Everyone relaxed in silence for a few hours, spending time just waking up, many of the people in the camp feeling a little drowsy over having been woken up so early. Sitting in the car with Kid, Dawn began to pick up the sounds of shouts on the wind. She perked up slightly, narrowing her eyes. "Kid, stay here." She said to him, Kid nodding and watching as she got out of the Highwayman. She looked out into the distance, to the northeast. Raising a hand to her face and holding it over her eyes to help see through the sun's glaring light, she saw what appeared to be Ronald's brahmin carts, but they were raising up such a storm of dirt as they raced along that Dawn believed there may have been trouble. She reached into the backseat, grabbing her helmet, pulling it on. She grabbed her Gauss Rifle, saying "Kid, stay in here, stay low!" Kid looked at her curiously, staying in the car as she closed the door. "Dom! Libby! Marv! Krypt! Get the hell up! Ronald's on his way, but he's coming in too fast, something has to be wrong!"
Dominique bolted up from her cart, Libitina coming up a moment later, Marv peeking his head up from his cart. Dominique and Libitina got out of their carts a second later, Marv following a few moments later. Libitina was looking at the carts quickly approaching on the distance as Dominique said "Dawn, we don't have any guns, we lost them all in Vault 17!" Dawn urgently said "Grab some from the back of the car, Kid can help you!" Dominique nodded, her and the other two rushing over to the Highwayman. Kid had heard Dawn's words, having already started searching for guns. He handed a combat shotgun to Marv, finding a Beretta pistol as well as a 10mm pistol, handing them both to Dominique. Looking around a little more, Kid spotted Ace's old M79 grenade launcher, grabbing it from the duffel bag it rested within, handing it to Libitina. Libitina's eyes began to sparkle as it was put into her hands. Kid softly said "Be careful with that..." Libitina smiled broadly and nodded at him. She popped down the length of the weapon, seeing that it was empty of ammo. Libitina made a bit of a face. Kid reached around in the bag, finding several 40mm grenade rounds, just sitting around in the bag.
They were a little bit heavy, Kid grabbing three and handing them to Libitina. Libitina loaded one into the weapon, grinning as she pocketed the other two. She winked at Kid before stepping back from the car, closing the door. Dawn stood by the Highwayman's backside, by it's trunk. "Standing around in the open is the stupidest possible thing someone could do in a fight. Get behind cover, behind your carts!" Everyone nodded. Dawn looked around. "Where's Krypt?" Kid looked back through the rear windshield, shrugging gently. Dawn sighed softly, shaking her head gently. She held her Gauss Rifle at the ready, everyone else having taken cover behind their respective brahmin carts. The brahmin attached to the carts could tell that something big was coming, but they stayed still, they stayed peaceful. The shouts on the wind steadily became louder and clearer. It was Ronald. He was shouting for Dawn to be ready. "Mole rats!" He shouted. Dawn narrowed her eyes. She knew of the animals, it was hard to find someone in the wasteland that didn't know of them.
She hated the animals with a passion, they were an invasive parasite in her mind, just rushing into established towns and settlements and trying to stealthily kill and eat as many people and animals as they could. They mated and multiplied, simply spreading and spreading like infernal fiends. Dawn held her Gauss Rifle at the ready. Within hardly a minute, the carts raced into the camp. The brahmin were panting and wheezing from running so much. Ronald jumped out of his cart as soon as it began to slow down, Ice and Stitch following suit. Dawn watched as the mole rats came piling into the camp. There were eight of them then, Stitch having killed one as the whole group neared the camp. Dawn fired a quick shot at a mole rat, bursting it's skull open, bits and pieces of gore flying out on the air. Heather awoke then, crying out in fear as a mole rat bashed into her cart, trying to shake her from it. Marv punted the creature onto it's side, bursting three shotgun shells into it's underside, tearing open it's belly and killing it. A mole rat raced towards Dominique, Dominique opening fire with her pistols, hitting the mammoth rat with a good seven shots before it finally went down. The creature slid towards her in the dirt, coming to a stop at her feet.
Libitina laughed as she raised up the grenade launcher, firing the loaded shell into a group of three mole rats. Two of them were instantly blown to bloody bits, but the third had only lost one of it's hind legs, being tossed in the air for a moment before crashing back down. Dawn quickly dispatched the wounded mole rat with a powerful slug from her Gauss Rifle. She checked the magazine of her rifle. It was nearly empty, having four shots left out of it's possible twenty. Popping the magazine back in, she eyed the last three mole rats. One of them was racing towards Ice. Ice kicked up into it's face, jumping past it's body and firing down into it's head with her XL70E3 assault rifle, ending it. Libitina bashed another over the head with the stock her grenade launcher, but she cried out as it ravenously bit into her leg, her blood running down her ankle.
Ronald came over and fired at the mole rat with a 12 gauge double-barrel shotgun, hitting it in the side of it's body, tearing into it and killing it. He pulled a stimpack out of his pocket, handing it to Libitina, who, in turn, quickly used the item on herself. The last mole rat jumped up onto the hood of the Highwayman. Dawn narrowed her eyes. "The little bugger's gonna scratch the paint!" Dawn thought angrily, pointing her Gauss Rifle at the creature. Suddenly, Krypt jumped out of seemingly thin air, ramming into the creature and tackling it from the hood of the car. Dawn lowered her weapon. Krypt had the creature lying on it's back. He jammed his Wakizashi blade into it's throat, twisting the blade, the creature squirting blood out slightly and quickly dying. Stitch chuckled to himself. "That was easy." He said. Dawn smiled a little, chuckling lightly, herself.
Everyone helped move the mole rat corpses into a pile a little bit away from the camp. Kid got out of the car then, looking around. Dawn was talking to Ronald nearby. "Did you get the microfusion cells?" "That I did, Dawn." "How much could you get?" "About five hundred worth, twenty-five canisters." "Awesome, four or five canisters could charge the car up to half juice. Pass them over." Ronald pointed back to the cart he had been riding on. "I have 'em in there. Come on, the things are heavy, I don't want to carry them all by myself." Dawn and Ronald walked off to the nearby cart. Kid took the opportunity to quickly beckon Libitina over. She walked over to him, tossing the grenade launcher into the backseat of the Highwayman along with the two remaining shells she had for it. "Yeah?" She asked. Kid softly said "Could I talk to you later?...Tonight, maybe?...We'd have to be really quiet...We wouldn't be able to leave the rest, either. It'd be too suspicious." Libitina nodded. "Of course. Is there...A problem?..." Kid glanced at Dawn and Ronald, looking back to Libitina a moment later. "Sort of. We can talk later." Libitina looked curiously at him, but she nodded anyway, turning and walking away a second later.
Dawn and Ronald began to walk over, the two of them carrying a rather big burlap bag between them. When they reached the car, they set it down, Ronald raising his eyebrows at Kid in a form of greeting. Kid waved to him. Dawn opened the bag, saying "Alright...We can power the car up with the rest of the small energy cells, then use a microfusion cell or two to power it up to full capacity. Pack the rest of the cells in the trunk, and then we'll be all set to roll for the NCR. Nice." Ronald tiredly said "Right now, all I'm concerned with is having a nap. Fucking exhausted..." Dawn chuckled, looking at him. "Well, we can relax here for the rest of the day, but then we really have to move. Every day that passes only give the Scaled Hiss more time to get comfortable in New Reno." Ronald said "You know, I'm starting to doubt that the NCR will help...And if they do...You know they'll damn well want something for the help." Dawn lost her smile, nodding a little before saying "Yeah, I've thought about that. Just trust me." Ronald shrugged and turned around, heading back to his cart, stretching and yawning powerfully as he did so. He got into his cart, disappearing down into it.
Marv sat with Heather in their cart, Marv soothing Heather, Heather having grown a little frightened after one of the mole rats had tried getting to her. Stitch and Ice relaxed together with Krypt, telling him of their trip to and from Gecko with Ronald. Dominique stood by her lonesome beside her cart, simply leaning against it and looking out into the wasteland. Libitina walked over to her, talking to her, asking her if anything was wrong. Dawn popped the trunk of the Highwayman, pulling out two small energy cells, stepping over to the left side of the Highwayman, quickly using them to begin charging up the Highwayman with. "Kid, can you start tossing the microfusion cells into the trunk? Thanks." Kid nodded at her, walking over to the bag, reaching inside and grabbing two of the items he felt. They were surprisingly heavy. They were shaped as squares. Pulling them out, Kid looked at them. They were dark brown in colour, almost a sort of rusty crimson. On the top of each, there were two cylindrical objects sticking out of the cell, being rather small compared to the rest of the object. The two pieces sticking out of the top looked almost like small rods. The rod on the left was red, while the one on the right was coloured pure black.
The entire object felt like it was made of some sort of dense metal. It was about as big as his hand, Kid just barely able to hold one in one of his hands. On the front of the object was a symbol of sorts, being a yellow circle with three black sections, all the sections growing a little smaller as they pointed towards the middle of the yellow circle. Right in the very middle of the yellow circle, in the middle of all the black sections, was a simple yellow circle defined with a black line around it. Kid began to put them into the trunk one after the other until he had put all twenty-five within. He tossed the bag in, as well. Dawn just then threw away the two small energy cells she had been using to charge the car, asking Kid to pass her another two more, Kid doing so. Only about three cells were left. Eventually, Dawn had used them all on the car. She pulled her helmet off, resting it on the roof of the Highwayman. She smiled at him and said "Alright...Pass me one of the microfusion cells." Kid grabbed one, handing it to her. "You can close the trunk now." She said. Kid did as she bid, watching as she pressed the top of the microfusion cell, the part with the two small rods, into the small fuel injection port on the side of the vehicle.
A soft hum came out as the cell began to flood the car with power. Dawn smiled and said "Gotta love these things. Little self-contained fusion plants. I read a manual on them once...Interesting stuff. It's gonna take a minute for it to finish fuelling the car." Kid nodded, stepping over until he was beside her, leaning back against the car. They remained in relative silence. Dawn was holding the microfusion cell with just her left hand, keeping her right hand on her right hip. Kid was on her right side, facing in the opposite direction as her due to his back being against the car. She was on his right side, due to his positioning. After several seconds of silence, Kid looked over to her hand, her right one, the one she kept on her hip. He slowly reached a hand over, running the tips of his fingers along her forearm and wrist, bringing his hand near her own. Dawn felt his light touches, looking over to him without turning her head, looking at him through the corners of her eyes. She smiled gently. She moved her hand from her hip slightly, letting Kid take her hand in his right, locking his fingers around her gloved digits. She held his hand back, Kid smiling as he felt her fingers tighten around his.
A second later, she leaned over closer to him, bringing her head near his. Closing her eyes, she brought her face to his, surprising him with a kiss. Kid's eyes widened for a moment before Dawn kissed him again, Kid kissing her back, closing his eyes then. Dawn let out a soft breath against his face, beginning to kiss him rather passionately, Kid kissing her back with just as much zeal. She pulled back from him after another kiss, the two of them opening their eyes a little. Dawn murmured out "It's been too long...You and I haven't made love in days..." Kid blushed a little more, whispering "I know...Do you...Want to?..." Dawn only smiled at him gently in reply. Kid smiled a little, himself. She came close and gave him another quick kiss before pulling back again and murmuring "Later...Tonight...Before we head for the NCR..." Kid whispered "Won't we still be close to all the others?..."
Dawn nodded, a bit of a naughty sparkle to her eyes as she softly said "Mmmhmm...But I don't really care anymore...We'll just have to be really quiet...I can manage that, can you?..." Kid nodded gently, still blushing. Dawn grinned slightly. "Glad to hear it...We can have a private moment tonight, before we sleep..." Kid nodded, Dawn taking a step away from him, standing totally upright in her previous position once more. She smiled at him, looking at him through the corners of her eyes again, still holding his hand. A second later she looked forwards once more, Kid smiling and looking forwards once more as well, his blush finally beginning to slowly fade from his cheeks.
Just a few seconds later, Dawn pulled the microfusion cell away from the car. She tossed it into the front passenger seat, saying "It's not finished just yet, I can finish it off later on, after a bit of driving. The small energy cells more or less fuelled the car to maybe three quarters, so..." Kid nodded. Dawn then let out a gentle sigh, grabbing her helmet, putting it in the Highwayman, on the dashboard. She pulled her trenchcoat off, tossing it in the driver's seat, closing the door behind her. "I miss my old clothes...This armour is awesome, but it doesn't really show off my curves too good...I like showing off..." Kid smiled and said "I think it looks good on you." Dawn looked at him, smiling a little. "You think so, huh? Well...I'm glad you like it." Kid looked into her face for a few moments, Dawn looking back to his. Slowly, she said "...I should go talk to Dom. I won't be long." Kid slowly lost his smile, nodding gently, looking off to the side. Dawn reached a hand up to his head, affectionately running the tips of her fingers along his right cheek before turning and walking off. Kid watched as Dawn walked over to Dominique, hearing her ask if she could talk to her in private, Dominique nodding. The two of them walked off, heading a bit away from the camp for privacy.
Dawn took Dominique a little bit away from the camp, walking away from it for a minute. "What did you want to talk to me about?" Dominique asked when they finally stopped walking. Dawn glanced at the nearby camp for a moment before looking into Dominique's eyes. "I know about you and Kid. I know about what the two of you have done." Dominique's blood ran cold. Before Dominique could say anything, Dawn continued, saying "...And that's fine by me. I'm not mad. He told me about the time before you guys went down into the vault. I can understand that, I was dead...If sleeping with you made him feel better, then that's cool. But he also told me about the second time, yesterday, before we all went to sleep." Dominique quietly said "...I don't know what to tell you, Dawn...I'm sorry...I really am..." Dawn looked off to the side, staring out into the sky slightly, a little softly saying "Yeah, don't worry about it. I was just a little upset that Kid would do something like that..." Dominique softly said "Well...You know...I was the one that started it...I was the one that...Suggested we sleep together in the first place...Both times, I was the one that...Started it..."
Dawn looked into her face with a bit of surprise, her eyes going a little wide. Dominique nodded. "I started it...If I hadn't made any moves, we never would've done anything...I'm sorry, Dawn...I was the one that did the pushing...Kid never thought of cheating on you, he just went along with what I suggested...I'm sorry!..." Dawn regained her composure, taking in a deep breath, crossing her arms across her chest before slowly exhaling. "I...Didn't know that." Dawn said. Dominique slowly began to develop tears in her eyes. "Beautiful One, I never meant to cause problems between the two of you...I never wanted anyone to start hurting!...The first time, I was just trying to make him happy...He had been so sad after you were gone...And the second time, I...I admit, I just wanted him close...I had given him my virginity before we went down into the vault...I just wanted to feel him again...I'm so sorry!...Please don't hate me!..." Dawn watched as tears began to slowly run down Dominique's cheeks. Dawn kept watching Dominique cry for a few moments before looking off to the side.
Dominique raised her hands to her face, slowly beginning to sob gently. Dawn softly said "It's alright...I'm not mad, I don't hate you...But let me tell you this..." Dominique looked into Dawn's eyes, lowering her hands. Dawn narrowed her eyes gently, looking over into Dominique's. "Don't do it again. Do I make myself clear?" Dominique nodded quickly. There was something about Dawn's words that frightened Dominique, they sounded a little menacing. Dawn nodded, saying "Alright then. I don't have a problem with you for what you did, I'm not happy about it, but I can't change the past. What I can do is try to affect the future. If I find out that you and Kid have done something together after we had this little "talk", I'll be really pissed. I've given you a proper warning now, if you go against what I've said and try anything more, then we'll have a problem. You're a friend, Dom. I'm doing more for you here than I would for most people. I wouldn't warn most other people with my words, I'd just beat them to get my point across. Or, worse yet, kill them just for messing around with my man, hell, I've killed people over smaller things." Dominique sobbed softly, saying "I promise, never again!"
Dawn smiled a little and said "Good, I'm glad to hear it." Dawn noticed Dominique simply continue to cry, raising her hands to her face again. Dawn slowly relaxed, taking no joy in seeing Dominique weep. Several seconds later, Dawn took a step closer to Dominique, raising a hand to her shoulder. "Hey, hey...Come on...There's no need to cry any more...I told you, I'm okay with it, just don't do it again...Come on..." Dominique sobbed out "I didn't mean to...To hurt anyone!...I'm so sorry!..." Dawn gently pulled Dominique a little closer, wrapping her arms around her shoulders, hugging her comfortingly. "Come on, Dom...It's alright now...No need to cry..." Dominique kept her hands near her face, her frontside pressing close to Dawn's, not fighting against Dawn's embrace. "I'm so sorry!!..." Dominique sobbed, a bit louder this time. Dawn raised a hand to the back of Dominique's head, rubbing along her soothingly, running her gloved hand through Dominique's mildly-curly blonde hair. "I know you are, I know you are..." Dawn said softly, keeping the side of her face down on Dominique's head, trying to get her to relax.
Realizing that Dawn and Dominique had both been gone for longer than he had initially believed, Kid beckoned Libitina over. She walked up to him quietly. Kid said "Alright, I figure now would be a good time to talk, seeing as how Dawn and Dom have b-been gone for a few minutes. I want to talk about "us"." Libitina looked at him curiously. Kid said "We can't..." Kid sighed softly. "We can't mess around anymore...We can't do anything together anymore." Libitina looked at Kid curiously, her eyes going a bit sad. "Wha?...Why not?" She asked. Kid softly said "I think Dawn might be getting suspicious!...I don't want to risk anything..." Libitina nodded gently, saying "...Yeah, alright...I understand...I don't want to cause problems for you guys...But...Can I ask you to promise me something?..." Kid nodded, saying "Sure." Libitina held her hands together over her stomach, shuffling her feet a little as she quietly asked "Can you promise me that...What went on between us...You'll keep it a secret?...Can you promise me you won't tell a soul?..." Kid nodded, smiling. "Can you promise me the same?" Libitina nodded, smiling a little then, saying "I promise. It was nice...I wish we didn't have to end anything..." Kid sighed slightly.
Libitina looked into his eyes. "Do we really have to end it all forever?...I still want to repay you for helping me before..." Kid looked back to her eyes. Her pretty painted face once again made Kid really realize how cute she was. Her fiery red hair trembled gently as a breeze picked up and blew along the camp. He said "...I don't know...I don't want anything to happen. I'll have to think about it...And even if we did something more, it'd have to be the very end of it all. I mean it Libby, it'd have to be the very end of it all. I'm sorry...But I don't want any problems between me and Dawn. Okay?" Libitina nodded quickly, smiling gratefully, saying "Alright, I can accept that!...When you come to a decision...Come tell me...Okay?..." Kid nodded, saying "I will." He noticed Dawn and Dominique beginning to return to the camp, saying "Dawn's coming back...Talk about something else." Libitina smiled and seamlessly continued, saying "Do you think we'll be heading out soon? I'd love to get a move on." Kid smiled and said "We should be here for one more day before moving on, I heard Dawn and Ronald talking about it." Libitina nodded and said "Ooh, I can't wait to get back out there, sitting around here has got me bored..."
Kid noticed Dawn helping Dominique into her cart, Dawn beginning to walk over towards the two of them afterwards. Kid said "Oh, I know...Hanging around here has got me sort of restless." Dawn walked up to them, saying "Hmm?...Talking about getting out there again?" Libitina nodded and smiled, Kid saying "Yeah...We're both kind of bored just hanging around here. Getting on the move again would be nice." Dawn smiled and said "Well, soon enough, soon enough...You guys hungry? I could use some breakfast..." Libitina said "Mmm, yeah...Some food would be great right about now..." Dawn looked to Kid, Kid nodding and saying "Yeah, I'm kind of hungry, too..." Dawn smiled happily and said "Well, I'm about to start cooking some stuff. You guys want to help?" They both nodded, Libitina enthusiastically saying "Sure!" Dawn turned and headed off for a nearby cart, Kid and Libitina heading for the fire pit, Dawn grabbing a bag of food and walking over to them. "What are we going to make?" Kid asked. Dawn smiled and said "Good ol' brahmin steaks. I never get tired of the stuff. If I knew how to prepare it properly, we could even have some meat off the mole rats, but I don't really know how to do it right...Anyway...I forgot to grab some flint and some plants, Libitina, do you know where the stuff is?"
Libitina nodded, walking off to a nearby cart. While she was gone, Dawn prepared the fire pit, setting up the rods that held up the plate that the food sat upon. Libitina returned with a small rock of sorts along with several small plants, mostly cacti, as well as a few small twigs and branches, the wood looking rather dead and perhaps even rotten. Libitina set all of the plants, cacti, and branches in the fire pit, Dawn taking the flint and striking it against one of the metal rods a few times, sparks flying into the pit and beginning to burn it's contents. Eventually, a nice fire was going, the flames licking along the bottom of the metal plate that the rods held up. Dawn opened up the bag of food, taking out a hunk of meat wrapped up in some kind of see-through plastic sheet. She laid the meat down on the plate, hearing it sizzle. Kid and Libitina sat by the pit, watching the fire, sitting a little close together while Dawn watched over the brahmin steaks.
"God damn fucking ghouls!!" Harlot shrieked, beating back a ghoul with the butt of her Ruger. They were atop a large hill under the scorching sun, nearly fifteen ghouls surrounding them, sending up the scent of rotting flesh. Cain was spraying out a stream of fire as ghouls shuffled towards them. The ghoul Harlot had butted screeched and ran up to her surprisingly quickly, trying to tackle her to the ground. Harlot pushed it back. A ghoul came out of the side and bashed into Cain, biting through his shirt and into his shoulder. "Fucking crazies!" He shouted, backhanding the ghoul before turning his flamethrower on it, setting it alight. Harlot fired out, spraying bullets quickly, putting down a few ghouls. A ghoul rushed out of seemingly no where and punted Harlot between her legs. Harlot's eyes went a bit wide as she collapsed to her knees on the ground, gritting her teeth in pain, her face flushing with a bit of red. Cain noticed the ghoul that had kicked Harlot getting over her, pulling her head back, wanting to seemingly bite into her throat. Cain quickly stepped over, kicking into the ghoul's head and sending it away from her.
He helped her stand for a second before spraying out with his flamethrower once more. "Aw, fuck!...Motherfucker hit me right in the cunt!..." Harlot grimaced, holding her weapon tight as she stood up by Cain, firing out again. "Come on! We have to move, The Den ain't far!" Cain said. Harlot began to limp along, Cain moving with her. He began to run a little faster than her, Harlot saying "C...Cain, wait for me, I can't run so good!" Cain quickly set most of the ghouls alight, the rest staying back and avoiding the jets of flame. Cain barked into her face as she limped up to him. "Just because you have a pussy doesn't mean you need to be one! Fucking move, Harlot!" Harlot found energy in his words. She began to ignore the pain throbbing through her, running alongside Cain, the two of them fleeing the remaining ghouls and continuing to head north...
Marv came back to Heather. Nobody had noticed, but he had slipped away shortly after helping moving the corpses of the mole rats. Heather whispered to him as he got back in the cart. "Did you eat him?" She asked. In a hushed tone, Marv said "Some of him." Marv lay down on his back by the sitting Heather, resting against some of the covered goods in the cart. "I'm okay now...I'm not hungry anymore..." Heather smiled and said "That's good...Dawn just started cooking some stuff with the rest...She asked me just a few minutes ago if I was hungry, and I am, so...I'll be eating with them when the food's ready..." Marv nodded, saying "That's good..." The two of them remained in silence for a minute or so. Eventually, Marv felt Heather begin to move around. A second later, she was cuddling up to his right side, curling herself up into a small ball. Marv moved his right arm away from his side, Heather cuddling up to him a little more, resting with him under the shine of the sun above. Resting his arm by her back, he felt Heather breathing peacefully. Another minute or so passed before he heard Heather ask a question. "Marv...Have you ever kissed a girl?..."
Marv raised an eyebrow. "That's a weird question." He said. Heather shifted around slightly by his side, but didn't really move anywhere. "Just wondering..." She said softly. Marv asked "Why are you wondering? Worried about the romance in my life, or, rather, lack thereof?" Heather didn't understand the last little bit of what he had said, but she understood the first bit. Again, she softly said "Just wondering, Marv..." Marv smiled a little then. "Do you really want to know?" Heather hesitated, but after a moment, she nodded confidently. Marv smiled and said "...No. I haven't. Being a cannibal sort of limits my options when it comes to communicating with people...I always have to keep it a secret, and it's always threatening to ooze to the surface, it urges me to...Do things I'm not very proud of." Heather said "So...You've never had a girlfriend?...Normal friends?...Nothing?..." Marv shook his head. "The only friends I ever had were my brothers and sisters, but I left them behind...I'm not sad about it, either. I'm better off without them...But...As for a girlfriend?...No. Never. Never had the chance to, I've never known a girl for long enough, either I've eaten her or just left her behind when I fled to a new town."
Heather softly said "...What about me?...I'm a girl...I've been your friend for a while now...A-And there's Dawn, Libby, Dom...They're girls...Are they your friends?..." Marv simply smiled a little. "Yeah...I guess they are. And you?...You're the closest friend I have..." Heather closed her eyes and smiled happily, her pale cheeks turning a little pink. "You're all I have, Marv...Nothing can hurt me as long as I'm with you..." She reached an arm across his stomach, hugging herself against his side. Marv stayed silent for a few seconds before whispering "I'll always keep you safe..." Heather brought her hand up slightly, resting it in the middle of his chest. Marv brought his left hand over, resting it on her's, feeling her push her thumb up on to his hand, holding his hand slightly. They stayed in silence, the smell of cooked meat beginning to waft around the camp...
