It took her about an hour, but V was closing in on the Aldecaldo camp, Panam was waiting and she had been shuffling for a while now “V! You’re really here!” V kills the engine and approaches Panam “Okay, what is this all about? You were trying to make it on your own and now you’re back in camp?” Panam motions her to follow, as she explains “Mitch contacted me earlier, Saul has been taken” V frowns, looking at the fellow nomad “Your leader? You chooms know anything more?” Panam nods as they start to walk through the camp, and memories started to flow back into V’s head “The Raffen Shiv’s little gang, the Wraiths, he was doing a run and they nabbed him on his way back to camp” Panam had led V to a table where what looked like to be the veterans of the camp were arguing for the best course of action “Panam? What’s this? Why are you bringing an outsider? This does not concern them” An older woman asks, V remains quiet, she knows how things with nomad clans go, and even if she herself had been a nomad, it was best if she didn’t say anything and let Panam do all the talking.
“We’re going to need her help, she’s an experienced merc, she’s the one who helped me get my Warhorse back” The woman was about to argue when Mitch and Scorpion come from the back, joining the group “Hey V, how’s it going?” Scorpion greets and Mitch nods to her “It’s good to see you, Panam told you what we’re up against?” before V could reply, Panam intervenes “V, you remember Mitch and Scorpion. This lady here is our best techie, Carol. That’s Bob and Teddy over there, and that silver fox over there is the fastest gun in the Aldecaldos, Cassidy… Everyone, this is V” V finally addresses the nomads “It’s nice to meet you” sweet, simple, and brief. Before anything else happened, the arguing and bickering came back in full force. Most of the veterans wanted to go and grab Saul from the Wraiths, but V learned that the Aldecaldos had an issue: Most of their gear and supplies were still in Arizona, with the rest stuck at the border. If they made a move to retrieve Saul, they would leave the camp undermanned and under-equipped. V noticed Mitch studying her as the arguing continued, maybe he was waiting for her to make a mistake, or maybe he was just trying to ascertain if she was as good as Panam said she was.
“We know where he is, the Raffen took over an old abandoned corpo cement factory and made camp there, we’re flying a drone over there at the moment, have a look, but be brief, remote links suck the battery’s life dry faster than a two eddies hooker in Northside” smirking, V takes the remote shard, her Kiroshis linking directly to the drone. It was basically a repurposed surveillance drone with added cloaking devices, so it could fly over the camp without being seen, heard, or detected. The cement factory was crawling with Wraiths, and there was a big, repurposed Militech transport that the nomads had guessed was the one they used to transport Saul. There was no sight of him, but there was a control center for all the surveillance on site. After studying the entrances and possible exit points, V disconnects from the link.
“So, what do you think?” Panam asks, the veterans looked at her waiting to either agree or argue with her. V breathed in, and then sighed “It’s not my call to make” she simply stated, she could feel Panam groaning “Yes but I mean… Getting in, finding Saul, can it be done?” V nods “It can be done, and there are two ways to do it, I don’t think you, chooms, are going to like either one of them” Scorpion leans forward at the improvised table “Let’s hear it” he says. V looks at Panam, then at the rest of the nomads “The first way is the one you probably have already considered, take a team, wage war against the Wraiths, and while they are distracted, infiltrate, get Saul out, and once he’s out, we all leave. That doesn’t mean we’re home free, those chooms won’t give up a hostage like Saul, especially if they know he’s the leader” The second she finished, Carol and Teddy started arguing against that idea, V understood where they were coming from, leaving the camp unprotected was risky, and for all they knew, it was what the Raffen wanted. “Hold on now” Cassidy had been silent until now, he got the attention of the rest of the veterans as he looks at V “What about the other way? What’s your idea?” V looks at them and nods “Two-person team, one transport. I noticed the structure is not as sound, one could infiltrate the facility here, use the shipment containers as cover and make it to the control room, locate Saul and go from there… There’s a sewer exit on the other side, and if there’s a sewer exit, there’s sewer access. The transport moves to that area, and we make it out, hopefully, this won’t alert any of them and we just disappear without a trace”.
V looks at the veterans, they were considering their options “That way, you keep your gear, and you watch over the camp, once we make it out, we can meet at a rendezvous point and take it from there” the veterans continued to consider her words, finally, Mitch breaks the silence “Can you do it? Infiltrate the camp, find Saul, and get him out of there?” V thinks for a moment “I’ve never gone against the Raffen on my own, but I have skills that I didn’t have back then and upgrades that I never even dreamed of getting… I can do it” Neither of the veterans thought her words were very assuring “But if you have someone else in mind, I’ll step aside” Mitch looked at Scorpion, and then at Panam, he finally nodded “Alright V, come with me, you too Panam”.
Mitch guided Panam and V to the back, where a van awaited them “I’ve been working on this for a while now, a hobby of mine. You should take this. They know Panam’s ride, and your bike isn’t gonna cut it if you expect to make it out of there carrying other two people with you, one of which I’m fairly certain will be in bad shape” V took a look at the van, it wasn’t anything special, but it’d do “Which is why, you should take this” Mitch offers an airhypo to V, she blinks, looking at it “It’s a rhino dose” Mitch explains “Wraiths have probably tortured Saul all day, this will give his heart a kick in the pants and the extra oomph to get going” V takes the injector and nods, Panam wastes no time and gets in the van “Then we’re off, the sooner we get on our way, the sooner we can bring Saul back” Mitch nods stepping back, V gets in the van too “Be careful you two, we’ll be waiting to hear from you”.
The ride was tense. V learned from Panam that Saul was a hero to her and many other younger Aldecaldos, there was no challenge he wouldn’t take, no job he would refuse. He once went against the Raffen Shiv after he learned they had kidnapped dozens of refugees and prevailed. He didn’t do it for money or recognition or even gear, he did it because it was the right thing to do. She admired him, but she also hated what he had become. He was playing it safe, always trying to get corporate contracts, and because of that attitude, she oftentimes clashed against him, and that was the reason why she had left. She felt she was right and he was wrong, but when she didn’t see anyone from the family supporting her, she started to think she was wrong. And she still felt that way. The only reason why she was here, with V, was because she couldn’t turn her back on the people she called her family for all of her life. V reasoned that as Saul grew older, he probably appreciated more security for his family and he was genuinely trying to do right by them, forming a legacy. Something that Panam hadn’t considered herself,
When they were approaching the location, they ran into something they hadn’t taken into consideration: A massive sandstorm. It was still far off, but it was picking up power and speed. “That’s going to complicate things…” Panam mutters “Only if we don’t move fast enough… We make this right and that storm is going to be our cover into safety, no way the Wraiths follow us, and if they wait, the storm will clear our tracks” Panam grins as she steps on the gas “I like the way you think V, you remind me of me” V chuckles “I am not sure the world is ready for two of you, Panam”.
They stopped some distance away from the factory, far enough for them to take cover and study the location “You remember the plan?” V asks, Panam nods “Once you move out, I’ll take the van, I’m dialing you so we’re in communication” V nods, setting her eyes on the factory “Then let’s move, we’ve got a storm to ride” as soon as V started to move, she engaged her Active Camouflage and headed to the side of the factory, her Reinforced Tendons made climbing up the wall and easy task, but not only that, she was used to the additional speed and agility that came with those implants. It wasn’t long until she got Panam’s call “How are things going in there?” Panam asks “Just got past the wall, makin’ my way inside” Panam nods “I’m running a scan on this side, no one here, found the sewers, hurry up, the storm is picking up”. Panam wasn’t lying, the skies started to darken and V had to pick up the pace, but if she did, nearby Wraiths would hear her.
She entered the main building, which looked like a maintenance wing, one of the Wraiths was making his way out “Hey! Lars! The boss says to take the Leviathan and any other vehicles and to move ‘em inside! There’s a storm coming!” remembering what she saw with the drone, she takes a left once inside, the stairs leading to what she presumed was the control center, and she was right, several cameras in the facility were controlled from there, and there was a Wraith on watch duty. With one swift move, V approached and deployed her Monowire, the wire choked out the Wraith almost instantaneously. Carefully and as fast as she could, she put the body in a locker and hacked into the console afterward, she started to check every camera. “V, any luck?” V didn’t reply immediately, she was still cycling through the cameras, until she found a severely beaten up and barely conscious Saul “Found him, looks like he’s in some kind of basement, I’m going in”.
V left the control center and went downstairs again, she saw an additional flight of stairs that went underground, and there was a significant amount of dust and sand flying outside, signaling that the storm had finally arrived.
The basement was poorly lit, it was a warehouse facility that the Wraiths had repurposed and used to rip implants from unfortunate victims. V gritted her teeth, these people were just the same as the Scavvers. She proceeded further and found another Wraith sitting at the computer, he was just going through different camera feeds. She repeated the same dosage: Strangling, and hiding the body. She waited for a moment, there was no alarm, no sudden movements, she hadn’t been detected. Walking past the last door, she arrived at the location she had seen on camera, an old reflector connected to a battery was the only source of light in the place. “Saul?” she whispers as she disengages the Active Camouflage and approaches the man on the chair “Saul? Can you hear me?” the man writhes and groans “I told you fuckers… A tall glass of hooch, and two ladies to keep me company… or I’m not givin’ you shit and you can fuck off” V breathes out in relief “Panam, I found him” Panam immediately replies “Is he…?” V shakes her head “He’s alive, he just asked for some booze and two ladies for company” Panam smirks “Yeah, that’s Saul alright… Alright, find your way out of there as fast as you can, the storm is gonna make it difficult for us to leave”.
V approaches Saul again “Saul, we’re gonna get you out of here” The man is groggy, trying to look at V “We…? Who’s… We?” V gets the injector out “Panam is here, she’s waitin’ for you, we gotta delta” She untied Saul’s hands while she aimed at his heart with the injector “P-Panam? But… She left…” He couldn’t finish the sentence as V injected him with the airhypo. Saul gasped for air with an expression of intense pain, V feared that Mitch might have overdone it “Saul?” he finally settles in, holding his chest “I fucking hate that…” He looks at V “Who are you? You a merc?” V nods but she starts to scan the area “I’m with Panam, we gotta find a way out of here” Saul finally stands up “Any of those Raffen saw you come in?” she shakes her head “None, but I had to take two of them out” Saul groans, looking in the area “Then we don’t have a lot of time… I remember seeing some Raffen using another access, it was quicker to get to the outside…” V walks forward, drawing her gun “I should go first, if there’s trouble, I’ll get them” Saul grumbles “Look, kid, I might be old, but this isn’t my first rodeo, and I—” V interrupted “Don’t even have a gun, lemme take point, choom” Saul groans, finally agreeing.
The door Saul mentioned led to a pipe, which was the sewer exit V was hoping for. After traversing through the dark path, they came out just outside the factory, and the van was not parked too far. The storm had picked up, and the visibility was reduced “There’s our ride, c’mon Saul, I’ll cover you” As soon as she saw them, Panam opened the door and started the van, V rushed right after Saul and they took off. The storm was hitting in full force, and all the Wraiths had retreated inside the factory to ride it out. Meanwhile, Panam had limited visibility, but she remembered the road.
“I thought you had left, I thought we weren’t good enough for you” Saul went immediately after Panam, V could hardly believe it “Oh, here we go… Saul, for fucks sake, just because we disagree doesn’t mean I stopped caring about the clan! And that includes you!” Saul was sitting on the floor of the van, his hand rubbing his chest “Yeah? You care so much you had to hire a fuckin’ merc to meddle in our affairs?” before Panam could say anything, V intervened “She didn’t hire me, she asked me for a favor, I agreed, she’s not payin’ me an eddie, chill choom” Saul scoffs “Besides, you know damn well most of our gear is still out there, we would have a bunch of dead Aldecaldos in the middle of a fucking storm if it wasn’t for V” Saul simply grumbled, he gave V a long, hard look but said nothing. He finally moved to the front “There’s an abandoned farm nearby, it’ll be hard to see, but I remember where it is, best to ride the storm out there, just in case” Panam nods in agreement. The van continued to move through the mother of all sandstorms until they arrived at their destination.
The storm had gotten somehow worse, the second the van’s doors opened, V was certain it was going to flip “We gotta get indoors! Come on, this way!” Saul guided both Panam and V inside the rundown house and they immediately set on what was once a living room. “We made it!” Panam said, looking at the place “Not a lot to look at, huh? Guess we can thank Biotechnica for that one too” Saul groans, plopping on one of the chairs “Don’t you fuckin’ start Panam, not now” Panam just chuckles, but Saul started to shiver “So… Cold” Panam frowns “V, can you help me outside before the storm gets any worse? See if the generator is disconnected, I’ll see if I can work something out here” V nodded and stood up, not wanting to get in the middle of whatever argument Saul and Panam had going on. The storm was still raging outside, V made her way to the generator outside and connected it as soon as she could. When she returned to the home, she noticed a sign “Property bought by Biotechnica” She smirked to herself, thinking that maybe Panam really knew what she was talking about.
As soon as she got inside, power in the house was in working order again, there was a heater that she had placed near Saul, Panam was smiling “Look what I found!” she says showing V a bottle without a label, a quick scan from V suggested that the bottle had liquor in it, but the scanning itself was inconclusive “Come sit, let’s have a round!” V just chuckled as she sat next to Panam “I don’t know, that bottle looks older than me” Saul reached for the bottle and gave it a long swig, making a face after he was done, returning the bottle to Panam “Not bad, I just need the company now” he says grinning. Panam takes the bottle and gives it a swig, offering it to V afterward, it wasn’t terrible liquor, she thought, but she had the strange feeling that she would spend the following morning with a splitting headache.
“We have to talk” Saul says, looking at Panam “I guess we do” she replies, V was once again in the middle of it, and there was a literal storm outside keeping her in place. “Panam, you’re an Aldecaldo, you’ll always be an Aldecaldo, but this whole gig of you riding my ass for any and all decisions I make is getting very old, and very tiring, you know I only want what’s best for the family, right?” Panam sighs, looking at Saul “Becoming dependent on a corporation it’s not what’s best for the family, corporations will only take away our freedom and our own identity, we’ll just be known as the help, nothing more” Saul tries to justify himself, but his tone may have come across a bit stronger than he intended “A Biotechnica contract offers stability and income, Panam, we wouldn’t have to resort to banditry or taking jobs for anyone else” there was an awkward silence before Panam speaks “Why don’t you ask V what she thinks?” V’s eyes widen, looking at Panam “Panam, I-I don’t think—” Saul intervenes “The merc? Why would I ask her about matters of our family? She wouldn’t understand” and before V could say anything else, Panam continued “Because she too is a nomad, she understands more than you think”.
Silence again, Saul looked at V “What clan do you ride with?” V shakes her head “I don’t ride with any clan” Saul groans “Alright smartass, what clan DID you ride with?” V looked at Panam, and then at Saul “The Bakkers” Saul winced momentarily, leaning against his chair “I… Heard they joined with Snake Nation” V nods slowly “They did”. There was another awkward silence “If you don’t mind me asking, what happened?” V looked at Saul “It was years in the making, indecisive leadership, every time a new leader was voted in, there were wages, betting how long will they last. It got so bad that some people stopped keepin’ track of who was a leader and who wasn’t, they simply called them ‘The Boss’ and left it at that, it was easier that way. Recruitment went down, desertions went up, and sabotage too, some of the Bakkers would finish jobs, take the money and leave. The previous leader to the last one simply upped and disappeared one day, didn’t even bother taking his stuff” V sighs, leaning against the seat too “Snake Nation had been in touch with Osiah, the last leader, and finally convinced him to put the matter to a vote, to decide whether the Bakkers joined with Snake Nation, if the clan was dissolved, or whatever else they had in mind” Saul looked at V, with some sympathy in his face “Were you there when the vote was held?” she nods again “I was” Saul glanced at Panam, and then at V “What did you do?” V scoffs “What could I do? I grew up with the Bakkers, they all raised me, but I wasn’t a veteran, I wasn’t gonna vote, but I wasn’t gonna join Snake Nation either… So I took one final job from our clan fixer and left, never looking back” Saul kept looking at V “Did you say goodbye to them?” she shakes her head “No… If I had done that, I wouldn’t have left, and I’d have stayed with them, and be miserable” She looks at Saul now “There’s a point of no return, every clan member sees it, and when you cross it, you have to take a decision, you either stay, roll with the punches, and adapt… Or you leave, with one shot at making a life and a name for yourself”.
“This is different V, Biotechnica works on the outskirts of cities, they have farm programs, and they always look for nomads for work” V nods to Saul’s words “The same can be said for SovOil and Petrochem, they are always looking for nomads, nomads know how to move everything without problems, nomads will take farming jobs, guarding jobs, everything the corporation can offer… But there’s always a dark side to everything, Saul, nomads don’t have anyone looking after them in the city, if an entire clan disappears no one will bat an eye, and sure as shit no one is coming to help you. Even after working for years with these corps, I never had the feeling I could just blindly trust them, and if you decide to become exclusive to them, you will lose your spirit, your identity, and your name, just like…” she stops herself, Saul and Panam looking at her “Like the Bakkers” completes Saul, V just chuckles, Saul stands up “I’m gonna see if I can get some sleep… You’ve given me lots to think about… But Panam, you and I aren’t done, not by a long shot”.
There was an awkward silence between V and Panam, especially after that exchange “I’m sorry I dragged you into that argument” Panam says as V sighs “I’d appreciate a warnin’ or somethin’ next time, it’s something I don’t enjoy” Panam nods “If there’s a next time, I’ll let you know… So… You and Jackie, something happened?” V turns to look at Panam “Why’d you ask?” Panam shrugs “Oh, you know… You and he work together, it’s hard to imagine you two working far from each other” V sighs again “We had an argument, I was roped into a corpo contract, and learned a few things I wished I hadn’t learned from Jackie, and… We’re takin’ a break, from one another” Panam blinks, now understanding why V looked so jaded “Aren’t you worried about him? He hasn’t been picking up his holo, what if something happened to him?” V rests her head against the seat “Then Misty, his girl, will call me or drop me a line or something, I wouldn't worry” Panam stops in her tracks “His… Girl?” V’s eyes open widely, as if she had realized something “Wait, you didn’t know?” Panam blushed and V finally understood why she was the second option for this rescue mission “H-he never said anything about a girl… I thought he was… y-you know…” V suddenly took a lot of interest in the conversation “That he was… what?” she presses, Panam averts her gaze “You know, c’mon V, you know what I mean” V grinned “I sure as shit don’t choom, so you thought he was… What?” Panam finally faces V “Single, alright!? I thought he was single”.
V blinked for a few seconds, looking at Panam “Seriously?” Panam blushed and averts her gaze as V looks around as if keeping watch for Saul, she then whispered “Panam, we double-teamed you at the Sunset Motel, we both got fucked all night long and part of the mornin’, you got what I got, and I got what you got… And you thought he was single?” if she weren’t so exhausted she would be laughing “I-I t-thought you guys were just… Y’know, very good friends… The kind of friends who share e-everything” V was amused, looking at Panam, she was definitely enjoying herself “Panam, as much as a badass smuggler and sniper you are, you’re too fucking precious” Panam covered herself with her jacket as much as that would allow “I’m getting some sleep, you should do the same” she said, trying to change the topic, V finally smirks, shaking her head “Yeah, go ahead choom… Seems this storm is here to stay”.
A couple of hours later, V couldn’t sleep. She made her way to the bathroom. Most of the mirror was still there, and to her surprise, there was still some running water. She removed her jacket finally breathing out and looked at the running water, perhaps it was not the cleanest, and she doubted that the water there was even processed. “I wouldn’t do it if I were you” she hears behind her, Saul was up and leaning against the door frame “Hey Saul, feeling better?” the man rubs his chest “I still feel a bit of pressure, like if some borgbeast was standing on my chest, but I’m feeling better, how about you? Couldn’t catch any sleep?” V shakes her head “Nah, I always had trouble sleeping in new places, had to get used to them first” Saul nods in understanding “I know what you mean, it’s the same with us when we find a place like this, we’re used to sleeping in the open… Listen, I wanted to apologize” V blinks, looking at him “Apologize?” Saul nods “My beef with Panam, sometimes I get so fired up that there are tons of collateral, you know? I didn’t mean to bring you into it or make you reminisce part of your past you’re trying to keep behind you, it wasn’t my place” V shakes her head again “You got nothin’ to apologize for, if what happened to me can inspire you to truly look for what’s right for your family, I’ll be satisfied” Saul nods “I appreciate it nonetheless… Seems the storm is still ragin’ outside” he says, the roof still shaking, although not shaking enough to warrant an emergency “Yeah, and Panam is out cold too” V adds, Saul smirks looking at V now that she had removed her jacket “That girl sleeps like a log… Seems we’re gonna be here a while still, I sure wish I had those two ladies for company” V grinned, looking at the nomad leader “Would one work out for you?” Saul steps forward, taking a good look “It’d be a start”.
Panam woke up to strange bashing noises, she was disoriented for a few seconds “V?” she called, but there was no answer. The power was still running, and the heater was still on “Saul?” she calls again as she finally stands up. The roof was still shaking, but the beating sound was getting louder as she started to walk toward the bedroom, and when she was about to call for V again, she stopped. A naked and sweaty V was riding Saul. The bed was beating against the wall, which is what woke her up. V was grinding her hips against Saul and Panam could clearly see her exposed body. Saul’s hands were on V’s tits, fondling them. Panam gasped, stepping back, she didn’t know what to do, or say, should she go back to sleep and wake up once the storm was over and pretend nothing happened? That seemed like a solid plan, but there was something in the back of her head that forced her to stay and watch.
Quietly, Panam returned to the doorframe, being careful that they wouldn’t see her. They had been going at it for some time now, and Saul was puffing and thrusting. Panam knew of the reputation he had, Saul was a horndog, and what he said of wanting two ladies for company wasn’t exactly just a joke. Panam set her eyes on V, she was moaning and begging for more, feeling Saul ramming her from below. Panam was mesmerized by her curves, especially her tits, she didn’t notice when her own hand trailed to her chest and started to touch her breast.
Panam lowered her pants, her body suit hugged her forms and as she started to play with herself, she heard V climax, but that didn’t stop Saul, he grabbed V from her hips and kept thrusting. The scent of sex permeated the room and slowly got to Panam, who had now undone her body suit and had moved to the side of the doorframe, staying out of sight, but still hearing the moans of a sex-crazed V, and one aroused Saul. Panam parted her pussy lips and slid two fingers inside of her. She muffled her moan with her other hand, she started to gyrate her hips as she kept fingering herself, she leaned to the side, catching a glimpse of the scene in the bedroom. V was now on all fours and Saul was railing her from behind. V’s inaudible moans overpowered Saul’s, and they kept getting louder and louder until they threatened to overpower the storm itself. Panam couldn’t look away from V, seeing her ass and tits jiggle with every thrust immediately transported her to that night in the Sunset Motel
She couldn’t take it anymore, she bit her bottom lip and her second hand was now playing with her tits, pinching her nipples as she kept fingering herself. She hoped that she could muffle her own moans, she didn’t want either Saul or V to hear her. Or maybe that’s exactly what she wanted. With the scene taking place just a few meters from her and her vivid memories from the Sunset Motel, Panam was at the edge of pleasure, she could still feel Jackie’s cock ramming her, and V’s tongue sliding into her pussy, and she could still see over her shoulder and see Jackie behind her, pumping her harder and harder until he blew his load and made her climax too. The thoughts, the smells, and the sights pushed her over the edge and made her cum. Biting her bottom lip hard, she managed to muffle the moan. Her legs were shaking, her breath was labored, and she was burning up. She looked into the room one more time, seeing Saul’s hands holding V’s ass tightly as he arches his back and blows his load inside of her. Panam knew that was her cue to leave and as silent as she could, she returned to the living room, put her gear back on, and fell asleep again, or at least tried to.
V woke up the following day in the living room, she groans as she stands up. She heard voices outside, she saw Panam sitting on the porch, Teddy looking into the van and evaluating the damage, and Cassidy checking Saul’s wounds “Hey V, good morning” Panam calls, as V yawns “Hey Panam, slept well?” she asks as Panam smiles “Like a baby” V then sits next to her “What’s gonna happen now?” she asks, curious as Panam shrugs “Dunno, but you heard Saul, he wants to have that conversation the second we get to camp” V winced, she had enough about clan talk for a while “Teddy, Scorpion, and Cassidy are here, Scorpion brought your bike, but if you wanna come to camp with us, you’re welcome to” V shook her head “I think I had my fill of politics for the day, ‘sides, I gotta get some grub” Panam stands, looking at V “Walk with me, V”.
V follows her to a motorcycle “What you did for us today, no one would have done it, especially just as a favor to us… I’m in your debt” V shakes her head “You’re not in any debt, I told Saul before, we’re chooms, this is what chooms do” Panam smirks “Careful, I’ll take your word for it and have you come to camp every two days” V smiles as they both look at the van, especially at Cassidy checking Saul “Listen V, about Jackie…” V turns to Panam, wondering what was that about “I know sometimes we find out things about friends that may be a bit too much to process… But if you still feel like he can be a friend to you like you can be a friend to him… You should talk to him” V folds her arms on her chest, looking at Panam, and finally smirking “Right back at you, choom” Panam blinks and blushes “Panam, you clearly feel something for the guy, I don’t know what is it you want, if you just want to fuck around every now and then, I’m pretty sure he’s open to that… Fuck, it’s what I do” Panam blushes some more, remembering what she saw the night before “But if you have this idea that you’ll get into a formal relationship… You know, input and output… I… Wouldn’t hope for it” Panam looks at V again, almost as if asking a question “As much as he fucks around, he always goes back to Misty, at this rate I’m almost positive Misty knows of his escapades, and is just happy he always comes back home to her, and honestly… I don’t think he’ll jeopardize that kind of relationship, y’know?” Panam fell silent, she was still processing “Alright, lemme ask you something… Do you wanna mess around with Jackie, or are you hoping for something else?” Panam looks at her again “I don’t know, I honestly don’t know… I mean, that night at the Sunset, I loved every second of it… But… I don’t know” V nods “Well, if you figure that you just enjoy his company and want him to fuck your brains out every now and then, give him a call… If you want something else, I suggest you just work on something else”.
There was plenty Panam wanted to tell V, about Jackie, about her, and about the night before. But the conversation had become sufficiently awkward for her, she simply nodded, thanked V, and took off. Once Panam disappeared in the horizon, she returned to the other nomads, she approached Teddy “How’s it look?” she asks as Teddy was still working on the van “Well, it took a few hits, we can take it on the road, but Mitch is gonna be pissed” he then looked at V “But seeing how you guys rescued Saul, I think he won’t be that pissed… Thank you V, really” V simply nodded and smiled as she approached Cassidy and Saul “Stop fidgetin’ about” Cassidy complained “You’re doing it wrong, old man” Saul replied as Cassidy stared daggers at him “I might be old, and you might be the clan leader, but I can still kick your ass. Now hold still and stop fucking moving” V smirked as she addresses Cassidy “How is he looking?” Cassidy tips his hat upwards “Well… He’s got a wound on his arm that needs suturin’ and this stubborn oaf won’t stand still, and I’m concerned for those bruises on his chest, they look fairly recent” V blinks and clears her throat “Maybe side effects from the air hypo Mitch gave me?” Cassidy nods “Maybe, but it looks like someone was makin’ a lot of pressure on him, or he was pushin’ hard too” After the awkward theory, she turns to Saul “How are you feeling?” Saul scoffs “I keep telling this old man that I’m fine, we’re wasting time and we should make our way back to camp… But hey, merc… For what you did for me, and this family… Thank you, consider yourself a friend of the Aldecaldos, if we can ever help you in any way, all you have to do is drop me a line, alright?” Saul’s eyes glowed as he sent his number to V, she smirked not knowing if she should fully believe this friend of the Aldecaldos thing, or if he was just putting his number out there for a booty call “I’ll do that, Saul, thanks. Glad to see you’re doing better”.
And finally, she approached Scorpion, he was keeping an eye on her bike “Heard you crazy kids used the storm to make your escape” V nods “It was either doing that or risking waiting it out close to the Raffen camp, we had to make a choice” Scorpion nods smiling “You made the right choice… Here’s your ride V, took the liberty of fillin’ her up, figured it was the least we could do after you brought Saul back… You gonna head back to the city, or can I convince you to drop by the camp to celebrate?” V gets on her bike, looking at Scorpion “I wish I could head back with you chooms, but I’m on call for a long-term gig, and my contact might call me any moment now” Scorpion nods, understanding. He finally steps aside “Well, whenever you’re in the area, drop by, alright? You’re welcome to visit and you know we’ll be happy to see you. Take care V”.
V was on her way back to the city when her holo went off “Hey Judy, how are you holding up?” Judy looked at V and nodded “I’m… Okay, I think, I’m not sure V” V frowned, trying to decipher the look on her face “What’s wrong, Judy?” she instinctively felt the need to speed up “I… It’s Evelyn, I saw her, V” V didn’t know exactly what to say to that “It’s like she recognized me one second and then she didn’t… She looked different, acted different, smelled different… I think something’s very wrong with her” V finally took a breath and nodded “I was on my way to get something to eat, you wanna come along?” Judy blinked and then fidgetted for a moment “I-I don’t know…” V insisted “Well, if you’re at Lizzie’s I can probably pick something up and have lunch with you, no pressure, I just haven’t eaten since yesterday… Do you like pizza?” Judy looked sympathetic and nodded “Alright… I-I took the day off, so I’m in my apartment, I’m sending you the address, and I’ll pay you for the pizza, promise” V finally smiled “No can do, choom, my treat. I’ll go and pick it up, and then hit you up, sounds good?” Judy finally smiled “Yeah… That sounds wonderful, thank you V”.
Now more relaxed, she slows down and prepares to look for pizza parlor “It’s gonna be tough to find something that’s not fucking Buck-A-Slice” she groans as she speeds forward
