A FEW DAYS LATER...
Marin awoke with a start, rushed outside the house, and threw up in the bushes. Looking at the sky, she realized it wasn't even daybreak yet. She was in the Animal Village, sharing a house with her rabbit friend, but realized that she needed to wash off, so she headed for Martha's Bay. While she understood that the Zoras would harass her while she was in the water, she was confident in her ability to swim away, in fact, everyone on the island is a good swimmer. (Imagine needing some kind of item to swim) she laughed to herself.
The water was crystal clear, and she could see the bottom of the bay from the surface. She wasn't expecting to need to swim while she was away from home, so she didn't bring any swimming clothes. So she stripped off her sky blue dress, neclace, and hibiscus, and dove in headfirst. (This is just what I needed), she thought while under the waves. Little did she know, there was a set of eyes on her just out of sight. As she was swimming through the reeds along the bottom, one wrapped around her ankle and held her down, just as she was going up for air.

Link step back in shock. The island was a lie. Nothing on Koholint existed. All the animals, monsters, people (Marin...!), all a scene on the lid of the sleeper. Nothing was real, and he was part of the dream too, he has been since the shipwreak. He had to do something. If he continued his quest, everything died by his hand, on the other side, if he stayed in the dream, he would be lost at sea, and Koholint would continue to be plagued by monsters, and they would only get more aggressive from here on. He had to see Marin, that would clear his mind.
As he travelled back through the ruins, his mind was racing with the thoughts of what he had to do. He loved Marin, and she loved him in return. What would be the proper choice to do? Would she understand? Could he live with himself if he did anything? Or should he do nothing and grow old on Koholint with Marin? He quickened his pace, he needed answers, and fast. (I hope she's still in the Animal Village, otherwise this may take a while)

"You're pregnant, you know?" Marin heard a voice behind her and screamed underwater in surprise. "If you run out of air down here, you both die, you understand?" Marin turned around, it was Martha the mermaid. The raven-haired mermaid always watched for travellers in the bay, and helped them when needed. "Up for air, now." Martha helped push Marin to the surface. Marin gasped in the delicious oxygen.
"T-Tha *cough cough* Thanks..." she managed to sputter out.
"It was no problem, now, how about I give you a bit of my magic?"
"M-magic?" Marin hadn't heard of mermaid magic before.
"Indeed. You grow kelp on your upper lip. You can breathe underwater for an extended time." Martha smiled seductively at the young ginger girl. "The catch is, I get to do whatever I want to you while you are in my bay. Anything."
Marin's somewhat oxygen deprived brain heard the words, but didn't comprehend the words. "Sounds good..."
(Really, she said yes?! Okay...) "Very well human. Ipso-facto-meeny-mo, ipso-facto-magic-oh!"
Marin felt a twinge on her neck. She reached down and felt...nothing? She looked at Martha, puzzled.
"Expected gills, human? Gills are so inefficient, you have to keep moving just to survive. You now have the breathing capabilities of one of us, but only until sundown. When that time comes, you will breathe air again, and you will drown if you don't surface. Fro now, though, come with me..."
As Marin swam hand-in-hand with Martha, she could see things that she couldn't before; there was a whole city at the bottom of the bay!
"Mermaid magic isn't limited to breathing water, dear," Martha answered the unasked question. "We can also make things appear invisible. How else do you think myths arise from mermaid sightings? For now though, I want you to become familiar with us mermaids..." She took Marin to the largest building in the city, the palace of the Mermaid Queen, while Marin was painfully embarrased to be seen by all these people completely naked.

Link searched every single house in the Animal Village, multiple times. The rabbit said that she was staying at her house, but must've left early in the morning or earlier that night. Link figured she probably headed home, but he didn't want to warp in case he missed her. He took a shortcut through Martha's Bay (She's a strong swimmer, she might've gone this way), walking right past Marin's clothes in the bushes, unaware that she was right below him.

The queen sniffed Marin and she circled around her, Marin's face completely pink. The queen's bright blonde hair swirling around a central column of orange.
"You are inseminated, human." The queen's deep, dominating voice made Marin tremble, yet it still sounded calming, like a mother figure. "You have a new life growing inside you."
Even though Martha said the same, the truth only now hit her. "I-I'm WHAT?"
The queen sniffed again. "It's a girl. You will soon be the mother of a baby girl, flaming hair like yours, but with the heart of a warrior and the kindness of a saint. You made a good choice of a mate."
Marin couldn't believe it. (Pregnant? With Link's baby? Oh goddesses, dad will kill me...). "I have to go, I need to tell him." She started to swim away, but the queen's guards blocked the way.
Martha chimed in. "Dearie, I told you. You are ours for the next day. Tomorrow is a new day, you can tell him then. I am sure that nothing bad will happen in the next few days. Now, take her to the guest room!" she commanded the guards. "Come on, my queen, I think our new friend wishes to feel you."

Marin wasn't in Mabe, nor at Crazy Tracy's, not even the witch could figure out where she was via divination. Link was going stir crazy. If there was one person on the island who he could tell, it was her. With these thoughts permeating his mind, he did the only thing that could clear his mind, and headed for the Face Shrine.

The mermaids are all female, nude above the waist. They have one hole for reproduction, hidden underneath their underside's scales. Any mermaids wishing to breed with each other can get pregnant with each other, can lay their eggs together, the eggs will fuse, and the result will be a new mermaid. If a male of any species other than Zora breeds with a mermaid, they will get pregnant just as a human would, and birth a Zora. However, if a Zora breeds with a Mermaid, the result is a corrupted Zora, one of the evil ones above who will attack anything and everything.
Marin learned all this from a book in the "guest room," although it was more like a sex room, with adult toys and similar themes books all over the walls. (I guess the queen likes girls. Is she going to try and breed with me? Is that even possible, if my egg is already taken by Link?)
The doors swung open silently, behind Marin's back, and two mermaids swam in, closing and locking the door. Martha and the queen slowly crept up to the unaware woman and swiftly swam to her and hugged her from behind. Marin screamed in surprise. They spun her around and the queen kissed her deeply on the lips.
"Dearie," Martha began, "I hope you enjoyed the book left out for visitors. I will get to the point. The queen wants a successor. She wants you to give her one. She is getting older and will not be able to breed soon. She wants the baby in your womb to be the new queen of the mermaids!"
Marin broke the kiss. "What?! No! I don't care if you are the last mermaid on the planet, stay away from my baby!" She felt oddly protective of the child inside her.
The queen's demenor broke. "Human. You do not seem to understand your position. The magic spell cast on you is fatal if broken, and you agreed to do whatever we wished. Now, will you be submissive, or..." the queen pulled out a shark-tooth knife from under her scales.
"Dear, please play along. Us mermaids are a dying race, we just want what is best to continue our lineage."
"Not me... anyone but me..." Marin cried. "Please, not my baby, pick on anyone else but me..."
"You seem defiant human. You do not wish for this to be done. Very well. Guards! Hold her down!" The guards swam into the room, carrying in heavy chains with cuffs. The queen approached Marin with her knife. "This must be done. I am sorry."
"Wait! Please, I'll do it!" Marin cried. "I'll give you my baby..." She couldn't stop the tears. "I'll do it willingly."
The queen smiled sadistically. "If that is your wish, human." The queen snapped her fingers and transformed into a tall muscular blonde woman. "I will breed with you like this, your child will become mine!"

Link finished up the Face Shrine, still thinking of Marin. It was now late afternoon. (I have a really bad feeling about her right now... Marin's in trouble somewhere! The question is, where is she? Maybe I just missed her and she's back in the Animal Village.) When he got there, the rabbit ran up to him and said that she found Marin's dress next to the bay. With newfound determination, he ran off to catch up to his beloved.

The queen had Marin pinned down, smothering their crotches together, Martha and the guards kissing her and fondling her breasts.

Link forced a corrupted Zora to talk. "That black-haired bitch pulled a cute human underwater. Probably to fuck her and kill her at their castle. Good luck finding it though. Hehehe..." Link was enraged, but he knew he couldn't hold his breath long enough to survive, but remembered that there was a hidden Zora in the Animal Village, and he ran as hard as he could. He felt that time was of the essence. It was nearly sunset.
"You can see me? How about a picture to congratulate your achievement? No? The undersea palace? Your love? Breathing underwater? Metal Gear? Yeah, I can do that, although my magic isn't as strong as the mermaids, it can only last for a few minutes... If you're sure, here we go!" Link sprinted back to the water's edge and dove in, not caring about his equipment. Swimming as hard as he can, he powered through the water, seeing the mermaid capital for the first time, not slowing down as he passed the gates. (I bet she's in the tallest building,) and he swam right toward the queen's castle.

Marin's mind was going blank. Martha's kisses on her lips and nibbles on her ear were bad enough to deal with. Combine that with the guards expertly licking and nibbling her nipples and the queen gringing their pussies together in a desperate attempt to get her to cum, and she could only last another minute or two. Drawing his sword, Link burst into the guest room, all while being pursued by the royal guard. "MARIN!"
"WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THI-" the queen began before Link slashed his sword at the rapist. The clear water got noticably red, as the cut along the former queen's throat seperated her head from her shoulders.
The mermaids screamed and scattered, allowing Link to swoop in scoop up Marin in his right hand, while still holding his sword in his left. Marin had passed out, whether due to shock or orgasm, Link couldn't tell.
The royal guard was in shock, this human just swam up to the queen and murdered her in cold blood, picked up the human and was escaping. It all happened so fast that only a handful of them even tried to stop him, but his rage was so overbearing that he easily shrugged off their attacks (the blue tunic also helped). Making his way into the city, the citizens were going wild with the news of the queen's death. Without stopping, he swam up to the surface, where there was a friendly face waiting for him, a fisherman Link had persuaded to lend him his boat. Link and Marin rocketed out of the water, landing hard on the wooden boat's floor, and Link and the fisherman rowed to shore, the far shore from the Animal Village, where they should be relatively safe from the mermaids.
"Tha'un sure is on' perdy girl, young'un." The old man oogled Marin's stiff body. Link pretended not to hear him.
"Marin, please, wake up! I can't do this without you! Please! C'mon, please, don't be dead, please don't be dead..." Link started to cry, his adrenaline beginning to fade.
"Put a fing'r to her neck right there. If'n her heart is beat'n, y'all'll feel it" Link followed his instructions, and he felt her heartbeat, weak, but present. "She might've gotten water in her lungs. Y'all gots ta push it out and fill it with air." Link did as instructed and tried to force water out of her lungs, followed my mouth-to-mouth. She wasn't responding.
From the water, a single young mermaid saw the sobbing man try desperately to save the woman he loves, the same man who murdered her queen in cold blood just to save her. She couldn't help but admire him for that. The young mermaid was only a child, yet still, she put herself between the oncoming spears and the humans on shore. She didn't care what they did, she wanted them to be safe. She would protect them, from her own kind.
Marin stirred and coughed as her eyes came back to life. She threw up again. Link fell over beside her in relief.
"L-*cough cough cough* Link..."
"Marin..."
*silence* "I'ma head out now, leave'n the lovebirds alone" the fisherman said before rowing back to his preferred fishing spot under the bridge. "What a gorgeous sunset though"
Link held the soaked Marin in his arms, and they watched the sun set across the bay. "I left my dress on the far side," she said after a while.
"The rabbit has it." Link responded bluntly. (I would say 'Fancy a quick swim there?' but she doesn't need that right now)
"I should go get it. This world is full of monsters trying to take advantage of you."
"Not everything labelled as a monster is bad, though." Link retorted, remembering the helpful Zora. "But I understand your point. We should head out for the Animal Village soon." He got to his feet, and she followed suit.
She turned to face him. "Link, you're bleeding!" He was covered in deep wounds from the onslaught of the royal guard, including a deep cut under his eye, over the cheekbone, a cut on the back of his right hand, and a slash through his thigh, right above the knee, and the bone was almost visible. The other wounds weren't nearly as bad though.
"Tracy's medicine does wonders," he said aloud as his body repaired itself. "Otherwise, I would've..." He stopped himself before he said something he would regret.
"Link, I've got to say something to you..." she began. "When I was down there, there was a reason why the queen did what she did. She told my that she wanted my...my baby. To be their new queen"
"Your baby? Marin, you mean-"
"Yes, Link, I'm pregnant with your daughter. Link, I-"
He grabbed her shoulders and looked into her eyes, before pulling her in for a deep kiss. "I love you Marin," he said after breaking the embrace. " I always have and I always will. This is great news!"
Her face smiled, but her heart didn't, "Yeah, it's wonderful!" (But I don't remember what happened, I might've cum for the queen... I don't want to let Link down though... I should say something... Maybe later...).
Link had made up his mind. He would father his children on Koholint. With Marin at his side. He was on cloud nine.

On the seabed, the queen's body was being prepared for burial. The mermaids didn't know how to check for pregnancy on a human body, so they didn't bother, and sent her off to the royal grave. Unknown to them, one little cluster of cells was growing on the side of the queen's womb. A life cut short, embedded in a dead body.
