"Which girl would be next?" Was the thought that ran through Link's mind as he entered Hyrule Field. Link's mind was drawn to memories of Navi. "I really do hope I can see her again..." Link thought, sadly. He walked all the way until he nearly reached the drawbridge to Hyrule Market, when a voice suddenly echoed in his mind. "...Hero, this is Nayru..." Link looked around, and raised an eyebrow. He kept walking, but slower than before. "What is it?" He thought. After a moment, Nayru's voice reached him. "We've decided that we're not going to send you any girls for a little bit...Perhaps a few days, at the most...." Link nodded, and thought "Alright, that's no big deal." Nayru's voice didn't leave him. "But....We've also decided on something else...Is there any girl you really want to see?..." Link thought for a moment, and then thought "Yes..." "Which one? For the time when we don't send you any girls, you can spend your time with her." Link thought, and said "I want to see Navi..." After a moment, Nayru sighed. "I...I'm sorry, Hero...But I'm not sure where she is at the moment..." Link grew worried for Navi. "What do you mean? I want to see her! Where could she be?" He asked. "The last I was able to see her, she was flying through a dark forest, not to far from the outskirts of Hyrule. Then she...She seemed to disappear."
Link grew deeply saddened, and said "Well, tell me where the forest is! I have to find her!" Nayru's voice quickly appeared, saying "No! You cannot leave just yet! Your next adventure must not happen right away, we still need you to help a few girls..." Link grew angry. "...In the end, I will find Navi....With, or without, your help..." Nayru's voice came to him a moment later. "Don't worry, Hero...We will help you find Navi...But not right now. Don't worry, she is in no danger..." Link sighed. "At least she's okay..." He thought. "Now, Hero...Is there another girl you'd like to spend a few days with? We will not interrupt you, so you really will be alone with the girl for a while..." Link still felt sad over not being able to see Navi, but his heart pointed to another girl he'd love to be with. Link smiled, and said "Can I see Medli?" After a moment, Nayru said "Yes, she's available right now...You know, Hero...She hasn't stopped thinking about you since the two of you met..." Link's smile grew happier, but he said nothing. Nayru's voice seemed happy, as well. "Okay, Hero...We will send her to you...She will be with you in just a moment....When we're able to start sending you girls once more, we'll take Medli home...And, if you'd like, before we send you the next girl after her, we can help you find Navi..."
Link's soul lifted. "Yes! So, let me get this perfectly clear, just so I'm not getting my hopes up for anything....I'll be able to spend a few days with Medli, and when you take her home, you'll help me find Navi?" Nayru's voice softly chuckled. "Yes, Hero..." Link grinned. "Awesome! That's so good to hear!" Nayru softly laughed again. "It's always good to hear you happy, Hero...Medli will be with you shortly...Goodbye, Hero...Until the next time..." Nayru's voice vanished. Link stood still for nearly a minute, waiting for Medli to appear. Suddenly, a beam of light appeared on the ground in front of Link, as if the sun was focusing on that particular spot. It was very bright, but didn't hurt Link's eyes. In a few moments, a figure began to appear in the light, facing away from Link. Link smiled. The light vanished, and Link saw Medli standing there, quietly. She looked left and right, taking a few steps forward. "Medli?..." Link murmured, loud enough for her to hear. Medli froze, and slowly turned around. When she saw Link, her face grew deeply happy. "Link!" Medli said loudly, rushing over to him. Link dropped down to one knee just as Medli ran up to him, allowing a proper hug. Medli threw her arms around him, hugging him tightly. Link chuckled, hugging Medli back. "Link!....I missed you so much!..." Medli whispered.
Medli kissed Link on the cheek, whispering "I love you so much....I missed you, Link...." They released each other. Medli had tears in her eyes. "I was beginning to think I would never be able to see you again..." Link smiled, and came closer to her, kissing her on the lips softly. Medli smiled, and hastily wiped away her tears. Link stood up. "Medli, I've thought about you a lot since we last saw each other..." Medli looked up into Link's eyes, blushing slightly. "Really?..." She asked. Link nodded, closing his eyes with a smile. Medli smiled happily, putting her arms around Link once more. Link put his hands on her shoulders. Medli smiled happily. "Link...Let me kiss you some more..." Medli whispered, blushing a bit more. Link came down onto his knees, so his head was level with Medli's. Medli smiled, and put her hands on either side of Link's neck. Link put his hands on her hips. Medli came closer to him, kissing him passionately, her beak-nose pressing against his cheek. After a few moments, Medli stopped kissing Link, pulling away, but she didn't lower her hands from his neck.
She simply gazed into his eyes. After a few moments of staring lovingly into his eyes, she slowly came closer for one final hug. Link held her for nearly a minute, smiling the whole time. After they released each other, Link murmured "I have good news, Medli..." Medli smiled. "Oh? What is it?" She asked. Link's smile grew into a grin. "You won't have to leave me for a while...Maybe even a few days!..." Medli smiled, tears slowly coming into her eyes again. "Link! That's great!" She put her hands on Link's cheeks, kissing him. After the kiss, Link reached up, and wiped away Medli's tears. "You're crying a lot, Medli..." Link whispered. Medli giggled softly, and said "It's just that I'm so happy, Link...." Link smiled. After a moment or two, Link stood up, and held out his hand. "Well, Ms. Medli....Shall we go for a walk?" Medli smiled playfully, and said "I would like that very much, Mr. Link." Link held out his right hand, Medli taking it in her left.
They began to walk over to the drawbridge of Hyrule Market, holding hands and smiling contently. When they reached the drawbridge, Medli stopped. Link looked at her. "What's wrong?" He asked. Medli made a face, almost as if she was confused. "Uhhh....I don't know...My head feels kind of funny..." Link's mind grew sad. "Don't tell me they're sending her home already!" He thought. Medli released Link's hand, and dropped down on her butt with a thud. She raised both her hands to her head. "Oooohh.....I've got a really bad headache...." She whimpered painfully. Link gritted his teeth. "It'll be alright, don't worry, Medli!" Link quickly got to her side, and slipped his arms underneath Medli's knees and mid back. Medli sighed as Link picked her up, closing her eyes. Link began to speedily make his way into the Market, heading straight for the newly-rebuilt Potion Shop.
Link ran in, someone opening the door for him when they saw he was carrying Medli, who seemed like she might've lost consciousness. Link saw that it was not the usual salesman, but another man, older looking, with a strange-looking hat of sorts on his head. His eyes widened when he saw Medli. "Oh dear! Put her on the counter!" The man said, clearing the counter of items. Link brought her down gently, without saying a word. "I promise to pay you whatever you want, just please help her!" The man nodded, saying "Don't worry, I'll help you, young man." He quickly grabbed a nearby bottle of red fluid, Link recognizing it as a Health Potion. "Here, make her drink this..." He said, handing Link the bottle. Then, he reached behind the counter again, and pulled out a bottle with a purple mist swirling inside it. "Then, release this Poe over her. It should help." Link nodded, but eyed the Poe bottle cautiously. He knew that Poes were more or less based on luck- They might heal you, or they might hurt you. All depends on the spirit of the Poe. Link shrugged, not willing to waste time.
Link uncorked the bottle of red life-saving fluid with a pop, and gently opened Medli's mouth by pulling down under her bottom lip with his thumb. He tipped the bottle over Medli's mouth, a mouthful of the liquid pouring out, slipping between her lips. After a moment, Medli swallowed, smiling slightly afterwards. "Now, the Poe." The man said, watching Link. Link uncorked the Poe's bottle, the spirit squirming with excitement at it's soon-to-come freedom. Link nodded graciously, and said "Thanks! How much do I owe you?" The man smiled, and shook his head. "It's free, for the Hero of Time. Please come again some time!" Link nodded, smiling happily. "Oh, thanks!"
Medli's eyes slowly opened, her breathing light, but peaceful. She stared at Link, a gentle smile crossing her face. "Link...What happened?...." She asked. Link smiled. "I don't know, you just seemed to get sick really fast..." Medli sat up, shaking slightly. Link steadied her. "You brought me to a potion shop?..." She asked, her smile strengthening. Link nodded. "Yeah, I didn't have any potions on me, so....I wasn't just going to leave you there...." Medli smiled, and rested the side of her face against Link's chest, still sitting on the counter. The man smiled at the sight. After a few moments, Link said "Alright, Medli...Come on, let's go....We can go rest in the shade..." Medli smiled, murmuring wordlessly in delight. Link helped her off the counter, walking out the door with her. He kept his arm around her, Medli holding his other hand.
He guided her over to one of the entrances to the alleyways of the Market, along the Bombchu Shop. He walked with her a bit farther into the alleys, the dark, cool air surrounding them pleasantly. Link smiled, blushing slightly. After a moment, Medli's eyes grew a bit sad, and looked off to the side. "That's okay, Link...I'm not trying to pressure you about anything...If you don't want to say it, that's fine...." Link felt a bit bad, feeling sorry for making Medli sad. He unwrapped his arms from around Medli, and she got up from him. "What's the matter, Link? Is everything okay?" She asked, worriedly.
