Chapter 2
For a few seconds after the shot rang out, and the body of the old man crumpled to the ground, there was nothing but silence. At least until the stranger turned to face the crowed of worshippers with the old preachers blood splattered across his cheek, that’s when all hell broke loose in the church.Women screaming, and running, men grabbing wives and children, and trying to escape the violent stranger that had just killed their peaceful priest, everyone was trying to get to the exit, it was a stamped. Nero vaguely heard Credo yell something before the guards that were present from the order began their counter attack against the stranger; however, they seemed to be no match for the man, and quickly fell to both his guns and sword. Nero grabbed Kyrie and dragged her towards her brother, and the body of the priest. Once there he turned and noticed the man heading towards them. He quickly charged towards the man launching himself into the air, and successfully kicking the man in the face with both feet, sending him flying backwards into the statue of the savior.“You’ve got a jacked up notion of fair play pal, and its beginning to piss me off.” Nero growled to the man sauntering towards him. He had his gun pointed at the man’s head, and vaguely heard Credo say something about getting reinforcements, and asking Nero to stall until they could return, but he ignored the orders. He could tell this guy was strong, and he really wanted to put this guy to test. He was also curious about the stranger; the man’s hair was pure white just like his, which made him wonder if there were others like him. Nero started to shoot, but the other man was fast, and was able to actually stop all of Blue Roses bullets with his own. It was quite interesting to see. Not only that, but the man moved fast, almost faster than Nero could follow. He quickly reloaded Blue Rose, in a complicated maneuver that didn’t require the use of his hands, seeing as his one arm was still wrapped in a sling, but when he was facing his target, he was no longer there. He heard movement behind him, and turned to the see other man step out from behind one of the statues.“Guess this just won’t cut it.” Nero shrugged, and put Blue Rose back into her holster on his leg. He turned and grabbed one of the swords that belonged to one of the fallen guards. It was nothing compared to Red Queen, but it would do for the moment. He turned back to his opponent, and revved the overwhelm on the sword in his hand.“What’s the point of packing a sword like that if you ain’t even gonna use it.” Nero taunted. The other man simply lifted his giant sword off his back, and looked at it for a few seconds, before repeating the actions that he had seen Nero do, just a few seconds earlier, with a mocking smirk on his face. Now Nero was pissed, he was so going to tear this guy a new asshole. The fight that followed was impressive to say the least. Both were very skilled with the swords, and it looked like it was going to keep going for awhile, but then the stranger managed to get behind Nero, and thrust towards him, with his sword straight out in front, so fast, that Nero didn’t have time to block with his own sword. His only option at that point was to bring up his arm that was still in the sling. When the sword connected, there was a bright flash of light, and his arm became visible, the sling having disintegrated. His arm was red from about the elbow down, with glowing blue veins and scales going around it. There was a sort of spike at the elbow, and the hand ended with long sharp looking claws. The inside of his palm glowed a soft blue.“Huh, so you’ve got a trick up your sleeve.” The stranger spoke for the first time.“And here I thought the cat got your tongue.” Nero replied quickly grabbing the blade in his hand and launching the stranger over his shoulder. To his disappointment the men landed in one of the benches, slide back a little and came to rest with his legs crossed.“I guess I’ve got some time to kill.” With that said he charged forward once again, but Nero had been ready for him this time, and jumped to meet him in the air. The sound of steel meeting steel was heard, as they passed each other. Nero landed on top of the now stacked pile of benches. The stranger just turned and looked up at him, with a small smirk on his face.***************** The kid was good, Dante was going to enjoy this, and it had been a long time since he had managed to find an opponent that actually was able to keep up with him.The battle resumed neither gaining nor losing any ground to the other that is until the kid decided that he was going to use that strange arm of his, and managed to catch Dante off guard. The punch landed squarely, and Dante went flying, but the kid wasn’t done with him yet. He caught Dante by the leg, and pulled him back towards him, fist raised to strike. The punch landed with enough force to drive Dante into the ground hard, the kid following with his normal hand still in Dante’s hair, he quickly followed the first punch with a flurry of punches to his face. Dante was starting to be very glad for the fact that he was a half devil. Judging from the kids reflexes, not to mention the strength behind the kids punches, which were causing him to start to lose control of his devil trigger. He was actually quite relieved when the kid finally stopped punching him, and through him against the large statue, that they had nearly completely destroyed with their battle. He wasn’t however, happy to have Rebellion impaling him once again. Dante couldn’t figure out why people liked stabbing him with his own sword, but he was really getting tired of it.***********Nero felt a lot better after having beaten the crap out of the guy who had been messing with him the entire time they had been fighting, not to mention running him through with his own sword. Yep Nero was quite happy with himself that is until he heard the stranger start talking.“Not bad kid.” The man said as he started to remove himself from the statue. Nero just stood there in shocked silence, there was no way he could’ve survived being run through the chest with that monster of a sword. “I would even go as far to say I underestimated you.” The stranger continued talking to him, as he pulled the sword from his chest, and leaned on it briefly. “Were the same, you and I…and them.” The strange was on pointing to the bodies of the guards that he had killed earlier. To Nero’s surprise, the faces that he saw, weren’t the human faces he had imagined being under the helmets of the guards. Instead the faces were black, and the eyes an eerie orange colour.“But I get the feeling you carry something different from the others.” Nero heard the stranger continue, he turned to look at the man only to find that he was already on the roof, back through the hole in the stained glass window.“What are you talking about?” Nero yelled up at the stranger, as he peered down at him.“You will come to find out the meaning soon enough.” Was all the answer he got. At this Nero fired Blue Rose at the stranger once again, but he had swiftly moved out of the way.“Adios Kid.” The stranger smirked, and was gone.‘Damn him, who the fuck is he?’ Nero thought. He didn’t get to ponder on him for too long, he heard the sound of people approaching from the hall, and quickly hide his arm, within the sleeve of his jacket. It wouldn’t do for the order to see the grotesque thing that his arm had become, if they did they would see him as a demon, and he didn’t want to experience what they did to demons.“Where is he?” He heard Credo demanded as soon as he entered the main chapel.“Sorry he managed to get away, I’ll get him though.”Before Credo could answer him, Nero heard Kyrie behind him, dragging Red Queen along behind her. He quickly grabbed the handle on the case and placed it on the ground, and started to put his sword together, not even really listening to Kyrie as she spoke; he was too pre-occupied with finding the strange man that he had fought, and making him answer his questions. Like why the hell he had the same hair colour as he did? For all Nero knew he was the only one with white hair, not to mention how the man had survived being impaled by his overly large sword, or even what he had meant with his parting words, it was all so confusing for Nero, and he wanted answers.“You will go after Dante, and you will bring him to Head Quarters, those are your orders.” Nero heard Credo say, successfully breaking into his thoughts.“Got it.” Nero started to turn and head for the door, but was stopped by Kyrie standing in front of him. He noticed that she had put on the necklace he had bought her, but it was more of a passing notice, he wasn’t actually all that concerned with whether or not she actually chose to wear it.“Nero you can’t go, you still haven’t fully recovered yet.” She whined at him.“I know but duty calls.” Was all he could say, he had to try really hard not to roll his eyes at her. Sometimes she could be so annoying, and mother hen like, it was ridiculous. That said, he turned and headed out the door, to find the man named Dante, and hopefully get some answers.
