We walked for a about five minutes in pure silence. No one said a damn thing and the atmosphere had a melancholic heaviness to it. I didn't doubt that most of them would lose hope of ever getting out of here by the next hour. We stopped as we heard a quiet rustling close by.
“Howdy. It's dangerous down here, you know,” a voice spoke, scaring the shit out of the others. I was slightly startled, but otherwise completely calm while the others all gave a collective scream of fright. I turned my gaze in the direction I'd heard the voice and spotted a strange flower with a single eye surrounded by petals. It blinked once and I was a little disappointed the yellow petals didn't act more like eyelashes, which I thought would have been amusing. “I'm Flowey, by the way. Flowey the Flower. Down here…It’s kill or be killed. The other monsters down here aren't going to give you a quick, painless death, either.”
“Holy fuck! What is that thing?!” Lisa squeaked and I face-palmed. I really wanted to strangle her.
“Did you pay no fucking attention to what he just told us? He's a fucking flower monster, a real pansy if ya ask me,” I said, earning a groan from Darren and Zack. It seemed they'd calmed down a good bit. If she and Kenmal weren't so scared, they'd probably have groaned as well. Kaori just snickered in amusement at my pun. Jackson was still trying to wrap his tiny brain around that there was a talking flower right there.
“Come on, Arian. Be a little more serious, would ya? This isn't the kind of situation to be joking around in,” Darren scolded and I rolled my eyes at him.
“Learn to just fucking live, Dadio. There's no point in cowering like a little kid when shit hits the fan,” I retorted. I returned my gaze to Flowey. “So, kill or be killed, huh? Sounds fun. I'm up for some danger.”
“You're different. Maybe you'll survive a little longer down here than all the rest, but be careful all the same,” Flowey said. “I know the way out the ruins, but you and your friends are on your own from there.”
“Y-yeah…Listen to the t-talking flower…Totally safe, r-right?” Kenmal whimpered, tightly grasping onto Darren’s arm.
“Haven't exactly got any other options, do we?” Kaori sighed, crossing her arms with a thoughtful expression.
“Let's get this show on the road, then,” I chimed, grinning. Just then, a large ball of flame engulfed Flowey and I uttered a cuss under my breath at the loss of our ticket into a new area. I glanced in the direction the fire had come from to see an anthropomorphic goat woman make her way over.
“What a terrible creature, torturing poor children, “ she spoke.
“First off, not a damn one of us is a child. Second, that weed wasn't torturing shit,” I scoffed, taking an instant disliking to her. Her expression showed she was taken aback by my bold words and was uncertain of how to react to such an aggressive way of speaking. She likely wasn't used to being spoken to in such a way.
“Oh dear…How unscrupulous,” she said finally and gave me a stern look as if she was my mother. “I have no choice now but to teach you some manners.” That wasn't good. She lifted a hand above her head and a fiery ball began to form. Just before she could release her attack, I attacked her, darting forth and tackling her. The fireball extinguished within the next second.
“Fiends don't do manners, fucknut,” I said, glowering down at her as I brought my bare foot down harshly on her stomach. I weighed very little, but I was far stronger than I appeared to be. I glanced to the others. “Let's go before I get bored.”
“You…are fucking scary,” Zack said as they all stared at me, except for Kaori who signed in relief. His comment seemed to snap them out of their shock and we all were on the move again, though soon running because the goat woman -I hadn't even allowed her the chance to introduce herself- was back on her feet and giving chase, screaming something about not leaving the ruins because it was too dangerous.

We had to scramble around while trying to keep sight of each other as to not lose anyone from the group as we evaded the balls of fire haphazardly thrown at us. She had poor aim if she was actually trying to aim at any one of us. Unfortunately for Lisa, one of the fireballs hit her dead on and she screamed. This got the others on an even greater adrenaline high of pure fear as they ran harder. I ran harder as well just to remain near Kaori, caring nothing about whether I actually lived through this. I just wasn't going to let myself die too easily and wanted to ensure Kaori lived.
We ran into a house and they stupidly went down a flight of stairs somewhere inside, but I followed because I was determined to stay near Kaori, who was following the others solely because of what I and probably psychologists call herd mentality. We had to stop because of the only way forth being a door down in the halls of the sort of basement that was shut tight. There was no knob or handle, so it seemed it was to be pushed open.
“Shit. We're gonna have to put all put all of our strength into pushing this door and hope it opens or we're really fucked,” Darren said shakily. It took half a minute to get the door open, enough time for the batshit crazy goat to catch up to us. We scrambled through quickly and by some miracle, the door shut behind us with a loud thud that hurt my ears. Vines sprouted from the ground and sealed it shut with amazing timing as the goat woman pounded on the door and shrieked. That shriek turned into sobbing on the other side. It seemed we got lucky in finding our way out of the Ruins as that flower had called the area.
“Golly, that was close!” came a voice from the ground as something popped up from the ground suddenly, speak of the devil. It was Flowey, a little burnt on some petals but otherwise alright. The vines had been his doing, I reasoned.
“Weren't you fried back there? How the hell are you here?” Jackson questioned, a bit weirded out by everything that happened so far since our tumble into the unknown.
“Jakie boy, shut the fuck up, would you?” I said snarkily.
“W-why is it so cold here? A-and how is it even sn-snowing underground?” Kenmal asked shakily, once more clinging to Darren's arm for safety.
“Here is the path leading to a town called Snowdin. The area is aptly named. As to how it's snowing in the Underground, each area is encapsulated by a type of magic with its own dangers,” Flowey explained. “Trust no one and be careful. I'll keep the door closed until Toriel gives up on coming after you. Her heart is in the right place, but like everyone else down here, her mind is fractured from being stuck here so long with little hope of ever getting to the surface.”
“Wait. You saying there's no way out of here?” Zack spoke. Flowey sighed with a sad nod. I was surprised the moron actually caught onto that. I'd have expected anyone other than him or Jackson to comment on it.
“If you do make it far enough without being killed, there is a barrier that prevents us from leaving for the Surface. If all six of you make it and can find one other human or at least a human soul, there's a small hope you can break through the barrier and free us all, including yourselves. That's if Queen Undyne doesn't kill you. Since she took rule, things have become desperate and cruel down here.”
“Damn. Well, better get going again. The sooner we get the fuck out of here, the better,” Kaori commented. Her level headedness is one reason why I'm obsessed with her. If I wasn’t sociopathic, I might even go so far as to say I love that woman.

We had been walking for a good twenty or so minutes when we came upon a bridge; it still hadn't quite sunk in for the others that Lily was now dead. I decided to just take initiative to see if the thing was stable enough to cross. Being the smallest of the group and thus the lightest in weight, it probably didn't prove if the bridge would be able to handle the others on it, but with this group, they'd see it as proof enough of it being safe if I went first. Kaori was the only one taking a good look at it's structure to determine whether it was safe to cross or not, my amazing, smart, beautiful friend. As long as she was safe and happy, I was fine with whatever her decisions were in life. I knew she'd always be my friend and that was enough for me.
The bridge had been safe enough if a little rickety, so we made it across without incident. The issue was what was on the other side of the bridge. There sitting behind a wooden stand was a fuckable -fucking, I mean, skeleton tapping his phalanges in a pattern on the table-like part of the stand in seeming boredom. I quickly got my head straight because I wasn't about to let myself do something completely stupid because of some weird ass necrophilic kink I happened to have.
He stopped rapping his fingers along the wood when he saw us and his shit eating grin widened if that was even possible for a skeleton. He seemed to sit up the slightest bit straighter.
“Heya. You guys look kinda bad, like ya ‘bout to pasta-way any second,” he chuckled in greeting. I snickered at that. It seemed someone other than myself liked puns quite a lot. Also, I couldn't help noting that his voice sounded sexy, at least to me. I really needed to get a better hold of myself before I ended up letting myself die.
“Someone's gonna if they reach a dead end,” I shot back, grinning. The skeleton chuckled in response.
“Good one. Didn't think anyone down here actually liked puns,” he mused.
“Kaori, you are never allowed to defend your crazy ass friend from being called crazy ever again as of now,” Darren deadpanned, trying to keep from losing his shit over my continuing to give no shits about dangerous situations.
“Noted and still gonna anyway because she's my best friend,” Kaori retorted. She sighed. “I think we should hurry off before we freeze to death out here.”
“If you're worried ‘bout freezing, how about a nice, spicy hotdog to warm ya up? “ the skeleton offered, his shit eating grin seeming to be a sort of taunt. There were now three hotdogs on the stand, waiting for the sucker who would be foolish enough to try taking one.
“Uhh…No thanks…Finding somewhere warmer is more important right now,” Kaori said with unease. She wasn’t stupid and neither was I.
“Yeah, so we'd better get going, like she said,” Darren added. The skeleton shrugged.
“Suit yourselves, then. Your funerals,” came his low rumbling voice. Fuck, I swear that voice was hypnotic almost. Or maybe it's just because he mentioned funerals that I'm hyped up over his voice again? If not for Kaori being right there, I'd probably have done something pretty damn stupid by now. I followed her with the others as she started walking passed the stand. Not two seconds after we'd passed by the stand did we hear a shrill yelp and the skeleton’s voice saying “One head dog coming up!”
We all looked back just in time to see the dumbest of our group get his head lopped off with a bloodstained hatchet by the skeleton. Without a moment’s hesitation, the rest of us ran for it right into the forest that bordered the pathway. I idly thought of what I might have done if not for Kaori’s presence as we ran. I'd likely have stayed behind to stare at the corpse a bit, maybe even ended up in a fight against the skeletal monster.
4
We were running for our lives from an animated skeleton. The thought was laughable in a way, something you'd expect to see in an episode of Scooby Doo. Zack had fallen behind, having tripped over a gnarled root sticking out of the ground. By the sound of his screams, the skeleton had caught up to him. All of us ran faster, as fast as we could.
For a moment, I lost myself in how good it felt to run without inhibition and by the time I slowed down, I was alone, nowhere near Kaori where I was supposed to be. I cussed profusely under my breath and swiped my hand at a tree, leaving claw-like lines along the trunk where my nails struck. I sighed and forced down my anger at not being with Kaori. It was likely everyone was on their own at this point because they all had different stamina and agility. Kaori, after myself, was the fastest. She'd most likely made it a safe distance away and was resting if that was the case, so I wasn't really worried whether she was still alive.
“Dammit all to Tartarus!” I muttered, letting out the last of my useless anger. I'd rejoin Kaori soon enough, I was sure. That's what I had my mind set on, anyhow. Since I was alone, I let my tail from under the skirt of my dress, tired of keeping it hidden for so long, and let it swish from side to side without a care. I walked along, needing the movement to keep the anger from returning for a bit. After five minutes of aimless walking, I happened upon an apparently abandoned shack in the middle of the forest and curiosity took over as I slipped inside.
5
Zack groaned as he scrambled back to his feet after a tumble over a tree root. By the time he was standing upright, everyone else was already far ahead of him and probably hadn't even noticed he'd fallen behind. As he took his first step to start running again, he felt something grip his shoulder and he froze. Slowly, shakily, he turned his head to look behind him.
“Heya, buddy. Looks like ya took a real bad fall. Heh heh heh,” the monster spoke in a taunting tone. Zack shrieked in fear and tried to scramble away from the skeleton. He didn't get far. He found himself slammed harshly against a tree and a shrill scream of pain left him. There was a deathgrip on his left shoulder keeping him from getting away now and all he could do was scream out as he was pulled back from the tree only to be thrashed upon it again. This was done over and over, and the only other sound he could hear aside from his screaming was the dark, sadistic laughter of the monster.
After what felt like hours, but was really only two minutes, the monster let go of him and he fell to the ground in a heap, weak and dizzy from the experience of the last few minutes. The right side of his face was badly cut up and blood dripped down from it and his right eye was swollen shut. His left shoulder had shallow puncture wounds from where the tips of the skeletal monster's phalanges dug into his skin with little holes in his shirtsleeve and his right shoulder felt as if it was being weighed down by lead because of how badly it hurt. As he struggled onto his elbows, something crashed down onto his back and prevented him from getting up.
“Lookin pretty tired, buddy. Why not go ahead and take your last nap,” the monster taunted. The last thing he heard before a searing pain consumed his head was the monster’s horrible, sickening laughter. He hadn't even realised before his consciousness left him for good that the cause of the pain in his head was the monster’s hatchet, the same one that was used to decapitate Jackson.
Blood oozed from the gaping wound in back his head as the skeleton removed the hatchet from the dead human’s head. He leaned down and grabbed the back of the corpse's shirt collar to drag the body back to his stand, tossing it carelessly next to Jackson's corpse. He took a moment to look at his handy work and chuckled. It had been too easy to kill those two. The others posed a bit of a challenge, which he thought of as a minor problem. At least one had a sense of humour, the odd looking one who was completely the colour of snow but for her dress. He found it strange she was wearing so little clothing compared to the others. If they'd been wearing such warm clothes, then surely it was as cold up there as it was here. He shook the thought and got to hacking up the corpses to make more of his grotesque hotdogs.

“D-Darren, do y-y-you think Arian and Kaori are safe?” Kenmal whimpered, a stutter coming from him with how frightened he was. He wondered if they would ever get out of there or if they would end up dead long before they could find some form of exit. He hoped not for the latter. He didn't want to die down here. He was scared of dying.
“Probably. Those two are the best runners. Kaori is on a track team for a reason, though I'm not sure how her friend is so fast. The important thing is we got away, and if we got away, those two definitely did,” Darren replied, wanting to comfort Kenmal. He was just as afraid as Kenmal, just more level headed about it. He thought Kenmal’s reactions to most things were cute, but he didn't like seeing him so frightened. “Let's rest here awhile and cuddle close for warmth.”
“O-okay,” Kenmal obliged, giving a small, sad smile as he sat down next to Darren up against a tree. They huddled closely to keep warm as well as for the comfort of having each other there. Soon, both drifted off to sleep, tired after running for their very lives.

As soon as I slipped inside the shack, I was met with an almost sleepy atmosphere that made me feel a little tired despite how much energy I still had left. The interior was as rundown in appearance as the outside, yet had a sort of cozy feel to it as if beckoning whoever entered to take a nap. The smell was a little musty because of a thin layer of dust, but otherwise decent to my nose.
I let the door click closed behind me and walked further in, glancing around. It was a little warm for my liking with my preference for the cold, but I decided to stay a minute regardless. I knew it was a stupid idea, but I was curious about the inviting atmosphere and why it seemed to beckon so strongly to be entered, seemed to beckon to take a nap there. It was odd and I couldn't help but follow my curiosity to see if the reason would soon be revealed to me or if I'd might as well have left from the start because of a lack of reason revealing itself. I found myself curled up in a sort of ball similar to a cat in a small corner behind an empty bookshelf, just out of view of the door, and fell asleep there.
