“I understand your concern Bann Esmerelle, but you cannot seriously think that removing what token force is still in the countryside and bringing them into the folds of Amaranthine will help protect the city any better. The city has walls and is as fortified as it can be and bringing in more troops will simply leave the farms totally unprotected and put more weight on the city’s resources. Our trade is not strong enough to make importing food from our neighbouring cities and settlements a feasible option, not with the trade routes as poorly protected as they are now. You will have to make do with the troops currently assigned, however know that I am taking a personal interest in the smuggling activities of the city which once resolved should leave the guards less divided in their duties” spoke Kirk with no small confidence, as he lounged somewhat lazily on the throne of Vigil’s Keep, staring down two nobles; Eddelbrek and Esmerelle who had both petitioned their case for more troops in their respective regions of the Amaranthine, the latter huffing in annoyance at the denial of her request. Turning from Esmerelle to Eddelbreak, Kirk lodged his opposition to Eddelbrek’s petition as he had Esmerelle’s moments before.
“However, sending more troops into the country side is not an option either, while it is true that Darkspawn attacks are occurring they appear to be random and spread out. No contingent of troops could sufficiently patrol that wide an area and make a difference. The number of Darkspawn is also unknown and any group of soldiers could face being greatly outnumbered at any moment, it is not impossible to imagine how the Darkspawn could systematically tear apart such a spread out force. “ “With all due respect, do you really think that the Darkspawn possess the intelligence to fight so effectively? They are beasts, not tacticians” argued Eddelbrek passionately, desperate to get more troops for his region. However, unlike Esmerelle he made his point with respect, acknowledging Kirk’s position of higher authority, as Esmerelle had not, causing Kirk to question the sincerity of her oath of fealty. “They are predators Eddelbrek, they know how to hunt and fight, how to trap, subterfuge is not beyond them; they displayed such intelligence when they sieged Ostagar, and subsequently all throughout the Blight” ‘My encounter with the various talking Darkspawn thus far also suggests some have are working together towards a grander agenda. Not to mention the speaking itself is an unsettling sign of intelligence’ mused Kirk silently. Captain Garavel nodded, obviously in some agreement with Kirk’s words but then turned to Kirk prompting the Warden Commander to elaborate then on what he planned to do with the extra troops. “The troops shall be sent to protect the trade routes, some patrolling the roads, others staying in specific garrisoned locations, if the people of the countryside must seek aid or escape the Darkspawn, they would be advised to make their way to the roads and the soldiers stationed there. With the bolstered trade we can better support the need for food that losing some of the farms may bring about, while dispatching soldiers from the trade routes to defend farms is not a march unlikely to make it there in time. At the very least there will be a chance; this would not be the case were they to be stationed in the city.” As the two nobles parted from Kirk’s company obviously displeased that they did not get their way, Kirk suppressed a heavy sigh, wondering if he had made the correct decision; as much as positions of power allowed him to help things change for the better, they also placed much of the accountability for disasters on his shoulders. He was definitely beginning to consider Alistair’s initial objections to becoming King more valid. Out of the corner of his eye he caught the sour-faced Nathaniel Howe being overwhelmed by a gaggle of giggling women who obviously had no problems with bad heritage as long as it was noble and assuming the man was handsome. Turning his head slowly, he sought to see the scene more directly, amused by the man’s unsuccessful attempts to detach himself from the women’s very aggressive and slightly drunken flirtations. Kirk didn’t think the noble was like him; it wasn’t that Nathaniel didn’t like women in that way; he just seemed to not like any of these particular women, probably due to their utterly flippant and shallow personalities. Nathaniel turned from one clingy woman to another, catching Kirk watching him as he did, Kirk responded with a small smile, just a bit more than a smirk, sending the dark noble into a fluster as he blushed madly. He rapidly separated himself from the women hurried from the room. Kirk chuckled; Nathaniel hadn’t quite gotten over the “incident” from two nights ago, not that he blamed him; he’d likely be the same had something similar occurred. Kirk just wasn’t feeling sleepy, a condition he developed upon taking over rulership of the Amaranthine. It wasn’t a problem every night but it struck every now and them forcing him to stay up later than the others of his motley band of Wardens. He usually found himself improving his reading with some of the books from the Keep’s rather impressive library; being a political presence required a certain degree of literacy that was decidedly absent from the skillsets of the Alienage elves, mostly due to the absence of education beyond one’s trade. He had made remarkable progress in his journeys and in his time as the lord of the Alienage but there was still much room for improvement. This night was different though, he was too restless from his day’s work, and he just couldn’t allow himself to sit down and read as he normally did, instead he found himself pacing the stony hallways of the Keep, trying to be relatively quiet as to not wake everyone else. He thought he was the only one up until he came to Nathaniel’s room, as he passed he thought he heard the creaking of wood, at first assuming it just to be Nathaniel restless in his sleep but then he heard the sound again and then came the loud grunt. Curious he opened the door to find Nathaniel in bed as expected though not quite in the way he had expected. The young nobleman was completely naked, back arched, his pelvis raised above the bed, body illuminated by the soft light of a dying candle. With another grunt he slid his hand back down his veiny penis; the head a dark shade, looking ripe and ready to burst. As his hand lowered down his pulsing meat he exhaled in pleasured his hips landing back on the bed, the wooden structure giving a creak. He worked himself furiously, oblivious to Kirk standing in his doorway, the elf’s mouth agape with surprise, as Nathaniel’s hand and dick, slick with precum pumped furiously, the motions making slippery sounds. As Nathaniel groaned and began to buck he opened his eyes as he prepared to finish off… and caught the staring Kirk in the process, the shock causing his hand to fall still, his impending orgasm stopped. He had to hand it to Nathaniel; this was a surprise, he didn’t think the noble had it in him to be a normal guy who needed to let loose sometimes. Naturally, Nathaniel was just as surprised, the two stared at each other momentarily before Kirk began to smirk, obviously amused as the other man’s sensibilities kicked in and he drew up the sheets and over himself, as Kirk tried to make an apology, he found himself wordless and dodging Nathaniel’s pillow as it was flung at him. Seeing this as a lost cause for diplomacy the blonde elf quickly turned on his heels and left the room without a word, closing the door behind him as a second pillow was flung and bounced off the door’s wood. Kirk hurried down the hallways back to his room; not because he sought to escape the man out fear or embarrassment but because with that image now struck inside his head he found himself suddenly in need of the same kind of pleasure and assumedly his room would give him some privacy, assuming no one else was up and as curious as him. He had to admit, a small part of him wished that Nathaniel had not noticed him until after he had ejaculated, but there was nothing for it now. While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
