Luigi walked down to the dining hall to get his breakfast, only to be stopped by Pit, a fellow competitor in the smash brothers arena.
"Hey, Luigi! How did you manage to get in bed with Samus after just the first date? She's normally so uptight!"
Luigi quickly realized what things looked like, and failed to keep his composure to explain what actually happened.
"Uhh... I didn't get in bed with her... we were just talking last night after we ran into each other in the hallway." Luigi replied, telling a small white lie that sounded more realistic than the truth. Who would believe that he managed to accidentally walk into Samus's room when no one was around, and walk out unharmed?
"Then why did you look so flustered? You looked exhausted, like you just had sex with someone!" Pit retaliated, annoying Luigi.
Luigi failed to come up with a counterpoint that went in line with his previous statement, and instead tried to turn the tables on Pit. "You're one to talk about exhaustion from sex, how would an innocent little angel like you have experience like that?"
Pit lost it at that accusation, but refused to tell how he had such experience and simply left Luigi alone. However, a good 5 other smashers overheard the conversation.
At breakfast, Luigi was confronted several other times, and Samus wondered what was going on, not out of concern for Luigi necessarily, but moreso pure curiosity. Samus asked Peach and heard about the rumors that were being spread, of Luigi and Samus sleeping together. Samus decided to do some more research before accusing Luigi of spreading these rumors, considering how scared he was about ruining their relationship last night.
Samus chose Mario as her next consultant, as he likely wouldn't have anything against Luigi attempting to start some relationship with Samus, so he wouldn't try to twist the truth, and he is related to Luigi so he would know him well.
"Hey Mario, are you familiar with the rumors going around about me and Luigi sleeping together?" Samus asked, having faith in Mario to not question her about asking something so personal as suddenly as she did.
"Yea, I've heard, and I don't believe them, although I've yet to talk to Luigi about it myself. He's better than that, he's shy and nervous, so even if he sucked up the courage to ask you out on a date he would probably faint on the spot if he saw you naked. Though tell me, are the rumors true?"
Samus replies after considering how she should take that comment about Luigi seeing her naked, "Yes, to an extent. He claims that he woke up in the middle of the night to come talk to you about something, so he walked down the hall in the dark and estimated where he was, and walked into a room he thought was yours, and then turned on the lamp and saw me. When I confronted him, he fainted, you're right, he does faint easy." Samus says with a chuckle.
"So what happened after that?" Mario asked, curious how Samus treated his brother.
"Well, I grabbed a set of day clothes so that he didn't get overwhelmed by seeing me in my relatively revealing pajamas while I was talking to him, and changed in the bathroom while he was unconscious. Then I shook him awake and asked him what he was doing. He gave me the first half of the story I told you, so then I let him off the hook and walked him out of my room." Samus explained.
"Well, I think you made the right decision, walking in the dark sounds like a mistake Luigi would make, even though he probably had a reason to take the risk. Did you talk to him about walking into other people's rooms without permission?" Mario asked, concerned about his brother's manners.
"Yes, he took it rather well." Samus replied, surprised that she was defending Luigi, maybe she was developing some feelings for the clumsy plumber. "No, you barely know him! You don't have to shove him away but you're getting ahead of yourself Samus! Let him prove himself before you start thinking about this as a dedicated relationship." Samus thought to herself.
"Ok, well, I think all of the problems with what Luigi did are solved, you didn't punish him for his mistake and he says he's going to improve on it, now to shut down these rumors." Mario said, not wanting the rumors to continue to change the other smashers's perception of Luigi, and more importantly, Samus, because if the rumors kept up she might blame and punish Luigi.
"Yea, I agree, I'll leave that to you though because I feel like it will look suspicious if I try to stop these rumors myself." Samus said, hoping she didn't just sound lazy and inconsiderate.
"Oh, don't worry I can handle it, I can talk to Luigi as well to see if he knows who started the rumors." Mario said, willing to take on the challenge of spreading new information to at least 60 other smashers.
"Thanks Mario!" Samus said with a wink.
