led her back over to the bed and sat her down on the cushion that was on the soft carpet floor. “It’s alright.” he said in a soft voice again.
“I heard something outside.” She said softly.
“It was probably nothing.” He knew what she heard, he heard it too but didn’t tell her. “Calm down you’ll be fine.” He said stroking her long red hair. Lightning and thunder continued to flash and shake the house but nothing else slammed into it, nor did they hear the disembodied voice shout again. He felt her relax after a while and laid her down. “That must have really scared her, she’s out cold.” He told Zorua.
The timer he had brought with him went off and he left to retrieve the pizza. He brought it back up with plates and a bottle of soda. The delicious smell of the pizza woke her up.
“That smells good.” She said. They ate in silence listening to the rain lash at the house.
When they finished he asked her “Can you tell me what you heard?”
“Not really, it was combined with the thunder, but it sounded like it said thunder.”
“I heard it too, and several weeks ago also.”
“Is it that same Pokémon you were all crazy about?” She asked.
He nodded his head “probably.”
“Wow if he caused this he is powerful, but that’s not an opening for you to go looking for him though” she added quickly.
“Didn’t even cross my mind.” It had but he didn’t want to make her mad again or this relationship really would end.
“I’m cold” she said as she snuggled up to him and he pulled the comforter off the bed and around them.
“The heater isn’t gas and the temperature has dropped a lot, I looked at it when I went down to get the pizza.” He felt eyes on him and glanced over to where Zorua’s bed was. He was laying there staring at them. Eerie, he thought as he turned back. She brought her lips up to his, he leaned in. Her lips were soft and sweet and trembling she must still be cold, scared or both. The kiss broke and she put her head on his shoulder. “You feel better now?” he asked in a soft voice without moving his head. No answer. “Rach?” he questioned. He lifted his head a fraction and saw her eyes were closed. I must really be engaging. He thought.
“Zor” broke through his dreams. His head was resting against the side of the mattress. He was still sitting on the floor with Rachael covered in the comforter. He looked around, his eyes scanned the room seeing nothing. Then they darted back to the corner where Zorua was laying on his bed in, his black eyes staring at him. That Pokémon is really freaking me out he thought. The rain had let up but was still coming down at a steady pace. “What time is it?” he glanced at the alarm clock on the table next to his bed it was blank. “Huh, power must still be out.” He could see Rachael’s watch, he reached down and pulled her arm up to his face. seven p.m. Wow that was some nap. “Power napping, my super power.” he said to no one in particular. He felt her arm twitch and looked down at her face her eyes staring at him a slight smile on her lips.
“What am I your marionette?” She asked.
“It looks like it” he said swinging her arm this way and that. She tightened the muscles and the arm immediately stiffened right into the side of his face.
“OW!” he said grabbing his face.
“Oh” she said immediately up and reaching for him “I’m sorry I didn’t mean to hit you.”
“I’m fine but that hurt. When did you learn double slap?” he replied. She laughed. It was like the fight had never happened. They were just looking at each other, then Patrick had this strange feeling, he looked down and there was Zorua right at his feet staring at him. The expressionless face of a Pokémon. “Yes?” Patrick questioned the Pokémon.
“Zor.”
“No you don’t need to go out now?”
“Zor.” It replied still staring.
“But it’s raining.” Does it ever blink? he thought. “Fine.” He relented. Zorua lead him down the stairs and to the door. Patrick decided to let out Tympole too; he was a water Pokémon and would enjoy it.
He returned to his room with Zorua, Tympole wanted to stay outside longer. Rachael was now sitting at his desk looking at a book. “What are you looking at, my diary?” he asked with a grin.
“YOU have a diary, let me find it!” she said miming going through his desk, when she actually pulled open the top drawer. She glanced in a saw her pink panties “I thought you didn’t care?” she said pulling them out and swinging them on her finger.
“It was all I had left of you.”
“Don’t start that, it wasn’t all my fault.” she said.
“I know, let’s not get into that again please.”
“At least you’re learning, I’ll train you yet.” she sneered.
After an hour more of sitting Rachael looked at her watch, it was close to nine. “I’ve got to run,” she said getting up, “Since I couldn’t go in today I got an early double shift; I’m covering for one of the other girls she’s got something. But the day after that I’m off, so I can come over and we can spend the whole day together. I know you’ll love that.” she said leaning in and planting her sexy lips right on his. “Bye” she said and was out the door.
She came by early on her day off so early in fact Patrick’s parents hadn’t even left yet. She had expected this so she dressed properly no short shorts and small top, she had on blue jean shorts that went to her knees and a t-shirt, it wasn’t tight but it was none too loose either. “Hello, is Patrick up yet?” she asked when Patrick’s dad answered the door.
“I think I heard him moving around.” Patrick’s dad told her. Patrick had heard her knock and was gathering his things. He reached the bottom of the stairs.
When he got to the door Rachael said “Bye I’ll see you tomorrow.” Patrick turned to say good bye to his parents too and Rachael said “No the good bye was for you. Your parents said they need your help at the farm today.”
“It’s true, all those plants to water.” his dad barely finished before he nearly fell over laughing. Rachael joined too.
“It was him” she said pointing at his dad “he said it would be funny!”
“It wasn’t.” Patrick replied.
“Oh it was, it was!” Both Rachael and his dad said.
“You two have fun we can manage without you.” His dad said after he finished laughing.
“Bye” he said and was out the door.
“Where are we going today?”
“Pokehunting.”
“What?” He asked in shock.
“Well not hunting in the usual sense, we are going to catch some more. You know where you caught Zorua? That’s where we are going.”
“Ok sounds good.”
They got to the entrance to the forest and got off her scooter. “You know I need to ask you something, you know when we caught Zorua?”
“Yeah?”
“Well isn’t that wrong how we did it?”
“What do you mean?” she questioned.
“Well we double teamed him, isn’t it supposed to be one on one.”
“Remember we thought he was Sawsbuck.”
“Oh right.” He replied.
They walked in silence for a while each one with a Pokémon out, the best way to catch them, not to make any noise. Then a sound came from the small clearing ahead of them. They stopped and listened.
“Audin, audin” came from the Pokémon skipping through the forest.
“Hu!” Rachael gasped “an Audino” she whispered. I want it!”
“Then it’s yours.” Patrick said and rushed forward “Zorua, Fury Swipes.”
“ZOR!” He dived into combat slamming into Audino and tearing at her.
“Blood thirsty little guy ain’t he?” Rachael said watching the carnage. “Try not to kill it” Rachael said.
“Zorua relent.” Patrick commanded. It did so.
“Audino has a limited attack range so it should be easy pickings.” she informed Patrick. Audino lunged at Zorua it fist drawn back and glowing green, it struck Zorua before it could dodge and he slumped to the ground. Patrick realized at once it was asleep.
“Zorua wake up!” He shouted. Audino followed up its advantage with Double-slap.
“ZORUA GET UP!” at this its eyes flew open and it bared its fangs. Before Patrick could give it a command it leapt onto Audino ripping and tearing with Fury Swipes. The Audino flung a backhanded pound attack, it knocked Zorua off its back. It got up and ran but a black streak as Zorua used pursuit and brought it down. Zorua standing next to its victory it let out a howl.
“ZZZZZZOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRRR!”
“Poké ball Rachael!” She tossed it (wiggle, wiggle, wiggle) BING! it rang out.
“I got IT!” she cried in delight. “I can’t wait to show the girls.”
“Glad you’re happy” he said.
“I love you!” She said grabbing him into a hug. They sat down in the small clearing after the fight, it had probably scared off Pokémon for miles.
“What was the deal with Zorua he went crazy. And after he won that howl, what was that?” He voiced his thought to her.
“I might have an answer. It goes back to the park.” She said.
“The park, what do you mean?” he asked.
“Well you were asked to fight in the park that day weren’t you?”
“Yeah?”
“Well you said no but Zorua jumped in to defend you and got beat. I think he was trying to make up for it to show you he was a strong Pokémon and no weakling.”
“You’re probably right, but the howl what was that?”
“There is something I heard from a group of trainers one day in the center. They said if you can find an Audino and defeat it your Pokémon will grow faster. Don’t ask me if it’s true I have no idea but it’s what I heard.”
“Minccino”
“What the hell?” Patrick said.
“It’s a Minccino, I can’t believe it, it just walked out in the open with us here talking.” she whispered. I got this one Patrick.” she continued. “Frillish go” she said, it glided forward to Minccino.
“Min?” it said coming to the realization it wasn’t alone.
“Night shade Frillish!” The Minccino covered its face as Night Shade passed over it. “Oh damn! Ghost doesn’t affect normal type.” she said as if was the most known thing there was, he didn’t know that. “Bubblebeam instead.” She cried. It struck the Minccino square in its face. It hit the ground and lay. Then it rolled over and jumped up. Energy seemed to surge through it.
“You’ve made it mad now.” Patrick said.
“Good” she replied with a tone that told him she was enjoying this a lot.
“MMMMMMMMMMMMMIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!” It cried out. Everyone and Pokémon dropped to the ground holding their hands over their ears.
“Make it stop!” Patrick cried out but he didn’t even hear his own voice. The ringing died away, the Minccino was standing there, then it jumped forward and started slapping Frillish, finishing the assault off with one big one.
“Frillish WATER PULSE!” It struck Minccino which started to sway. “It’s confused, quick Bubblebeam again!” She cried in excitement. Minccino fell back on the ground, this time Rachael took no time at all to throw a poké ball (wiggle, wiggle, wiggle) BING!
“You got another one.” Patrick cried out.
“Cool!” She cried jumping around. After she calmed down she grabbed the poké ball of Minccino. The ball opened and it jumped out. “Here you go.” she said spraying it with a bottle she had.
“What is that?”
“It’s a healing spray we use it on slightly injured Pokémon at the center, you can buy it at any Pokécenter item store near you!” She finished holding it up to her face and smiling.
“Are you finished with your commercial now?” he said sarcastically with a smile of his own.
“Oh shut up.” she replied in a kind way. “Give me your Zorua he might need it too.” she called out her Audino too and treated them all.
“If I became a Trainer would you come with me?” he asked her.
“Well…” she replied. “I would but I’d have to quit the Pokécenter.”
“You’re not going to are you?” she asked.
“Well I was thinking about it.”
“If you promise not to leave me for some other cute trainer girl I’d do it, I’d quit and come with you.”
“I promise, but I haven’t decided yet.”
They had been sitting in the clearing for hours, after two fights they figured they had done enough catching even though Patrick hadn’t actually caught one. They had lunch and just talked about her double shift at the center. He remained interested as she relayed stories.
“Minccino.” it repeated as it walked around the clearing.
“Is it talking or singing?” he asked.
“Well I think Minccino knows sing so maybe, but it’s not putting any power into it so we go to sleep.”
“MIN! MIN! MIN!” it cried out.
“What is it?” Rachael was up and running over to Minccino, Patrick right behind her. “Whatcha got Minccino?” It was holding a stone that seemed to shimmer in the evening sun, then it happened, Minccino started to glow and grow slightly. “OH MY!” Rachael said.
“CINCCINO!” It cried. It had evolved. Its appearance hadn’t changed must. It now had what looked like a white boa around its neck but the boa seemed to be growing out of its tail. Two white “tails” came out of the top of its head between its ears and crossed behind her head. They spent the next hour or so looking at Cinccino, and talking about evolution.
“It’s getting late.” Patrick realized. “We should go.”
“What’s wrong Patrick?”
“Nothing” he replied quickly.
“I know that tone, it’s your sad tone.”
“Well you got two, I didn’t get any.”
“I should have let you have the Minccino…”
“No! She’s more of your type not mine.” He said.
“What’s that mean?” she said fully aware of what he meant.
“It’s kind of a…girly Pokémon.” He finished quietly.
“Should I call her out and you can tell her that?”
“NO!”
“Remember her Hyper Voice do you?”
“IS that what that was?”
“Yes.”
“Tomorrow we will catch you one. I promise.”
It got dark fast, and they lost their way easily. “I can’t see much it’s dark.”
“Here let me get out a flashlight. She pulled out two and handed one to Patrick. They clicked them on and swung them around.
“That’s better, now we can…” he cut off.
“What?” she asked confused turning around. A Bisharp was right in front of Patrick. It said nothing just stood there.
“Zorua” he called weakly “where are you?” knowing full well Zorua didn’t stand a chance against Bisharp.
“Zorua” he heard as Bisharp shimmered and vanished.
“Oh thank god it’s just you.”
They walked down the path with Rachael in the lead with her Frillish.
“Pawn!” a group of them jumped out of the trees, and swarmed over Frillish that was leading them. Zorua burst through Patrick’s legs and morphed into Bisharp. One of the attacking Pawniard saw him and cried out “Pawn!” Zorua just flashed the blades and they all ran, except one was slower.
“Zorua Fury Swipes.” He leapt, morphed, and mauled it. “Don’t let up!” The Pawniard swung a Metal Claw at Zorua which considering the range surprisingly dodged it. While all this was going on Rachael was treating her badly wounded and cut Frillish. “Zorua relent.” He leapt back “poké ball GO!” he threw. Right before it made contact a Slash attack knocked it aside. “Dang, Zorua continue the assault.” After several more failed attempts to knock Zorua off of him Pawniard was too weak to continue the fight. Zorua realizing this jumped back and Patrick threw the poké ball again, (wiggle) BING! After several seconds of staring at the motionless ball, “I don’t believe it! I got him!” Rachael gave him a big hug and they hurried out of the woods. This time with Zorua and Cinccino in the lead.
They arrived back at Patrick’s house a little while later, still a little excited about the fast paced battles they had encountered. They sat down in the living room and relayed the story to his parents who were fascinated by it.
“Well that’s really great kids.” His dad told them.
“Well I’ve got to go, I’ll see you later.” Rachael said getting and giving Patrick a kiss but just a small one, his parents were right there after all.
The next day he was walking down the street of Mistralton City with no real destination in mind.
“Well hello my boy!” he heard the jovial voice of Cedric Juniper call out from his left.
“Hello Professor.” He called back.
“Got anything new?”
“Actually I have, Pawniard go” he said releasing him.
“Pawn pawn” he said taking a few practice swings.
“Ah a Pawniard, good Pokémon, excellent fighter, better in swarm attacks but not useless without it.” He quickly ran down the qualities of Pawniard.
“So does he pass?” Patrick asked.
“Pass?”
“The test, is he a keeper?”
“Ha, my boy I don’t ever judge a Pokémon especially another person’s, what matters is he’s what you want. My opinion should have no weight in your decision.”
“I was kidding really.” Patrick put in.
“Oh, I have to watch you. Come with me I got something you might need.” They got back to his house and Cedric led him into the living room “Let me go get it.” Patrick walked over to a tall open cabinet with many shelves, on them were pictures by the hundreds, kids with Pokémon, rare, common, uncommon every shape and size. He picked up one and was examining it because he didn’t see the Pokémon in the picture when Cedric came back in. “I see you found my wall of fame.”
“Professor is there a Pokémon in this pic?” He asked.
“Let me see. Oh yes right there in his hand.”
“It’s a mushroom.”
“It’s a Foongus, that little fella put a conference room of fifteen hundred people asleep by himself, powerful. Well here you go my boy.” He said handing him a Pokédex.
“A Pokédex?”
“I don’t need one professor, I’m not a trainer.” “Anyone how loves Pokémon needs one, trainer or not it is important and useful. Oh and here is a copy of that picture I took. One for my wall and one for you.”
“Thank you professor.”
“No problem my boy, remember if you need anything don’t hesitate to ask.”
He walked out of Cedric’s house and headed for the park. He sat down under a tree and surfed through the Pokédex index. He had dozed off when he heard the sound of fighting coming from just ahead of him. He got up to see what was going on. He saw the black trench coat guy standing between two Pokémon. One was Bisharp the other was…
”Zweilous The hostile Pokémon.” the Pokédex rang out. Zweilous was a two headed dragon looking Pokémon with small wings and no visible eyes. He was black and blue with some red on his belly he looked like a giant bruise.
“Zweilous use Dragon Pulse. Here is comes Blades…he deflected it partially, counter with Night Slash.” He was commanding both Pokémon. “Body Slam him Zweilous.” He landed flat on Bisharp. Then was thrown off. His Bisharp was powerful. “Here is comes Zweilous, Blades Guillotine.” Bisharp was fast too he was across the field in no time. He raised his blades and brought them down in a cutting motion, surprisingly he was caught on the wrist by one Zweilous’s heads. Whipped up in the air and slammed into the ground. Bisharp didn’t get up apparently Patrick had caught the end of the battle. He seemed strangely unconcerned with his Bisharp. He was watching Zweilous intently, he started to glow and float up into the air. The glowing stopped.
“Hydreigon.” It cried. Then all three heads swung in his direction. The single pair of wings had multiplied into three and he grown a third head, the middle one was crowned with purple spikes plus it now had a longer tail. The trainer followed the Pokémon’s gaze.
“It looks like we have an audience, Blades get up.” It was up in a split second. The Hydreigon started to advance “Halt.” It stopped. He seemed to never raise his voice, that was power over his Pokémon. Authority and confidence. Patrick thought. “Yeah boy what’cha need?”
“Sorry I was just watching.” The guy waved him over.
“So what’s your story kid?”
“I…don’t quite know what you mean.”
“You a starting trainer or just a kid with Pokémon?”
“I’m just a kid with a few Pokémon.”
“What’cha got?” By pure chance Patrick tossed out Pawniard first.
“Pawniard!” he cried saw Bisharp and kneeled to him.
“What the hell is he doing?” Patrick inquired.
“Pawniard are the pre-evolutionary form of Bisharp, they are subservient to him, and what else?” he tossed his others, out popped a second Pawniard this one did not bow, and his Tympole. Patrick was aware this would happen. “And that’s your Zorua.” The trainer said.
“How did you know?”
“He’s not bowing and I saw him before, remember?”
“I would like to thank you for earlier.” the man raised his hand to cut him off.
“No need, I guess you can say it’s my job.” he said flipping out his badge POKEPOLICE it read, Officer Hayes. “And I don’t have to show my badge I can just step in and stop the crime.”
“Do you have any other Pokémon that these two?”
Hayes had a strange look on his face. “You should know. Throh” he said tossing out a poké ball. “And Goliath!” A large shadow was cast over them, at nearly ten feet tall stood a Golurk. “He’s bigger than any other I’ve seen.” Hayes said, “and nothing has ever beat him, never.” Patrick saw one more ball on his belt.
“You got one more don’t you?” he said gesturing to it.
“Oh I almost forgot. He tossed it.
“Mienshao!” it popped out swinging a complicated and complex style.
“I use to have a Mienfoo. He’s gone now.”
“Yeah losing a Pokémon is hard. Best thing to do is never forget the good times. Well I got to run I can’t stand around all day talking. Later kid.” He recalled all his Pokémon except Bisharp and walked off. Patrick recalled his too and headed home.
