Chance followed Ester as they walked up the trail leading to Ikana Canyon. When they got to a tall cliff that blocked their way, he looked around and took notice of a pair of spirits floating at the edge of the cliff. Nudging Ester, he pointed up to them and used his keaton senses get a look at who they were.
"I'm telling you, the Gibdos being gone doesn't mean we're safe! there are some strange creatures out that not even I can identify even with all my father's research." A woman said to a figure that was dangling it's legs over the ledge of the cliff.
"I know, I know! but something tells me I need to stay here right now for a reason. Look, if I promise to come back to the house when the first sign of travelers come this way, will you go back to the house and wait for me? I couldn't live with myself if my girlfriend got hurt." The figure answered in a male voice. That was when Chance got a good look at him. Apparently he was wearing a purple robe and had... wait... was that only ONE EYE???
"Ok, creepiness aside, how do we get up there when he can't see us? Hmmmm..." Chance thought about it for a moment, then a thought struck him. "I wonder if he'd be able to see us if we... no, we'd need to have a way to be normal. I guess we should head back to Clock Tow-"
"Hey guys! what's up?" Shadow Ester said, walking up behind them, making Chance leap several feet in the air and let out a yelp of surprise, which had the added effect of the keaton mask falling off. This in turn made the spirit on the cliff shout down to Shadow Ester and the newly appeared-in-his-vision Chance. "Hey! you two! Correct me if I'm wrong, but would you happen to have a Garro mask on you? you'll need it in order to go anywhere up here."
Chance was about to say no when Shadow Ester produced said mask with a smirk on her face. "It was in Link's house. I stopped there to let him know where I was headed." She explained, then turned to the strange man. "Yeah, we've got it! is there a way up the cliff?"
"Just give me a second. Here we are!" the strange man said pulling a seed out of the folds of his robe and throwing it on the ground next to him where a tree instantly sprouted. Shadow Ester smiled. Once again having just what they needed, she pulled out a hookshot. "Hey Ester, catch!" she said, throwing a mask that even Chance couldn't identify at the cougar. It had strange markings on it that Chance found to be somewhat familiar, though that didn't make him any less suspicious.
"Where did you get that?" he asked cautiously.
"The Zora Hall in a room sealed by shadow magic. It must be important if Link never bothered collecting it." was the response. After a pause she added, "It should help Ester's current predicament in twilit areas if the inscription on the pedestal was right. something about bringing the twilight to the surface. Hell if I know what that means, though!"
Ester looked up at the odd pair of spirits curiously, unable to hear what they were saying clearly enough. She watched as Shadow Ester and Chance conversed and gave her a questioning gaze. "You sure you didn't just rummage through my dad's things?" She mused in her feline voice. The mask that was thrown to her made her pause. Even Chance seemed cautious about it. Well, she figured, no harm in trying it out.
As soon as she pressed her face into the wooden mask, the searing pain flooded through her. She groaned, writhing on the ground as her body shrank and the fur and tail vanished. Her blonde hair grew out very long, nearly as long as her new tiny body. Her head in comparison was large, with big green eyes that were currently shut tight. On her body formed blue tattoo like marks, and her green gown was a tent compared to her.
Slowly Ester looked down at her Twilit body, eyes growing huge as the dress started to slip. Unlike her human form, this one emphasized her curves and bust, giving both the impression of largeness. Her whole face turned beet red as she snatched up as much cloth as she could to keep herself covered. "W-what the heck?!"
To say that Chance was shocked doesn't quite do the situation justice. Although he certainly was surprised, there was something else covering his facial expression. Something that was also betrayed at his frontal midsection area's sudden hardness. Shadow Ester frowned when she saw what had transpired once Ester put the mask on. "Damnit! Why didn't it do that to me when I tried to put it on? It's not fair!" She shouted.
Chance quirked an eyebrow at this new information. "So you're saying you attempted to wear it and it didn't work?" he asked. "Interesting. It's probably because Shadow magic and Twilit magic are too similar." He was still looking rather lustfully at the now Twilit Ester as he used his hair to climb the cliff while Shadow Ester used the hook shot. Looking down the cliff at the newly transformed Ester, he was sure this is exactly what she felt in her loins when she was a cougar. he was really having a hard time not staring at her beautiful, perfectly twili-proportionate curves...
~Stop staring at her you idiot!~ He heard a small voice in the back of his head say as he attempted to look away for the fourth time. then he fell over as though fainting from being in such close proximity to the Twilit Mask. Once again, memories started flooding his vision as he slowly stood up again. Memories he definitely didn't want. Deals he had made, people he had ripped off without a moments thought, pacts he was forced into by a man he could only assume was the fierce deity's previous wearer...
He couldn't take it. Even as he saw the purple robed man and both Esters running to him, he shrieked in agony and pain as all his misdeeds finally caught up to him. his vision blurred as the weight of his wrongs piled up, quite literally making him lose consciousness.
Yes, there was something wrong with how he looked at her new form. Thoughts of how she felt as a cougar swarmed her mind, but she tried to push that away. He wouldn't.... would he? She merely huffed at Shadow Ester's reaction. Her cheeks flushed, she kept herself covered as she climbed up with her hair, oddly as easy as riding a bike.
Unfortunately, Chance seemed far too distracted by her new look to do anything but stare. "Chance... really, knock it off." Ester shook her head, a bit annoyed. After last night, she didn't want him getting all grabby. She was still a bit uncertain about the whole 'sharing Chance' thing with Shadow Ester, and his sudden lust for her was just confusing. Was it because she had turned into a Twili? Probably, since she hadn't seen him look at her like that before. The fact that she had to change her appearance, albeit accidentally, to give him such a boner was... almost insulting. Was her Terminian body not good enough for him?
As they approached the robed man, Ester perked up, hearing a small thud. She glanced over her shoulder to see Chance slowly getting up, as if he had tripped. But... no... something was wrong. Out of seemingly nowhere, Chance let out a scream, causing Ester to run over to him, her heart racing. "Chance! CHANCE! What is it?! What's wrong?!" she shouted, shaking his now unconscious form by the shoulders. She held him on her lap, trying to get him to wake up.
Tears nearly streaming down her cheeks, she hardly noticed the other two until the robed man put a hand on her shaking shoulder, making her jolt. He picked him up carefully, then told them to follow.
*~Inner Thoughts~*
Chance was running, and what's worse, he thought he was still conscious.
"Chance!" A voice called out softly.
"No! Leave me alone! Go away!" He shrieked.
"Chance!" It was louder this time, but didn't seem to be closer or farther away.
"I said Go away you FREAK! I am not that man anymore!" he was shouting so loudly he was sure someone would come to his rescue! someone! anyone???
"COLLECTOR, YOU FORGET YOUR PLACE!" it shouted this time in the distinct voice of the Fierce Deity.
"You know what? Fuck my 'place' you over-important sealed Deity! If you care so much that it is done, WHY DON'T YOU DO IT???" he all but screamed into his thoughts.
"...
.......
.......... Do you truly wish to break our deal?" The Fierce Deity finally asked.
"...
........Yes. I love her too much to let some demonic pact get in the way."
"...
......'Bout Damn time! AWAKEN!"
Shadow Ester watched over the bed as Chance had been brought to the young woman's house whom had been asking the man to come home.
"Ugh! my head!" Chance moaned as he reached up to his forehead and sat up in the small bed he was in.
Shadow Ester looked up at him, then ran upstairs out of the basement to the others. "Ester! He's awake!" she shouted.
Ester wouldn't sit down. She couldn't rest until she knew what had happened. The other man's female friend had told her to stay on the main floor, not to worry, but she kept floating back and forth, pacing, wringing her hands. As soon as she heard footsteps racing up the stairs, she whipped around and pushed past Shadow Ester, speeding down the steps, and embraced Chance. "Chance... are you ok?" she whispered, nearly smothering him as she trembled.
