Ghirahim shrugged, “Is there not a way for you to obtain that sword once again Sky Child?”
“Stop calling me Sky Child! Just call me Link,” I huffed. “And no I don’t think I am able to retrieve her once again.”
“Link’s right,” Zelda sighed. “The master sword is now only able to be pulled by the next hero that will be born after Link passes on.”
Why does everything have to be so complicated?! I run my fingers through my hair angrily out of frustration with the current situation. “I can’t beat Demise without a weapon! I barely beat him last time!”
“Well you could use me, Link. I’m a sword as well you know,” Ghirahim smirked.
I jumped a little at his suggestion of using him as my sword. I swallowed harshly and looked at him for moment, saying absolutely nothing to him. “B-but I don’t know how to wield you…”
“I could teach you how to wield me.” His smile grew wider but also somehow softer.
“Fine,” I groaned. “Do you think you have enough time to teach me everything?”
“It will just have to be enough time,” he said.
“We better get going then.”
“Yes we better.” Ghirahim rose to his feet before me and dragged me out of the house before I could even get a word in. We stoped in the front yard and he made one of his sabers appear in his hand. He pulled me close to him. “Hold on Sky Child.”
“Stop calling me Sky Child!” I exclaimed, trying to push away from him. All of a sudden, with one wave of his saber, we were in the opening where everything had occurred. I felt Ghirahim’s grip release me and I stumbled two steps back from him.
“Alright Link, let’s begin.” Ghirahim tossed me the saber in his hand and summoned another one to his hand. I ended up fumbling while trying to catch the saber and he just laughed at me. “You’re out of practice I see.”
I grumble a few choice words under my breath as I glared at him. He was right though, I was way out of practice since everything had been so calm lately. I came to hold the black saber properly and then wait for further instruction from Ghirahim.
“Before I can teach you how to wield me I must first see how skilled you are right now so come at me with all you got.”
I did not wait for him to make the first move; I attacked him head on like I used to do. He caught the sword between is index and middle finger like he did when I first ever fought him. I quickly shook the sword from his grip and backed away from him by a couple of feet. We were circling each other, never taking our eyes off each other. Each one of us was waiting for the other drop his guard for just a moment to strike. If I were to try do something like skyward strike, I would had to left myself open to being struck for a moment. And I didn’t know if I could execute the skyward strike with this sword anyway.
Our dance in circles lasted for quite some time with a few crossing of blades here and there. I gained more confidence the longer this went on because my knowledge of sword fighting slowly came back to me. I could tell that Ghirahim was getting quite bored with this and the moment he let that show was the moment I choose to strike. He was only taken a little by surprise from my attack. The sound of our swords clashing rang out in the forest. I had him back peddling while I was advancing on him greatly. I managed to hook my blade onto his hilt and fling his sword out of his hand and back him into a tree.
“Kufufufu,” he chuckled as he raised his hands in a joking surrender. “Good job finding an opening, Sky Child.” He looked up at the tree. “Remember this tree from the other night.” He was teasing me at this point. I just glared at him and rolled my eyes.
“Ok, now do I get to learn how to actually wield you or what?” I asked coarsely.
“Fine, fine. Jeez I never thought you’d be such a buzz kill,” he grumbled.
He transformed into his sword form in front of me and waited for me to draw him. I placed my hands on the black handle and pulled him out of the ground. I stared at my reflection in this darkened version of Fi. I tightened my grip on the handle a little as I took in every aspect of Ghirahim in sword form.
“Hnnngg oh Sky Child, watch where you touch,” Ghirahim moaned.
“Oh my Goddesses!” I dropped the sword immediately. The clang of it hitting the ground echoed through the forest a little.
“I was just messing with you,” he chuckled playfully. I glared at the blade for a little bit before picking it back up. “Now practice just swinging me around a little.”
I did as he said of course, slowly getting a feel of how this blade moves in my hands. As I wielded him I started to feel a connection begin to form between us kind of like the one I had felt between Fi and me when I wielded her. But this one seemed to be forming deeper than that one did. My body began to relax and became more comfortable with wielding Ghirahim as my weapon instead of the master sword. Our energies began to flow together as one while I swung the sword.
“There you go,” Ghrahim said. “No try a skyward strike.”
I did as Ghirahim said and raised the sword to the sky to collect the energy in the blade. I swung the sword down when I felt there was enough energy in the sword and it produced a good skyward strike. I smiled, satisfied that I had been able to master Ghirahim so well. I was also happy that he was helping us. The thought brought a warm fluttering feeling to my heart.
“Alright I think you got a handle on it,” Ghirahim said as he transformed into his humanoid form and landed on his feet next to me. “Let’s head back to the house.” He said as he started to walk away in the direction of the house.
I rushed up to him and grabbed his hand and said, “Wait Ghirahim!” He stopped and looked at me curiously. I gave him a quick peck on the cheek, “Thanks for helping,” I said shyly and blushed.
“No problem,” He smiled as he entwined his fingers with mine. That warm feeling I had felt earlier filled my heart again as we walked back hand in hand.
