After a quick breakfast, Joker flew the Normandy toward the Eagle Nebula, and three hours later the ship had passed through the Imir mass relay. Nearly a million tons of debris floated in the space around Korlus, encircling the planet like the gaseous rings of Saturn.
"Welcome to the galaxy's most famous junk yard," Joker said, as the world came into view in the Normandy's cockpit, "when ships get too old or too damaged, they're stripped of any useful parts and dumped on places like this. Understandably, no one really likes living here unless they've got no other choice. Good place for the Blue Suns to hide, though. Lots of secluded areas."
"The quarians leave their murderers and rapists on places like this," Jacob added. "They don't have the resources to support a prison population, so the worst offenders get dropped off here to fend for themselves. It's basically a death sentence. The gangs have no use for quarians, so most of them don't survive longer than a week."
Rose donned her helmet and adjusted the biotic amplifiers on her wrist-guards. When she spoke, it was through the helmet's microphone. "The dossier doesn't specify if Okeer's working with the Blue Suns voluntarily. Assume hostiles."
The ship dropped Shepard, Miranda and Jacob off in the middle of the planet's largest junkyard before leaving to cloak itself within the debris field. As the trio made their way closer and closer to the ancient recycling plant at the center of the junkyard, the familiar sounds of conflict rang out through the air.
"Bullets flying already," Jacob remarked, "catching them off-guard might not be an option."
A harsh voice blared from the rusty intercom system. "There is only one measure of success," the voice screamed, "KILL OR BE KILLED! Perfection is your goal!"
"Broadcasting orders over a loudspeaker?" Miranda muttered. "Charming."
"I take it that's the local Blue Suns rep?" Shepard asked.
Jacob nodded. "Up-and-comer named Jedore. She's a colony kid who got booted out of the Alliance for conduct unbecoming, found her way to Omega, and joined up with the Blue Suns."
"Being hired is only the beginning!" Jedore screeched. "You must EARN your place in the mighty army we are building!"
Miranda rolled her eyes in response. "Who does she think she is, Genghis Khan?"
"Quiet!" Rose hissed, "Someone's ahead!"
They ducked behind a wall and waited silently until what seemed like a massive firefight broke out in the area ahead. Peering around the wall, Rose could see 4 of the Blue Suns firing frantically at an unseen target while another of their recruits lay lifeless near a railing, his neck broken so badly it looked like he'd been hit by a truck. It wasn't clear what the other Suns were firing at, but the guttural roars and echoes of its footsteps suggested it was big, and probably not human.
As quickly as it had started, the firing slowed to a halt, and after a few tense seconds, they decided it was safe to move out and examine the damage. Most of the battle seemed to have taken place on a stairway leading up to the recycling plant ---- bodies were strewn across the steps, with bones jutting out at odd angles. Near the top of the stairs lay the still warm body of the enemy the Blue Suns had gone up against.
It was a krogan; that much was clear. But its headplate was underdeveloped, suggesting it was not yet an adult --- and yet it was as large as some of the most formidable adult krogan Shepard had ever seen. She nudged its arm with her foot to make sure it was dead, just as someone groaned around the corner.
“H-hey, can I get some help here?”
One of the Blue Suns was still alive, crouched against a wall as he clutched his side. The look on his face made it obvious that he was glad to see other humans, which wasn’t surprising after the fight he’d just been through. He couldn’t have been older than 25, and it was clear that the battle with the krogan had woke him up to just how in over his head he was. The fingers covering his wound were slick with blood, and he groaned as he shifted them to reveal the extent of the damage.
“Any of you got some medi-gel? Damn krogan’s ricochet got me in the gut…..”
“Doesn’t look that bad, actually,” Jacob whispered, just loud enough for his companions to hear. “Flesh wound at best.”
“He doesn’t need to know that,” Rose whispered back.
She leaned over the surviving mercenary and adjusted the controls on her armor’s wrist-guard, opening it up to reveal a canister of medi-gel. The merc’s eyes gleamed at the sight. “Yeah, that’s the stuff….”
“Not so fast,” Rose interjected. “You’re going to answer some questions first.”
“Oh, come on!” he yelled. “I’m dying over here! And Jedore’s gonna kill me anyway if she finds out I talked to anyone.”
“The way I see it, you have two choices here,” Rose said. “One: you answer my questions, take your medi-gel, and then run as far as you can. Maybe Jedore won’t find you, maybe she will. That’s up to you. Two: you clam up, and we leave you to bleed to death in this junkyard. And if you think the Blue Suns are going to take your body back for a funeral on your homeworld, you’ve got another thing coming. They’ll leave you here for the scavengers.”
“Ok, ok,” the man gasped, squirming from the pain. “What do you wanna know, anyway?”
Rose smiled. “Good choice. What’s Okeer doing here?”
The merc exhaled deeply as he began his confession. “In the Blue Suns, you’ve gotta do something to really stand out if you want to rise up. Jedore had the bright idea of making a krogan army for the Suns; perfect shock troops, you know? Problem is, most krogan won’t work for any outfit other than the Blood Pack.” He shifted in his place and held his wound tighter. “So she decided she’d make her own krogan.”
Shepard squeezed the bridge of her nose in frustration. After Virmire, she’d hoped to never see anything like that again……”And that’s where Okeer comes in? He’s making krogan clones for Jedore, isn’t he?”
“Yeah,” the man replied. “But his clones were messed up. Mentally, I mean. The first batch had depression issues --- offed themselves any way they could, one by one. The second batch were all too dumb to figure out how to hold a gun, so Jedore got rid of them herself. The third batch,” he groaned, his gaze shifting to the medi-gel held just out of reach, “were the worst. Wouldn’t listen to anyone’s orders, and they just wanted to kill anything they could find. No way we could put them down.”
“So they broke out?” Miranda asked.
“No, Okeer set ‘em loose. He and Jedore got into this big fight about all the failures. She threatened to turn him in to some merc band on Tuchanka that’s been on the lookout for him. That’s when he decided to terminate his employment. Locked himself into his lab and released all the clones, figuring they’d be enough to kill us all off.”
Jacob looked around at the collection of corpses. “I’d say he figured right.”
“That’s everything I know. I swear!” the merc pleaded. “Now can I get some medi-gel?”
Rose detached the canister from her wrist-guard, and rolled it to the side of the stair-case, several feet away from the bleeding merc. “Knock yourself out.”
The man lunged forward, crawling on his belly inch by inch, all dignity forgotten as he scrambled toward the life-saving canister. Shepard, Jacob and Miranda left him behind as they proceeded toward the recycling plant.
“Was that entirely necessary, Commander?” Miranda asked, clearly amused.Rose shrugged. “Probably not. But it felt good.”

Meanwhile, the rachni followed the trio from a distance, careful to maintain its invisibility at all times. The Normandy’s air vent network had been dry and cool --- the perfect place for the creature to rest for a few hours and conserve energy. In the early hours of the morning, it had managed to sneak into the pantry and steal some of Mess Sergeant Gardner’s food reserves. The crumbs strewn across the vents would confound the cleaners who eventually discovered them.
It could sense the emotions of the humans on the ship through a mild telepathic intrusion; a melody that hummed at the back of their minds, one they could not detect, but would not interfere with their own thoughts. The rachni could sense a spike in emotions as the Normandy drew closer to Korlus, and it was intrigued. It cloaked itself and wandered into the CIC, searching for the source of the disturbance. And that was when it saw her.
Mating with Commander Shepard --- bonding its mind to hers --- had given the creature an appetite for human females, and the one standing near the docking bay was a fantastic example of that group. Her scent aroused its animal instincts. From first sight, the rachni knew she would be next. But she was surrounded by armed soldiers 24/7. How could it get her on her own?
It followed Shepard, Jacob and Miranda out through the docking bay when the Normandy arrived on Korlus, unseen and unheard, the constant whirring of the recycling plant’s machinery masking the skittering of its feet against the ground. When the trio stopped to talk to a wounded merc, the rachni hid behind a corner, waiting for its chance to find Miranda secluded from the others. But a few minutes later, they left the merc behind and continued together.Still, there was nothing to do but bide its time and wait.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Five minutes after the encounter with the surviving merc, the trio found themselves at the entrance of the old recycling plant the Blue Suns had repurposed for Okeer’s experiments. The only problem was that the few schematics they had were several centuries old, and they had no idea where exactly Okeer was. Two paths lay ahead of them, and they weren’t sure which one was the right way.
“EDI, any advice?”
“The facility’s walls are lined with heavy metals from centuries of processing, Commander,” the AI replied, “Scanning is proving difficult. However, once you take your omni-tools deeper into the plant, I should be able to extend my influence to the VI at the core.”
Miranda examined the old schematics on her omni-tool. “Both paths seem to eventually lead to the same point. But there are a lot of rooms along each way.”
“And Okeer could be in any one of them,” Jacob mused, “We should split up. Cover more ground that way.”
“Good idea,” Rose said. “I’ll take the left. You two go right.”
There wasn’t an immediate response to her suggestion, save for the awkward expressions on the faces of the other two. “Something on your minds?”
“All due respect, Shepard,” Jacob began, “but you only woke up a few days ago. Going solo might be reckless until we’re sure you’re back to 100%.”
“I did just fine against that YMIR mech on Freedom’s Progress,” Rose pointed out, “and we’ll have the advantage of surprise inside the facility. The krogan and the Blue Suns will all be too busy killing each other anyway. On the off-chance they notice us, you two will need someone to cover each other’s backs.”
“And you won’t?” Miranda asked, arching her eyebrows.
Rose grinned, rapping the spot on her shoulder that was now filled with metal in place of bone. “I’m the one with the kick-ass enhancements, remember?”
Miranda looked at Jacob, searching for a reason to offer as a counter, but Jacob merely shrugged in response. “Hey, I’m not gonna second-guess Shepard. If she says she’s ready, she’s ready.”Miranda sighed. “Alright, then. Stay in radio-contact.”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The rachni grew excited as it observed the group detach, with Miranda and Jacob moving away from Shepard. Clinging to the walls, it followed the two Cerberus operatives down their path, watching as they searched a series of rooms for the krogan warlord, executing enemy combatants everywhere they found them.If Miranda entered a room by herself, the rachni was sure it could operate the rudimentary controls to lock her inside with it. But the two were careful to enter and leave at the same time, ensuring they couldn’t be caught by surprise from any direction. It was proving to be incredibly frustrating for the creature, though for the moment, it was still content to wait.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile, Shepard’s path was nearly deserted. The battle raging through the facility had already passed through this route, and the few occupants she found in the rooms were already dead. Fortunately, searching the rooms wasn’t quite as boring as she had initially suspected, as it gave her the perfect opportunity to test her new capabilities.
Within a single minute, she’d already searched nearly a dozen rooms. The technology lining her nerves and bones allowed her to move faster than even the most capable human could, and unbeknownst to her, the rachni genetic material was helping as well, even if she didn’t remember she’d been pumped full of it. The alien race’s strange sensory perceptions were compatible with her brain chemistry, giving her an uncanny, subconscious sense of life in her surroundings. After spending just a second or so inside a room, her intuition kicked in and she knew if someone was hiding in a corner or not.
After searching through what felt like an endless series of rooms, she came to a halt in a makeshift lab. From the minute she entered the room, warning sirens blared in her head, and she cocked her gun ahead of her before stepping forward. Standing perfectly still, she examined her surroundings carefully, until her helmet’s sound-capture system zeroed in on someone’s heavy breathing.
Rose took aim at the source of the sound, firing a single warning shot at the wall behind a hospital bed near the corner. A panicked yelp rang out as the wall spat out pieces of metal from the bullet’s impact. “Come out with your hands in the air!” she ordered.
“Shepard?” the voice asked, confusion mixing in with fear.
The asari who emerged from behind the bed was vaguely familiar, even while terrified and barely able to speak.
“Face the wall! Now!”
“Don’t shoot! It’s me!” she squealed, pressing her forehead against the cold metal wall and praying the Commander would recognize her.
“Hold on, I know you from somewhere.” Rose frowned, trying to recollect where she’d seen the asari maiden. “Raina something, right? From Virmire?”
“Rana,” she corrected, “Rana Thanoptis, and yes, we met on Virmire.”
“Where you were helping Saren,” Rose remembered. “Not exactly a point in your favor. Wild guess says you’re not on the side of the angels this time either.”
“I’m not on anyone’s side,” Rana retorted. “Can you please point that gun somewhere else?”
Shepard kept the gun aimed square at the back of Rana’s head, not missing a beat. “Not sure I should. Who are you working for?”
“Okeer, of course,” the asari replied. “His techniques are revolutionary. In a few more years, he could perfect krogan cloning. No flaws or kinks in the genetic makeup. Even Saren’s clones only survived a year!” Her breathing grew heavy as excitement replaced terror. “Can you imagine? My name attached to an achievement like that?”
“Sorry to disappoint, but you’re going to have to wait a while longer for your big break,” Rose said, fishing for her omni-cuffs. “We’re shutting this lab down, and I’m taking you in for questioning.”
“Me? What did I do?” Rana exclaimed.
“Unfortunately for you, I don’t believe in coincidences. You were on Virmire, and now you’re here. You’re up to something, Thanoptis, and I’m going to find out what. We’ll hold you on the Normandy while my people do some digging. If it comes up clean, we’ll drop you off on Thessia with an apology.”
A bead of sweat ran down Rana’s pretty young face. She couldn’t go back to Thessia. There was still an outstanding warrant for her arrest; in her reckless youth, she’d stolen specimens from half a dozen different research facilities for private experiments that even batarians would have flinched at. And in the current political climate, if anyone found out she’d once worked for Saren, they’d probably lock her up and toss the key down the drain.
“Put your hands behind your back,” Shepard ordered.
There was only way out. “I really am sorry about this!” Rana yelled, spinning around and firing a bolt of biotic energy at the Commander. But Shepard’s reflexes were faster now, and she was able to counter with a biotic bolt of her own. The two beams met mid-air, forming a chain of energy that connected the two women. Both pressed forward, struggling to push the combined beams at the other, each unsure if they could win.
Rose knew she was the stronger biotic. But she was fighting in a new body that wasn’t completely used to the strain of biotic combat yet, while Rana had nearly a hundred and eighty years of that experience. A strain she hadn’t felt since she was a little girl telekinetically tossing bottles through the air began to exert itself on her nervous system, and Rana knew she had the upper hand. She pushed harder, driving the beams closer to Rose.
“Just give up,” she pleaded. “You’ll pass out and I’ll leave, and we never need to see each other again. No one has to get hurt.”
The adrenaline was pumping through Rose’s veins, its maddening tempo resounding around the inside of her skull. She could feel a primal, animalistic rage begin to build in her gut, working its way up through her chest, beating in time with her heart. “Not…going….to….happen!” she snarled, throwing every ounce of strength she could muster into her will.
It proved to be enough. The ball of biotic energy collided with Rana’s chest, lifting her off her feet immediately. For a long second she hovered in the air, like a marionette whose strings had just been cut, before hurtling into the wall. One loud thump later, she slumped to the floor, dazed and barely conscious.
But just as one battle ended, another had begun. The feral surge of adrenaline that had possessed Commander Shepard was snaking its way through her brain, overwhelming her senses; the explosion of violent emotion made her feel as if someone had shoved her head under burning hot water. Stumbling to her knees, she gripped the side of the bed tightly, trying to breath as she wondered what was happening to her. Was Jacob right? Was this happening because she'd been too cocky, too sure she was back at 100%?
The reality of her situation was drastically different. The sudden, powerful rush of adrenaline had triggered something dormant within her. The rachni's genetic material, pooled within her womb, was active again, spreading through her veins and muscles, reshaping her from the inside out. A strange alien melody was playing at the back of her mind --- she'd heard it somewhere before, but she just couldn't place it ---- and Rose gasped as she felt her nethers start to tingle and burn. There was something coming out of her.
"Armor: detach!" she screamed, and her Terminus armor popped open to let her squeeze free of her protective confines. Now sprawled on the floor in a skintight jumpsuit, she could see the fabric of the suit stretch at her crotch as the thing rushing out of her vagina pressed against it. What terrified her even more than not knowing what was happening, was the feeling of the thing --- like it wasn't just pulling loose of her, but was actually of her, extending from her skin. She yanked down her pants to see what it was, and immediately regretted doing so.
Where her vagina used to be, there was now a thick, erect penis. It was unlike any human cock she'd ever seen --- dark grey, with prominent blue veins lining its surface, it was more akin to a horse's organ. As thick as her forearm, and almost as long, it hovered in the air, gently throbbing as her blood rushed through the new vessels.
Shepard wanted to pinch herself and be assured that this was just a bizarre dream, that she'd never set foot on Korlus, that she was still asleep in her bed, or perhaps still dead on the operating table. But she knew this was real, and she could feel her throat grow dry and tight as panic set in. Was this some sick joke Cerberus had played on her? But why? Or was this some unforeseen side-effect of all the things they'd placed in her to bring her back? She gingerly placed her fingertips on the head of her new cock, as if to make sure it were real, and as her fingers brushed against the head, she felt a tingle of pleasure surge down the shaft and through her body.
Once the signal reached her brain, the tingle grew and grew until it was a maddening roar for release, and Rose gasped again as she felt lust, raw and uncontrollable, spread through her body. She groaned as the cock began to grow warmer, and more engorged, like a red-hot rod that would burst if not cooled down.
It was around that moment when her eyes began to wander, almost without her knowing, to Rana's stirring form.
The asari's head was still pounding from the force of the impact she'd suffered minutes ago, and when she finally managed to crack her eyes open, the first sight in front of her was Shepard, crouched over her body so close she could almost feel her breathing.
"I surrender," she croaked, before noticing the Commander's enormous cock lying flat against her stomach. "Goddess, what is that ---"
"Shut up," Rose growled, grabbing hold of the asari's head and pulling her face closer for a hungry kiss. There wasn't a word to describe how unspeakably horny she had become. The only thought left in her head was to find some way to appease the urgent ache in her cock, and Rana --- with the smooth skin, delicate features and incredibe body common to her species --- was the quickest way available. For her part, Rana clutched Rose's shoulders, attempting to push her away at first, but as the Commander's lips pressed against hers, their tongues exploring each other's mouths, the pheromones in Shepard's saliva made her head light, driving away all thoughts of resistance and replacing them with the most basic of biological instincts.
By the time their lips parted, Rana's slim hands were wrapped around the cock, her deep blue eyes staring into Rose's green ones. They both knew what was coming next, and Rana trembled with anticipation. Rose was not quite as enthusiastic, breaking into a cold sweat as she realized she was inches away from cheating on Liara. She couldn't do this. She didn't want to do this.... did she? With every passing second, it became harder to be sure, until she couldn't hold out any longer. It didn't help matters that Rana wore exactly the same scientist's coat that Liara did.
"Turn around," she whispered, pulling the asari to her feet. Rana dutifully obeyed, and when her back was turned, Rose pressed down and bent her over the side of the hospital bed. Fumbling frantically as her cock ached more and more, she yanked down the asari's pants, running her shaking fingers across Rana's flesh. Her pussy felt warm and wet to the touch...
Without warning, she lurched forward and slipped the tip of her cock past Rana's labia, eliciting a soft "Oh!" from the asari as she felt her womanhood envelop the intruder. Rose moaned in relief as she immersed her log in Rana's slick, warm folds; it felt like dipping a red-hot rod in the snow, and she knew she needed more. Slowly pushing forward, she savored the feeling of every inch disappearing inside Rana, while the asari scientist gripped the bed's sheets and tried to spread her legs as wide as possible to accommodate Shepard. When the cock was fully sheathed inside her, Rana's toes hovered inches away from the floor, the massive organ inside her propping her up against the bed.
Shepard's bare hips were pressed tight against Rana's quivering flesh, and as the asari moaned for more, the Commander began operating by instinct. She'd never been on this side of a cock before, but it wasn't hard to figure out. Retracting out a few inches, she plunged back in, rocking her hips back and forth, letting the thick meat tantalize every sweet spot within Rana's wet hole. Her skin was glazed with a thin layer of sweat; a stray drop or two would occasionally drip down from her forehead and trickle down the curve of Rana's firm bottom.
Rocked back and forth by Rose's intense fucking, Rana could only manage stutters and gasps, mixed with the primal moans of a female in the throes of her heat, a common trait in all species. Every thrust into her depths pushed her closer and closer to bliss, but she'd become too used to a rougher variety of sexual partners to really get off on it. "H-harder, Shepard!" she begged. She squealed as her wish was granted. Rose began thrusting with as much speed and force as her lust-addled brain could muster, and the room resonated with the sound of human flesh smacking against asari. Shepard herself was bent forward know, her lips grazing against Rana's neck as her breasts pressed down on her back. This was her first time with a cock, and the pulsing pleasure surging up and down the length of her organ was proof of it.
Rana could sense it too, accompanied as it was by the ache for release from her own nethers. The rational scientist in her had long since taken a backseat to the whore who needed to feel Shepard's seed planted inside her. "Em-embrace....nyaahh.." she moaned, trying to find her words in the midst of her ecstasy. "Embrace eternity!"
A familiar tapestry of pleasure erupted inside Rose's mind as it melded with Rana's, each gifting their ecstasy to the other. Their memories were open to each other, but Rose was too lost in her sensations to notice; Rana, on the other hand, was more used to this, and began peeling back the layers of Shepard's thought. The most recent of her memories seemed to be locked away from Rose herself somehow, and Rana decided to take a look....
"Goddess," she whispered, shocked at the memory laid before her, of the night in her new cabin that Rose could not remember. "It can't be..."
Meanwhile, the cycle of mutual enjoined lust rapidly took its toll on Rose's endurance, and when her final thrust left her fully sheathed inside Rana's pussy, she groaned and began to fire out jets of hot cum, painting the walls of the asari's womb with rachni seed. Rana, now aware of Shepard's secret, giddily accepted her gift, gyrating her hips against Rose's lap to coax more and more out of her. With her pussy plugged up like a bath-tub drain, cum began to leak out of the sides, dripping down her thighs and onto the floor.
When the last drop of semen had passed, Rose collapsed back on the floor, her cock slowly going back down to seven inches. Rana was still bent over the bed, one hand over her belly, her lustful satisfaction matched only by ambitious glee. She'd thought krogan cloning was her ticket to scientific glory ---- but now, somehow, an extinct species that hadn't been seen in nearly 2000 years was growing inside her, and when it came out, it was going to be hers to study. Hers to research. Hers to bask in the glory for.
But none of that was going to be realized if she got arrested before that. Scrambling to her feet, she pulled up her pants and gathered her research logs, just as a still-shellshocked Rose tried to gather herself off the floor. With a final apologetic look, Rana ran out of the lab as quickly as she could.
Three more minutes passed before Shepard could shakily pull herself back up, and the first thing she did was verify that the cock was still there, swinging between her legs. This wasn't some kind of waking nightmare, and if Cerberus had done this to her, she shuddered to think of what else they might have done while she was on the operating table. Almost on cue, she heard the buzz of voices from her discarded armor's headset.
"........that's the second time I've tried, she's not responding....."
"Check the schematics, there might be a shortcut to the route she took..."
"Dammit, Jacob, I knew she wasn't ready yet, one of us should have gone with her....."
She hastily grabbed her helmet and stuck it back on, speaking directly into the comm system. "This is Shepard, what's your position?"
A brief pause filled the gap before Miranda's answer, her voice angry and relieved at the same time. "What the hell happened? You went radio-silent."
"Uh, krogan attack," Rose lied, "three of them were waiting in ambush. One punched my helmet, must have shaken my comms loose. They just started up again."
"You took out three krogan by yourself?" Jacob's incredulous voice asked.
"Yeah, I can't stress enough how much you guys should congratulate yourselves on those enhancements," Rose replied, making up the story as she suited back into her armor. "Where are you now?"
"At the end of your path, there's a long stairway that leads up to the fourth floor. EDI hacked the VI and checked for bio-signatures. Okeer's on that floor, but so is Jedore."
Rose checked the schematics on her omni-tool. "If I run, I can make it there in 2 minutes."
"Then run."

The rachni had lost it way while following Jacob and Miranda. They'd turned left while it turned right, and all of a sudden it found itself in another part of the facility entirely. Blindly following the path ahead, it found a barely-functional elevator that led to a storage room on the fourth floor. But this room didn't store arms or ammunition. Three tanks stood shoulder-to-shoulder in the middle of the room, each one containing one of Okeer's few surviving clones.
Miranda was an option that would have to wait, because the creature now saw a new way to continue its resurrection of the rachni. Skittering over to the side of the lack, it found an enormous vessel that fed the three tanks with the artificial amniotic fluid that kept the clones alive inside. Leaning over the side of the vessel, it began dripping a strange venom from its maw....
