V was awakened by her holo going off. She checked the time, almost 6 in the morning. With a groan, she sits up and takes the call, surprised to see the caller ID. “Rogue?” Rogue Amendiares, the Fixer Queen of the Afterlife was on the other side of the line “Rough night?” she asks, V shakes her head “No, it’s all good… What uh… What can do for you?” Rogue quietly smirks “It seems you and Jackie Welles have been making waves lately, lots of buzz around you two” V stands up heading to the window, opens it, and watches the rain fall on the city “We do what we can, in this business, there’s nowhere to go but up” Rogue nods “That I can agree with, it’s a shame that Dexter DeShawn didn’t see things the same way” V stretches next, she was unsure if Rogue was probing her, but she played along “Burnin’ people who work with you is not the way to make it to the top” Rogue seemed satisfied and proceeded to speak business “I’ve decided to see for myself how formidable you’re taking jobs, V, I got a contract, a special one, I’d like you to take it. You do well in it, and there’ll be more jobs from me” V nods again “Alright, I can call Jackie and we’ll be in the Afterlife soon” Rogue shakes her head “This is a one merc job, besides, I need someone who can do things with finesse, I admire Jackie Welles and his willingness to blow up his way to a complete contract, but he’s not the right fit here” V sits on the bed and nods “I understand. So what’s the job?”.
“The contract is coming from City Hall” Rogue says “Head to office 20-1883 and tell them you’re there for the noon appointment, the contact there will give you the rest of the details” V frowns momentarily “Are those all the details you can give me? Isn’t this information a little… Bare?” Rogue nods “It is, but it’s on purpose. It’s the way I work, high profile clients won’t give me any contracts to distribute unless my mercs are willing to see the job through, so they give me the full brief, but I only give the merc a partial one, we can’t risk mercs declining contracts and spilling confidential information out there, can we? Call it an executive privilege” V sighs but nods, she remembers what Claire told her, Rogue operated on the up and up and she protected her people “So, got all the details then?” Rogue asks as V stands and approaches her wardrobe, looking for an outfit “Yeah, office 20-1883, tell whoever’s there that I’m there for the noon appointment and go from there” Rogue chuckles “Good girl, looking forward to hearing the good news of a job well done”.
V found it difficult to pick an outfit she thought would match the appropriate environment of City Hall, other than the restricted information, she had no idea what kind of job that would be. For all she knew, a staff member was looking to get rid of a competitor, or something like that. She could forget about the micro skirts, the barely there tops, and the fishnets. Fortunately for her, and considering the increase in her jobs, she had managed to expand her wardrobe, even to styles she didn’t personally favor. Neo-Militarism would be an adequate style, with solid colors with sober designs for the most part.
After she took a shower and prepared herself, she put on an outfit that could only be described as a two-piece dress with geometric patterns, with a long cut on the left to favor her movement in case she had to jump into some action. The dress itself was dark and the geometric patterns were golden, she also wore ankle boots with a discrete heel. She hated how she looked like a corpo employee, but the job was the job. Her jewelry and make-up also reflected the sobriety of her look, opting for only one ring and one necklace and just a discrete touch on her face and lips. She finally wore rectangular shades to complete the outfit.
Obviously, she couldn’t just ride her motorcycle wearing that outfit, so she hired a one-way trip with Delamain, despite the corporation still dealing with AI issues, they were operating with over 90% efficiency, which for many people would mean they were operating normally. She also decides to give Jackie a call, informing him of the contract that Rogue had just given her. He didn’t like the idea of V working a Rogue contract on her own, but she assured him: If she did well, many more Rogue contracts would come their way soon enough.
As time kept moving, she was notified of the arrival of the Delamain vehicle at the parking garage of her building. When she made her way there, it was clear none of her neighbors recognized her. V couldn’t decide if she liked or hated that. Once she got into the vehicle and verified her identity, the journey to City Hall started.
As the Delamain cruised through Night City, V was still surprised by the maneuverability of the AI-driven vehicles, arriving at their destination just before the estimated time. The building was imposing, but the security on the grounds was intimidating: NCPD officers patrolling the area, many of them wearing Militech exoskeletons, and dozens of drones constantly scanning the area. Once inside, she saw several staffers and councilmen go about their day, V took a look at the map and then proceeded to take an elevator that would take her to the 20th floor.
Once there, she headed towards office 20-1883, a secretary was hard at work at her station “Hello, good afternoon, may I help you?” she greets, V approaches her “Good afternoon, I’m here for the noon appointment” the secretary pressed a button and then motioned at V so she could proceed to the next room as the door opened for her, closing the second she was on the other side. Inside, she met with two men, both heavy set, and before V could speak, one of them beckoned her. As she walks forward, one of the men addresses her “So you must be the merc Rogue recommended” He extends his hand to her “My name is Weldon Holt, and this is Night City Mayor, Lucius Rhyne” V was not into politics, sometimes she saw being a politician and being a corpo as the same thing, but even she knew who Lucius Rhyne was. The mayor approaches V and shakes her hand next “Lucius Rhyne, it’s a pleasure to meet you. I trust you didn’t have trouble finding the office?” V shakes her head as the mayor takes a seat “Weldon, please fill her in” the other man approaches and starts debriefing her “As you know, high profile men, be it politicians and corporate figures are oftentimes the targets of threats of violence, Mayor Rhyne is, unfortunately, no different. Today’s, uh, assignment, will be to guard the mayor, here’s the schedule for the rest of the day” He presents V with a shard that she started to read.
While the mayor had an early day, the day wouldn’t end until late at night. He had a meeting with corporate figureheads, then a rally with factory workers in Santo Domingo, and it finished with what only was filled with ‘Relaxing at the Race’, Holt continues to explain the situation “The assignment is relatively simple, you’ll be escorting Mayor Rhyne and his staff and keeping an eye on any potential threats, if something should happen, your focus will be to ensure the mayor’s safety, for all intents and purposes, you’ll pose as a member of his staff” V thought how fortunate it was that she had dressed the way she did “Throughout the day, you may see or hear conversations or topics of conversations that are considered sensitive, you’ll be signing a legally binding document that prohibits you from discussing anything you see or hear to anyone, in return, and once the day is over, you’ll be paid for your services and your time, and of course, a glowing report will be sent to your sup–, I mean, your fixer. Do you have any questions?” V looked at Holt, he wasn’t a pleasant man to look at, neither of them was, but he looked particularly annoyed, bored, or both. “Am I the only one working this contract?” she asks, Holt shakes his head “The NCPD will have an officer also dressed for the part, you will coordinate with him, we believe that your expertise and his will be a good combination to have for the rest of the day… Ah, in fact, it seems he has just arrived”.
V turned to the opening door, and she groaned to herself as Detective River Ward walked in, dressed in a suit that was not his style. Similar to her and her current outfit. “Detective Ward, this is—” Holt started “V, hello, good to see you again” he says smiling, Holt looks at him and then at V “Ah, you’ve met?” River nods “Yes, she was my informant on a Scavenger case a while back, she has been a great help” Rhyne smiles as he hears the interaction “Oh, this is most fortuitous, must be a good sign” Holt looks at both the merc and the detective “I’m sure it is… Excuse me a moment, will you? I need to go through a few matters with the mayor before we depart”.
As Holt and Rhyne converse on the back, River approaches V “That dress suits you well” V just breathed in, and faked her best smile to River “Thanks, you look good in that suit too” River looked at it and shrugged, whispering to her “I hate it, last time I wore a suit it was for my sister’s wedding, and it’s been a while… You also don’t look too comfortable, I bet you’d feel better with ass-kicking outfits rather than formal wear” She was still weary of talking to police officers, but he wasn’t wrong, they both were as uncomfortable as they came. “Just hang in there V, it’s just the rest of the day”.
Holt returns looking at them both “We’ll be riding the limousine to Konpeki Plaza, where the Mayor has an important meeting with Arasaka executives, you’ll be riding with us as part of the Mayor’s entourage, the NCPD has dispatched two patrol cars as the escorts to the limousine. Once on the hotel grounds, you’ll be allowed to keep your handguns, if you have anything bigger than a handgun, then leave it in the car. Then we will make our way to one of the executive suites on the top floor, where the Mayor and I will meet with the Arasaka executives, and you’ll keep watch for the duration of the meeting, any questions?” V shakes her head “All clear, sir” Holt nods taking a digital tablet and collecting V and River’s signatures “That’s the NDA, a copy will be sent your way, if there’s nothing else, then let’s get started”.
While not a Delamain, the mayor’s limousine was indeed luxurious. She was sitting on one extreme while River was sitting opposite her, all while Holt and the Mayor were going through some last-second reviews on some of the contents of the meeting. V had heard that the security at Konpeki had doubled since the infiltration some time ago, and it showed: Arasaka security personnel right off the gate, and through the driveway. New turrets were installed at the entry of the hotel, and there were two sets of guards watching the entryway and the path to the lobby. Once the entourage reached the entrance, the alarms showed they were carrying weapons “They are part of Mayor Rhyne’s entourage and security detail” Holt stated, as the alarm was suspended and they proceeded inside. Once at the reception desk, they were treated as royalty, and immediately directed to an executive elevator that would take them to the executive floor they were looking for.
V just looked at the bar momentarily, it was as big as her apartment, and the variety of drinks most likely included some delicacies she was yet to try. Once in the elevator, Holt turns to V and River “We’ll be headed to the suite now, don’t speak unless spoken to, or addressed, we’ll stay for as long as we need to stay” Both River and V simply nodded. The job hadn’t even started properly, and V was already bored out of her mind. As the doors open, the group heads to the suite at the end of the hall. The suite itself was as big as the bar, maybe even bigger, and it was divided into two sections. It was richly decorated with Japanese themes and golden accents, with a red and black color scheme, reflecting their Arasaka allegiance. V noticed the executives already waiting with their bodyguards at the ready. Holt discretely motions for the spots where V and River would wait. And without much ceremony, the meeting began.
It looked like the Arasaka executives weren’t exactly pleased with City Hall on some development contracts and the presence of Militech in the city. V was thankful she was wearing shades because that way no one could see her rolling her eyes. A politician in some corporation’s payroll? Perish the thought. Rhyne tried to argue that while he was partial to Arasaka and the way they developed themselves, he was also for an inclusive Night City, and couldn’t in good faith, ask Militech to leave, as it meant millions in revenue lost, not to mention the impact on society with hundreds of thousands jobs lost, if not more. It didn’t take long before V got a text message from River.
“I’m bored out of my mind” he wrote. V replied, thankful for the non-spoken interface “I thought you were used to this rot, you being a badge and all” V couldn’t notice a reaction from River, but she got a reply anyway “I’m a Detective, different from being a regular beat cop” V glanced at the man, then at the executives having the meeting, then at their bodyguards, and finally at River “Call it whatever you like, choom, you’re still an NCPD badge” they both remained motionless, but River was working on a reply “What’s your problem with police anyway? Other than the mixup on that rooftop I don’t think I’ve mistreated you, and I am sure I apologized for that, so, what gives?” V kept an eye on the meeting, then on River “Small dicks, blow their wad in two strokes, never again” V noticed then a visible reaction on River, he attempted to cough, and managed to muffle it, she was satisfied with herself as she receives another message from him “W-wait… what?”.
“I don’t think you understand, Mr. Mayor, Arasaka has been very generous to you, your staff, and your administration, if you’re not going to make Militech leave, then we need to have those development contracts approved. Need I remind you of the Militech attack in this very hotel? Even one of their bots was found in the vicinity!” V’s ears perk up at that part of the conversation “That’s not definite proof that Militech was directly involved, that drone could have been bought” the executive scoffs “Hardly, Militech has that model marked as a prototype, not for public release” then Holt intervenes “Stolen then, Militech had a convoy up and disappear on the border a few weeks before the attack, and while we don’t have access to their manifesto, it’s entirely possible the drone was there” the executive leans against their chair “Be that as it may, Mr. Mayor, Arasaka-sama expects a positive resolution on those contracts, and he’ll want to know what is taking so long to get them moving” Rhyne sighs “You don’t understand, election season is upon us, how do you think this will make me look? It’ll appear as if I’ve lost control of Watson, the district I’m from!” the executive shrugs “A fact of no interest to Arasaka”.
The room then fell silent for a few seconds, the Arasaka executives speak among themselves “Perhaps the mayor and his assistant need a reminder of the boons of working together” With a signal, one of the bodyguards heads to the door. V and River immediately stand on guard, each reaching for their gun, Holt approaches them “It’s fine” he says somehow assuring them. Her hand still hovered over her gun, same with River. The bodyguard returned a few moments later with two ladies, they looked young, and they were scantily clad too. V remained in her position, guessing what this was about. Once the ladies stood in front of Rhyne and Holt, they got undressed, and their clothes were on the floor a few seconds later, as V and River witnessed the girls climbing on the laps of both Holt and Weldon. “Holy shit, V, are you seeing this?” he texted, V took a moment to reply “I am, this is kind of hot, choom, shut up a moment”.
V kept watching the scene, as the two girls were lustfully kissing the men. The executives were still sitting across them. V took note of the ink work on the girls’ bodies, Yakuza-style Irezumi tattoos. Were they part of Arasaka? They seemed more like Tyger Claws to her. The girls were fully synchronized in their movements, they dropped Holt and Rhyne’s pants at the same time, and they even started to suck them off at the same time, while also playing with each other. “Shit, V, I’ve never seen anything like this” he texted “And you never will again” V thought to herself. The girls started to ride both Holt and Rhyne at the same time. Rhyne looked like he could have a heart attack at any moment, he was sweating profusely and puffing loudly. Holt acted disinterested until he saw both girls kiss each other, their tongues entwined, and their hands anxiously exploring their bodies. The room was filled with the sloppy sounds of Rhyne and Holting ramming the girls, as well as the moans that they caused one another. Rhyne was the first to climax, forcing the girl’s head down as he blew his load on her face, the image caused Holt to do the same. The girls then started kissing each other, cleaning themselves up from the fluids, and after a few minutes, they picked up their clothes and left the suite as soon as they had arrived.
“Two weeks…” Rhyne finally spoke, breathing heavily “That’s all I can promise you, two weeks to get the contracts approved” The executive nodded “We will try to appease Arasaka-sama, and that’s what we can promise you”. With the exchange over, the executives and their bodyguards were the first to leave the suite. It took Rhyne and Holt some time to catch their breath, but after a few minutes, Holt motioned V and River to follow them, that part of the schedule was over.
