Gary had been running away from his desire his whole life.
Ever since he'd started his pokemon journey, he'd been hellbent on bringing the Ketchum boy down... and then some. But those thoughts confused him and he was sure of his masculinity, so sure of it, so transfixed on proving his manliness that he'd banged every other girl that approached him after his pokemon battles. And that would have been enough once, he wasn't really the relationship type of guy, but the girls followed him, one by one they added to his entourage until finally, he had his own personal cheerleading squad. Didn't girls have anything better to do than follow him around? Whatever happened to independent women?
Of course, these are the type of girls that are indecisive, you idiot, why else would they follow me around? Gary thought, answering an ominous presence in his head. One time, he'd gathered them all around, amused by how they could stand each other when they knew how they got in in the first place and asked them what their plans were. Some answered they were just living life, some said they adored him, others were more direct and said that in the long run, they wanted him. When that was laid out in the open, the evening didn't turn out so well and all of the girls had to be sent to the Pokemon Center after clawing among themselves. Worst part was how, even after they'd been bandaged and stitched up in various places by Nurse Joy, the girls still chanted, "Gary! Gary! He's the best! He'll be the father of my eggs!" Which led to another, rougher, catfight, causing the center major damage, all charged to Gary's account, causing major damage to his savings. Nurse Joy had to call in Officer Jenny to break up the fight and Gary had been taken in for questioning.
He was drilled to exhaustion, and not in the good way. Officer Jenny was relentless in her interrogation. At first Gary had been smug, boasting about how all the girls idolized and wanted him, only him. Officer Jenny knew better than to give in to the thug and kept at it until Gary finally broke down. After hours of questioning, Gary assumed they were both exhausted. Well, he was, but her couldn't say the same for Officer Jenny. She remained cool, standing on the other side of the table as she had done the whole interrogation. She could probably go on for hours. Gary thought, deciding that Officer Jenny was trained to endure dealings such as this and he did not. He finally resigned into his chair and started to confess. He may have started to cry a little too.
I did not!
Gary, please stop butting into the narration.
First, some idiot player kept helping Ash beat me whenever I dueled him and now this? *sniff*
Gary, people get to cry a little when they are tired and exhausted and annoyed.
Well, I'm not- *sniff* I'm not those people!
*cough*
Resuming, Gary confessed, while /not/ crying /at all/, *sniff* Thank you. *sniff* But why are there slashes? *sniff*
Gary did not cry, period.
Thank you, voice in my head. *sniff*
He then confessed that he had no idea why they were following him, other than him liking the company of the girls and not questioning their adoration until recently, which had ended badly as she'd seen. The road he had taken upon was a lonely one and the girls, despite their major, screaming flaws, supported him when no one else would. He'd come to realize, too late in his journeys, that he needed company. Being alone on the road, with only his pokemons proved difficult since you could only do so much to understand what they were saying. The girls had kept his sanity despite the way their group had been formed.
"So you didn't kidnap them? Brainwash them? Held them against their will?" Officer Jenny retorted, eyes piercing, unbelieving.
"Officer, ple- pleas- please. Do I look like someone who can out maneuver 20 girls and getaway with it?" Gary answered, annoyed. The word 'please' leaving a nasty aftertaste in his mouth. He was better than begging. Gary cleared his throat and mentally spit.
A few moments of silence past. Officer Jenny's eyes narrowed, not liking the hint of annoyance in Gary's voice. She stared him down, studying him. The silence was uncomfortable but Gary looked right back at her. He needed to show her whatever it was she was searching for. He should've known better by now than to get a rise out of her. What if she detained him? Or worse, imprisoned him?
...
...
Gary's resolve was starting to waver but he held on.
...
...
"No, probably not," Officer Jenny finally agreed after much deliberation in her head. Gary flinched in his chair as Officer Jenny's voice cut through the thick silence, startling him. The interrogation had been a long and tense one and after many hours, there was nothing left he could say to prove himself.
"I just wanna go, can I pretty please, Officer?" Gary asked. He mustered up all the energy left in him and gave her the best smolder he could, despite his current situation.
"Gary, I know what you're doing and it's not going to work with all that crap on your face. Here, wipe yourself off," Officer Jenny rolled her eyes and handed him a tissue. "And no, it won't work the second time around, actually, never." She was faintly reminded of Brock who'd been there earlier in the day. Whereas Gary seemed to know his way around girls and more confident, Brock had been more honest and delightful. If Officer Jenny was to pick one, Brock seemed more dependable than Gary. Brock seemed more mature then the boy in front of her.
"We're alone, here right? Officer Jenny..?"
"What did I just say?" Officer Jenny said coldly, her eyes orbs of ice. She was brought back from her comparison and smacked the hand that had found its way onto hers, which had been slowly caressing hers. Gary was revolting, Brock won in any level. "Don't try it again," her tone was hard as her eyes pierced through Gary's soul. He flinched. "You may fool your girls but not me. As far as I can see, you're innocent, seemingly ignorant actually. This interrogation was done. But Officer Jenny knew there was something more, some hidden agenda waiting to happen. There must be more to this story, she thought to herself. "Me and the other Officers will be watching you Gary, don't be causing any trouble now."
She wasn't convinced, there had to be another reason the girls were following him around, but Gary, apparently, didn't know anything. It was rather ignorant of him to just accept the girls and willingly pay for their necessities in return for their obedience. That may be a side of the story but something about the girls didn't sit quite right with her and if her gut feel had always been reliable in the past, she had to follow it.
"I'll let you free Gary but don't think you're in the clear," she said as she led Gary out of the room and outside of her office. "Watch yourself now, and consider surrounding yourself with people who actually care." For a second there, her eyes softened before she closed them, relieved that this whole ordeal was over. Gary noticed the change in her posture.
Inside the interrogation room, Gary had only seen a steely side of the Officer and nothing of his awkward advances had worked on her. Awkward because, all attempts at wooing the officer had failed. He had been a complete and utter fool for even trying. His charms apparently had their limits where the officer was involved as she drew the line over and over again. As this whole interrogation thing was all starting to end, his freedom reachable, it finally dawned on him that he never really had a chance to seduce his way out of this mess. One he hadn't intended to create but he knew would be coming. Seriously, a guy with a personal cheerleading squad, what would you expect? He stood there now though, completely dumbfounded by how he could see Officer Jenny's stance change from cold demeanor to warm. Her eyes showed genuine worry and he was taken aback. Thinking of all the girls that were still at the pokemon center, they paled in comparison to Officer Jenny's compassion. The only other people who'd shown him such where his grandfather and that Palet town boy his grandfather had treated as family too. He remembered the day they'd met and how Ash had been all honest in befriending him. Gary's stupid brain kicked in though and he'd decided to become the kid's rival. How he'd forgotten the look of real empathy, he didn't know. Funny how in the oddest of places, he'd be reminded here and now. He gulped, overwhelmed by his epiphany and finding no words to say, he only nodded in reply.
"Go along now," Officer Jenny patted him on the shoulder before heading back into the office to write her report. There were things to be done about the Oak boy and people had to be called. But this had been a long day and after a myriad of house calls and minor reports, she was deadbeat tired. She figured resuming this whole ordeal the next day would be for the better as she would be much more alert after some rest. It was also the wee hours of the morning. She checked her window to see if the boy was still there but he was gone. She sighed, massaging the muscles on her back, proceeding to hanging her uniform on the wall. Routinely checking all the locks but leaving the entrance unlocked, she sat back in her chair and dosed off for a bit until the next emergency came. Tomorrow, she had to pay a visit to the pokemon center and find some answers to the uncertainties in her head. It was times like these that got her drive running. She was tired, sure, but a case waiting to be solved always got her blood pumping. As she started to slowly drift away, a sudden burst of movement in the office awoke her. "What now, Gary?" She said, annoyed, opening her eyes slowly and sitting straight. It wasn't the Oak boy however and there stood Nurse Joy, her eyes wide. Officer Jenny, noticing something was wrong, got up and prepared herself but her reflexes were slower than usual. She vaguely remembered a figure standing behind Nurse Joy as the nurse screamed before all lights went out.
...
Gary was annoyed. Annoyed at himself. Annoyed at the world. Annoyed at everything. Finding nothing to let his frustrations out on, he opted to kick his foot in the dirt when he heard voices up ahead. It was Misty and some girl. He decided better and thought a battle could liven his spirits some. He sneaked behind some bushes, about to jump Misty when he stopped abruptly and felt through his pockets. He had no pokemon on him. "Stupid Jenny," he muttered, about to head back when he heard something interesting coming from the two girls. He looked over the bushes and noticed how the girls were too close in each other. He grinned and he was thankful, after a day of much turmoil, this was something that could cheer himself up for a change. He couldn't hear much though, only a few words here and there and so he tried to inch a little closer. A twig breaking beneath him caused him to stop and he crouched, afraid he'd been caught.
"Who's there?" Misty called out, reaching for the pokeballs in her bag.
"It's just a caterpie," the girl infront of her answered, both looking at the bush a few yards from them. In the dead of night, the slightest twig breaking could be heard.
Gary looked down and noticed a caterpie inching away from the bush towards the girls.
"A- WHAT NOW?" Misty exclaimed, her voice shrill.
"Relax, it's just a little bugger," The girl she had been talking to crept closer to the pokemon, nearing the bush. "Aw. So cute."
Gary gulped, the sound of footsteps nearing his hiding spot, about to pee his pants. Shitshitshit.
"MA- MAY-! Let's, please, go!" Misty tried to shout but it came out a tiny whimper.
"Just a second!" May answered, turning around to reveal the caterpie on her hands. "What's that, Caterpie?" She brought her head closer to the pokemon, as if she were listening to it.
Misty's skin crawled all over. The sight of the caterpie was making her hands sweat and her feet numb.
"Misty! Caterpie wants to meet you!" May shouted excitedly, a mischievous twinkle in her eye. She walked closer to Misty, going faster as she neared the other girl.
"You. Evil. Girl. CATERPIES DON'T TALK! THEY- I DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY DO!" Misty stammered, hurriedly getting to her feet. "AND I HONEST TO GOD DON'T- EEEEEEK!"
May had broken into a run and Misty, stumbling to her feet, found her footing and ran away, hands flailing in the air like she was on fire. Her heart was beating in her ears and May was having the time of her life. They ran around in circles, Misty never once looking back because that's how the victims in horror movies got caught. All she knew was that feet were running towards her and the owner of those feet had a bug pokemon in their hands. Gary peaked from behind his hiding bush and was suddenly alarmed. Misty was heading in his direction. He braced for the impact, his fight or flight complex starting. Yet before Misty could come any closer, the wind was knocked out of her chest as May caught her, hairs and dirt rolling in the night, the girls stopping inches from the bush. Gary did not even dare to breathe, as his hands came in between his trousers, clamping on for dear life. Ireallyuberduperneedtopeeohshit.
"Caught- you-!" May said in between mouthfuls of air. They were both winded by the run, their cheeks blushed with red. She had a fire in her eyes as she sat down upon Misty's shivering body, hands shielding her face from May. May chuckled an evil one. "MISTY-!"
Misty screamed bloody murder and shoved May off of her. She then scurried back towards the bush but stopped. Gary peed a little, his face contorted into a look of uncomfortable pain from his bladder. May was laughing as hard as she could and the caterpie was nowhere around her. Misty panicked.
"Ohmigodohmigodwhereisitwhereisit?" Misty stammered, snapping her head back and forth, her hands checking all around her before she saw it. The caterpie was faraway from them, crawling towards the woods. May was now gasping for breath, tears in her eyes, arms clutching at her stomach. Misty saw pure red as she stomped towards May, pulling the girl up before shaking her to death. "You-? Wha-? Why-? How-?" May couldn't stand on her feet from laughing and Misty had to support her, shaking her in the process. The laughs evidently died down into snorts.
Gary, poor Gary. He was slowly hunching down into a fetal position, hands strangling the life of his manhood. He'd slowly reached into his pants and grasped it tight.
"Misty, I am so so so sorry," May finally said when she could talk, bemused expression on her face. "Seriously, but that shit was funny!" Misty just stared at her, annoyance in full display. May was unapologetic and couldn't help smiling. Slowly, Misty's lips started to curve upward.
"I hate you," Misty replied, walking away.
"Oh no, you don't," May snorted. "Hey, my house is that way!"
"Yep and Ash and Brock are this way!"
"I thought we were going to sleep at my place?"
"Oh no missy, not after that stunt you just pulled off!"
"Oh, come on! Would you really rather spend the night on the crappy ground than a soft, warm bed?! With air-conditioning?! And a bath tub?! A jacuzzi?! Your own maid?! Okay, I'm overselling! But seriously! The forest full of bugs rather than a warm, comfy home?! Misty?!"
Misty's resolve to walk away faltered. She started to slow down. May caught up with her then, standing behind the water trainer.
"I did say, I'm sorry," May's voice was soft, her hand involuntarily landing on Misty's shoulder. Misty closed her eyes and breathed, she looked up and stared into the vast dark sky, the moon a crescent being. She turned around and smacked May on the shoulder.
"Owowow," May flinched, moving out of reach. "I deserve that, but ow!"
"I got you there," Misty was smiling. May rolled her eyes.
"So, netflix and chill?"
Misty looked back at the path towards Ash and Brock, it's been almost a day since she'd been with them both. How are they?
"They're big boys, Misty. They can handle themselves, besides, their pokemon could use some homecooked meal and a big backyard to play in. We even have a swimming pool!" May winked, pulling Misty's attention back. "They won't mind. They probably want a night for the men and do manly stuff. Boys."
Misty smiled in reply but just stood there. May, knowing that she'd won, hooked her arms around Misty's and directed them both the other way.
"Seriously, we can watch movies until tomorrow! Stay up late! Girl's night, braiding, manicures, pedicures, makeups, girly stuff..." May's voice drifted away as their footsteps softened with the wind, heading further away.
"I. Just. Peed. Myself," Gary muttered to himself when he couldn't hear the girls any more. "In the middle of the road, behind a bush, I peed myself. Holy Mother of God." He stood up, his pants a wet mess, the ground squishing beneath his shoes. Throughout all the excitement of the day, this was the highlight. He'd learned new things from Misty, he'd peed himself, and he found out Ash was somewhere near, alone, with Brock. That one thought made him forget how wet his pants were. A hint of jealousy coursed through his veins and he ran as fast as he could in the opposite direction. He knew where the boys were, there were only a few areas for camping around the route. They'd probably be near the river and he needed that too. He could wash himself off before looking for Ash. The idea of his boy and Brock spending the night alone in the woods made him uneasy. His boy, Gary thought. He was always so possessive but when had he started to think of Ash as his? He grinned the whole run.
Mine.
It was time to face his one long desire. He'd been rejecting it for so long but this was the time. He'd seen many things, been to many regions, and battled a million faces. He'd been gone and back and maybe now, now that he's realized and come to accept his needs, he was going to act on it. The rivalry he'd used as a mask was over now, he needed to face his desire. He was tired of running... and also growing tired of the wet patch in between in pants which seemed to be drying up from the run. He felt sticky though and knew he smelled of dirt and pee.
...
A flock of pidgeys flew away from trees as he passed by them. Gary was near the river and to his surprise, on the other side was... Brock. Looks like he didn't have to do much searching after all. Is he washing pans... Oh. Gary crouched low and stayed behind the line of trees, Brock was definitely washing his pan rather rigorously. A loud exclaim from Brock soon came and Gary couldn't help but grin at what he'd seen before a frown worked its way onto his face. He'd noticed someone else on the bank, not far from Brock and hiding behind a rock. The person seemed busy with himself too.
Is. That. Ash..?
Whoever it was Gary, could not, /would not/ think it was Ash. He waited for the figures to make their way back to the camp before Gary plunged into the river, finding his way onto the other side. He had to make sure. To check if there were others. Or else...
And that's what I've written so far... for now.
Next chapter soon!
