"Hmmm...Where should I go next? Oh, I know! Malon at the Lon Lon Ranch always acted weird around me...Maybe I can do with her what I did with Saria?" Link thought as he walked across the small wooden bridge to Hyrule Field. Excitement ran through Link as he slowly began to pick up his pace. He remembered the last time he went to the Ranch. Malon had grown into a beautiful young woman. He remembered how surprised she was to see him when he first went there to get Epona. A mischievous smile crept on Link's face. "She acted even weirder around me than Saria did! In fact...." Link began to run down to the Ranch. Night was approaching, and Link was still paranoid those damn Stalchildren would come out. Link was terrified of those things. Many times he had asked himself "What the hell are they?!" But he never got an answer. He ran down the small hill by the entrance, and jumped inside the ranch. Link was panting when he finally stepped inside. Link had grown to miss Malon for some reason. Even as a kid, Link thought her long, red hair was kind of cool. Now he realized he didn't think it was cool. He thought it was cute! The way she cared for the animals made Link feel like she was a responsible person. As Link began to walk towards the huge pen in the middle of the Ranch, Link began to hear someone singing. Link heard a coyote call to the moon. The ground grew dark.
Link smiled as Epona quietly crept up to him and let out a little snort. He took out a carrot from a nearby barrel and fed her. After that, Epona trotted off to rest for the night. Link turned back to the figure in the field. He began to walk over to her slowly. "What am I going say?" Link decided to just go with the flow. He was only a few steps away from Malon before she stopped singing and turned around. "Link!" She ran forward and gave him a big hug. Unlike with Saria, Malon was about the same size as Link, so the hug was more natural. Link began to smile and said "How are you, Malon?" She let go of him and said "I'm fine. Malon giggled and said "I know. It makes you sound gay or something." Link didn't know what "gay" meant. "What the hell does gay mean?" Link said with an eyebrow raised. He thought he heard someone call those carpenter guys that once. He didn't know what it meant, but two of them ran off crying and the other two started lisping something.
