==LAP 4==
Seppuku had caught Chiya’s eyes. Chiya could have just sat down at the counter, but it was too late, she already found herself walking towards him as if she were being pulled in. Seppuku could tell that Chiya wanted an audience with him so he threw the game with Baba.
Baba glanced at Seppuku and raised an eyebrow, “You realize we threw two hundred credits on the table?”
Seppuku nodded affirmatively, “Yes, just take the money and go.”
Baba smirked at him, “Your loss, fool.” Baba swiped the money off of the table and walked away from the table.
Chiya approached the table shyly, but obtained enough courage to grab the chair Baba got out of, “Can I sit here?”
“Go for it.”
Chiya sat down at the table with Seppuku but was afraid to look into his eyes. Chiya had no idea what she was going to ask him, so she decided to break the ice, “So you got fourth place. That was pretty good!”
Seppuku shrugged carelessly, “I suppose, the Red Dove could use some better boosters.”
Seppuku stood up from his seat and started digging around in his coat pocket; he pulled out a wallet, planet passport, some money, a bullet, and a metal disc. Chiya stared at the bullet as it rolled along the table. She was confused as to why Seppuku would carry this around. Chiya jolted up startled as Seppuku slammed the metal disc in front of her, he clicked a switch on the disc. Momentarily lights began to shine out of the disc, within seconds a 3D holographic image of his vehicle was emitted.
Seppuku put his finger into the hologram and spun the model around to the rear, he pointed at the boosters, “See that?”
Chiya took a few moments of examining to realize that the left booster was very dented, “Yes sir,” she responded affirmatively.
“Damn Blood Hawk barely touched me, yet my booster was completely wrecked,” he said as he bit down on his lip. Seppuku tilted his fedora down to hide his visor, “Basically what I’m saying, is that those boosters were just play things, not competition worthy, a mistake on my mechanic’s part.”
Chiya hesitantly turned the ship to its side, praying that Seppuku wouldn’t yell at her for touching his possession.
She nodded her head slightly as she spotted something, “I see that the left flank of your machine was damaged as well. That must have made it hard to drift.”
Seppuku growled, “What..?”
Chiya widened her eyes and fell back into her seat trembling in response to his fierce attitude. Seppuku tilted his hat up and looked into her scared eyes. He changed his angered expression into a grin and performed a silent clap for her.
“Well done, not even I noticed that,” Seppuku admitted.
Chiya smiled with a prideful look, “Thank you, F-Zero has always been a fascination to me, I was raised in a place with little to do.”
“That place is..?”
“Mysteria--our race track is known as Mist Flow.”
Seppuku laughed at her, “Mist Flow? No one likes that track, nor does anyone like that planet.”
“Why not?”
“The fog, it’s unbearable--any attempt to attack a racer is a deathtrap waiting to-”
Seppuku was suddenly interrupted as an explosion erupted behind him, destroying half the room within seconds. Smoke filled the entire area as the patrons all began to scream. Chiya found herself on the floor, fortunately she was unharmed. She gasped and looked up, she was unable to see anything around her.
“Help!” she screamed in horror.
Seppuku stood up from the ground with smoke completely surrounding him, “What the Hell?”
Out of the smoke came three large muscular men, it was Michael Chain and his goons. The three were holding AKP-55 assault rifles, a futuristic variant of the AK-47.
“Lieutenant Seppuku! So sorry sir! That was meant to kill you!” Chain yelled while grinning.
Seppuku stood perfectly still while Chiya remained slightly behind him in fear of the gangsters.
Seppuku sarcastically chuckled, “Oh, well, sorry for having the superior F-Zero handling. If the race is why you’re so pissed off.”
Chain stomped his foot down with great pressure, he pointed at Seppuku with a mighty finger, “Well Seppuku! That race was within my reach before you stole it from me!”
Seppuku continued to chuckle sarcastically as pieces of the roof fell around the five.
“Oh please, even if I hadn’t been in that race you would’ve gotten your ass kicked by Captain Falcon.” Chain stopped grinning and was becoming frustrated. Seppuku was clearly failing to become intimidated despite the fact that he had an assault rifle aimed at him, “Now why don’t you just drop those toys of yours and go work out some more,” Seppuku said while poking Chain’s large arm.
Chain was shaking angrily, “I- I’ve had enough of this!”
Chain fired a single bullet into Seppuku’s chest. The bullet sent Seppuku down onto the floor bleeding within an instant. Chiya was jaw-dropped and trembling in fear, she was in deep trouble. She looked up at Chain and gasped loudly, she was easily outnumbered three-to-one.
“Hey little girl, did we just kill your daddy?” Chain shouted while laughing maniacally.
Chiya gasped again with a stunned look, her eyes quivered in absolute fear. Ultimately, she had but one resolution. She pulled out her handgun as they all laughed at her and fired. Chain grunted and was sent back about two meters. He held his chest which was now bleeding.
“S- stupid girl!” he yelled loudly, lifting his assault rifle up.
Chain was surprised to see that Chiya had vanished. His two associates were looking at Chain, neither one of the three saw where she went. Chain growled and flailed his arms in the air.
“Let’s get out of here boys! Before the cops get here!”
Chain and his goons quickly retreated out of the building, the entire room was still filled with smoke and debris. Chiya popped her head up from behind a fallen table. She then gazed in horror at a bleeding Seppuku, “Seppuku!” she yelled in shock.
Seppuku remained still making unclear responses. Chiya grasped his coat and shook him constantly; clear sparks of life were still present. She widened her eyes upon discovering something in Seppuku’s hand. Seppuku was holding the key to the Red Dove.
Is he hinting for me to get him to his vehicle..? She clicked a button on the key, the Red Dove auto piloted from the parking lot to the front door. The door was now destroyed however. Chiya tried lifting Seppuku up but had to carry him over her back. Chiya was not a strong person.
“Come on sir, you have many races left to win!” she said trying to reassure the dying Seppuku.
She managed to carry Seppuku outside but was struggling to keep him over her shoulder. Chiya could hear police sirens on the way, she knew that the police would merely hold her up if she didn‘t leave immediately. She needed to get Seppuku to a hospital quickly.
“Sir! You have to drive to the hospital!” she yelled after placing him against his machine.
A drop of blood dripped down his mouth, “You…” he muttered slightly.
Chiya leaped down on her knees and held his wound while at the same time trying to keep blood from making contact with her hand.
He managed to exhale, able to breathe without all of the smoke in the air, “You need to drive me back to my place,” he faintly made out to her.
A shock went through her body at the request for her to drive a competition made vehicle. She hadn’t driven a normal vehicle for a long time, now she was expected to drive an F-Zero machine, “I- I don’t-”
Seppuku interrupted her with a loud grunt, “Shut up. Don’t think, just do it.”
Chiya found her options very limited. Either she drove or let him bleed to death. She exhaled in immense frustration but ultimately decided to put him behind the pilot’s seat. Chiya leapt into the Red Dove’s cockpit and scouted the dashboard for where to turn on the machine. She found the ignition. Chiya quickly inserted the key into the Red Dove, lights lit up all over the cockpit upon doing so. A large GPS screen turned on above the dashboard with several locations saved, one being labeled HQ.
“HQ?” She asked.
Seppuku nodded slightly while biting his teeth down in pain. For whatever the reason, Seppuku insisted that she bring her back to his base rather than a hospital. Chiya activated the waypoint and put her foot on the accelerator. She swallowed nervously and began to accelerate. She was slowly driving, as she was stressing over how hard this would be. Chiya had driven vehicles before, but F-Zero machines were much different than the ordinary hovercraft. The Red Dove was moving at a fast pace already, she felt as if she were driving a lightning bolt down the street. She would have to make a turn at an intersection in a few moments. Chiya widened her eyes, remembering what she had reported about the damaged flank that would make turning right possibly a challenge. Chiya slowed down and took an easy turn instead not concerning herself with her speed. Chiya quickly exhaled, realizing that driving the machine wasn’t as hard as she thought, but the issue at hand was that Seppuku was dying. She indeed did have to drive fast.
Chiya had been driving for about two minutes now, simply driving down a long road. She widened her eyes and grunted as she looked at her left mirror. She was suddenly being pursued by three vehicles. The pack leader was the Wild Boar, Michael Chain was on their trail.
“Oh God!” she panicked loudly.
Michael Chain was laughing as he drove, “Don’t let that foolish Seppuku escape alive!”
The three vehicles were attempting to trap the Red Dove, Michael Chain was trying to move in front of the Red Dove while his goons would cover both sides. They believed that Seppuku was the one piloting the Red Dove, not Chiya.
“Oh no, oh dear!” Chiya panicked frantically.
Just as the Wild Boar prepared to move in front of the Red Dove, something came dashing in at incredible speed. It was the Blue Falcon. One of Chain’s goons were slammed right into a building by Captain Falcon. Michael Chain slammed his fists down on the dashboard in anger at Captain Falcon‘s intervention.
“Screw it! This is too much to chew on!”
The Wild Boar did a very sharp spin and retreated from the chase. Chiya widened her eyes and gasped in awe as Captain Falcon was following her. This wasn’t a dream. The Blue Falcon continued to follow the Red Dove for a few seconds before spinning around to pursue Chain. Chiya exhaled loudly in relief as they were out of danger and approaching the destination.
“How are you doing Seppuku?” Chiya asked nervously.
No response was heard from Seppuku, but he was still breathing heavily indicating that he wasn‘t dead yet. Chiya grunted nervously wondering if she was going to make it in time, and exactly how Seppuku was going to heal himself when they arrived at his place.

Chiya moments later approached an alley big enough to hide a vehicle. She drove into the alley revealing a metal door. Chiya assumed that Seppuku always parked his vehicle in this alley, therefore she turned off the machine. The door opened to the building as Chiya dismounted from the Red Dove. A man in a white thin coat stood in front of the F-Zero machine waiting patiently. Chiya grabbed Seppuku and turned around towards the man, managing to hold Seppuku with both arms.
“We need to revive him quickly!” the man yelled.
The two suddenly gasped as they caught each others eyes, it was Earl Bendek; the man who gave Chiya the ticket to the race. Chiya was staring into his eyes with a startled look, but despite the random meet up they nodded and ran Seppuku into the building.
They entered the door quickly, but Chiya was immediately surprised at what she was looking at. This trash infested alley was just a cover up, it was actually hiding something much more than a simple building.
“Stay here young lady, the Lieutenant will want to see you if he makes it through this!” Earl said rushing Seppuku into a room with a large hallway.
Earl and Seppuku disappeared. Chiya exhaled, finally collapsing onto her knees. She wiped her forehead with her eyes shut, she was in a state of disbelief at what she had just gone through. The floor was cold, Chiya found herself staring at her hands with a disturbed expression. What was mere minutes felt like hours, it was indeed only minutes ago that they had escaped from the bar alive. She opened her eyes and rubbed her stock hat, looking around the dark room in confusion.
“What is this place?” she asked aloud.
The building clearly belonged to Seppuku, there were portraits of him and fedoras on hooks all over the walls. The room she was in was like a lobby, but had only a single light hanging in the center of the room. It was practically pitch dark all around her except for the center. She had no idea where she was, and what was going on.
Chiya had learned something that hour. F-Zero may typically be viewed at as just racing, but she was beginning to understand what F-Zero truly was. F-Zero wasn’t just high speed racing, there was much more to it. F-Zero was a war.
