I am am so happy to have already gotten amazing advice and input on the story from people, thank you! Already I feel this has been an amazing use of my time and creativity, I'm having so much fun writing! Welp, this chapter is gonna be a blended 3rd/2nd person POV/ Triss's POV/ Time will be... a time after Dandelion freed Triss from the bed in the morning.
Chapter 3- Contemplation, in it's cruelest form. I AM SORRY, I ACCIDENTLY UPLOADED Ch.2 TWICE! I fixed the problem! I'll have the next chapter out sooner than I said I would as compensation!
Triss had woken up that morning, cuffed to a bed, next to Yen... (A/N Now remember, there was wine involved that night, and (Que Regis voice) as I am sure you know, Triss Merigold does not handle wine too well...) "How the hell did I end up cuffed to a be... Ohhhhh, we got put in our place, that's right. Well, I suppose I should be thankful that Geralt didn't take out nearly as much of his frustration on me, as he did on Yen... Well it was her plan after all, and she deserved far worse than what she got last night from Geralt, for treating him like shit for years and treating him like a pet. Now don't get me wrong, I was pissed off (I only got there AFTER Yen came to me and made it sound so bad) that Geralt was double timing us, but not for the reason Yen was though... I was pissed off because of the fact I was STILL in the position of *#2,* as I so self endearingly put it. Whereas Yen was pissed because of her stupid pride, the idea that she was still having to share, or more accurately that she wasn't having full reign of her pet 100% of the time... Ate her up something fierce." That was the end of Triss's train of thought because at that moment the door opened, and Dandelion stepped in the room. Now Triss actually had her clothes on, grant it not very many... But still far more than Yen, "Oh I can just imagine how much Yennefer is fuming right now!"
"Hello ladies," Triss hear Dandelion say from the door. "He's really taking in the view... "Smart man, he'll never have the opportunity again!" Triss thought to herself.
He then walked over to Triss after a few moments, he uncuffed her and released her from the bed. "So Geralt really did tell him to come in and get us, thank you." Triss imagined that Dandelion uncuffed her first because he dare not uncuff Yen first, he'll probably just throw the key at her then run for his life!" Triss thought with an internal smile that didn't show on the outside. "Well now I need to start working toward fixing my standings, and more importantly how on earth she is going to go about apologizing to Geralt. Dammit" She thought to herself with a sad look. "Thank you," she said to Dandelion.
"You're welcome, My Lady. Should you need somewhere to stay, there you can always stay at the Rosemary, free of charge."
"Well I don't have anywhere to stay, I'm gonna have to cache in that offer..." She thought.
"Thank you Dandelion, I really need somewhere to stay, or at least gather my thoughts."
"The room you ussd last time, while you were looking for the Lodge, is freshly cleaned and vacant. You can stay there, if you want. I'd offer you the Ruby, but it's taken up by a friend."
"Hmm, I wonder who... Dandelion has many acquaintances, but not many dear friends... Hmm." Triss thought quickly, then soft said: "Thank you, I am very grateful." Then opened a portal to the room, and stepped through.
When Triss exited the portal, she just walked to the bed, wrapped the duvet around herself and sobbed...
Several hours later-
Triss had cried for hours until she finally fell asleep, drained of tears and energy. When she finally awoke, it was getting dark outside, Triss knew that she needed to reflect, and get up... But she didn't care about the later, nor did feel like getting up.
"I am such a stupid girl... Why did I agree to that plan? Anything good VERY rarely ever comes from working with Yen, especially when it involves Geralt. She must have messed with my mind, I would never agree to such a cruel plan to hurt Geralt. No, I sacrificed far too much to be with him, far too long did I yearn for his love, for his touch, to be the one that he calls 'love.' How could I be so STUPID? He was unmistakable, he told me we were done... Well that ends that, he truly is far out of my reach now. Good job Triss, everything you've ever wanted is ruined now, congratulations. I concede his love, I don't give a shit what he said, he was a lot less rough to me then he was to Yen last night... Maybe he wants me to come to him? Maybe he wants me to want him to take me back? What if he changed his mind? Well there is only one way to find out, and I'm going to him anyways, no matter what." Triss concluded, and decided to herself. She was going to go to Geralt, she was gonna tell him, and show him if need be, how much she loves him and how sorry she is. Whereas Yen's fatal flaw is pride, Triss Merigold's fatal flaw, which isn't very fatal, is loyalty. And as she has done for many years, and will continue to do, she won't let pride get in her way.
"Well, it's time I got dressed and left this room. I am quite hungry, and I need to stop dwelling on what happened... I know what I need to do, now it is just a matter of when to do it." And with that, Triss got dressed, opened the door and left the room Dandelion had graciously gave her.
She moved to go down the stairs to head into the main lounge of the inn, but as she was descending the first few stairs she caught a glimpse of quite possibly the worst thing that could have happened to her at that moment... Geralt walking in the front door, and slowly walking for the stairs.
"Shit," Triss breathed to herself, and turned quickly to run back up the stairs to her room. Whne she got there she quickly cast a spell to be able to see through the wall, sure enough Geralt walked into view coming up the stairs. He stopped, looked around, eyes moving across the area by the stairs... He stopped, sighed, shook his head and walked up the stairs to the top floor.
Triss let out an audible sigh of relief, she had almost been 'caught,' as you could call it. "So he's the "friend," that Dandelion was talking about, of course... that only makes sense, of course Geralt is Dandelion's friend that is staying the Ruby, who else would he give his best room to? Well honestly this could work out really well for me, now all I got to do is put on something nice, work up my confidence, then climb the stairs and open the door when I am ready to confront him!"
And with that, Triss set off once again down the stairs to make the most out of the few hours of daylight there still were.
She went first to Elihal's shop, now you may wonder why Triss was going to a tailer when she is an archmistress of magic and master illusionist, and doesn't need clothes. Well the answer is simple, if she was going to go to Geralt and pour her heart out to him in an attempt to earn his forgiveness, then she was going to take the effort to wear real clothes and not simply cheap illusions. The feelings that she has towards Geralt cannot be dispelled, so why should anything else be?
"Exactlly," she said aloud to no one in particular. She was outside Elihal's shop, and walked in.
She was greeted by rows and rows of doublets...
"Sheesh, I hope he does women's outfits. If he does it'll be easy because I can just use an illusion to show him what I want made, and he can make a perfect copy. I'm so smart!" Triss whispered to herself.
She walked up to Elihal, who was in the... extension? Of the house, and asked him if he made women's garments, and if so, that she needed one made at the highest quality. Truth be told, she didn't actually know.
"Of course, please do. If anything chaifs or pinches I can alter it on the spot at no charge. Once I'm done. It'll feel like you're wearing nothing at all." To her, it sounded like this was his standard line... Which it was.
"Perfect," she said, and with a flick of her wrist and a small bit of effort, created a beautiful flowing red/ green gown, with light gold trims here and there, it was gorgeous. She handed it to him, it wasn't real of course, but not even useing a quarter of her skill she created a gown that looked, felt, and even smelled real.
"I want a gown that looks exactly the same as this one, I can pay." She said to him in a business tone.
To her satisfaction, he looked completely dumbfounded, amazed, curious and confused. He held up the dress, sniffed it, then ran his hands along it, like he couldn't believe that something so perfect just manifested itself in mere seconds out of thin air.
"An illusion, a very complex one, it looks and feels, even smells real."
"I must say, that is quite impressive, you must be Triss Merigold."
She was slightly surprised he knew who she was, but little did she know how popular she was amidst not only mages but non-humans as well. Not to mention witch hunters, but for an entirely different reason.
"Yes, I am, and thank you. Can you make the dress?" She asked in a very slightly impatient tone.
"Of course, Miss, yes I do believe I can make it, especially with a diagram as... tangible as this, it shouldn't take me very long either. Come back tomorrow at midday, I will have it all ready for you." He replied with a smile.
"Thank you, I will come back tomorrow at midday. Good day Elihal, farewell." And with that she walked out the door.
"Well, just one more thing to take care of before I am reeady." Triss thought to herself, and with that she went back to the R&T to speak with Dandelion.
Time skip- Still Triss POV
"Greetings, Dandelion." She greeted with a smile.
"Greetings, Triss!" He greeted back to her with his typical excited attitude.
"Yes, listen, do you still have the key Geralt gave you to the dimeritium bracelets?"
"Actually I do, why do you ask?"
"For personal use... can I have the key?"
"Ahh, sure, here you go." He said with a bit of hesitation and confusion, then handed her the key.
"Thank you, Dandelion, and thank you again for the room."
"No problem, that's what friends are for, am I right?"
She smiled at him, then headed up the stairs to get a good nights rest...
Another time skip, time: Next day at midday. Triss POV
"Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaawn, ahh, a great nights sleep." Triss said to herself, got dressed then headed out the door and down the stairs. When she exited the front door of the R&T she headed off in the direction of Elihal's shop.
Whe she got to Elihal's shop, it was midday of course.
She knocked and entered.
Elihal was standing in the back half extension of his humble establishment, a proud smile on his face.
She greeted him and asked if her dress was ready.
"It is done." he said with a 'presto' kind of lilt.
"Excellent, how much do I owe you?"
"Sorceress discount, so 50 crowns."
"Sorceress discount? Huh?" Triss thought with confusion.
"Perfect, here you go, how did it turn out?"
"Having a physical draft definitely made it easier, I do believe it turned out exactly like the one you gave me."
"Excellent, well I need to be on my way. Thank you, again."
"Of course, ever at your service, farewell."
And with that, she retrieved her dress, dispelled the illusion that she made for him to copy the day before and left.
She returned to her room in the R&T via a portal that she opened in an out of sight alley.
"Oh my, this turned out wonderfully, I should have payed him extra!" She said aloud to herself, admiration in her tone.
"Well, I should try it on." She dispelled her clothes, locked the door with magic, then tried on the dress and looked at herself in the mirror.
"Too revealing?" She asked, "No, it's not too revealing, you're just being doubtful again."
She looked toward the bracelet Geralt had given her, even though he gave it to her so that she would powerless, it still was a gift and therefor she treasured it.
She took off the dress, put on some sexy lingerie, then put it back on. She then walked toward the dresser and grabbed the bracelet, she put it in her pocket, she let her hair down and combed it out. She made it silky and fresh, smoothed out her dress then walked out the door.
She climbed the stairs to the 3rd floor, to the ruby suite, when she was right outside the door she took the bracelet from her pocket and snapped it on her wrist.
"If I'm going to show him that I'm sorry, that I truly love him, and that he can trust me. Then I have to show him that he can, that I willingly made myself powerless to come and see him."
And with that, she knocked on the door...
A/N Yep, didn't see that coming did ya? I did a bunch of thinking and reflecting on how I can make this 'confession' of love from Triss as perfect as possible. And it just felt right, I feel that (her witcher 3 character arc, at least) would do that, she'd put the band on her wrist, don't you agree?
Anyway, I thought that was a perfect addition, and I hope you can deduce the reasoning behind why it makes sense.
I just had to end the chapter there, oooh the suspense! Next chapter is of course going to be the big confrontation. I'm not gonna force my image of her dress on you, just think of the most beautiful and most sensual dress/ gown you've ever seen in a movie or IRL, and that's what it looks like.
Till next time! R&R! Incredible! Please review and tell me what you think! I'll have the next chapter out in the coming few days.
