The man stood still, nearly invisible to the naked eye. He was covered in rags of what used to be a demonic looking robe. He stood behind a crate on the side of the cobblestone road in Stormwind. His hair was dusty and ruffled, and a large scar went across his left eye. His eyes themselves were pure white, no pupil or spec of color. They seemed to be following a human walked along the road, a noble like character. They narrowed as the man looked around, obviously curious with the world around him. Once the man turned towards the one covered in shadows. He obviously didn’t see anything, as his gaze kept wandering, but the man in the shadows grinned. Shadows began creeping up his body, eating it away bit by bit until he was gone. I walked along the road of the canal taking in the sights. It was still hard to believe, although overall I had accepted it. I was now in the game. Or is it a game? I thought briefly. I shook my head, scolding myself. Of course it is! It’s not like any of this is real. And with that it was out of my mind. I stepped across the bridge to the other side of the canal, heading into the Old Town. I decided it was time to see what I could do. After all, my character was a priest. I should be able to utilize shadow magic at my discretion, but with a lack of targets that would get me executed should I attack; I decided to head to the training facility. It lacked a proper name, but it was a small area behind the Old Town where the SI:7 lay, and with training dummies scattered throughout. I decided that would be the best place to start, as I wasn’t entirely sure going up against a wolf would be a good idea. Sure, it was level one in the game. But everything else has seemed different, so it could very well take a chunk of me off. And that probably wouldn’t be pleasant. I nearly tripped over a piece of cobblestone that had broken off the main road. True to its name, Old Town was the oldest part of Stormwind. Apparently, that told people that it didn’t need maintenance either. So the roads were crumbling, buildings wearing, yet no one stepped in to help. Oh well. Wasn’t my problem. I knew I had reached the newer area behind Old Town because of the white brick coating the ground. I walked through the small fortress where the battlemasters resided and paused once I reached the area behind. As I had remembered, training dummies dotted the area, but that’s not what caught my interest. A female night elf was training on one of the larger dummies. She was using a bow, signifying that she was a hunter, confirmed at the sight of a large panther attacking the dummy as well. She shot arrow after arrow, I could barely see her hands as they moved to and from the quiver strapped to her back. Despite pulling out arrows at blinding speeds, the quiver never seemed to empty. She wore an interesting assortment of equipment; it was obviously a full set, as the entire outfit matched. The armor had a mix of brown and green colors. The majority of the armor was brown, looking much like leather, but I wasn’t close enough to be sure. Much like my own shoulderpads, hers had a layer of green in the middle, emanating a fel-looking glow. The same green dotted her wristguards and lined her chestpiece. Whether the chestpiece didn’t cover her entirely was because it wasn’t meant to or her generous bust, I couldn’t say. But it stopped a little below her chest, leaving her light blue tummy exposed. Her bow was something of interest, it seemed to match her gear, but had blades on both ends and in the front, making it a deadly melee weapon should anything get close enough. It had two glowing green orbs on either side, their glow brightening every time an arrow was fired. And with this elf, they almost never stopped glowing. I watched her for a few minutes without shame. I did, however, pretend to be examining a sign on the nearby building. Her body moved fluidly, even her dark blue hair went in time with the rest. The only thing slightly behind the rest was her bust. It giggled with every bounce and step. As I looked closer I could see that she had a very rounded rear as well. Thinking back to how normal night elf female characters looked, I thought this was a very nice upgrade. After I drank in my fill, I walked out into the clearing. I looked around and spotted a small dummy, deciding that would be a good place to start. After all, I didn’t even know if I could use my magic. So, at very least, I could punch it a little. I stared at it for a minute before realizing things weren’t going anywhere. I raised out my hand, looking at it. I flexed it, trying to concentrate some sort of magic. To my surprise, my hand started to glow. Unsure of what spell I was starting, I raised my hand towards the dummy. After a second or two, the glow faded, and gold sparkles surrounded the dummy for an instant before fading. Music sounded out from behind me. Oh, wait. It was the night elf. I had mistaken her laughter for music. She giggled for another second before asking, “Did you just heal the dummy?” I looked at my hand, and back at her. It took a second to register, but she had actually spoken to me. Feeling blush rise up in my face, I said “Maybe?” She giggled again. She turned her head to the dummy she had just filled with arrows and whistled. The panther immediately stopped attacking and ran to her side, barely panting once it reached her. “Well, it looked like it. What’s your name?” I blinked once or twice. Or ten times. Hard to keep track of time with someone who’s voice can put me to sleep. “My name’s…. Quill.” Shit, I almost said ‘my’ name. I’m Quill now, or at least in his body. So, that’s who I am. After mentally kicking myself, I thought for a bit. If I am Quill, who does he know? The banker knew me, so I’m sure other people do too. Are the people on my friends list friends in the game too? I smiled at the thought of forcing my character to be friends with someone he hated. Leaning on her bow, she smiled cheerfully. I almost melted. “Nice to meet you Quill. I’m Kyli.” Awkward silence. I was never good with new people, let alone extremely hot girls that I thought only existed in games and my fantasies. After cocking an eyebrow, she nodded towards the dummy. “So, why are you practicing on the little dummy? You seem strong enough to tackle the bigger ones.” My mind raced as I thought of some excuse to save me. “I… well, you see, I can’t seem to remember how to use my magic, and so I thought I’d start slow.” Not the whole truth, but she doesn’t need to think I’m crazy. Crazier, I should say. The elf blinked once. Twice. Then she laughed. She laughed loudly, actually falling on her bum and rolling in the grass. Her bow and pet lying on the side, she laughed until she began crying. I simply stood there, dumbfounded. My god, how can anyone have such a beautiful voice? I couldn’t even tell she was laughing if I didn’t see it. After a minute or two, she slowed to a stop, getting up on one knee before standing, albeit shaking. She wiped her eyes before saying “Oh… that’s a good one. I haven’t laughed like that in ages…” I could only stare. How would she react if she knew it wasn’t a joke? “Wait, you are joking right?” Oh, I guess that’s how. She looked very confused, and leaned on her bow, staring at me. “Do you have amnesia or something?” I nodded quickly. “Yea, you could say that.” Her eyes filled with sympathy. “Oh, I’m sorry; I didn’t know you were serious! I’m so sorry! I feel so ba-” I raised a hand, stopping her mid-sentence. “It’s fine, really.” She still looked doubtful. I rolled my eyes. “Here, I’ll forgive you if you help me out, ok?” She nodded slowly. I can’t believe in my first half hour of being sucked into a game world I managed to befriend the hottest humanoid creature I’ve ever seen. Hardly able to believe my luck, I motioned towards the dummy. “Do you know how to cast a spell?” She nodded, raising her hands. They quickly started to glow green, and after two seconds the glow magnified, and her eyes went blank. Suddenly, her pet woke up from the nap it had fallen into. It looked up at me and charged, pouncing on top of me and pinning me to the ground. I asked if she could, not to show me! I thought. What is this, the new ‘Sick Pet on Human’ spell? The panther bared its teeth, and I could feel it’s hot breath washing over me. Closing me eyes, I feared the worse. It licked me. Getting off of me soon after, I heard the same musical giggle. The elf had a hand over her mouth, trying to silence herself, but her blush gave her away. The panther gave her a dirty look (Can large cats do that?) before returning to her side, lying down once more. Looking between the two, I realized she had used “Eyes of the Beast”, a spell once used for hunters to control their pets manually. I sat up, looking at her with a bemused expression. “A simple yes would have done wonders.” She giggled again, blushing even more. I got up, brushing off my robes and standing up straight. As much as it surprised me, falling with a large cat on top of my barely hurt at all. And the pain vanished rather quickly. “Well, as funny as that was…” Another giggle. “I’d like to know how you did that.” She looked thoughtful for a moment before raising a finger in inspiration. “Well, if you know a spell, all you have to do is think about it and concentrate. Since you used a healing spell, I’m guessing you do know how to do it, you just weren’t thinking of any spell in particular. So try that.” I nodded. It seemed logical. I turned towards the dummy and raised my hand. I thought, SHADOW WORD: PAIN (In bold capital letters, yes). A black aura surrounded my hand for a moment. When it vanished, it surrounded the dummy. And when it vanished from the dummy, nothing happened. I turned back to the elf. “What did-" I paused for a moment. Pulling my eyes away from her boobs, “What did that do?” She simply pointed at the dummy. Looking back, my eyes widened in surprise. Pieces of the dummy were darkening until they were completely black, falling as if it were dust moments later. Within ten seconds, the dummy was a pile of ash. I can’t believe I just did that. I looked back at her, a nervous expression on my face. “Um… sorry… I, uh…” She giggled again. God damn woman, stop that. “Don’t worry.” She assured me. “The dummies are enchanted. It’ll come back in a moment or two. True to her words, the dummy reformed itself in a matter of moments. Interested in how my first spell came out, I tried another. I concentrated on my magic, SHADOW WORD: DEATH. I actually jumped when it happened. Two prongs of shadow appeared to the left and right of the dummy, two feet above it. They quickly curved down into its center, and the dummy exploded. I raised a hand to cover my face, shielding myself from wood chips and debris. The night elf began clapping softly. “Well done. It seems you haven’t forgotten as much as you thought.” I looked at her and smiled, thoughts racing through my head. I’m in a video game. I’m talking to the hottest female I’ve ever seen. And I can blow stuff up. Yeah. Shit just got real. Two hours and many, many dummies later… “Very good. Those dummies never stood a chance.” As worn out as I was, I had to chuckle at the elf’s joke. I realized through my training that I could, indeed feel my mana. The more spells I cast in a row, the more drained I felt. I had just cast spell after spell until I simply couldn’t muster the energy anymore. My mana regenerated relatively quickly, but in the meantime I felt exhausted. About halfway through my training, the elf had joined in, shooting down whatever dummies I hadn’t destroyed. She had even taken a few out of the ground with a single arrow. Now, we were both resting on the ground, her panther and bow on her left side while I was on her right. It was while I was thinking of her I realized. She had become my first friend in this world. “Thank you.” I said, feeling my energy return with each passing moment. She looked at my, confusion evident on her face. “Pardon?” I smiled at her. “Thank you for helping me. I don’t know what I would have done without you, Kyli.” She blushed, looking to the side. No way this elf has a crush on me. No. Way. “You’re welcome, Quill.” She looked back at me, her face still red. The sun was starting to set, and orange light peered through the entryway to the training area. Her eyes closed slightly, and she started to lean towards me. I did the same, hardly believing my luck. And here I was thinking romantic scenes like this only happened in movies and video games… Oh wait.
