After nearly a full day of driving, Dawn thought she could see brahmin carts on the distance, possibly Ronald's. She was just starting to get tired then, so she hoped it was indeed Ronald, wanting to stop and sleep for a bit. Libitina had already fallen asleep in a little nap alongside Dominique, and Heather was cuddling up against Marv, sleeping like a baby in his arms. Dawn, Kid, and Marv were all still awake. Dawn and Kid were both still holding hands, Dawn controlling the steering wheel with only her left hand. Kid whispered to her, not wanting to wake anyone up. "Dawn...When we stop...Well...You said before that you'd talk to me about some of the stuff about your past...So..." She looked over to him curiously. He was looking at her, but his eyes were a little lowered, Kid looking at her stomach almost shyly as he said "When we stop, before we sleep...Do you want to talk about it?..." Dawn smiled a little and nodded, saying "Alright...But I'm a little tired, so I won't be able to tell you about everything..." He smiled a little and looked up to her face. She smiled at him and looked back through the windshield again.
The carts were drawing closer. Someone in one of the carts raised a hand in greeting, Dawn realizing then that the carts were, in fact, Ronald's. She drove up to them and parked the car slowly, Ronald getting the brahmin to stop and rest. The two-headed cows all mooed gently as they relaxed down on the ground. Ronald hopped out of his cart as Dawn and Kid stepped out of the Highwayman. He approached them and smiled. "Couldn't wait for us, eh? Hmmm?...What's wrong? You guys got "bad news" written all over your faces." Dawn's face was indeed serious as she said "Something's happening at New Reno, you guys can't go there, we just left not long ago. The Scaled Hiss are taking over." Ronald's eyes went a little wide. "You're playing a joke, right? That shite ain't funny, Dawn!" Dawn shook her head. "Wish I was, Ronald." Kid nodded and said "She's t-telling the truth. Something was going on, everyone was freaking out, guns were going off everywhere..." Ronald raised a hand to his head, his keen blue eyes looking off to the side and around the broken world beyond. He let out a heavy sigh before running his hand down his face, feeling along his bushy beard for a few seconds before raising his eyebrows.
"Christ Almighty, what next? In a month I'll hear from someone that the lil' fuckers are trying to take New Arroyo or something." Dawn chuckled, saying "They try that and not only would they be fucked against the New Arroyo military, but they'd be doubly fucked, as the NCR would step in and help. Naw...I don't see them trying anything quite so big after New Reno, if they even get the city. The people there aren't helpless...But they'll be caught off-guard. That's what the Scaled Hiss has going for them the most, the element of surprise and disorder." A cool wind blew around them as the sun just began to set. Ronald stayed silent for a moment before nodding towards his left side. "Stitch and the rest are already asleep, I was just staying up to make sure the brahmin stayed on the course...Guess you guys wanna take it easy right now? Sun's set." Dawn nodded. "Yeah, I wanna pack it in...Got any space in your carts? I'd like some privacy with Kid, the others could sleep in them." Ronald winked at her with a warm smile, Kid blushing a little, Ronald saying "Yeah, I got some space. Go ahead and put some of your friends in there, it's no worry."
Dawn smiled at him and nodded in thanks. She turned and walked back to the car, leaning in and whispering to Marv. Ronald looked at Kid. "So, how are ya, mate?" He asked lightly. Kid shrugged. "Good, I suppose...We got out of New Reno pretty fast, we didn't even really see any raiders. I'm worried about everyone back there, though..." Ronald said "Ah, they'll be fine. Well...Hopefully. The smart ones will know what to do. The silly ones could be in some trouble. You and your friends are alright though, that's what counts." Kid nodded slightly. "How about you?" He asked. Ronald said "Ahhh, well...You know...Travelling the wastes without any of the others...It's a switch...I miss them...I still wish I could have at least seen a body...Dawn's friends aren't much to talk to..." Kid nodded. "...I miss Tansy a little..." He murmured. Ronald nodded. "Yeah, I noticed, the two of you seemed to be getting a little close..." Kid nodded a little, but said nothing more. Marv quietly walked by the two of them with Heather in his arms, raising his eyebrows at Ronald for a moment, heading for a nearby brahmin cart. It was empty of people, the goods inside being covered in a green blanket of sorts, the blanket being a little rough but having a strangely appealing quality to it.
Marv gently laid Heather down on her side, smiling as he watched her cuddle up in the blanket. He got in by her, lying on his back, looking up to the stars above. Dawn walked by Kid and Ronald, carrying Dominique in her arms, walking over to a nearby cart, finding it empty. She laid her down lightly, making sure to put her in a comfortable position before turning and heading back to the car. She carried Libitina out, bringing her to the cart with Dominique, resting her down by her. She watched for a moment as Libitina subconsciously brought herself closer to Dominique, cuddling up against her side in her sleep. Dominique turned her head towards Libitina, not reacting in any other way, the two of them still sleeping peacefully. Dawn turned and headed back to the Highwayman, Kid saying "It's good to see you again, Ronald." Ronald nodded at him and said "You too, m'boy. See you in the mornin'." Ronald turned and headed for a nearby cart, Kid turning to the car and walking towards it. Dawn smiled as he walked near. "Come on. Let's get in the back." She said quietly. Kid nodded with a little smile.
Because everyone else was so near, Dawn said that the two of them couldn't do anything sexual, saying that the two of them might wake everyone else up and lead to an awkward situation. Kid understood. They both took off their shoes, laying them in the front seats. Dawn pulled off her protective vest along with her bra and put them in the driver's seat, saying that it would have been uncomfortable to lie down with them still on. Dawn laid down in the backseat, leaving her helmet in the driver's seat by her boots, bra, and vest, Kid resting down on her and cuddling up with her. Dawn spread her trenchcoat over the two of them like an improvised blanket, raising the collar of it to the back of Kid's neck. They laid in silence for about a minute before Kid said "So...Do you want to talk?..." Dawn smiled, warmly saying "Geez, you must be really curious about me, hmm?" Kid blushed embarrassingly. Dawn noticed his reaction and grinned. She let out a light sigh, still grinning. "Come on, you don't actually wanna hear about that stuff, do you? Probably wouldn't be very interesting." Kid looked up to her face, feeling the soft warmth of her bare chest against his own, against his shirt. "I wanna hear about it, Dawn...Come on, tell me about it..."
Dawn's grin slowly turned to a pleased smile. "Well...Alright...Give me a second to think of a place to start off at..." Kid relaxed, lying on Dawn's front, his left leg between her's and his right by her left, his arms by her sides, her arms wrapped around him. The side of his face by her throat and near her right shoulder, he could feel the gentle rising and falling of her chest as she slowly took in calm breaths. After a few seconds, she said "...I was born in the Angel's Boneyard. That place used to be known as Los Angeles, but it was more or less totally destroyed when the bombs dropped. Now it's known by most people as just "the Boneyard". It's a bit of a creepy place if you're not used to it...All these huge buildings, biggest I've ever seen, just pointing up to the sky with nothing but metal frames, everything inside having been blasted to bits. Skeletons are everywhere...Los Angeles must have been a popular place before everything went to shit. I wasn't fazed by it, but I always noticed visitors getting scared when they saw it." "Where is it?" Kid asked softly. Dawn said "Far to the south, and I mean far...The place was part of the NCR when I was born, and I doubt things have changed. Anyway...What else would be interesting?..."
Dawn went silent for a moment before speaking again, in a soft tone. "I had a regular family, I guess...A dad, a mom, an older brother and a younger sister...My dad worked with a gang known as the "Gun Runners"...He helped them sell weapons and make shipments around the wastes. The perks for the job were nice, he usually had a gun or two around the house, not to mention a suit of combat armour for himself...We didn't live like kings, though. Food was always in short supply, same with drinks...The Boneyard is a dangerous place for stupid people, it's got a lot of gangs in it, one wrong look at the wrong person and you could end up dead in a ditch somewhere. One day, my dad gets asked to join in on a shipment. Him and a bunch of others guys would be transporting a few plasma rifles to the north, I don't know where, exactly..." Dawn smiled a little. "I always wanted a plasma rifle...They're these big, bulky things...Almost as big as a little person. They're green and shoot green balls of this stuff that'll melt anything it touches, it's really cool...The things are expensive, though." Dawn was quiet for a second before saying "...My dad never came back...None of the people he was supposed to go with came back, either..."
Kid softly said "...I'm sorry..." Dawn shrugged. "It's alright...I was only a little girl then, I didn't really realize what went on, I just missed him and wished he would come back. Nobody would tell me what happened...I still don't know for sure. He was probably attacked during his shipment and killed somewhere." She fell silent for a few seconds. "...I looked up to my brother. He was like a protector, he was always looking out for me and my sister and making sure we were alright. After he and my mom realized that my dad probably wasn't coming back, he took what money we had to get some equipment from the Gun Runners. They took what he had and gave him some stuff, but my dad worked hard for them and they knew it, so they gave him some extra stuff to help. He just left one day, not long after...I think he went looking for our dad. He never came back, either..." Kid softly apologized again. Dawn rubbed along his back lightly.
Dawn's voice began to reveal a little bit of repressed anger as she said "My mom turned to prostitution to try and support herself, my sister, and myself. If my brother hadn't taken any money, she might not have had to, but he did, so...Things didn't really pick up. She got just enough money to keep us from starving, but without a few guys around with guns, we were faced with a lot more danger. Gangs tried attacking us a few times for money. The Gun Runners looked out for us though, they helped keep us safe. One day, my sister was walking home alone after going out looking for water. This little brat, a junior member of the Rippers, beat my sister up really bad. He was just a little kid, like her. He probably did it as some sort of initiation into the gang, but who knows. The gang used to be big in Boneyard, but they were more or less wiped out by the Blades, this other gang. They were making a comeback, though..."
Dawn took in a deep breath before slowly exhaling. She calmly said "He broke my sister's nose and gave her a black eye. She had bruises all along her stomach. She was crying as she basically crawled into the house. My mom tried taking care of her, but I was more concerned with finding out who the boy was. My sister told me what he looked like, and I eventually found him, maybe a day or two later. He may have been a few years younger than myself, but...There's no way he could just get away with what he did. I cornered him in an alley. I was hardly nine years old at the time. I had a knife I had grabbed from my house. The kid was pissing himself with fright. He begged me not to hurt him. I ignored him, I knew he had to pay. He got desperate and tried fighting me to get away, but I stopped him. I killed him. I stabbed him in the stomach a good four times before tossing him in a dumpster and putting a large cinder block on top of it, to trap his corpse inside. I don't know if anybody ever found out what happened to him." Kid said nothing, simply listening as she continued. "About a year passed...I was already developing my curves then. A lot of girls, especially the older ones, weren't happy. They called me a "freak" for starting to fill out at ten years old."
Dawn laughed softly and smiled. "I knew the truth...They were just jealous. None of them had a body comparable to mine, even though some of them were older teenagers already. I could tell by the way they'd look at me, envy glittered in all of their eyes. My boobs were quickly getting bigger, my ass was getting sexier, and I wasn't really fat as a little girl, but still, my thighs and hips were developing and getting pretty lovely, too. My little sister was especially jealous, but she was sort of playful about it, she didn't get mad over it like the other girls...In fact, if it wasn't for my curves...Heh, if it wasn't for my body, we probably never would have met." Kid raised an eyebrow curiously and looked up to her face. She was smiling. She gave him a kiss on the forehead, Kid smiling and relaxing down on her again, kissing her on the throat. Dawn was quiet for a moment, her smile dying a little as she thought about the events that transpired afterwards.
"One day, when my mom brought some guy home, I noticed him paying a lot of attention to me, not so much to my mom. I was a little creeped out, so I mostly tried to stay away from him, but he was kind of polite, so I treated him the same." Kid kept listening quietly. "He took my mom in the bedroom, but instead of getting busy with one another, he simply talked to her. I tried listening. He was trying to make a deal with her. He offered her about five hundred caps, but I didn't hear what he wanted at first. My mom got pissed at him. She freaked out for a few minutes before she calmed down. The guy didn't say anything while she lost her cool. When she calmed down, he simply said he'd give her eight hundred instead of five hundred. That's when I heard what he wanted. He wanted to sleep with me instead of my mom. He said that he found my mom attractive, but that he had a fetish for little girls, and since I already had my curves developing, he found me unbelievably sexy. I hung around and listened from behind the door to the bedroom, hearing my mom actually begin to consider it. The man raised his offer, saying he would pay my mom a thousand caps. A thousand caps! That could have made sure we would've been okay for months, maybe even a year or so if we were careful. Well, that did it. My mom basically squirted in her pants and agreed right away. The man said he's give me a cup of a special drink to make me fall asleep for a little and that he wouldn't do anything that would really hurt me too bad, like smack me or shove his dick up my ass or anything like that."
Kid was starting to really feel bad for Dawn. Dawn chuckled. "I didn't stick around for that. I gave my sister a kiss and told her that I had to go. She cried and asked me not to, saying that I'd disappear like our brother and our dad. I told her that I'd be okay and that I'd see her again some day, but that I had to leave right then and there. She kept crying as I left. The only thing I took with me was the knife I had killed that boy with earlier, nothing else. I just left and didn't look back." Dawn stretched slightly. "Wanna hear more, or do you want to go to sleep, now?..." Kid earnestly said "I'd like to hear more, if you've got more to tell!..." Dawn smiled and said "Of course, the story doesn't end just there...So...What happened next?...Hmm..." She was quiet for a moment, the two of them feeling the gentle wind from the wasteland reaching through the car. He closed his eyes and tried to visualize the things she said. "I had walked through the Boneyard until I had reached nearly the outskirts. I was walking around a few skeletons in the street, thinking about who they might have once belonged to. Suddenly, this firefight broke out in an alley nearby. I went to go check it out. There were these two Blades guys fighting these three Ripper dudes. One of the Blades went down, but the last one standing took out all of the Rippers. His friend died, so he just ran off. I walked over and checked out their bodies. It had been the first time I had seen a dead body since I had killed the boy that had hurt my sister. I took everything they had, their guns, their ammo, their money, their chems...The only things I left were their armour, I knew I wouldn't be able to wear any of it, I was too small, plus the stuff was covered in blood, anyway."
Dawn let out a gentle sigh. "I didn't know where I was gonna go, but I figured I had to leave the Boneyard. I wasn't going to stick around and let some random creep fuck me in my sleep. I headed north. It didn't take long for me to get hungry and thirsty, but luckily I came across a caravan that was also headed north. Lucky me, hmm?" Kid smiled. Dawn said "Well, we headed north for a bit until we reached old Mariposa. They went east to the NCR and set up a little camp of sorts. I stayed with them for a while, they were nice to me, there was a bunch of people in those caravans, all like a big family. When I turned about eleven, I started noticing that this one boy, Weiss, was always looking at me and blushing. I figured he must have had a crush on me. He was a cute boy I suppose, but I wasn't really interested at first. One day, he simply sprung a kiss on me. I was...Surprised, but not in a bad way. That's when I started to get weird feelings for him, even today I'm not sure what it was...Probably just a crush, like his. Nothing serious, kid stuff. We spent some time together, walking around holding hands, hugging whenever we thought nobody would notice..."
Dawn chuckled. "It was nice. The caravan decided to pick up and head to Gecko to trade with the ghouls there. Everything went fine, but...When we got close to Gecko..." Dawn's voice grew a little quiet and more depressed. "...Raiders attacked us. They killed a few of us in their first surprise attack. A lot of us were still okay, but we were hit pretty hard...This one raider threw a grenade our way at one point...I was with a group of other kids, Weiss was there..." Dawn let out a soft sigh. "He pushed me really hard and got me out of the way, shoving me behind some rocks...The grenade went off. Most of the kids there were blown to bits, but Weiss only had a leg and an arm ripped off and some shrapnel in his back. I crawled out to see if he was okay...I remember crying when I saw him. I was screaming for help, but the raiders were still everywhere, shooting all over the place, everyone else too busy with trying to get rid of them. Weiss told me that he..." Dawn grew quiet. Kid couldn't see, but she was looking off to the side sadly.
"...He...Said something to me, and I know he wasn't trying to hurt me when he said it, but it only ended up making the moment more painful....Just a few seconds later, he died. I ran away...I left for anywhere, I didn't care where, I just wanted to leave...For a few months, I went around and tried to survive...I did a lot of favours for people, I helped a lot of people along the way, you'd be surprised how willing people are to accept help, even if it's from a little girl...The things I did is another story altogether, it's a long one, I don't want to get into it right now...I heard that the caravan survived and made it to Gecko, but I didn't care, after Weiss died, I didn't want to go back. Eventually, I made my way to New Reno. I was twelve at that time." Kid was starting to feel sleepy, but he kept listening as Dawn continued. "I did some things around town, eventually getting positive attention from the Wrights...And...Well..." Dawn yawned and stretched slightly once more. "...Let's call it a night, hmm?...I can tell you more later, if you'd like...There's more to tell, but...I'm getting tired...So are you..." Kid nodded softly, saying "Okay..." Dawn rubbed her chin along his forehead comfortingly before gently saying "Goodnight..." Kid let out a deep breath peacefully, feeling safe and at ease with her, quickly drifting off to sleep...
"Ah well bless my soul, what's wrong with me? I'm itching like a man on a fuzzy tree, my friends say I'm actin' wild as a bug!...I'm in love, I'm all shook up! Oooh, woo hoo, yeah yeah! Well, my hands are shaky and my knees are weak, I can't seem to stand on my own two feet! Who do you thank when you have such luck?...I'm in love, I'm all shook up! Wooo oooh, yeah yeah!" Kid awoke, the radio playing softly, a cheerful man's voice singing through it's speakers. He was resting on his side, Dawn's trenchcoat over him. He could hear talking outside of the car. Dawn was gone. He sat up slowly, rubbing at his eyes, looking around through the car's windows. Dawn stood with Ronald, the two not being very far from the car, the two of them talking. Stitch, Ice, and Krypt stood nearby and watched them. Libitina was standing by them as well. He didn't see Marv or Heather. Dominique was by the car, leaning against it's side, her back to Kid. She obviously didn't realize that he was awake just yet. He quietly moved around in the backseat and looked through a nearby window, getting a better look at the group outside. Dawn was dressed in all of her clothes except for her trenchcoat and her helmet, holding her helmet in her right hand, her Gauss Rifle shouldered on her left side.
She nodded as Ronald said a few words, Kid not quite picking them up. Dawn spoke back to him. "What's going on?" He asked, looking to Dominique. Dominique jumped slightly, looking at Kid with wide eyes. She said a few words quietly in French before softly saying "You scared me, Kid!" Kid smiled a little, saying "Sorry..." Dominique reached a hand over and rubbed along the top of his head for a moment, a smile slowly coming on her face. "It's alright...Anyway...They're just talking about what they should do. Nobody wants the Scaled Hiss inside New Reno, it seems. But they all know how big the group is. I listened for a bit before I came over here..." Kid nodded. "What did they say? Have they come to any idea?" He asked. Dominique reached a hand up to her face and felt through some of her blonde bangs absent-mindedly, saying "No...Krypt suggested that the group go back to New Reno and hide in the shadows, killing people here and there, slowly working the group down without them ever figuring out that Dawn or the rest even exist. Dawn had said that Krypt's idea wouldn't work forever, that the Scaled Hiss would eventually realize something was up.
Ronald then suggested that they go to the NCR and try to get help from the president. That's when I left." Kid nodded slightly. He noticed Dawn shrug before looking over to the car. She spotted his face looking through the window. He smiled at her. She smiled and raised a hand in his direction, waving him over along with Dominique. Kid got out of the car and pulled his shoes on, walking over to the group with Dominique. "Good morning, Kid." Libitina said softly, by his side. Kid smiled at her. Dawn stepped closer to him and gave him a quick kiss on the forehead, some of her soft black hair lightly swinging over and running along the side of his face, Dawn softly asking "You hungry, babe?" Kid nodded slightly. Dawn said "Well, go see Marv and Heather, they're cooking up some stuff. They're just over there, we've all already eaten, so you can eat with them." Kid nodded, looking to the side, spotting Marv and Heather for the first time that morning. They were by a small fire, the fire being in a shallow pit, Heather sitting on the ground by it, watching Marv and the fire happily. Marv had a contraption of sorts over the firepit, looking like two metal rods stuck in the ground holding up a tin tray of sorts, the fire heating up the tray's underside and cooking something on top of it.
Dawn walked past him to the Highwayman as he made his way over to Marv and Heather. Dawn reached into the car and turned up the volume of the radio. A new song had just began to play. Dawn grinned. She knew the song, it was a classic; Louis Armstrong's "A Kiss To Build A Dream On". It was one of her favourite songs of all-time. The lyrics drifted out through the windows softly, playing out on the wind. "Give me a kiss to build a dream on...And my imagination will thrive upon that kiss...Mmm sweetheart, I ask no more than this, a kiss to build a dream on, mmmm...." Ronald tapped a foot in time with the slow and peaceful song. "Into the oldies, eh, Dawn? Better than that more "modern" crap you hear on some radio stations, anyway." Ronald said, smiling. Dawn chuckled a little. Kid walked over in Marv and Heather's direction, hearing them talk in hushed tones. "...Will you be able to eat it, Marv?..." "I can try, but it'll taste awful...At least it'll end my hunger, at least for now, anyway..." Heather noticed Kid, smiling at him and waving cheerily. She still had Libitina's paint on her face.
Marv glanced over to him. "Hey! Kid, right?" Kid nodded. Marv smiled and stood up from the fire's side, holding out his hand. "I don't think I've had a true opportunity to properly introduce myself. I'm Marv. It's nice to meet you." Kid shook his hand, saying "Call me Kid. Nice to meet you, too. What's cooking?" Marv said "Ah, just some brahmin steaks that Ronald had wrapped up. There's enough for the three of us, want some?" Kid nodded, smiling a little. "I'd like some, yeah." Marv said "Just take a seat, they should be done soon." Kid nodded, taking a seat by the fire, by Heather. She smiled at him and said "Hello!" Kid smiled at her and said the same in return. Marv got back to looking after the steaks, watching the meat darken as it heated up.
A man in an unzipped black leather jacket and a dark green pair of cargo pants stood in an alley of New Reno. He wore a white muscle shirt underneath the jacket, being a little dirty, stained with tiny droplets of blood. The left pantleg of his pants was a little torn over his knee, revealing scraped red skin beneath. His dark shoes were a little stained with droplets of blood. His hair was dark brown and short, combed forwards with his bangs spiked up slightly. His eyes were dark brown and serious. A bloody bandage was wrapped around his throat and neck, the red being mostly visible over the very front of his throat. A large dog with dark gray fur stood by him, panting gently and looking at him. The man had a belt of ammo diagonally wrapped around his torso, the bullets of the belt being long and thin. In his hands he held a large, fearsome weapon: an M249 SAW.
He was tapping his left foot against the ground rhythmically, humming a soft tune. His back against the wall of one of the two buildings making up the alley, his side near the corner, shots sounded out everywhere as footsteps slowly approached the corner. He stopped humming and glanced towards his side, towards the corner. He spun around it and opened fire, bursting a spray of deadly bullets forwards. Three raiders fell in a gory haze of red, one of them firing a few shots into the air in death. The man jumped back in the alley as shots from other nearby raiders flew his way. He began to run down the alleyway, the dog following him, the two of them fading away.
Within about an hour, Marv, Heather, and Kid had all eaten their fill. Kid had noticed that Marv had seemed to have trouble downing his food, sometimes making faces like he found the food to be distasteful. Heather asked him once or twice if he would be able to finish his food, Marv replying with a simple "I'll try". When they were all done, Dawn walked over, Kid standing by her. She said "Alright...Myself, Ronald and all the rest have talked things over...We've decided to stick around here for a bit more. The Highwayman is just about out of small energy cells to fuel it, so...Ronald will be taking some of my caps to Gecko to trade for some microfusion cells. Those'll be able to fuel the car a lot better, so it'll last a lot longer. He'll only be a couple of days. Until he gets back, we're not going to do anything." "What about when he gets back?" Kid asked. "What then?" Dawn slowly said "Then we're going to try going to the NCR, to see if they'd be willing to do anything. If we made it sound like the raiders might mess with NCR business or even try to invade it one day, they might decide to clear out the raiders." Kid nodded slightly. "So...Until then...We just stay put?" He asked. Dawn nodded. "Pretty much. I already gave Ronald some of my caps, he's already on his way. Should only take a few days, as long as nothing happens.
Stitch and Ice wanted to go with him to make sure he stayed safe, so they're gone, too." Kid nodded gently. Dawn smiled. "Come on, it's too early in the morning to be standing around in the sun. Let's relax in the car." Kid nodded with a smile, happily saying "Alright!" Dawn reached out and took one of his hands, the two of them walking back to the Highwayman together. They got in the back seat, Dawn leaving her helmet and Gauss Rifle on the floor of the car by them, setting them on top of the bags of money and items they had. She pulled her trenchcoat out from under the two of them, resting it by their sides, by her helmet and weapon. She sat with her legs up on the seat, her back to the door of the passenger's side, Kid sitting between her legs with his back to her frontside, Dawn resting her chin down on his head and keeping her arms around him. They remained silent for a bit before Kid raised his right hand to Dawn's own right, taking it in his and wrapping his fingers around her's. She smiled, giving his hand a gentle squeeze. She noticed Dominique walking closer to the car, looking up to her. Dominique smiled and looked inside, saying "Hey...Can I hang out with you guys? Nothing really to do..."
Dawn shrugged. "Sure. Take a seat in the front, there's no room in the back..." Dominique nodded, taking a seat in the driver's seat, reclining in the chair and stretching slightly. Libitina quickly came over, asking the same thing Dominique had, Dawn saying she could sit in the front as well, on the passenger's side. Marv and Heather came over not long after, the two of them sitting on the trunk of the car together, simply relaxing and looking out at the wasteland. Krypt stood ever-vigilant, standing out by the car, watching for any movement that may give away a hostile being approaching the car. They were all quiet for a few minutes until Dawn called out "Hey, Heather! You like Libby's face paint?" Heather turned around slightly, looking through the rear window of the car, nodding with a happy smile. Dawn smiled. Libitina raised an eyebrow, a smile coming to her, as well. "I tried to do some stuff that a little girl would like. I personally prefer more extravagant designs, heh." Dawn chuckled softly. Dominique quietly but playfully said "Extravagant is an understatement..." Libitina reached over and gently smacked Dominique's upper right arm, looking over and saying "Hey!...I like my faces...You're just jealous."
Dominique made a "pffft" sound, Dawn laughing slightly, Kid smiling. Libitina, in a high-pitched a sing-song voice, said "Jealoussss!" Dominique smiled and shook her head gently, looking out through the window by her side and dropping the matter. A second later, Dominique said "I'm about to head over to one of Ronald's carts, the one with the food and drinks...Anyone want a drink while I'm there?" Dawn said "If he's got a bottle of Gamma Gulp Beer, I'll have one of those, thanks." Kid said "A Nuka-Cola of any kind, doesn't really matter." Libitina grinned and said "A Nuka-Cola, please." Dominique raised an eyebrow at Libitina before jumping out of the car. "Marv, Heather? You guys want a drink?" Dominique asked. Heather smiled and nodded. Marv turned around slightly and looked at Dominique. "Ah, sure...A Nuka-Cola for Heather, and any type of beer is fine for me." Dawn grinned and said "Glad I'm not the only one having alcohol!" Marv smiled a little and looked over his shoulder, glancing at Dawn for a moment. The radio was still playing loudly, Libitina turning down it's volume a little. "Let's get some cool music going on here..." She said softly, playing with a few buttons and twisting a few dials on the radio.
Dawn clicked her tongue, saying "I guess you're into the newer stuff, Libby?" Libitina nodded, saying "I like the old guys you hear on the radio, though: Dean Martin, Bob Crosby, Sammy Davis junior, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley...All those old-style guys are cool, I like their songs. But the newer ones are louder, they have more energy to them, I like the boost I can get from listening to them." Dawn smiled and raised her eyebrows. "Frank Sinatra? I didn't think someone your age would know about him." Libitina gave Dawn a knowing smile, saying "Dawn...I'm only a few years younger than you, there's not much a difference between our ages!" Dawn nodded, smiling more. "Exactly!" She said. Libitina smiled and shook her head gently, saying "Whatever...I know about him because he's on the radio, anyone can know about those guys." Dominique came back to the car then, several bottles in her hands. Libitina found a station with songs that were from a time that was closer to just before the Great War, a rock song softly playing through the radio's speakers.
Dominique handed a brown bottle of regular beer to Marv, handing a bottle of Dazzling Blue Nuka-Cola to Heather. They both thanked her, Dominique smiling at them. She got back in the car, handing a bottle of Classic Nuka-Cola to Libitina. Libitina smiled at her in thanks, Dominique still smiling, nodding at her. She looked into the backseat and handed Dawn a bottle of Gamma Gulp Beer, passing Kid a bottle of Cherry Nuka-Cola as well. For herself, Dominique had a bottle of Nuka-Cola as well; it was dark like the Classic Nuka-Cola Libitina had, only Dominique's bottle was simply labelled "Nuka-Cola", nothing more. Nobody had trouble pulling the caps from their bottles, Dawn and Marv both tossing their bottle's caps away, everyone else hanging onto their's. They all drank slowly, talking amicably with one another, Dawn and the rest curious about Marv and Heather. Heather seemed a little worried over their questioning, but Marv seemed a little more open about the duo's past.
He told them that he was from a town far to the south called Junktown, Dawn saying she knew the place, saying that it had been not far from the Boneyard, the place where she herself had been born. He said he travelled north by himself to escape crimes back at his home, running across Heather half-starved in the wastes. Eventually, they both made their way to New Reno, where they met everyone. Dawn could sense that he wasn't being entirely honest with her and her friends, but she didn't push the matter right then and there. Heather seemed a little more relaxed once they had stopped talking about her and Marv's pasts, the group talking about other things in friendly tones, everyone learning a little about one another as they spoke.
Shots rang around the two of them as they ran. Hiro and Felicity had been trapped in New Reno, the two of them having been caught off-guard as the Scaled Hiss poured into the city. They were both frantically trying to find a way out, to get safe. Felicity was dressed in a short skirt, the skirt being dark red with black stripes, dirty and with a few tears here and there. She had a dark blue long-sleeved shirt on, the left sleeve being torn off at the elbow. She didn't have any shoes. Hiro was dressed in his metal armour and regular clothing underneath, his pistols in his hands. They were racing through an alley, raiders chasing them. They were both panting. They got through the alley, racing across the street, the raiders behind them shouting to any raiders up ahead. Hiro saw one nearby, pointing a shotgun at the two of them. They kept moving, Hiro firing one of his pistols at the man rapidly, killing him before his could fire his shotgun. Hiro was hit in the back of his right leg, spinning around and collapsing to the ground on his back. He fired both pistols at the raiders chasing them, killing two of them quickly, one of them firing off a few shots at Hiro, his metal armour stopping two of the shots over his chest, one of them getting through and hitting him in the hip.
Felicity collapsed by his side, sadly yet urgently saying "Come on, get up, we have to go!" She helped Hiro stand, Hiro eyeing the bodies of the dead raiders. "I have an idea..." He said. She looked at him curiously. He nodded towards the dead raiders, grunting slightly from his wounds as he approached their corpses. "Let's get dressed in their clothes. The Scaled Hiss can't possibly know exactly what all of it's members look like. We get dressed in their clothes, we might be able to slip away without any more trouble." Felicity nodded shakily. "Yeah, yeah...That's smart. Let's do it!" Hiro and her quickly began to undress a pair of raiders, getting ready to dress up in their garb, hoping that their disguises will work...
