“Oh…” Cera murmured taking in what Lo’jin had said, still staring up at the troll, who though he’d crouched, still towered over her. She was only pulled out of her musings when she heard the low rumble of her mount and the answering squawk of Lo’jin’s raptor.
Looking over, she bit back a burst of laughter, never had she thought to see a raptor and night saber basking in the sun together. Turning to say as much to her temporary companion, she was squealed when she met him eye to eye.
“For a battle-priest, yah sure are skittish, gurlie” Lo’jin teased, a smile pulling at his lips.
Huffing, Cerana let herself fall back in the sweet grass, making a rude gesture at Him while she did so. Staying quiet for a long moment, she just took in the sky, with its two sun’s and floating waterfalls before hearing him speak again.
“ Ah was only teasin’ Mon, lighten up Cera…”
“We don’t know each other well enough to tease” She retorted, hotly, sending a weak glare at the Shadow Priest.
“Then let me git to know yah gurl!” Lo’jin roared in frustration, Bazz popping up and trotting over to investigate what had his rider in a tizzy. Absently, the troll lifted a large three fingered hand and patted the Raptor’s side heavily, red eyes trained on the fellow priest’s face. Her glare intensified at his roar, and Cerana was standing in an instant, face warmed with irritation as she ground out an answer to the trolls demands.
“Why should I let you get to know me troll! We’ve absolutely nothing in common! We aren’t even on the same side of this damned war!” She bellowed, hands fisted at her sides, every inch of her tense.
“War? The Horde hasn’t attacked the alliance in years yah idiot gurl! We be fightin’ Illadin now! Together and separately - yah know dat just like ah do!” He growled back, standing to match her, looming inches away from her face, watching as her silver eyes blazed like a winter storm.
“We aren’t working together Troll, Alliance is no more welcome in Horde camps than a damn infernal is.” She hissed, eyes narrowing, bringing a hand up and prodding him ruthlessly in the chest with an accusing finger.
As the pair bickered, they were unaware of their mounts wandering off together toward a stream, both unimpressed with their rider’s. The pair was also unaware of other travelers passing them in the distance, chuckling to themselves as they spied, what looked to be a lover’s spat.
The two priests continued to fight, getting so that eventually they were practically on top of each other, yelling in the other’s faces and baring their teeth menacingly. It wasn’t until Cerana’s mount bowled her over that they quieted.
“CALE!” Cerana shrieked, pushing at the saber, laughter bubbling from her throat.
Lo’jin watched her push at her mount futile, while his mount butted it’s head against his shoulder. Looking at Bazz he received a stare that said - I’m not fighting but you are…what gives? Sighing, because his raptor had better manners than he did, Lo’jin crouched down to the left of Cera’s head, careful to keep off her hair as he did so.
“Ahm sorry Cerana, me mouth got away from meh, Mon.”
“Oh, Lo…it was me who got carried away!” Cerana exclaimed, finally pushing Cale’inja off of her and sitting up. “I’m so…so pro-alliance that its sickening, my grandfathers would be ashamed to see just how far their family has fallen from free thinking and compassion.”
Shaking his head at how contrite Cerana became so easily, a thought wormed its way into Lo’jin’s head. Weighing the pros and cons of voicing the thought, he became a despondent until a tiny fist thwacking him on the leg brought him back to reality.
“How old ya be gurl?” He stated bluntly, catching the same fist as it came around again to get his attention. Watching how wide those wintery eyes got and judging the quick rise of color to her violet cheeks with careful eyes, Lo’jin discerned his answer before her lips parted.
“Old enough.” Internally groaning at her knee-jerk answer Cera only hoped Lo’jin wasn’t much older than her to realize that statement dated her younger than she would have liked to admit.
“Yah aren’t over six are yah, gurl?” He asked smugly, sure she was but a chit in terms of age to her people. Sputtering indignantly Cerana bit out a hasty reply.
“Six?! Six hundred years old? Are you out of your mind, Troll? I just turned eight last month!”
“Yeh only be on the doorstep of adulthood den, gurl, what choo doin’ adventuring like dis…shouldn’t you be rearin’ babes to carry on da family?”
Caught off guard by Lo’jin’s quick and cutting remark, Cerana lay propped on her elbows, a look of complete bewilderment plastered across her face. It was a pregnant pause before she haughtily spoke once more.
“Have you seen a male of my kind? Think their pompous and over exaggerated? Well I bloody well do too!”
Red eyes widened at the girl’s proclamation and the shadow priest promptly fell into deep rumbling laughter at the statement. Cera was but a moment behind joining his laughter, with her own silvery sweet giggles. As they laughed, Cera found herself feeling alive once more- not drowning in tailoring commissions, or knee deep in trouble trying to find so and so’s lost nephew… Getting up she grabbed Lo’jin’s hand pulling him to his feet.
“Frolic with me Lo’jin…Just this once, play with me like we were children”
And that was how Cerana’s guild founder found her, giggling like a school girl with a troll companion rolling around inn the sweet grasses of Nagrand like happy children.
