Author’s Note: Too long since
last update huh? Yea, I know. Sorry ‘bout that. Xion:
Yea, I would’ve had my errors fixed before posting if my beta reader hadn’t
dumped me and started going out with my neighbor, causing me to spiral into a
long spiral of depression and doubt over if I should continue with a story that
reminds me so much of her. Only to sigh in defeat every time I sit at my pc.
Needless to say, she broke my heart but I’m ok now… I think. Anyway, I was
going for something a little more psychotic than just bi-polar but that is
where I based her on. I hope it’s not too far out of character for her. I mean,
it’s kinda hard to tell when she only has about 100 lines of dialogue and over
half of them are grunts and screams ._.
Chapter 3: Indecision
Today was a day not unlike
others in the eyes of Tira. A strong breeze whipped through her jade tresses as
a salty spray accompanied it soon after. The soft rushing sound of waves
crashing upon a white sandy beach was almost enough to drive the manic woman to
tears; that and the salt in her eye. The ocean washed out for miles ahead of
her. Not a speck of land was there to obstruct her view of the massively blue
sea ahead of her. “It’s so… blue…”
Blushing ever so slightly as
she gazed longingly at the endless expanse of blue that seemed to blend itself
into the sky, Tira sighed with a new frustration. The water reminds me of him. Oh master, how I wish…How I wish that you
would love me as I you. Her oddly peaceful thought had been cut short by a
sound at the edge of her senses. It was a voice. A voice strangled as blood
gurgled within his thought. “Blood?” She asked to no one in particular. Then,
as if waking up from a dream, Tira’s eyes dilated as she regained focus of
herself.
The world around her was
ablaze. Remnants of straw roofs and cloth walls were being consumed by a
roaring inferno on all sides. The only sound to be heard besides the crackle
and sparks of the fire was that damned sputtering of a gravely voice.
“P-Please… Please spare m-m-me…” Looking downward to where the voice had come
from, Tira’s eyebrow raised slightly to see a man lying at her feet, broken
fingers reaching up to smear blood on her already soiled grieves in a vain
attempt at grasping her pants. “P-Please…” What
a nuisance… Lowering her gloved hand, Tira wrapped her slender fingers
around the wounded mans neck. Without the slightest bit of effort, Tira dug her
nail into his jugular, instantly silencing the pest. Lifting the bloodied digit
to her nose, Tira tasted the dark, iron flavored liquid just as several burning
support beams crashed down around her. Taking another glance at the destruction
around her, Tira sighed and calmly strolled out a freshly burnt hole in the
wall next to her. “Damn… What the hell’s wrong with me?” She asked while
slightly chastising herself for spacing out while “playing”.
He
should be here soon… Tira giggled impishly at herself. She had begun
stalking Siegfried again, staying far enough ahead of him so she could warn the
villagers in a nearby town that the Azure Knight would be coming soon. The
torment on the faces of those peons was almost as satisfying as how they ran
Siegfried out of town out of fear. Laughing loudly and doing several
cartwheels, Tira decided to rush into the forest again and wait for her quarry
to find the little “surprise” she left for him.
“How on earth had they known
about Nightmare?” Siegfried sighed deeply as he trudged the slowly darkening
forest. “It was as if they had been warned of my coming there.” Scratching his
head in annoyance, Siegfried took another deep breath only to stop dead in his
tracks. As he closed his eyes, a very familiar sent assaulted his senses. What is…? Siegfried’s eyes snapped open
as realization washed over him before he could even finish his though. Fire! Whirling around, Siegfried gazed
at the tops of the canopy of trees to find a smoke plume lifting from the
south. “Damn…” He cursed to himself as he took off in full sprint to the source
of the smoke.
The sun had almost set in the
west when an extremely winded Siegfried came face to face with the smoldering
ashes of what had been a nomadic settlement. “Gods In heaven, what happened
here?”
“I happened big boy!” She
just couldn’t help herself. That look of terror on his face had just been too
much for her. Tira sprung out of the shadows wearing a smile that would rival
the Cheshire cat in size.
“What the hell did you do
here?!” Siegfried bit out to the green imp before him. “Don’t be so serious.
You’ll get wrinkles.” She began chuckling again, enticing a loud roar from
Siegfried. He sprang forward with his sword drawn to his side, swiping at her
head in a long horizontal ark that would have be-headed her in an instant if
she hadn’t already bent her nimble body backwards to dodge the blow. “Whoa!
Looks like SOMEONE missed nap time huh?” Laughing madly again, Tira flipped
backwards several times before landing a good five yards away from the enraged
man. “Just shut up and die!” He yelled before dashing at her again, dropping
into a slide to take Tira off her feet. “Hahaha!! You’re fun when you’re
angry.” Tira purposely took the trip so she could flip over his head and land
gracefully with her back to him. “You know, these people would’ve been saved if
you had just gotten here sooner.” The obvious lie would have been caught by a
man who was thinking clearly. Siegfried however, was far beyond coherent
thought. All he knew was that this woman needed to die. Now.
Without another word,
Siegfried charged again, only to have Tira spin to his side and grab him by the
shoulder. Wrapping her boot around his legs, Tira had effectively brought the
blond man face first into the ash covered ground. “Get the hell OFF ME!!!” He
shouted as Tira held his hands behind him and sat firmly on his backside. “Now,
why ever would I do that?” She said in a mock innocent tone. Placing her head
down to his ear, she whispered in a seductive tone. “This’ll be easier if you
just give me my master’s body.” It was Siegfried’s turn to smirk this time.
“What’s so funny old man?” Tira asked, her anger rising at realizing that
someone was laughing at her. “What’s so funny?” Siegfried asked with a stifled
chuckle. “I figured that you would still be after me so I ‘disposed’ of that
cursed blade long ago.” Siegfried’s bluff would have been caught by anyone who
was thinking clearly. But Tira however, rarely thought clearly and this wasn’t
one of those times.
Her anger faded away almost
as soon as it had risen as she lowered her head again. “Well then,” she began
that same haughtiness in her voice again. “I guess all that’s left to do is
take care of you.” She giggled softly and slowly licked his earlobe. This
caused Siegfried’s body to stiffen considerably. What the hell…is she doing? He asked himself as Tira’s hot breath
lowered to his neck, soon to be followed by a soft nip as her teeth teased the
flesh just under his ear as a slight blush threatened to brush itself on his
cheek. “Relax old man.” She began to chuckle again. “I’m not going to kill you…
Yet.” This caused her to laugh maniacally. This gave Siegfried the leverage he
needed to free his left hand, witch he promptly brought to her face in a
roughly crude backhand sending the girl spinning to her side. Standing up
quickly, Siegfried by-stepped his sword entirely and stopped over to the girl,
still reeling from the blow she had received. He gruffly grabbed her by her
neck and lifted her to his eye level. Tira’s feet swung wildly as they dangled
a good three inches off the ground as her airway was cut off completely by
Siegfried’s vice like grip. A wave of a rarely known feeling washed over her.
Fear. Real fear was beginning to grip at the edges of her consciousness. I-I’m actually going to die this time…She
would have laughed madly if she had the chance to breath. Opening her eyes,
Tira locked Siegfried in a defiant glare, only to have here stare fade slightly
as a familiar darkness touched the edges of her mind. The last thing she
noticed before the darkness completely engulfed her in its cold embrace was
something that would trouble her for some time to come. H-His eyes…They’re so…blue…
Siegfried sighed to himself
as his grip softened, dropping the unconscious girl at his feet. What the hell’s wrong with me? She should
die for what she did.
But if you take another life, you’ll be no better than
him.
But…
Besides, she’s almost cute when she’s asleep. Breaking off his trail of thought at that moment,
Siegfried had wondered why he had allowed himself to think such a thing.
Growling loudly, Siegfried hefted Requiem over his shoulder and stalked away
from the charred clearing; slightly worrying if letting that woman live was the
right thing to do. “Probably not.” He said to himself with the slightest hint
of a smirk.
